BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 315 Wolves – Yours Ever – 11/4 - Bet 365 Was returning from a 206 day absence when somehow finishing 2nd last time out at Kempton having been outpaced about 5f out. Showed a good attitude that day and is entitled to come on from that run. From the Mark Prescott stable he went off at odds of 20/1 which would suggest he was not expected to win this day. Extra furlong and Wolverhampton’s slower surface may well help today.

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012

I think the weather is getting everybody down....:sad
Not half! I can't seem to make much progress this season at all. It feels like I'm doing well to be anywhere near level. Gonna be half way through the season before anything settles down

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 1730 pontefract 1pt win kians joy 12/1 bet365 ran a stinker last time out, finishing nearer last than first, but that was 2 furlongs longer and back to a mile today, and now has headgear on to try to return to winning ways, won at newcastle in april on soft ground

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 *Winters Night - Pontefract 4:00* Is dropping down in grade here tomorrow from Group 3 company down to Listed after a nice performance where was only about 4 lengths behind the winner at the Curragh last time out. Ryan Moore is a very eye-catching jockey booking here for me. A reproduction of it's run two starts back at Goodwood where it was 2nd in similar company should see it go close. Clive Cox is in very good form with 2 of his last 6 runners winning. This is his only runner tomorrow. *1 Point WIN @ 6/1 Betfred BOG*

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 14.30 Pontefract: Slipstream Angel, 3/1 Bet365, 1pt win Slipstream Angel won her only start. She finished strongly so the step up in trip today should suit. That was run on heavy ground similar to what she encounters today. Champion jockey Paul Hanagan is in the saddle. He is having another good season and he has a good partnership with trainer Richard Fahey.

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 3.15 Wolverhampton - 1pt win Rei D'oro @ 9/1 (Bet365) Posted this last time:

8.00 Goodwood - 3pts win Rei D'oro @ 9/1 (Hills) I often find it hard to assess races like this - where there are a number of potentially progressive types - but I think David Simcock's runner is fairly treated off a mark of 74 and is capable of better having only had four starts to date. He didn't show much on debut with 10th at Wolverhampton but shaped with abundant promise next time out at Kempton when running green, having to check off heels up the straight before staying on well into a 2l 3rd over a mile. He's a big sort who clearly would be better over further than the trip he competed over there. He again shaped as if a mile was the bare minimum for him when winning his maiden on his 3rd start back at Wolverhampton. He was under pressure a fair way out for an even money shot and looked held turning in when he had three lengths to find and under the whip. However, his stamina started to tell as he wore down the leaders and forged on close home to win by 1 1/4l. The runner-up there has been narrowly denied since in a handicap off 69 so on that I really don't see why my selection can't win off 74 upped in trip. He was subsequently stepped up to 1m4f at Chepstow last time but a four-runner race was hardly ideal for him. He plugged on but it was his first run in over three months and should have come on for that. He was beaten 3 1/4l in the end but a stronger pace here will suit (more likely given number of runners) and the front two franked the form from the Welsh venue. They filled the 1st and 3rd positions in valuable handicap at Musselburgh next time out so it adds to the strength of Rei D'oro's chances here. Handled turf last time and if going on the ground, he'll go very well I think.
Ran a bit disappointingly in the end but had enough excuses to suggest he can bounce back today. Firstly the ground being on the soft side may not have been ideal and given it was his first try under such circumstances means it's plausible he just wants a sound surface. Secondly, the track wouldn't have been ideal for a galloping sort such as himself who became a bit unbalanced when put under pressure up the straight. He returns to a course and surface he's proven at here at Wolverhampton and the polytrack and although he's yet to show as much over this trip, I still think it'll be right for him. He's still fairly handicapped I believe and I'd be very surprised if he didn't put in a better showing this afternoon.

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 7.45 SOUTHWELL ALPHA ARION @ 8/1 BET365 (BOG) .5ew This one wasn't knocked about much in a Doncaster maiden last time but ran ok without ever really being given a chance. This is a really poor race for his hcap debut and should have bags of improvement in him. Easterby is in great form with 4 winners from last 10 runners and I expect this to step up considerably on what he has shown so far.

Ponte called off, NR!!! *Flame Of The Glen - Uttoxeter 9:15* A very weak bumper here, and am going to back a horse e/w in an 8 runner field, looks like a nice race for an e/w bet. The Brennan yard had a bumper winner at this track 2 months ago which is interesting. Breeding suggests it can go on this ground too. When Tommy Phelan rides for him at this track, he is 1 win from 4 rides with a profit of +£30.00 to level stakes, courtesy of 33/1 winner Killala Quay in that bumper race. Backable at the price. *0.5 Points e/w @ 12/1 Bet365 BOG*

