  1. Hibs were superb for 70 minutes on Friday night and could easily have been 5 or 6 up if it wasn't for the Hamilton goalie playing a blinder, we then got a bit sloppy, conceding a penalty then an own goal but it was far more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.

    St Johnstone v Celtic.

Obviously there's a gulf in quality between the two sides here, if Celtic turn up then there's only one outcome, I can't believe how big the odds are for Celtic beating the -1 handicap. Obvious value here.

    Celtic -1 @ 2.10 - 2pts.

  2. Celtic v Hibernian.

Hibs travel to Parkhead today with the same team that drew with Rangers last week, it's an attacking 352 lineup, so an open high scoring game looks on the cards. The odds for the Hibs win is the same as last week and you have to think that's overpriced. I'm pretty much thinking the same way as last week also, Hibs could win this and at the odds you have to back it. I think they'll definitely score at least once and feel pretty confident for a max bet.

    Hibs @ 9.50 - 0.5pt.

    Hibs +2 @ 1.80 - 4pts.

    Hibs to score @ 1.80 - 4pts.

Big game today @allyhibs. I'm still amazed that Hibs are at such long odds to win. Granted, I understand that the victory is unlikely but the value it opens up in the handicap market is well worth taking a look at.

I did consider a handicap bet Steve but it would've meant higher stakes at lower odds, probably. I wanted to keep the stakes down as wasn't massively confident, turned a good profit in the end though.

    WTF Aberdeen!!!!!

  4. Hibernian v Rangers.

It looks to me like Hibs are lining up to have a go at Rangers today so could see a few goals scored. Rangers have looked pretty decent so far this season, they've not conceded a goal yet but I think that ends today, I'd back this Hibs team to score against anyone. They're missing a couple of they're first picks today, also a couple of days after a European trip, this could be a good time to play them, I'm not saying Hibs will definitely win this but they have more of a chance than the odds are suggesting.

    Hibs @ 9.00 - 0.5pt.

    Hibs To Score First Half @ 3.25 - 1pt.

    Aberdeen v Motherwell.

Aberdeen look decent odds here, Motherwell have been weakened with the sale of Turnbull and don't look like the side they were last season, the usual dull 1-0 to Aberdeen grind looks on the cards.

    Aberdeen @ 2.00 - 1pt.

  5. St Mirren v Hibernian.

It doesn't matter who's in goals for St Mirren, Hibs should be winning this.

Alex Gogic was a big miss in the last game against Aberdeen, he's back today to add some much needed steel in midfield. Scott Alan, who's been strangely out of sorts so far this season is out, replaced by new signing Jamie Murphy and Kevin Nisbit is back from injury after missing the last 2 games as Hibs revert back to 2 up front. That's 3 improvements to the team right there.

After 6 games Hibs have still not conceded a goal from open play (2 penalties, 1 direct free kick so far), with St Mirren not exactly prolific in attack, 1 goal from Hibs could win this and we look strong in the forward areas today, I think we'll win comfortably.

    Hibs @ 1.73 - 4pts.

    Hibs -1 @ 2.90 - 0.5pt.

St Mirren without first second and third choice keepers due to COVID. Hibs at 1.8 still but will be interesting to see who, if anyone, St Mirren bring in on emergency loan or if they go with a youth player. Hibs (-1) is 3.25

St Mirren have brought in Hearts keeper Zlamal on loan. I'm going to wait for Hibs team news before i post my thoughts, leaning towards a max bet on Hibs.

    Denmark vs England

The final preview of our UEFA Nations League coverage for this window is the Group A2 clash between Denmark and England in a 7:45pm BST kick-off on Tuesday night from the Parken Stadium. These two nations experienced contrasting fortunes in their opening round of matches but they'll both be looking to come away with a win in this one for very differing reasons.

Denmark suffered a 2-0 loss at home to Belgium in their opening game and it was a match that they were never really looking like winning. Head coach Kasper Hjulmand replaced former gaffer Age Hareide despite the team qualifying for the 2020 European Championship. Hjulmand comes with a decent reputation from his time managing FC Nordsjaelland but their performance in his first game a few days ago will leave many Danish fans feeling underwhelmed. Denmark have scored in 9 of their last 11 matches so failing to score against Belgium was a disappointment and a concern.

