StevieDay1983 Posted February 15, 2018 Author Share Posted February 15, 2018 Augsburg vs Stuttgart This fixture is being contested between two teams that have endured inconsistent form in the Bundesliga as of late so it's one to get to grips with. Augsburg have seen quite a few of us to some nice wins over the past year or two so I am returning to the old faithful again this week. The home side are in 7th place and just 5 points off the Champions League spots. Stuttgart are struggling in comparison in 14th position and just 4 points above the relegation play-off spot. Augsburg have only suffered defeat at home twice this season as they boast one of the strongest home records in the Bundesliga. In contrast, Stuttgart have suffered on the road losing 9 and drawing 2 of their 11 away matches so far. New head coach Tayfun Korkut remains unbeaten after two matches in charge but it's going to take more than a couple of weeks to turn the ship around. My gut feeling is that Augsburg should prevail here and continue their march to the top four. Stuttgart do look improved under Korkut and with Mario Gomez now leading the line they have a proven prolific weapon up top. However, a lot of damage has already been done this season and the monkey on the shoulder of Stuttgart that is that away record without a win still looms large. I'm sure they will get a win on the road soon but I'm not convinced it will be this week. I expect a tight game with Augsburg to edge it. At the very least, this could be one for the purists to watch live on BT Sport 2 this Sunday afternoon.
