BBOTD 26th of September

Pateese - Bath 6:00 Philip Hobbs and Jamie Spencer team up with this horse on the flat tomorrow and it seems it has a very big chance of winning if race-fit. Certainly looks the classiest horse in the race with it running in some top hurdles races, was 3rd in the Imperial Cup at Sandown back in March and has already won twice on the flat in France. First run at Bath tomorrow but will love the good to soft ground forecast for tomorrow and this is Hobbs only horse at Bath. Trainer is also in good nick with 4 winners from his last 13 runners and Spencer has a good record when riding for Hobbs, with 10 wins from 40 rides, a 25% strike-rate. I think the biggest danger is Salontyre which is available at 10/1 WIN @ 7/2 Hills BOG

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 15:40 Hamilton Penitent Win (3,00) William Hill There are a some great horses in this race and Penitent, will need to ride his best, if he wants to win. His main competitor Secrecy are in amazing form, whit 2 wins in his last 5 starts. The 5 year old gelding, havent won for a year now, but in this 5 horse field, he got a great chance to get back on winning ways. Penitent is wearing cheekpieces for the second time. His recent form is 4-3-5-5-3 but now he is back at a soft going, which previously have been to his advantage. The jockey Paul Hanagan, needs no presentation and his strike rate of 15,3 % speaks for it self. Trainer William Haggas booked Hanagan for 16 races so far. 50 % of them was won.

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 18:00 Bath SULA TWO is 2/2 at this course and although she's been a little out of sorts generally this season, conditions haven't fallen into place but she showed a lot more promise last time over 1m6f and is now handicapped to strike with plenty to suit. A winner over course and distance off 4lbs higher Oct 2010, she seemed to struggle with a mark in the 70's along with the fast ground or inadequate trip she faced. Dropped in the ratings as a result and showed last time at Wolverhampton she was coming back to something like her best, staying on well after travelling nicely in a competitive affair at Wolverhampton. Shaped as if she was crying out for this trip once again and she should run very well back to a track she likes. The booking of George Baker is a positive one as he was on board for one of those successes, has a fair strike-rate of 18% with the Ron Hodges yard alongside a level stakes profit of £41.13. The current odds of 12/1 are nigh on ridiculous in my view, as she should be 13/2 or so and even though this is quite a competitive little race, she's well-handicapped, runs best at this time of the year and looks to have been plotted out for this kind of race. Re: BBOTD 26th of September 3:20 Ffos Las - Superior Edge - e/w @ 20/1 (Bet365) This animal hasn't shown a thing since beginning to train with owner-turned-trainer Chris Mason. However, she's well handicapped on plenty of her 3 year old efforts and could be capable of bouncing back now dropped to a 0-70 h'cap for the first time ever. Ryan Powell takes off a handy 5lbs to leave her looking even better at the weights and the likely soft ground is very important to her. She has course form and a return to anything like her best would see her go close here. It's a risk of course but 20/1 is a nice price and about double what she should be, despite her obvious lack of recent form. Each-way play for me, and hopefully she'll go well.

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 3.50 Ffos Las West Brit - really interesting one, making his handicap debut. two runs ago was second at Sandown to Dare to Dance, a subsequent handicap winner off 86 who was the fav for the Cambs on sat till pulling out, and is now rated in the 90's. It was little surprise to see West Brit take second that day as he was less suited to the trip but this is more like it for him and he won in style at Newcastle last time. could be a good deal ahead of the handicapper off his present mark of 82. 10/3 Hills, 1 pt win

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 4.00 Bath Oriental Girl e/w SP This horse is pretty consistent and often runs well over CD. She has been dropped another lb since her last run and gets a change of headgear today which could put her mind on the job as she looked a tough ride last time out. Conditions shouldn't be a problem and she looks a good each way bet here.

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 4:40 Hamilton - Wicked Wilma Taking a chance here with the Alan Berry mare, who's raced 71 times in her career. She is back at cl5 today after several outings at cl4. Won her last race at this level and is also a multiple course and distance winner. She seems to respond well to fresh jockeys and Gary Bartley rides her for the first time. The owner has a cracking strike rate at Hamilton of 3 in 8 over the past five seasons, which is also another positive note. 14/1 win - Boylesports

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 5.10 Hamilton - Epic - 8/1 Best time to catch a Johnston runner, after he was pulled up last time out. Something obviously wrong that day and that hopefully sorted now. A lot of risk involved backing this one as he looks far from straight forward but if anywhere close to his best he could be too good for this field. No obvious pace in the race and you would think SDS would get this one at least prominent or at best with a soft lead. Handicapped on his form last year and showed he's still capable of winning races picking up a class 6 handicap at Wolverhampton two starts ago. Unproven on the ground so that another potential problem but has gone with a bit of cut before so im hoping he'll be alright.

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 3.00 Bath Snowed In is interesting now in nurserys. Decent win two races ago although that was weak but still has a chance here based on his last C/D nursey run. Got absolutely no luck in running then as he was being kept in by another horse and was unable to get a clear run. only beaten by two lengths or so and definitely would have got a lot closer with luck and is a pound lower today. Stables horses in good nick so every chance of a good run. 1 Pt win 9/1 Bet 365

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 240 Hamilton: Northern Bolt 1pt (9/4 PP) Poor days racing but Northern Bolt ought to run well in conditions that suit and being dropped to a claimer he is well off here. Tends to start slowly and finish like a train (a slow train) in this company he could get there in time and has ran well here before, worth a nibble in an awful race.

