Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Anderson/Knowle vs Tsonga/Mahut 1 @2,50 Goldbet. I take the first two tennis players to play against mahut that today against verdasco had problems to a knee that influenced a lot the match.. knowle and anderson have little match together but on grass they are not badly, good service for anderson. Sorry for the mistakes of writing. I used http://www.freetranslation.com/

Ya defeating those players is so sick' date=' I think he'll win the whole thing.[/quote'] They were in convincing straight sets and he beat Cilic 3 years ago on grass in straight sets when he was also ranked outside the top 100. I don't see how Cilic's game has changed much since then TBH either...

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 I've taken three for now, probably will take more in the morning but the markets aren't available yet so we'll see. Milos Raonic vs Tobias Kamke- Raonic -4.5 handicap- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10) Taken the same bet with Raonic as I did today against Andujar where he motored in the second set and won with ease in the end. His serve wasn't under too much threat at any point in the match and I don't see Kamke having the return skills to trouble Raonic's serve either today. Kamke on the quicker surfaces this year has had some really indifferent form. At times he has shown glimpses of what he can do, but so often with the German he throws in some complete shockers and he is the kind of guy who will get frustrated in matches if things aren't going his way. He was lucky today with Reister retiring, so he still hasn't had alot of practice on the grass after coming back from the clay courts. In his last few matches on the hard courts before he moved onto clay, he was hammered and I'd fancy Raonic with upcoming talent to win this one with some ease so I'll back him with the handicap for the second day in a row. Daniel Gimeno-Traver vs Philipp Petzschner- Petzschner -4.5 handicap- 4/5 Bet365- (4/10) Really like the German in this one to record another win in front of the home crowd. Gimeno-Traver away from the clay, has had an utterly shocking season, failing to win a single match on the quicker hard courts against some pretty average players and although he managed to get some wins on the clay courts, he struggled again today against Golubev, who has been equally poor this year, where he got hammered in the first set 6-1, but luckily Golubev was mentally weak enough to allow him back into the match and take the third set with relative ease. Petzchner although looking a touch patchy today against a fellow German in Meffert, got the job done in straight sets and we saw last year what a capable player he is on grass. He made the semis here last year, so he has points to defend, and with the crowd behind him, and the complete contrast of the two players form this year, I fail to see him winning this one comfortably. He took Nadal to 5 sets at Wimbledon last year and a performance anywhere near that he should romp to victory tomorrow. Kevin Anderson vs Donald Young- Anderson -4.5 handicap- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10) Thought about taking Anderson earlier to beat Karlovic but left it alone but I fancy him again tomorrow to get the job done. He played well in a tricky match with Karlovic today, serving well and obviously returning well to manage to break Karlovic and provide some opportunities for himself on return. He was mightily impressive on the hard courts before the clay, and the grass should suit him nicely as well. He didn't have a great grass season last year, but did show glimpses in his marathon with Davydenko to what he can do. Young has fared well this year in the challenger events, but when faced against the better players, he has struggled bar his match with Murray. He was creamed last week on the grass courts by a guy ranked outside the top 150, and dropped a set again today to Haider-Maurer. Anderson will be a complete step up in class for the American and unless he ups his game by a considerable amount, he'll struggle to trouble big Kev tomorrow. Anderson has won the last 4 matches between the two, including one earlier this year and I'll back him to make it 5 in a row and win the match by at least 5 games.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12

Does anyone know why Paddy Power isn't doing Handicaps for these two 250 events? (Halle and Queens) Aside from the Cilic and Nadal matches there's nothing more than set betting. I might have to take my puntsom elsewhere if they aren't going to be a little more open minded with their betting range.
Every self-respecting punter should be having his bets placed on more than 1 bookie. You know that, right?

