I think we'll just go with a weekly basis. Makes more sense to me at least, it's not a Grand Slam, though it's gonna be more interesting than before. If you think it's worth it, let me know and I'll merge the two weekly threads together.

Ah, I see. All I had in mind was, creating a new, autonomous thread concerning Davis Cup 2021, where we could analyze Team Squads, or talk about the potential pool from which players could be selected (Team USA probably has the largest pool) by the Team Captains etc. Also, a few words about the countries hosting the tournament, the surface, the altitude...this kind of stuff. Oh, and a few early predictions as well. ??

Zverev is (by far) the best tennis player in the world, and only a small handful of us are even noticing. The guy should have already been the #1 in men's tour and absolutely dominate almost everywhere (hard, grass & clay).

Been saying this since Group stage. The guy did it all, and he did it in style, while beating the #1 and #2 in the world in the process. Doesn't get any better than that.

  3. Sascha needs to employ better tactics against Medvedev today. As we have seen in their recent matches in Paris and Turin, Medvedev somehow has the ability to neutralize rallies that you initially feel that they belong to Zverev. He has a strange style of play which annoys many of his opponents. A weird rhythm. Despite that, I feel that Zverev has so many weapons on his arsenal that he can easily determine the fate of the match. If he appears (even in the slightest) one-dimensional on the court, chances are Medvedev will punish him. But I have faith in him. I hope he lets his virtues flow, and the trophy will go to him. I never hide that I'm one of his fans and I consider him the best tennis player in the world. I just hope I'm not letting this blur my judgement today.

Realy don't know..his wife,Jelena, went to college in Milano i think..also he tends to go very often to Italian Alps (Mountains) for some kind of recovery after a great but very exhausting runs that he had in the past..he is AC Milan supporter as well..so obviosly plenty of reasons for that "special bond" between Novak and some Italians..

    @Foo_Fighter

Just notice how Djokovic whips the italian crowd into a frenzy merely by showing up in Rome each year (Rome Masters 1000 event). Anyway, sorry if I overanalyzed Novak's relationship with the Italian crowd.

He donated a sum of one million euros to hospital in Bergamo last year, due to big corona virus crisis in Italy back then.
That's one of the reasons for being popular there and why Italians treat him nicely,i guess.

It's certainly not that. The love for Djokovic has always been on par with Roger in Italy. His generous donation might have given an extra boost to this love though.

You'll certainly get good odds for Sascha in straights. Good luck if you play :ok

Found his straight set victory at 5.9 actually. And his win at 3.35. I believe Zverev is more ambitious than he looks. It's a shame that the Italian crowd will be extremely in favor of Djokovic though. Is it because of... Djokovic speaking Italian(lol)? I know that the obvious answer is that Novak remains the established and indisputable #1 in the world for years, but come on, it's gotta be a bit more than that... quite ridiculous. Nowhere else on the planet does he enjoy the amount of support he gets in Italy (besides Serbia of course). It's as if he's disguised as Roger Federer lol.

Yeah, it's always very risky to count on Selby on this format (best of 7). Selby remains quite reliable when the format is Best of 17, Best of 19 etc. On this format, and against Gilbert, I'd rather go with Gilbert or bet on the prospect of a deciding frame (approximately 7/3 at most betting companies). I believe Mark has a tendency of playing many matches going to the deciding frame, no?

    Hmm.. Spot on? ??

Zverev will also enjoy the speedy conditions, and nobody has been serving as well as he has. He's playing super 1st strike tennis.

Selby has a decent record against Shaun but Selby never seems to perform very well in this event (semi-final the best he has made, last year).

Zverev is complaining lately on being tired, but honestly i don't see that in his tennis, mainly because he's serving like crazy (in positive way). Knowing their recent h2h,i expect Medvedev to take control on match, trying to involve Sascha in longer rallys, and eventualy win in the end. Fun fact: this match is a replay of last year's final.