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 9.05 Southwell You wont find many weaker staying handicaps this summer than this one awful look about it. Cozy Tiger has form around here and has dropped a long way in the weights and infact 8lb lower than last winning mark but has pretty much failed to beat a rival this season and cannot be trusted to bounce back on fibresand. Astragal has shown nothing since debut, well held in handicaps again failing to beat a rival, handicapper taking a chance dropping her another 6lb and Fallon an interesting booking but looks best watched until showing she still retains some ability. Yas Marina showed nothing on one previous try around here and albeit at a different trip still needs to prove effectiveness on this surface. Lucas Pitt only has one win to his name way back in November 2010 and has pretty much showed nothing since worth noting until last time out when showing a little more in first time visor, needs to have the same effect this time round and on a very different surface. For me Carnac looks a safe bet in such a weak race. He handles this surface with 4 wins and is only 3lb above last winning mark having shaped a little disappointing on recent starts but return to this surface likely to suit and with very useful apprentice taking 7lb off his back he looks dangerous and could easily cruise past most of these turning in. 1pt win Carnac 11/4 VC

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 615 Uttoxeter: Cabimas (10/11 Bet365/Bfred) To be honest i expect Uttoxeter to be off but here goes anyway! The first race is an ordinary novice hurdle and don't think any of the horses bar the fav Cabimas will go on the ground? He won on his debut at Newton Abbot nicely and has form in Listed company on the flat in heavy ground from 2010, he can defy a penalty here with normal progression from his first run over hurdles. Lowry Maher is a big price at 14/1 and may be worth an EW bet if all 8 stand their ground??

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 2.15 WOLVERHAMPTON MAWJOODAH 4pts win @ 4/1 bog (Bet365) Won her only race in 11 starts on the AW last August over today's C&D and ran well always here at Wolverhampton over 6-7f in handicaps off 72-71-70 finishing always not too far from the winners (1-2L). Ran well again after the winter break (3rd beaten 3L in a handicap over 7f here at Wolverhampton racing off a mark of 70) and has been a bit unlucky twice since on the AW, here and at Kempton, and over a distance too short (5f) back on turf. Her mark dropped to 60 and so she can finally race down in a 0-60 class 6 handicap. This is surely her favourite track and distance and has got a good draw. Should go very close with the Brian Ellison's stable in very good form at the moment: 5 winners and 5 top 3 from their last 20 runners in the last fortnight.

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 Wolverhampton 3.15 - Yours Ever 1pts win 9/4 Sporting Bet Ran a much improved race lto at Kempton when upped in trip so the distance will prove no problem. She is racing off the same mark as well and she only went down a 1/4 of a length to Ruscello that day so every chance if repeating that run today. She has still only had four races and feel she looks like she should have enough to improve past most of these more exposed types.

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 BLUEBERRY FIZZ 2.15 Wolverhampton. 1 point win. Goes well on this surface and the trip's fine, so mix that with a weight that gives every chance of another win and there's no reason to look any further. Doesn't like winning, but worth a go today.

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 Missus Mills 2.45 Wolverhampton. 1 point win. Shouldn't win on form, but apparently capable of much better than showing and the cheek-pieces have been applied today. If they work then she should show a bit more like what's been expected. The drop in grade can only help also, so with no trip and surface worries, she could go in at a big price. 25/1 Bet365 (bog)

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 5:45 Wolverhampton - Thane of Cawdor 1pt win, 9/1 Ladbrokes. Dropped back in distance after disappointing maiden races and first handicap race despite costing a fair amount of money. Related to a US Grade 2 winner so hopefully more to come, especially running on the all weather for the first time today. Jamie Spencer booked so hopefully a signal of intent of a good run.

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 U8.15 Captain Scarlett 1pt Win 9/1 SportingBet This one showed improved form LTO on this kind of ground under todays jockey in an amateur riders race. The jockey gets to claim 7lb here and judging by the manner of that win and the money going on it before the off, I suspect that it can be fancied to go close tonight. The trainer is in great form and the handicap mark still looks like a winnable one for this unexposed horse.

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 17:45 Wolv Marksbury - When I last backed it so shall have a go again. Dual course winner including CD in April of 57. Has not done anything since and is now down to a mark of 58. With Jake Duern taking 7lbs off is at a handy mark. From stall 6 and with a fairly big field hoping to be prominent throughout. Ran 8F LTO and stayed on one paced. 0.5EW 20/1 paddy power.

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 20:35 Southwell PUNCHING 8-1 e/w (will hill BOG) Although 8 years of age, Punching's record at this course is brilliant : 10 wins , 13 places without winning. Drawn 1 which is the best place to be and running off 68, won at C&D in April off 69. The fav, Clear Spring goes up 5lbs, it's highest mark, but Beachwood Bay would be the big danger with the claimer reducing the weight below a winning mark. Again with me though, it's a case of 8-1 e/w or 7/2 on the nose and I'd sooner go with the value call.

Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 10th July 2012 8.15 Uttoxeter Kilmore West 1pt win @ 9/1 Boylesports This horse won last time out on heavy ground over a shorter trip. He needed the full race to get in front so the step up in trip should suit him here. His ability to handle the ground is a positive and he clearly comes here in good heart. The young jockey won on him last time out and although this is tougher, I fancy him to run well.
