  1. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 19th of June NA 7.40 - Merry Terry - win at 6/4 bog betvictor Comes back from a break and has a good record when running fresh............a quarter length second and a win the last 2 times he's come off decent breaks He's won over CD, won on todays ground and won in a small field He's lightly raced with only 12 runs under Rules

  2. Re: BBOTD Monday 18th June Wolv 4.30 - Beau Mistral - win at 6/1 bog bet365 This horse was 3/1 favourite when I was looking at the race last night and at that price I was looking for something to take him on with But at 6/1 it's a different story ! Ran a career best last time at Chester, making all and powering home in a better race than today's Up 8lbs in the weights but if that career best represents actual improvement rather than 'run of the race', might have a chance off the higher mark.......certainly the track should suit as he's placed here before Drawn in 6 so will have to be out sharp if he's going to make all Like Switzerland above, I find it difficult to fancy the money horse, Uprise, and Ring for Baileys is up in class. I can see the case for Lexington Spirit and for Electric Qatar...........so it's quite competitve !

  3. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Peter Moody with Matt chapman today was saying that his horse would demolish the other Aussie sprinters that have come over and won the Royal Ascot sprints in the last few years She'd pick them up and carry them I was amazed to hear the other day that BC weighs more than Denman..........:unsure

  4. Re: sunday bbotd Sals 2.20 - Gosbeck - win at 9/2 bog bet365 Ran her best race in handicap company over this CD last season when beaten under a length behind the ill-fated Gottany O's. She was badly hampered that day and ran on again after having to be tugged back Running on late does seem to be a feature of her run style so this kind of track with an uphill finish should suit Trainer was ready to pull her out today if the ground got too soft but reports from the course are 'good to soft, good in places' so that should be ok This is her 2nd run of the year, her seasonal debut was a cracker in a hot hcap at Epsom where she finished 4th. The winner has gone on to win a group 2, the horse who finished 10 lengths behind her in 5th won his next 2 hcaps, the 6th finished 2nd to group class Gatewood next time. That looks quality handicap form and today is a drop in class

Did you read Ryan Moore's Betfair column today? http://betting.betfair.com/horse-racing/ryan-moore/industry-view/ryan-moore-im-full-up-from-too-much-black-caviar-150612-368.html I think he's talking rubbish. He feels that all the coverage about Black Caviar is "boring people to death" "and it is overkill". Personally I can't get enough of her and i don't have the feeling that the majority of people is bored about BC. It's a gift to have her over for Royal Ascot and it's a gift that we are able to witness this wonderful horse. We should be happy about all this coverage, positive headlines for racing! It can't never be enough positive coverage for racing. Black Caviar draws the attention to our beloved sport... that's all that matters. I can't see anything wrong with that. Far from it. And if Ryan does not care, or doesn't want to read about it, well, nobody forces him to do so. I thought actually that he would have already enough to do with his own job anyway: riding race horses...
I'm with you............I'm more excited about this race than any other in recent times I've been following BC on YouTube and I think it's going to be fantastic to have her running here. I've also caught a few of Matt Chapman's interviews with Peter Moody and he seems like a great character !
  6. Re: BBOTD Saturday 16th June Sand 4.30 - Shamaal Nibras - win at 9/2 bog betvictor Looks a competitive little handicap but I'll go with the Hannon-Hughes combination This horse drops in class after running in a class 2 handicap last time, acts on soft going and should be suited by the drop back to 7 furlongs after leading at the furlong pole last time only to fade and finish 5th Hung right last time and might be suited by rail running on a right hand track if Hughes can get him placed against the rail

  7. Re: BBOTD - Friday 15th June 2012 2.10 Sand - Regal Dan - win at 5/2 bog bet365 First look at a 2 year old race this season Regal Dan ran in a hot looking race at Salisbury last time and finished 3rd. The first 2 have come out again and won so the form looks solid There's a doubt about the ground for all these but my chap ran OK on good to soft so hope he might cope The favourite, Faithfilly, is a filly as the name suggests and looks of similar form to my selection, but I always prefer a colt if you have a couple of similar ability.