Well I expect Zverev to gain the upper hand over Medvedev and beat him. I know their recent record implies a Medvedev win, but Sascha is the best player in the world these days.

Well, that has been my last bet/prediction. In terms of results, it has been a really good year, but I also have had to be dealing with a lot of punters "crowing" on my lost picks and I just got tired. The most annoying part is that all those punters are not even able to get good results here, so they just wait and appear in the right moment.

Since the Q. of the US Open started I have posted 23 bets and I have won 16 (16-7), That can be checked easily as all the bets are there. Well, in more than half of those lost bets I have seen some punter crowing on them. In relation to the 16 won bets, I haven't seen a single post commenting the match or the bet itself. It seems it doesn't matter how good I am doing that if I lose a bet there will be a punter to crow on it. It doesn't take a genius to realize what's the main purpose of all these comments.

I'm not leaving the forum, I just won't post more bets and I will reduce my contribution here.

GL to Czech, fourleaf, foo fighter, robinho, money and all the rest of the good punters here!

darko08, I hope you reconsider and keep posting your always well put, smart bets. As a matter of fact, I've always regarded you as my favorite punter. This isn't exactly praise I'm giving you (in some way it is since I said you're my favorite), it's just the reality, the truth; your win-loss ratio is outstanding. As I said, I just hope you reconsider man...

  12. Lloyd Harris to win a set at 1.8 with bet365

Don't know why Ruud is considered such a heavy favorite against Harris tonight. Both players are at their best, Harris is the better server, Ruud is probably the better retriever. Kind of reminds me of David Ferrer in a way. At these odds, I'm going with the young South African to win at least a set.

    Good luck.

  13. Giron to beat van de Zandschulp at 1.9 with bet365

The Dutch is a decent player but I feel that Giron is more versatile than his opponent. He's got 2(!) very recent straight set victories (7-5, 7-6 & 7-6, 7-6) against Alex de Minaur (@Metz and Sofia) which is very impressive by itself. Winning so many tie breaks in a row shows how clutch and mentally tough he is. Also, Giron was born in California and he still lives there so this can only increase his chances of having a good Indian Wells.

Mackenzie McDonald to beat James Duckworth at 1.75 with bet365

The two players have a very similar ranking right now (#57 & #55 respectively) but I don't necessarily believe that their games are of similar range. McDonald is more experienced, more talented and eventually, more motivated (home soil) than his opponent. I don't know, perhaps I'm reading this game wrong, but my gut says the American will prevail in the end (even comfortably).

The 3rd match I like is this:

Marie Bouzkova to beat Martina Trevisan at 1.63 with Pinnacle

Trevisan had two good results in the qualifying, but Bouzkova should be a much bigger challenge. Baptiste and Brantmeier were just not able to keep the ball in play for longer and their attacking shots were wildly inconsistent. Bouzkova play better overall and the conditions shouldn't be an issue, she can also play longer rallies without issues.

    Good luck.

    What. Just. Happened?

I was working, so only half-watching, with the sound down. How did Djokovic lose that after the 6-1 first set?

Was he a set and a break up, or not?

Yes he broke to 3-2 in second set but got broken back to 3-3. Zverev outmuscled him I guess.

Zverev was way better than Djokovic throughout the match. I had placed a 285€ bet on Zverev to win a medal so I'm feeling very grateful to him for this win. Now I want him to win the gold medal?, as I've invested in this prospect as well.

Well, the first batch of matches didn't bring us all that many surprises, it just seems like the tournament is well set up for Djokovic to win. I saw a couple of matches, Basilashvili was hilarious. He really didn't want to be out there, frustrated as heck, but won so comfortably that he couldn't even throw the match away! Should be a fun clash with Sonego.

Zverev should be a major threat. Also, Djokovic doesn't seem to perform at his usual level when he's playing in empty stadiums. He really loves the energy coming from the crowd. He always absorbs that energy and uses it to raise his game, no matter if the crowd supports him or his opponent. Anyway, I really believe Zverev can stop him in Tokyo. We'll see what happens.
