  1. Re: bbotd tuesday 5th June Blimey.......that was a surprise. Not that my horse won but that he went off 3rd favourite in a 4 horse race................I'm sure he was the favourite 20 minutes before the off when I posted............. Good old BOG !................:p

  2. Re: bbotd tuesday 5th June Ffos 3.35 - Kian's delight - win at 13/8 bog wm hill Despite an Unseated yesterday on my first jumps selection for a few months I'm having another go ! Kian's delight is the only one here who's ever won a race, having won a hurdle last time and a a couple of wins on the flat Having won last time we know he's fit and in form which none of the others appears to be - the main challenger is the ex-irish Donnachas chant, an 11 race maiden whom hasn't run for a while and was rated a stone worse than the selection when he was last in action

  3. Re: First run under new trainer

It's kind of linked - I really hope I am not being completely stupid... Apart from reading it somewhere(!) (such as in a write up) how can I tell when a horse has been gelded? They can improve so much for this op and I don't want to be backing one against it or more importantly, laying one that has recently been gelded and open to improvement...
The horse description on the racecard or on it's form page will describe it as a gelding eg..........5 b g = 5 year old bay gelding On the Post racecards if you click on the 'pedigree' check box above the card it'll tell you the details for each runner eg 2.30 at Leic...... Our Boy Jack - bay gelding Lunar deity - bay colt Goldream - brown gelding etc
  4. Towc 2.20 - Jawhary - win at 13/8 bog
    Bet365
Only 4 runners for the handicap hurdle pending more non runners with the ground changing overnight This could end up as a two horse race................:unsure Jahwary won over CD last time out on good to firm but being by Pivotal there's a chance he should handle softish going and none of them have any soft ground form so it's a bit of a lottery on that front. At least the training fraternity seem to believe that Pivotals are better with cut in the ground.......:unsure That run at Towcester was his first run for the Snowdon team who are in terrific form with 4 winners from 6 runners in the last fortnight Prior to that the horse was with Philip Hobbs and they obviously thought he was useful as he ran in novice hurdles won by Agent Archie, Darlan, Pearl Swan..........course he got well beat !

  5. Re: BBOTD Monday 4th

Hiya im jordan and only just registered to this forum. Im kind of new to horse racing but at Redcar 3:55 - Danadana looks like a nice win in my eyes although he is the favorite. Anyway Just like to say HELLO :)
Hello Jordan, welcome to the forum !:welcome This thread that you've posted in is a Competition thread, see the 'Best Bet Of The Day Tables - June 2012' thread in the Stickies up top for the Rules, current standings etc Every day there's usually Flat racing and Jumps racing threads which are not competitions, just for general posts, tips etc Also in the stickies there's a 'Who are We' thread if you want to say hello and tell us a bit about yourself (when you're ready !) Finally as a newbie to the game feels free to ask any questions...........there's a Glossary and Questions & Answers thread up in the stickies...........you'll find people pretty helpful ! Have a look around, see how the place works, settle in..............and enjoy ! :ok

  7. Re: BBOTD Sunday 3rd Nott 3.50 - Veloce - win at 7/4 bog bet365 With one non-runner there's only 5 left in the staying handicap Veloce ran in and won the 9pm race on Friday night and was noted in the Post as being 'all out' after a game front running performance. So there's a chance this race will just come too soon and he won't have recovered If he's able to put his best foot forward he should win - he's the youngest horse in the race and the one who's still on the upgrade. He's also the only one with a win over todays trip Dove Cottage and Kingaroo are both front runners who haven't won over further than 12 furlongs - difficult to see either of them lasting home if they take each other on Warne's Way is also a front runner but this trip is too short for him and I can see him not being able to go with them. He also saves his best for Newbury Holden Eagle looks to be going backwards now after a couple of wins on the AW Veloce is another front runner so this could be hectic. He gets the trip and is game and tough so I think he'll still be going when the other pace setters have had enough He's got a penalty of 6 lbs for Fridays win but a decent 7 lb claimer means he's a pound well in, the claimer has 8 winners this year and a good strike rate.Interestingly he rode Warnes Way on his seasonal debut last time out so should know where he stands with that one........I rate him the main danger as he gets further and should be staying on if the pace collapses.

  8. Re: Flat racing ~ Saturday 2nd June ~ Derby Day There are 5 meetings on RUK this afternoon, with races scheduled every 5 minutes Isn't that ridiculous..........there'll be no Derby build up or post race verdict No time for discussion of any of the races, no paddock, no 'going down'....... Sod it. I think I'll break the habit of a lifetime and watch racing on Terrestrial

  9. Re: BBOTD Saturday 2nd Hayd 3.40 - Bogart - win at 7/4 bog bet365 Comes here after being beaten less than a length in the group 2 sprint at the Dante meeting. The winner has gone in again since Not only drops in class but is back against the 3 year olds Six furlongs on good or good to firm looks fine and his trainer thought he would come on for the York run Should take all the beating