  8. Re: BBOTD - Thursday 14th June Uttox 6.30 - Kirkhammerton - win at 7/4 sportingbet Hasn't won for a while but has fallen a long way down the weights and his last 2 runs suggest he's capable of winning now. He's finished 3rd and 2rd, beaten under a length both times As a 10 year old he might have needed those couple of runs to get into fitness and this is his third run back after a break Although he's never won over this trip he ran well over CD last time out on good to soft and shpould get the trip fine on tonights better ground

  9. Re: BBOTD - Wednesday 13th June Kemp 9.20 - Choral - win at 5/1 bog PP A few of these look out of form and I think the head of the market is the place to look Choral represents the Hannon-Hughes team, is a CD winner and has never been out of the first 3 in five runs here Was beaten a head off this mark on turf last time but appears to be better on the polytrack so that was a very good run Current favourite is Islesman who comes off a break and drops in trip. He usually runs in better races than this and is probably a bit better than these at his best but will take him on tonight Diplomatic is the other one fancied in the betting and he has a terrific course record but steps up quite a lot in class tonight as he usually runs in class 6 events and this is class 4

  10. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 12th Bri 8.00 - Inquisitress - win at 7/2 bog bet365 There are 5 non runners in this handicap leaving it as a very poor looking race Inquisitress is on a long losing run but has won plenty in her time and she's up against horses who just don't win. She's won over this CD and her last 3 wins have been at this track, she acts on soft going and is a pound below her last winning mark Although she has won over this CD she usually runs over shorter but has been slowly away in recent runs and running on a bit when the race was over. Maybe the longer trip will suit her current mood ? Stable are in good form

  11. Re: bbotd monday NA 3.30 - Five Out Of Five - win at 2/1 bog wm hill Has shown improved form the last couple of outings, being beaten 10 lengths then 5 lengths He has a course win to his name, and should get the trip having won over further, albeit on better ground Appears to act on any going Has AP in the saddle All his career wins have come making all in small fields but he's been held up in recent runs. Perhaps after a seeming return to better form it might be a good idea on this tight track to go back to Plan A and set off in front, but who am I to tell AP how to ride horses...............:rollin

  12. Re: bbotd sunday Perth 2.40 - Stonethrower - win at 4/1 Stan James Won a novice chase last time out on his chase debut and the 2nd has come out and won in handicap company since to suggest that the allocated marks areOK Has also won recently on good to soft whereas the others seem best on good ground Also has a tendancy to jump right and head off to the right so might be better on this RH track thamn at Wetherby where he scored last time

  13. Re: BBOTD Saturday 9th Windsor 7.00 - Effistorm - win at 11/8 Stan James Looks a two horse race on paper and the Life and Post are both going for Bunce, the younger horse with proven heavy ground form However he doesn't appear to be in great form and has gone backwatds with every run this season I'll take him on with the veteran Effistorm who's in good nick, won over CD a couple of runs ago, and handled soft ground OK in the past although he's mainly run on the all weather of late

  14. Re: Favourite and Least Favourite Course.... I look for the opposite of 'fairness'............I don't want to be backing horses at a fair track I want to be backing them at an unfair track where I can decide which ones will handle it and which ones won't, particularly if i can find a favourite who I think won't........... So I prefer the tracks which are idiosyncratic...........very tight like Chester, uphill finishes like Ponty and carlisle, very undulating like Chepstow In practise I tend always to be looking for tracks with an uphill finish and I study the runners in the context of stamina - wether they will get home on the uphill finish. That's my day to day bread and butter on the turf

  15. Re: BBOTD Friday 8th of June Oops.............wouldn't want to mislead anyone I've just noticed a horse in my race rated 88......I thought he was a non runner ! Whilst that might destroy part of my reasoning I'll stick with my selection as thew 88 rated horse looks to be on the downgrade and appears not to act on softish ground..............:hope

  16. Re: BBOTD Friday 8th of June Catt 2.35 - Veloso - win at 3/1 bog bet365 Got loads in hand in this field if he comes back from a 21 month break ready to run Last time he was seen, in 2010, he won a handicap off 81 and was competitive through the season off marks in the highs 70s and low 80s - none of the remaining runners today are rated over 60 There's hope he might go well fresh - in 2010 he won first time out after a break of 17 months Trip and going are ok.......it all revolves around wether he's ready to rock.....

  17. Re: BBOTD Thursday 7th Sand 7.55 - Spa's Dancer win at 9/4 bog bet365 Unlike most of the other races at sandown this one has held up with just the one non runner at the moment Spa's Dancer is a CD winner who goes on soft ground. He ran well last time, finishing 2nd when sent off fave for a handicap at the Chester May meeting Of the other fancied ones Jahwar was beaten 22 lengths in his only handicap run and it's not clear that Daneside handles soft going Good chance for Spa's Dancer to record a win
