erhaab1965
I love the flat , I marginally prefer it to to the jumps. What meetings / horses / clashes etc are you most looking forward in the coming months ? Obviously Frankel is on everybodys list so try to leave him out unless you have to. I'll kick off with hoping to see S D Sousa making a sustained effort to try and the Jockey Championship , he's a top class jockey in the making and I anticipate a good run for my money at 4/1. One horse I have my eye on from a punting point of view is trained by L Cumani and called Petrol , unplaced twice as a 2YO , if he's still in training then I expect at least another poor performance possibly with a inexperienced / poor jockey before being trained properly and winning some races. Night meetings at Chester or Haydock in the middle of summer with an ice cold beer in one hand and a pair of binoculars in the other , can't wait. Trotter
Re: Flat is back..........What are you looking forward to ? I just look forward to the big Group One races.......Guineas, Derby/Oaks, Royal Ascot, King George through to the Arc I've been specialising in handicaps mainly for the last couple of years but I've tempted to have a change of scenery and look more at the group races this year
south_eastern_ram
Re: Flat is back..........What are you looking forward to ? I've been looking forward to going to Folkestone this Thursday for ages. Nearly always a sh*t card, but first course i ever went to and i love it there.
Lars
Re: Flat is back..........What are you looking forward to ? Although I'm not a big player in them, I do look forward to all the Classic races, Guineas, Derby and even the Leger. Always a bit sad when it comes to Guineas day as I'm usually revising or something silly, on a poor internet connection in a library. Only had a small bet in last years Derby but Workforce the year before brings back happy memories (ended that night in a table dancing bar :rollin Alongside this, will be attending most of the bigger meetings at York, Thirsk and hopefully will get to some of the other Yorkshire tracks I haven't managed to get to. I don't generally bet much on-course anymore but I just generally go for the day-out, few beers, odd bet and watching the horses. When the weather is nice, not much else can beat it :ok
bowles10
Re: Flat is back..........What are you looking forward to ? im going to the Derby, but possibly most look forward to the handicaps at Royal Ascot as they are a puzzle to be solved no thoughts really on the stars for this year
mowgli77
Re: Flat is back..........What are you looking forward to ? Already booked 3 days off for the Dante meeting, looking forward to going to York for that, £40 for 3 days Grandstand entry is a bargain. Will probably take the week off for Royal Ascot, love the top class racing. I don't enjoy the Guineas that much, prefer it a few weeks later when form slowly starts to work out and I can focus on listed/group races. Ponty on a quiet Monday afternoon is a favourite of mine too. The awful ground and poor drainage at York can bugger up all known form, hope they have addressed it for this year. Aidymac
Re: Flat is back..........What are you looking forward to ? I am looking forward to the change of scenery the flat season brings, the big handicap fields that are a mystery to solve and to looking at the breath-taking speed the flat horses run at... A joy to behold

RussP
Re: Flat is back..........What are you looking forward to ? Just looking forward to it all. I love those Class 4/5 handicaps around the northern tracks, you get to know the horses pretty well. Nothing better than a trip to the races, beer in hand, sun beating down on you. Night racing too....getting home from work, knowing that you can sat down & get stuck into the racing until 9pm at night. From a horse perspective, I don't really follow the group stuff so will take a watching brief of the classics and hope for some exciting fare. Roll on the flat season getting into full swing. Woodie
Re: Flat is back..........What are you looking forward to ? Always love derby day it's the one day of the year down here don't matter if you havn't spoke to someone all year you know everyone is heading over the downs for the day and turns into a top day in the sun (usually) getting very merry! As to which horse looking to see Born to Sea/camelot to obvious ones but would be surpised if either of them didn't win a few classics this season. Obviously I'm very happy I called this one right, even though it was a season later than I expected , but the reason for highlighting this thread is not the fact I backed a winner but the under hand tactics employed by trainers to disguise a horses true ability. I'm gonna continue my point on my original Petrol thread.

Firstly Thank you for the last race, last night..6/1 e/w, then it was smashed off the boards...I ow you a beer or two. I am most looking forward to a 100% fit Ryan M,,,,I think he will take alot of beating for the Jockeys Champ...and I really think there will be some hidden gems in SIR MS yard were hcaps are concerned, such a bad season last year...he will come back with a bang. Agree with the summer nights...Disaster that Aintree has not got a flat meeting anymore...great track on the flat!

last minute winner
Re: Flat is back..........What are you looking forward to ? Cant wait for the November handicap! :p :rollin hahahhahah agreed. I'll probably enjoy a few lazy summer evenings at localish tracks for the night meetings and l keep saying im going to do the whole Monday evening cruise up to Windsor thing one year but other than that, the flat just doesnt stimulate me the same as jumps. That said, the tattersalls at Doncaster yesterday was packed full of the kind of pricks you associate with the flat meetings and it really boiled my piss. Tedthewolf
Re: Flat is back..........What are you looking forward to ? The big handicap puzzles every Saturday esp over the shorter distances, blink and you miss it but they take hours of work to try and find the winner but if you do its sooo satisfying and rewarding!
