Re: Championship > September 29/30 wolves v sheff wed stales new regime seems to be coming good now 3 wins last week after a stuttering start. they come up against sheff wed who after a positive first 3 games have hit a brick wall. sheff wed problem is their leaky defence which i think the seb /doyle front line expected for this game can take advantage. the confidence of the sheff wed team/player to play in this division must be slipping away fast. The 1.88 at pinny still available offers great value.

Re: Championship > September 29/30 bristol city v leeds leeds already depleted first eleven and small squad will have a big midweek cup game v everton where they cannot afford to rest hardly any first choices even bechia whose carrying a knock. So the team probaly will not be in the best shape come saturday. bristol back at home (where they have been strong so far with victories over cardiff and palace bt losing to blackburn) after 2 games on the road , where they showed gud spirit to come back from a goal down twice v watford. will hold a more clear advantage then the bookies suggest. the ahc 0 at 1.9 odds for bristol city looks a gud opportunity to me.

Re: Championship > September 29/30 We have done ok at home this season after we struggled to break teams down last year on our own patch. I doubt Leicester will sit back and if that is the case it will suit us. Jutkiewicz showed last season that he can bully defences and if we are able to put out the same side that played against Blackburn I don't see why we can't win. Having said that, we are conceding goals and Leicester have dangerous players but Bikey and Woodgate are looking better in every game they play together. I'd want 13/8 at least to get involved (if we have a fit squad) but I will leave it until I know more about who is available.

Re: Championship > September 29/30

I think Barnsley could be the bet of this round tbh. They're usually fairly tough at oakwell' date=' and Ipswich have lost their last three. Only beating Watford this season. Under 4 offers such poor value I can't begin to describe how much of a value LAY they are.[/quote'] To add to this, Ipswich coach Paul Jewell is under pressure and it is rumoured that Harry Redknapp, a close friend of Ipswich's owner, could take over soon.

Re: Championship > September 29/30 *Bolton v Crystal Palace - Over 2.5 Goals - 2 Points @ 1.83 Betfair* Think this price is too big, it should be around 1.70 - 1.73 in my opinion. Bolton's last 5 games in a row have gone over and they look very dodgy at the back, but at home they are more than capable of banging in at least a goal or two. Crystal Palace have played much better in their last few games, unbeaten in their last 4 after a tardy start, beating Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton and Cardiff, and look a real goalscoring threat having come back from 2-0 to Cardiff last time out to win 3-2. Should be plenty of goals in this game i reckon.

Re: Championship > September 29/30 *Middlesbrough v Leicester - Over 2.5 Goals - 2 Points @ 1.92* Again looks a massive price, was thinking i would have been happy with 1.8...... Middlesbrough have gone over in 5 of their last 6 championship games, and they are now only 1 point outside the play-off spots. Leicester have gone over in 5 of their last 6 games also. The last time they met, they drew 2-2, Boro's striker is playing very well and if they keep him fit will score plenty. Boro also have a dodgy defence and concede a lot of late goals which helps.

Re: Championship > September 29/30 *Burnley v Millwall - Over 2.5 Goals - 2 Points @ 1.85 Betfair* Again think this is a nice price, anything above 1.75 is good. Burnley have gone over in their last 4 games in a row and Millwall have gone over in 5 of their last 6 league gamesm. Both defences look vulnerable, that is why they are 16th and 22nd in the table and in Burlney's last home game they scored 5 goals, so we should see over 2.5 here in this game.

Re: Championship > September 29/30 *Huddersfield v Watford - Over 2.5 Goals - 2 Points @ 1.94* I was really impressed with Huddersfield the other night when they went to leaders Blackpool and played exceptionally well, winning 3-1 in the end. They looked very good going forward and efficient in front of goal. They normally do very well at home and 3 of their last 4 league games have gone over 2.5. Watford's defence is rather suspect but they are also capable of scoring, they drew 2-2 with Bristol City last time out and their last 5 away games in a row in the championship have gone over. Should be around the 1.8 mark, odds are very good here.

Re: Championship > September 29/30 Aidymac , thank you for your insight ..... Looks like were onto something here with a few of these over plays. I'd like to find the best option before the weekend hits. American punter here. Your first selection bolton match looked quite enticing, but I have zero info on any of these teams. Thanks again

I wouldn't worry about this tbh. Keith isn't going anywhere soon. The discussions were purely about the takeover rumours (as far as I'm aware) and this wont be happening before Saturdays game. My only worry about this game is our inconsistency and our poor record against Ipswich. I won't be betting on this but would expect us to get 3 points based on our recent form (and the lack of ipswich's)

aidymac i like this over the best. bolton lead the league this season for shots on goal (53) as their manager was quoted as saying its only a matter of time before they get more clinical, and start thrashing a few teams, like palace whose defense isnt that strong like bolton also. And palace have found their scoring boots as late. theres gotta be around about 60% chance of this going overs, so the odds offered like 1.83 at sbobet offer gud enuf value.