England have once again had their own demons to deal with heading into this game. Harry Maguire was controversially arrested for attempting to bribe police officials in Greece and then the duo of Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood were caught sneaking local Icelandic girls into their team hotel over the weekend. Head coach Gareth Southgate will deal with that slack in team discipline as he sees fit but he knows his team will need to perform better than they did away against Iceland when they needed an injury time Raheem Sterling penalty to get the win... and a missed Iceland penalty! The Three Lions have now conceded in 8 of their last 14 away matches but they have won 6 of their last 7 competitive matches.

This is a tough one. Something doesn't feel right about England at the moment. I was expecting much better from them in the game a few days back and they let a lot of us down. This is an opportunity for the players to step up and silence the critics. Denmark are a team in transition under Hjulmand and I'm not sure we'll see a vintage performance from the hosts. If England can start well with a fast tempo then they should take the win comfortably but I have a feeling it could be another laborious job with England crawling over the line.

    BTTS @ 1.92 with VBet

I think tonights game will suit England better than the one at the weekend, Iceland sit in and make it very difficult to break them down, Denmark will be more open I think, that suits England and I think they're a nice price for the win.

Well, that was close but the win came through and you're now undefeated in 5 games. Don't know what all the pessimism is about, Ally! :lol

Scotland were very lucky to win that, a man of the match performance from our goalkeeper tells you everything, another poor performance with players played out of position and a couple of our best players on the bench (McGinn and Tierney, wtf!!!!). Clarke doesn't have a clue and the players look like they're not buying into his ideas, Czechs first team would have destroyed us.

  9. Here's another Scotsman who thinks England should stroll it against Iceland, in normal times with fans etc and not in what is essentially pre season for the players, this could easily be a 5 - 0 job. It should still be a straightforward England win though, England -1 looks like printing money.

Yesterday Scotland were odds on and that was a no bet for me but the odds have drifted out to even money now and I'm tempted. It'll be really strange in an empty Hampden Park but I think the last line in @StevieDay1983 post above sums it up, it'll be hugely disappointing if Scotland don't win, I think there's value in the odds.

Like @duckmaster, I've also had a little punt on SJM ( Super John McGinn) to score anytime @ 4.00, simply because I love the guy, the massive Hibs legend that he is. (McGinn not duckmaster, obvs).

  10. Motherwell v Hamilton.

I was impressed with Motherwell last week against Hibs, they're a very well organised, tough side who'll dominate midfield against most teams in this league, their 2 midfielders, Turnbull and Campbell are 2 cracking young players who look like future stars, especially Turnbull.

This looks like a straightforward home win to me against a Hamilton side who are already starting to look like the leagues whipping boys.

    Motherwell HT/ FT @ 2.30 - 2pts.

It was certainly a game that should have ended 0-0 given the way it went. Shocked that Aberdeen managed to sneak the win. St Johnstone paying for their impotence in front of goal. I'm just glad the under 1.5 goals call came in! :lol

How are you feeling about Hibs this weekend mate?

I was a bit daft with the red card bet, thought i'd take a punt on the higher odds, Under 1.5 goals was the obvious bet to go for :wall. Typical Aberdeen performance, spoil and foul your way through 90 minutes and somehow grab an undeserved winner.

I'll be disappointed if Hibs don't win on Sunday Steve, we're a better side than St Johnstone.

    St Johnstone vs Aberdeen

The Scottish Premiership weekend begins early this week with St Johnstone hosting Aberdeen in a 7:30pm BST kick-off on Thursday at McDiarmid Park. This is one of the visitor's catch-up games after they were forced to suspend their games for a couple of weeks when a number of players broke lockdown rules and a couple of players tested positive for covid-19 for doing so. Numpties.

St Johnstone have had a solid start to their campaign. Callum Davidson had a tough act to follow as he succeeded Tommy Wright but it's been par for the course so far. The club is in 7th place with 1 win, 1 draw, and 1 defeat up until now. That one loss is the only defeat the club has suffered since February. It is also just 1 loss in their last 9 home matches. There is a quiet sense of optimism floating around the Saints fan forums regarding this game but with another crunch clash against Hibernian on Sunday you have to wonder if the team have what it takes to get a result from both games.

Aberdeen haven't played since the opening weekend of the season and that's certain to have some negative effects with players unlikely to be match fit. Derek McInnes knows he'll come into this game with a number of players unavailable reportedly including Sam Cosgrove, Bruce Anderson, Curtis Main, Ryan Edmondson, Andrew Considine, Scott McKenna, and Michael Devlin. Those are some big absentees in attack and defence for the Dons. By all accounts, McInnes will set up his team to get a point and look to smash and grab a win.