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Viktor Troicki - Igor Andreev: Pick: Troicki -4 (8/10) Odds: 2.01 (Pinnacle) Now this is a bet I really like. Both players having played matches already on the grass. Troicki really smashing Zverev 62 63, who has a pretty good serve. Now Andreev is a player I like on the clay courts, but this guy also hasn't impressed me on the red dirt either. He now comes off a win versus Potito Starace who really is a mug on grass if you ask me. Troicki will be hard to break with his good serve. Also think Troicki will dominate the match with his forehand and don't think Andreev can keep it up too long and the handicap will be won comfortably.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Tomas Berdych - Jan Hernych: Pick: Hernych +5 (7/10) Odds: 1.88 (Pinnacle) Yesterday T-Bird played like a clown yesterday in the first 2 sets and somehow Bemelmans gave it away playing silly shots on decisive moments. T-Bird failed to make easy forehands that went in the net or behind the baseline. Facing 3 match points Berdych managed to recover and win the 2nd set, 3rd set was just a formality and he closed it comfortably as all believe for Bemelmans was gone. On the other hand we have Hernych who I think is a bit of a clown really. But he did show some okay stuff against Stakhovsky and managed to get a good win on his hand in 3 sets. H2H 2-0 in the favour of T-Bird, 1 also in Halle 64 75 in 2009 and I see something similar for today.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12

Plus she has a dick:tongue2
She had, once upon a time :D. Perhaps that's why she's missing the "r" in her name at Pinnacle site, hahaha. She is Gronert, but they list her as Gronet. Anyway, I am adding Grone®t (+4.5 games) to bt Riske @Pinnacle 1.926 edit: also considering a shot against Del Potro. In his yesterday's match against Istomin, DelPo was rather shaky, to say at least. About half dozen of times he slipped on the grass when moving around the court, and only thanks to the utterly pathetic performance of Istomin, the result does look as if he had rolled (64 62), which is not true. DelPo had a medical timeout also after one slip where he apparently harmed his left hamstring. Any opinions? Is Kunitsin able to take advantage? What do the others think?