Ok thanks mate, I know that any potential takeover isn't quite imminent yet and ofcourse the article could contain some speculative journalism in places but you'd be suprised how often something like this can unsettle one or two players. Barnsley have great cohesion at the momment but I'm always on the lookout for things that can distrupt this, at any club. Yes sometimes those fears can get the better of us, it's always better to take each individual contest as you find it imo rather than looking at past encounters. It is funny how you get bogey teams though as it does occur throughout the game. Palace just cannot win at Ashton Gate, every year it's the same, every year a new agony to face when we travel there, I'm sick of it. Out of interest, do you ever bet on games involving your own team?

I went on record earlier in the season saying I wouldn't bet on any team at oakwell this season (and that included Barnsley!!) We're far too inconsistent, although we are a match for most teams at home. I had said to back every team Barnsley plays on the road and was on Wolves, Brighton and Blackburn when the played us (first two being easy wins). I would have suggested backing Birmingham but they were too short and for one reason or another just didn't fancy the Brums. Now we appear to have turned a corner away from home in terms of performances (we were the better team against Blackburn - and obviously Birmingham) I'll be less inclined to bet against them. However, I urge everyone not to bet on any game at Oakwell this season.

Thanks for that post, has made me feel more confident about the bet, cheers. I will be surprised if we see a borefest in the Bolton game.

Re: Championship > September 29/30 I'd like to add another 'over' to discuss until kick -off.Charlton - Blackburn seems to be a though game to predict as far as 1x2 is considered.A very close encounter is expected and despite Blackburn are slightly favorites i don't see the value even at 2.60.But have a look at the attacking power of both teams: Jordan Rhodes and Nuno Gomes are fantastic for Blackburn while Charlton answer with Fuller and Bradley Wright - Phillips. These are all very likely to be goalscorers and I haven't heard anyone of them to be sidelined. It is also good to mention that seven different Charlton players scored since the start of the season which means that they have many options. They will play at home willing to beat one of the promotion contenders.Blackburn were a public bet last Friday but Middlesbrough performed well and surprised most punters.Maybe there is more pressure when playing at home. Now they will try to bounce back.Defense is not perfect - conceded 11 in 7 games so far.So over 2.5 seems tempting at 1.72 with bet365.

Suprised nobody has mentioned hull yet. They are very strong at home, scoring 8 and conceding 2 in the 3 home games so far, thus winning them all. Peterbrough's league form and how poor they are is well documented, loosing all 3 away games scoring 2 and conceding 8. They will get a point.sooner or later but I don't think it will be at hull. 4/9 at hills is a decent enough price given the respective form

Re: Championship > September 29/30 Hi Aidymac, Thanks for the great previews. I will took some of the overs that you said. I have a question though: Why didn't you see the match Wolves-Sheffield Wednesday as a over match? Till now I've been betting on overs at Wednesday's matches since the second round, and it was 100% winning bets. My local bookie prices the over 2.5 at this match at 1.70 which seems very good, considering that till now Wednesday had only overs in the league.

Re: Championship > September 29/30 Hello Gents long time lurker, taken the plunge and gonna post my selections up. Huddersfield v Watford: Anyone who seen Huddersfield away at Blackpool cant help be impressed by the performance they put in,the loss of Jordan Rhodes does not seem to have affected them as bad as some people had imagined,James Vaughan has come in on loan from Norwich and is doing very well. Watford on the other hand have had a torrid start to the season in the NPC,with dis jointed performances and lots of players on loan and from a lot of different countries, that cant help and i see nothing but a comfortable home win here.Huddersfield 11\10 @ Various places. Bristol City V Leeds:Can see this being a very open Game Leeds have gone over 2.5 in there last 6 league games and look very shaky at the back,Bristol city much of the same great strike force but very indifferent at the back.Over 2.5 goals 4\5 Betfair. Burnley v Millwall. Going for home win here,Burnley were dumped out the cup at Swindon mid week but fell they wont be to worried about that with the league being there main priority, they have won 2 from 3 in the NPC at home and in Charlie Austin imo have one of the best strikers in the league that will cause Millwall problems,Millwall head into this game losing 2 of there 3 away games this season and think they will really struggle this year and think Burnley will have to much about them.Burnley win evens @ Various places. Best luck, and sorry for bad english. :hope

Hi. I was initially interested, but then i saw Wolves have gone under in their last 2 matches. From 7 games they have gone over 3 times and under 4 times, so that put me off to be honest. Sheffield Wednesday always seem to be involved in high scoring matches though, so it could well go over, but i wouldn't be very confident, hence no bet. Also, the law of averages says Wednesday are due an under, as they have 7 overs in a row.

Re: Championship > September 29/30 I have also had Huddersfield at 11\10. Too good a price to resist especially as they are very good at home and until Watford gel they will continue to struggle, they have brought in too many players expecting instant results.

I've shied away from betting on the championship in the last week or two and will be continuing this trend by going with a double in league 2. However, as Willy points out, Hull look a real good bet out of this weeks championship fixtures and I wouldn't be surprised if they won by a few goals. I don't bet on margins though, so a straight Hull win looks a reasonable bet - even if it may appear short to some value punters.

Re: Championship > September 29/30 Honestly, I was thinking the same, so I took over at Wednesday match, but on a risky combo, because, all the same results have to end sometimes. By the way, that's the reason why I think Liverpool will win this week, but it's way to risky, considering their latest form. :D