Re: BBOTD 26th of September H4.10 Baby Driver 0.5pt E/W 8/1 Bet365 Fingers crossed for no non-runners in this 8 runner handicap because this looks to have a great chance of finishing in the first three particularly since 3 or 4 look to be out of form or not up to the task. The horse has form on soft ground which will be all important and in my opinion the best apprentice in the race is on board today. The horse has also been dropped a little by the handicapper and there's been a little bit of money around for it this morning.

Re: BBOTD 26th of September Madam Isshe 2.30 Bath. 0.5 points each way. Annoying horse, who tries hard not to win, but the weights give her a big chance of being involved in the finish of this race, so with the trip and ground not a concern, she should be able to run her race and be involved in the outcome. Hopefully today she'll want it a little more. 13/2 Victor Chandler (bog)

Re: BBOTD 26th of September PHOENIX FLAME 3.10 Hamilton. 0.5 points each way. Gets in again off a mark of 54, and with being consistent enough, I like the fact they put a visor on today. That could improve him a pound or two and that can make all the difference. Handles the soft ground and Paul Hanagan riding as well as ever, so should run a big race. 9/2 Ladbrokes BOG

Re: BBOTD 26th of September Trainer Dandy Nicholls sends out just the one runner today up to Hamilton, the 7yr old ran a good race a few weeks ago at Ayr coming home 5th. When Dandy sends out the one they are normaly in with a shout at some prize money. Jockey Shirley Teasdale looks to have been hand picked for this sole ride. Hamilton 2:40 - Sonny Red 1pt win @ 5/1 Boylesports.

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 0.5 e/w honest and true 50/1 bet365 14.40 hamilton i have searched through todays racing looking for a big outsider to jump me up the leader board in bbotd and my search has stopped with honest and true @ 50/1 based on its last run 12 days ago, honest and true disputed the lead untill 2 furlongs out over a mile distance so todays distance(6 furlongs) could be right up its street, the 4th place twelve days ago tells me it should be fit and carrying slightly less on its back will help, sporting life have this as a 16/1 shot which i tend to agree with so 50/1 could represent some value, probably stroll in last but its getting my 50p e/w

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 3.00 Bath Enjoying win @ 11/2 Bet 365 Never really excelled in maidens but did shape well in first two starts in nurseries before finally getting off the mark over todays course and distance 3 weeks ago. Blinkers were fitted for the first time for that win and remain fitted today. Only goes up 2lb for that win and with stamina assured looks to have every chance here.

Re: BBOTD 26th of September Bath 6.00 - Raktiman - ew at 18/1 VC Few non runners have made this an easier race and raktiman looks too big at 18/1 Has a good track record here - 4 runs, 1 win, 3 seconds Won a 14f handicap at wolves two runs ago beating Sula Two by 4 lengths 9and that one is 5/1 at the moment !) then ran over a shorter trip last time out and was staying on one paced, looking as though he needs further Has finished 2nd here on g/s going and his record at Wolves suggests he should handle a bit of cut Looks a good EW shot !

Re: BBOTD 26th of September

It would be good fun if we had a 'race of the day' where we all studied the same form - just to see how different our conclusions are ! :rollin
Tell you what, thats a fantastic idea! Maybe BH would like that idea.. Pick a good handicap every day and people participate in giving opinions about the race in which you make up your own mind what you think will win and plenty of reasoning to back it up?

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 15:20 FFos Las Superior Edge - With the jockeys saying the going is soft and very soft I have whittled this race down to four horses whose best runs have been on the soft. No's 1,4,7 + 8. I am opting for each way value with the top weight whose three runs here have yielded 3 seconds. At a career low of 70 won off 72. 0.5EW 20/1 bet365

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 5.10 Hamilton - Ritsi ew 16/1 Bet365 Ritsi looks interesting of the outsiders , 24lbs to find with top rated on OR but appreciates ground with some cut , with burkes claim is 3lbs higher than last place 1f longer at course and burkes had a good tune out of fifes horses of late , riding to a win and a 4th in a 25 runner h.cap horse hasnt been overly tried at this distance and fav looks weak

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 6:00 Warne's Way @ Bath - This horse loves the mud and will love the softer ground today compared to the firmer ground LTO.Runs off 130 as a hurdler and has a good jockey onboard in Tom Queally.Trainer Brendan Powell has a 19% strike rate with 4+ year olds this year and this one can go close at a good price. 0.5pt E/W @ 12/1 Ladbrokes

Re: BBOTD 26th of September 5.10 Hamilton: Epic 1pt win @ 11/2 VC Bet BOG Going to take a chance on this Johnston horse. Won well on penultimate start before blowing up completely LTO and pulled up. Wouldn't be the first time that a horse from this stable has shown rollercoaster form such as this by winning, blowing up, then winning again and from, what is still a lenient handicap on best known form I think this previous C&D winner is well worth a punt at the current odds.