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Sport Tennis Event Alla Kudryavtseva - Casey Dell'Acqua Selection Casey Dell'Acqua(+2.5)game handicap (Asian-handicap) Strength 4/10 Date 08/06/2011 Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 1.91 Reasoning Kind of lacking ideas for today, so will try this bet as a starting point with low stakes. Casey Dell'Acqua has been struggling with injuries off late as she missed most of last 2 seasons and the start of this year as well. On a good day she can be a really tough opponent. But those days seem few and far between them lately. In the 1st round she struggled against Sandra Zahlavova. She won 7-5 7-6 in a match filled with breaking opportunities. Dell'Acqua was more efficient as she converted 5 of the 6 break points, while Sandra only managed 4 out of 8. The 2nd set tie-break won 7-5 confirmed the win for Dell'Acqua. Zahlavova however was very inefficient with her 2nd serve, and made 7 dfs to top it out. Kudryavsteva usually performs well on grass. Afterall she did make a couple of surprises on this type of court as she even defeated Maria Sharapova in straight sets at Wimbledon a couple of years ago. Unlike Dell'Acqua, she had a much easier game in the 1st round against Alizee Cornet. She only struggled a bit in the 1st set as both players exchanged 3 breaks of serve to get to a tie-break which Alla won quite comfortably 7-2. She had a good percentage of points on 1st serves won, 69%, on 2nd serves it was also decent 45%. On the other hand she returned the ball really well as Cornet had below 50% total ponts won on her own serve, and Kudryavtseva didn't have much problems dealing with the first serves. But Dell'Acqua in a good day can win this match, she also serves better than Cornet, and should provide a tough match to Kudryavtseva. So, I'm willing to gamble a bit on her.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 AEGON Championships - Stepanek to beat Ljubicic @ 2.1 (bet365) Two veterans of the tour go head to head here and I'm quite surprised to see Ljubicic as favourite with the bookies. Stepanek has a better career grass court record than him and leads the head to head 2-1. Ljubicic has always possessed the weapons to do well on grass but never quite cut the mustard. He looked very iffy to me in his first round victory over Sweeting. Haven't seen a lot of Stepanek this year but he seems to be doing alright and comfortably dispatched Soeda in the first round. Ljubicic always looks uncomfortable on a grass court and I think he'll be troubled by Stepanek's unorthodox style and variety. Ljubicic's superior serve should ensure this is a close match and I was hoping to play overs on the total games but can't see any value in that market. Stepanek is the slight favourite in my opinion so I see value in 2.1 and am backing him to do the business.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Sport Tennis Event Heather Watson - Misaki Doi Selection Heather Watson Strength 10/10 Date 08/06/2011 Bookmaker/Price 5Dimes @ 1.40 Reasoning Watson defeated Chanelle Scheepers in the 1st round 6-3 7-5. She made a slow start but recovered well saving 5 break points and winning the 1st set after converting both chances to break. She covers the court very well, nice footwork, she is an intelligent player and possible a future top player. Not to mention she already seems to have the mental strength. Misaki Doi plays 95% of her matches on fast courts. In the 1st round she dispatched of Romanian Edina Gallovits much more easier than expected. 6-4 6-2. She was pretty efficient with her first serve, winning 71% of the points while she also returned the ball very well winning over 50% of points played on the Romanian's serve. But Watson will be a much tougher task here. She is a British player first of all and Grass courts come natural for her. She also has the weapons to become at the very least a decent player. All in all I don't believe that Doi can surprise here, but I don't dare taking the handicap, as a win is a win. Sport Tennis Event Ekaterina Makarova - Tamira Paszek Selection Makarova(-3.5)game handicap (Asian-handicap) Strength 10/10 Date 08/06/2011 Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 1.72 Reasoning Makarova had a good tournament at Roland Garros as she reached the 4th Round and defeated good players like Kaia Kanepi, Johanna Larsson and Romina Oprandi on the way. And she doesn't even like Clay that much. She is more into fast courts, as she has a good serve, powerfull shots and a good movement as well especially on grass. Last year she surprised everyone as she won the Eastbourne tournament beating top players all the way. Azarenka, Kuznetsova, Petrova, Mirza, Penneta and Stosur. That says enough about her potential. Oh... and she did it by playing 3 qualifying matches as well, and didn't lost a single set. Tamira Paszek had problems on serve against Sania Mirza in the 1st set. Her first serve was only around 47%, she made 5 DFS and was lucky that her opponent served just as poorly as her. Paszek was broken 4 times, while breaking 7 times as well. If Makarova continue the form she showed at Roland Garros, she shall have no problem in winning here and covering the handicap as well.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Taken a further 3 today, considered the Simon handicap but I'm not sure how that match will play so left it alone. Rafael Nadal vs Matthew Ebden- Ebden +5.5 handicap- 11/10 Ladbrokes- (4/10) Going agains Rafa with the handicap here as I'm doubtful he can be at 100% from last week. We already know that Federer withdrew because he needs the rest and although Nadal is the fitter of the two, he's bound to still be suffering with a touch of fatigue despite playing doubles last night. He's obviously not as good on grass as he is on the clay, although he is still exceptional on the surface, he does have a tendancy to be a bit rusty in his first few match on the grass as we saw last year. He was beaten by Lopez in straights at Queen's, and Istomin also pinched a set off him before that. At Wimbledon he was rusty as well in the early rounds, being taken to 5 sets by Haase and Petzschner so he does have that habit of starting slowly on the grass which could see Ebden keep this relatively close. The Australian has already come through the qualifiers here and impressively beat Devvarman yesterday so he'll know how the courts are playing and should be comfortable early doors whilst Nadal finds his feet. He has already beaten Istomin this year, and kept it close against Gasquet and I just fancy him to not roll over today and keep it tight for the majority. As long as he serves well which he can do, one break in each set could see the handicap through. Juan Martin Del Porto vs Igor Kunitsyn- Del Porto -5.5 handicap- Evens Ladbrokes- (4/10) Do really like Del Porto here and if the handicap was a game or so lower I would have gone in heavily but I still fancy him to cover the (5.5) handicap as well. He didn't really have to do anything special to beat Istomin yesterday, but he looked good and comfortably took care of that one despite having an injury scare at one point. We saw last week against Djokovic that he is returning to his best, and although he still isn't there, he should be way too much for Kunitsyn. The Russian was lucky in the first round as Bogomolov retired in the second set tie break but for that was an extremely tight affair that could have gone either way. Kunitsyn can be competitive against players around the same level, but when up against the higher ranked players he does struggle, examples of that include Roddick and Troicki beating him easily last year on grass. With Del Porto returning to some form, don't see him failing to win this one with some ease like he has done in their past 2 meetings, winning in straight sets and covering the handicap and I fancy him to do the same again today. Xavier Malisse vs Andy Murray- Over 20.5 games- 4/5 Bet365- (4/10) It was either this or the Malisse handicap but gone for the overs as Malisse is quite as likely to keep one set close, or pinch it, then lose the next two without fighting, he's that kind of player. Malisse is no mug on the grass either and will trouble Murray in parts. He beat Djokovic here last year, and got to the quarters where he lost to Querrey. He'll enjoy being on the main court in front of the cameras and the crowd and Murray won't have everything his own way. Another thing that influences the overs is Murray's fitness, which is still dodgy to say the least. He had to come off the courts during practice yesterday due to his ankle hurting, so there's no guarantees to what shape the Scot is in, however he did play doubles yesterday so I'm guessing he should be okay. I do think he will win this one, but Malisse is good enough to keep this tight and bring the overs in, like their match a few weeks back in Rome where Murray won in 3.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Sport Tennis Event Milos Raonic - Tobias Kamke Selection Raonic(-4)game handicap Strength 10/10 Date 08/06/2011 Bookmaker/Price 188bet @ 1.67 Reasoning Raonic simply demolished Pablo-Andujar in the 1st Round 6-3 6-1. He didn't face a single break point, won 88% of points played on first serves as well as 65% points played on second serve. The reason is rather simple, he has a bomb first serve, and his second isn't way weaker, as a result he does make some DFS from time to time, 2 in the first round, but overall the risk pays out as he rarely has trouble keeping serve. Tobias Kamke took profit of Reister's resignation in the 1st Round. But till he retired the match had a WTA style in it. 3 DFS for each player, Kamke with only 45% first serves in, 1 break for Reister and 2 for Kamke. If he gives a break to Raonic it's good bye set. Overall his season so far has been poor, while for Raonic it's his best so far. Kamke can put up a fight, but I doubt he will manage to keep close in both sets with on-fire Raonic here. So the -4GH just to be on the safe side.

