    St Johnstone vs Aberdeen

OK, so that was a lucky escape this week in this section. I was slightly off (6 goals to be precise!) with the outcome but I was saved by the Daryl Murphy goal for Bolton. The second preview in this section will hopefully be a little bit more convincing with St Johnstone versus Aberdeen in the Scottish Premier League. Kick-off is 3pm GMT on Sunday afternoon at McDiarmid Park.

St Johnstone are enduring a tough campaign in the league this season. Tommy Wright's men are bottom of the table after results went against them today. A mid-table finish equivalent to last season is looking less and less likely with every passing game. Two wins against Hamilton and Hearts suggested an upturn in results but that was swiftly ended by a 4-1 loss at home to Hibernian in their most recent game. The fact the team has only won 2 of their 7 home league games does not make for attractive reading for their fans.

Aberdeen continue to consolidate their role as the third best team in Scotland behind Celtic and Rangers. Derek McInnes has steered his team into 3rd and they are now 2 points clear of Motherwell with a game in hand. Three wins on the bounce in the league has helped the Dons to move up into the Europa League qualification spots. The team also boasts a solid away record having won 4 of their 7 league matches on the road.

I think given the price the away side are being made available at then it makes total sense to back them for the win. The ELO ratings support this and the form of both teams backs this. I've said more than once on here that I really rate McInnes as a manager and I think 3rd place is now Aberdeen's to lose. They've won their last 3 league games away from home and I think they'll extend that to four matches here.

    Aberdeen to Win @ 2.10

Total Goals Scored Under 2.5 @ 1.73 with Marathonbet

I'm on the Aberdeen win as well @StevieDay1983, St Johnstone are a poor side. Hibs pretty much dominated for the full 90 minutes against them, if anything, the scoreline flattered St Johnstone, it could easily have been 5 or 6.

  2. Edinburgh v Elgin.

With Edinburgh landing last weeks max bet, I think it could pay to side with them again this week. Elgin are on a decent run of form against sides lower down the table but Edinburgh usually take care of any team outside the top 3. Even money at home looks a cracking bet to me.

    Edinburgh @ 2.00 (Hills) - 2 pts.

    St Johnstone v Hibs.

After the long overdue sacking of manager Paul Heckingbottom during the week, the odds on the away win could now be quite generous here. A couple of the backroom staff are taking the team today and if they set up the same as Heckingbottom did then I won't be touching it. If there's changes to the formation and line up then I'll assess it and get back on here with my thoughts after the teams have been announced, around 2pm.

    Montrose v Forfar.

A look at the form book tells you all you need to know about this game. Montrose have won 5 in a row, Forfar have lost 5 in a row. Has to be a home win. It can't be so straightforward, can it?

    Montrose @ 1.88 (Hills) - 1 pt.

  3. Hamilton v Hibernian

There's been a definite improvement at Hibs in the last couple of games, the latest being a draw away to Aberdeen, which, while being a decent result, really should've been 3 points, Christian Doidge being the main culprit in front of goals, missing 3 or 4 good chances. At least we're making those chances now though. I think if we play to that level today then a much needed win could be on the cards here, I thought odds of 2.00 would be about right so i'm happy to take the slight value.

    Hibs @ 2.05 (Hills) - 1 pt.