  10. Re: Flat Racing Friday - Oaks Day The Oaks - The Fugue - 3/1 bog generally available Impressive winner of the Musidora, cruised alongside the O'Brien horse hard held and sprinted clear when given a shake Prior to that had finished a running on 4th in the guineas O'brien goes in mob handed which suggests he doesn't have an outstanding one. The Oaks - Kailani 10/1 bet365 could be the danger as a lightly raced Listed winner (won the Pretty Polly by 7 lengths on only her 2nd start). She's been supplemented for the Oaks and should go well for the boys in blue

  11. Re: Flat Racing Friday - Oaks Day Eps 2.50 - Worthadd - 11/10 Wm Hill Worthadd looks a good bet if you can get on at odds against.......... He's a solid group 2 horse in this group 3 race. He's a front runner in a small field on a turning track, should be able to dominate Has joined the Prescott team from Italy this year and already won a group 3 in Germany , hands and heels, easily, at odds at 2/5. Ran Canford Cliffs to a length and a bit in the Lockinge last year and looks different class to the rest of this field

  12. Flat Racing Friday - Oaks Day

Epsom 4.50 - Producer - win at 5/1 bog Ladbrokes I've been having a bit of a break but as it's a new month I'll ty and get going again - get back in the saddle before I get too lazy..........:loon Producer has 100% record over this CD, 3 runs and 3 wins He's not the highest rated in the Listed race but his course form must count for a few pounds as it's an idiosyncratic track and he's the only course winner in the field Already had a run in the Fielden Stakes at the Craven meeting finishing a creditable 3rd over 9 furlongs and should be suited by the drop back in trip Just get the feeling that the Hannon-Hughes juggernaut is about to get into gear after Hughes's ban and the unseasonal weather has seen them off to a skow start (for them !)

  14. Re: Key Race : The Oaks Friday 1st June I've been looking through Nick Mordin's columns for his ratings and comments about the Oaks runners As Nick is the only columnist or tipster I pay any attention to I thought it would be interesting to see what he has to say...........here's his ratings, the race it was achieved in and a brief comment 39 The fugue (York) - best trial, fast ground action 39 Kissed - (Navan) - group one type, might be best with soft ground 38 Vow - (Ling) - didn't handle bend well at Ling, unsuited epsom ? 37 Better etc (Chester) - didn't act heavy at chester, good EW shot in Oaks 37 Devotion (Gns) - mid-distance type, go well in Oaks 37 Nayarra (Nell gwyn ) small filly 36 Twirl - (curragh) - staying type, could place in oaks So, according to Nick.............The fugue (3/1) is the one to be on with Betterbetterbetter (33/1) and Twirl (33/1) and Devotion (40/1) as EW alternatives I was impressed with The Fugue, that'll do for me for the win I like betterbetterbetter for the EW if only cos she ran on the AW at Dundalk and i like to support 'my' all weather runners...............:nana

  15. Re: Key Race: The Derby Sat 2nd June I've been looking through Nick Mordin's columns for his ratings and comments about the Derby runners As Nick is the only columnist or tipster I pay any attention to I thought it would be interesting to see what he has to say...........here's his ratings, the race it was achieved in and a brief comment 42 - Bonfire (Dante) - should get trip, 42 rating would win Derby most years 39 - Astrology (Chester) - stayer, good turn of foot, should suit Epsom 39 - Camelot (Gns) - should stay 12 furlongs, best form 38 - Mickdaam (Newmarket) - ungainly action, might be unsuited Epsom 38 - Thought Worthy (Newmarket) - St leger type, EW shot in Derby 37 - Tower Rock - (Derrinstown) - ran as pacemaker but nearly won trial 36 - Imperial monarch (sandown) - St leger type, soft ground action, prob unsuited to Epsom 34 - Father of Science (Chester) - staying type, prob group 3 class The others haven't been written up in his column If you're not familiar with Nicks ratings they are 'lengths per mile' so Bonfire is 3 lengths per mile better than camelot, which over a mile and half equates to four and a half lengths So.........going by Mordin and current prices, Bonfire (9/2) looks the one to be on for the win with Astrology (12/1) and Thought Worthy (16/1) as EW alternatives I've got a sneaky EW feeling for Tower Rock (50/1) as I've got it in my mind that O'brien pacemakers can often run into a place at huge odds.....

  16. Re: Key Race: The Derby Sat 2nd June Not sure if there has been a declaration stage today but both the Post and the Life are now showing only 12 runners left in............ The only one fancied a bit who's disappeared is Kesampour Could be a small field Derby this year Interestingly O'Brien has 5 of the 12........it's often said that he goes in mob-handed when he doesn't have an outstanding candidate

  17. Re: Key Race: The Derby Sat 2nd June Talking of Main Sequence.............can anyone think of a Derby winner in living memory who's come up through handicaps ? Just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean it can't but still............ It's not even great handicap form if you look at his run in April at Newmarket - all 7 of the horses behind have run since and and the sole win was a class 6 maiden. All the others were beaten in handicaps His trial win at Lingfield on the AW was OK but he got the same speed fig from me as Bronze Prince in the mile handicap, a solid 90 rated handicapper Not that I'd want to put anyone off................:unsure