Hewitt vs L Mayer - Gerry Webber Open (Halle) - Hewitt 2-0 - 8/11 - Paddy Power - Strength 9.5/10 - Moderately big stakes

Grass court specialist Leyton Hewitt comes up against a lucky loser from the qualifiers for the tournament, Leonardo Mayer. Mayer lost to World Ranked number 206 Cedrik-Marcel Stebe. This is far from Mayer's best surface and whilst he may possess a big serve that is well complimented on the grass, his inability to deal with sliced balls that will skid speedily across this surface is something that stands out for me. Taking this point in mind he'll be up against someone who is renownd for maneuvering the ball and his opponent in tandem around the court, from side to side , changing up play and then unleashing on the easy winner into the open court. Hewitt's experience and guile will see him home quite comfortably in an easy 2 set victory.

WIN. :clap It was as if Hewitt had never been away, the guy hasn't earn't legendary status on grass for nothing :notworthy Unbelieveable that Berdych can be favourite to win the tournament @ 10/3 - Last time I checked Hewitt was out @ 8's or 9's.

Yeah good tip' date=' won me a few quid so cheers, and i agree Hewitt looked pretty decent. :ok[/quote'] No worries :cheers and he always does on the grass, doesn't he? Doesn't matter what form he's in or how long he's been out, on grass he is a force to be reckoned with. I'd fancy him heavily against any player over a best of 5 set match at Wimbledon excluding the top 4, that's how well accomplished he is on the surface.

