Nap of the Day - Tuesday 19th August

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 19th August Frontline Phantom 3.00pm Yarmouth 6-4 Bet365 - 1pt WIN Won at Doncaster on Saturday in an apprentice handicap so turns out today on the same mark without a penalty and on Saturday the apprentice Peter Sword could only claim 5lb whereas today he claims 7lb. Excellent race planning from connections and I don't think Karl Burke would send this all the way to Yarmouth just for a day out. Looked impressive at Donny and was possibly one to follow under a penalty so running without one makes it a great looking bet.

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 19th August Worcester 8.10: Le Grand Chene @ 16/1 Skybet e/w Thanks Le Grand Chene......from Sophie Leech yard the 8yo has won a hurdle race and four chases from 2m to 2m 4f on ground varying from good to heavy. but its not ran a Hurdle race since 2012 when after its only hurdle win it ran 18 days later at Ffos Las 2m 4f (heavy) where it finished 3rd since then its had 21 chase race, With its last chase being 120 days ago when Third of 14 behind Bringewood Belle beaten 17 lengths at Chepstow over 3m (good) in April, The yard bring it back to 2m for its return to hurdling which sees it run off 85 mark with Killian Moore claiming 3lb allowance of his back

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 19th August L7.30 Sheer Poetry 1pt Win 16/1 Bet365 This unexposed 3yo races here at a course more suitable with a more capable jockey on that previous efforts. The trainer has had some decent priced winners this season and the horse showed just enough promise on its handicap debut last time out (weakened late on) to suggest that it could go close here off the same mark

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 19th August 4.45 Brighton Popping Candy win 8/1 bet365 Led then faded lto over 6f at yarmouth and penultimate run was Badly hampered so wasn't given much of a chance early doors , 3 runs back far better when 3rd btn 5L , front two ran well to place in nto races. Varians only runner of the day and is 3/7 with 3yo h/cappers , cheekpieces and step up in trip could eke out improvement off a lowly mark.

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 19th August Yarmouth 2:30 - Great Wave @ 7/2 Boylesports Interesting that Spencer hops onto this horse for David Simcock and is dropping down in trip from a mile to 6f. She ran poor on seasonal debut at Lingfield but might have needed it and she runs off a decent mark of 68 here. She was placed at Windsor in a better race than this in October of last year and with the yard in form she should go well.

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 19th August 19.00 Leicester: Postscript @ 9/1 VC I have to take on the favourite in this race. Endless Credit has a good chance on recent form to go well, but might be simply found out for speed since form and breeding suggests he's more of a 10f horse than a miler. Three year old Express Himself is clearly in excellent form and must rate a big chance, only 1lb higher than at his recent strong Epsom performance, but not sure if the drop in trip ideal and he's plenty short enough. There seems to be a good deal of pace in this race, with the Maverik, Ocean Storm and Henry The Aviator likely to fight for the lead. All three like to go from the front, and that should ensure it'll be no crawl today. Siouxperhero is on a four timer and clearly in good nick. This is much harder than what he encountered in all his recent starts and I find it hard to see this actually quite exposed horse to step up to the level of form required to be really competitive in this. I do however feel that Postscript makes plenty of appeal at 9/1. Usually he's much shorter in races like this when he has conditions in favour, i.e. fast ground. He is not in bad form at all, was not quite suited by the soft ground at Haydock last time out though and is better judged on the two fine performances before. On past form he rates a big chance today, with the fast ground provided he likes so much. He won off 85 and 87 last year good Handicaps, and rated at 84 at the moment, he must have a very good chance to run his race, as there is no indication that he isn't worth this mark. He should be suited by the quick pace too, so on balance, he's quite a big price in my mind.

Re: Nap of the Day - Tuesday 19th August 2.15 BRIGHTON (Class 6 - 51/2f Nursery) LADY ZODIAC @6/4 (Boylesports #BOG) Looks like a bit of a gamble is going on here with Lady Zodiac down to 11/8 almost everywhere which means a 30%+ drop in the price if compared to the 5/2 available yesterday. I agree with the market, adding the fact that probably a 6/5 line would better represent the real chance of this 2yo filly. She's still improving and in 3 nursery starts so far she was always able to rais the bar each time (4th, 2nd and 2nd by less than 2 lenghts) so it's obvious to consider her a big player today even if the field is pretty competitive. Second run for her under new trainer A Balding and I'm expecting another improvement this time for a win.