The away side have only won 1 of their last 6 matches between these two sides. St Johnstone come into this game with their own fragile issues at the back but surely they have to fancy their chances at home against an Aberdeen team that haven't played a competitive game in a couple of weeks and have a long injury list. It'll take all of McInnes's managerial wizardry to get his team the win here and I think the lack of attacking threat for the visitors will see the home side sneak a win.

St Johnstone Draw No Bet @ 2.00 with BetVictor

Total Goals Scored Under 1.5 @ 2.63 with Betfair

This has 0-0 draw written all over it.

Aberdeen are a horrible team at the best of times, fouling and spoiling their way through games every week but when they're missing their main goal threats and toiling for match sharpness then you can bet that this'll be even worse than normal.

I don't think St Johnstone are up to much either so I can't back them, they're a pretty physical side as well so this could be a game for lots of fouls I think, it certainly won't be game for anyone wanting to see a game of football.

My prediction - 2 teams kicking the crap out of each other in the middle of the park, zero excitement.

My bet - Under 1.5 goals is a great shout @StevieDay1983 but I've went for Red Card @ 5.50.

    Barcelona vs Bayern Munich

The Champions League Quarter-Final action continues for another night here when La Liga runners up Barcelona host Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in an 8pm BST kick-off on Friday night at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon. European ties don't get much bigger than this and we'll see one of the favourites for this competition go out here. The winners will play the victors of the Manchester City versus Lyon clash.

Barcelona have had a season to forget simply because they lost out to Real Madrid in the battle for the league title. Quique Setien managed to avoid a potential banana skin in the last round with a 4-2 aggregate win over Napoli. This is a whole new proposition though. Defensive issues continue to plague this Barcelona side with the Catalan team only managing to keep two clean sheets in their 8 Champions League matches so far. If Barcelona win this and reach the Semi-Finals then it will be the first time they have reached that stage of the competition in two consecutive seasons since their 2012/13 run.

Bayern Munich are looking very strong right now. Hans-Dieter Flick's side humiliated Chelsea in the previous round by a 7-1 score-line. The Bavarian side now look to continue an 18-game winning run against the Spanish team. It's a Bayern team that is full of goal scoring potential with an average of 3.9 goals scored per game in the Champions League this season and boast a 100% record in this competition. The Germans haven't won this competition since their success in the 2012/13 season but they are arguably in their strongest position yet to break that duck.

This will be the first meeting between these two sides in this competition since the 2014/15 season. On that occasion, it was Barcelona who prevailed victorious but it is Bayern Munich that Barcelona have lost more Champions League matches against than any other team having lost 5 of their 8 encounters. I am expecting that bad record to get even worse with a solid Bayern Munich win here.

Backed both of these Steve, nobody could've predicted the final scoreline though, Bayern look unstoppable atm :ok

Polish ref Marciniak is in charge tonight. To simplify things he "likes a pen" and is nothing exceptional in terms of cards. I was a bit surprised at the low spread quotes for tonight's game (you can buy bookings at 48 when I was expecting low to mid 50s) and, despite low totals in his 4 games this season, I still think there's some upside when you consider his overall stats in UEFA competitions.

I've backed a penalty taken at 12/5 with Hills and bought penalty goal minutes at 14 with SPIN. I've also backed >40 booking points at 10/11 with PP.

Nice @harry_rag, or should i call you the penalty guru :)

Backed the penalty and it was never in doubt :ok

  15. Hibernian v Motherwell.

I don't think it'll surprise anyone that I've backed Hibs to make it 4 wins from 4. Manager Jack Ross has shown he can change shape and style to suit the opponent and he's got it spot on so far, I expect there'll be little tweaks today to take care of a Motherwell side who've started the season poorly.

Motherwell have a very talented midfield on their day and carry a threat up front but it's at the back, especially at full back position, where I think they're weak and Hibs can take full advantage of that. I was expecting Hibs to be slight odds on so it was a surprise I got on at Evens, I see they've dropped to 1.91 now though, that seems about right to me.

    Hibs @ 2.00 - 2pts.

    Ross County v Dundee Utd.

Dundee Utd's new manager has made them very organised and difficult to break down, against Hibs in midweek they're game plan was clearly to get men behind the ball and stop the opposition playing, it worked to an extent but completely sacrificed creativity going forward and they never really threatened once in 90 minutes of a pretty dull affair, you got the felling they could play all night and not score. I think they'll be involved in a lot of low scoring snorefests this season so I've had a little punt on one here.

    Under 1.5 goals @ 3.25 - 0.5pt.