Bopana & Qureshi vs Brown & Monfils - Gerry Webber (Halle) - Bopana & Quereshi - 1/2 - Paddy Power - Strength 9/10 - VERY HIGH STAKES

This Indian pairing has had a fabulous year, only just losing out to the Bryan brother @ the French on the clay which you would have to deem their weakest surface as a pair. There strengths are there cat and mouse play at the net and whilst Monfils and Brown both possess big serves they are not on par with the Indian partnership in volleying terms. Monfils must have entered the doubles purely to get some doubles practice, so I expect to see him to be going for stupid and unrealistic shots in aid of impressing the crowd from time to time, he does this even in singles grandslam matches, what's to stop him in a 250 event in doubles?

Cilic vs Clement - Aegon Championships (Queens) - Clement - 7/4 - Paddy Power - Strength 5/10 - Small to Medium stakes

This match up see's grass court veteren Armond Clement up against the insanely eratic and in-convincing Cilic and my god is he in-convincing. Clement comes into this match on the back of a respectable French Open campaign, albeit Clay isn't his best surface and he's nearing the end of his career the guy did the French proud. On to the grass, you would suspect he'd fair a lot better based on the evidence its his best surface and the rallies will be less long. I have always been impressed with Clement's defense and I can see him making quite a few returns from Cilic's bullet first serve (which he is so dependant on) Whilst we've got here Clement a guy that's reached the Quarter Finals of Wimbledon and almost the semi's - Cilic has done nothing on the surface, you would think with his flat ground-strokes and bullet first serve the grass would serve him well, but it just hasn't. You need to be mentally sharp and be switched on at all times on grass, because breaks are that so much more crucial, things can change in moments, this all spells negative for Cilic, as he has displayed signs of possessing the attention span of an 8 year old on Haribo. Cilic also lacks defensive skills, he is very prone to double faults and isn't the best mover, I predict he'll be slipping on the fresh grass tomorrow also, which won't bring any confidence to his game.

LOST. :cry :eyes Diabolical performance by both player's really, but especially Clement, only thing keeping Cilic from not losing this was his serve, no question. Going to back against the bloke in future rounds here and @ Wimbledon.

Murray vs Malisse- Aegon Championships (Queens) - Murray Total Games Under 12.5 - Evens - Paddy Power - Strength 6/10 - Small Stakes

Malisse is okay on grass and has had a good run @ Wimbledon, however he comes up against an Andy Murray buoyed by his efforts @ Roland Garros and the home crowd! He'll want to make a major impact with his first match back on the grass and I can see the crowd helping him through to a quite easy win. Under 12.5 games for Murray would mean 6-4/6-3/6-2/6-1/6-0 in the first followed by one of the same 5 scorelines in the second, 50/50 you would say against Malisse who we know possesses a fair bit of talent and is in good form but @ Even money its definitely worth a small punt.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Radek Stepanek vs Ivan Ljubicic 2pts Ivan Ljubicic to win - 11/10 with Betfred Can't ignore the price on Ljubicic here. The big man comes here in good shape having made the last 16 at Roland Garros where he put up a good fight against Rafael Nadal in parts of their match. He beat Querry and Verdasco in the early rounds so is in good form and the fact he has beat the likes of Baghdatis, Berdych and Tsonga earlier in the year also backs up the thought that he still has the ability to beat the better players on any surface. Stepanek has done ok lately too. He beat some tricky opponents on the way to the semi finals in Munich just before Roland Garros and got some more wins under his belt in a challenger tournament. If it was me pricing this up i would have had Ljubicic odds on and Stepanek at this price. I think Ljubicic's good form in France can be carried on here and if he starts firing those first serves in regularly Stepanek will have a job on trying to break him. Small/Medium stake because i think it will be a tight match.

Nice win here. Berdych still not feeling comfortable on the grass. Really curious for the odds and lines in the next round vs Troicki. Could be nice to oppose T-Bird on decent odds.
