The only bet I have on so far this weekend in this league is a treble, my main single of the day is in the German Bundesliga. Dinamo Brest v Minsk - Dinamo followed up a decent performance in the cup final with a convincing win in last weeks Brest derby and look to be improving. They should have too much for Minsk here. Vitebsk v BATE - Basil says BATE are the certainties of the weekend, I told him there was no such thing, then he started going on about quantum physics and atomic reaction, jeez, in the end I agreed just to shut him up. I didn't realise my cat was a professor. Shakhtyor v Energetyk - There's not a lot separating these 2 teams but I fancy Shakhtyor to come out on top here due to the record of both defences. Shakhtyor have only conceded a miserly 3 times all season whereas Energetik have conceded 13. 1 goal could win this for the home side. Din. Brest, BATE and Shakhtyor Treble @ 3.00 - 1pt.

FC Slutsk vs Torpedo Zhodino Well, who saw that result yesterday coming?! Not anybody in the world except the most optimistic Smolevichi fan I believe! Let's hope we can get back to winning ways today! The action begins at midday BST when FC Slutsk face Torpedo Zhodino in an intriguing encounter at the Haradski Stadium. Both sides are competing at the top end of the table and will want a win to keep the pressure on league leaders BATE Borisov. FC Slutsk are in 5th place coming into this game but results haven't been great lately for a side that had briefly looked like front runner candidates for the title. Vitaliy Pavlov has now witnessed his team go 4 league games with a win including 3 defeats. It's seen them drop to 8 points off the title pace and they risk plummeting down the league table unless results and performances pick up soon. Goals have not been short in supply during the team's recent games with both teams scoring in 4 of their last 6 matches. Torpedo Zhodino will be quietly confident heading into this match. Yuri Puntus has led his team to 3rd in the table and just 4 points off top spot. The 2-1 win at home to Smolevichi last week now looks even more credible after Smolevichi's hammering of Gorodeya yesterday and showed this squad can bounce back from a set back having lost 3-1 away to Neman Grodno the previous week. Goals are constantly present in Torpedo's recent matches with both teams scoring in 4 of their last 6 league matches and in all three of their latest league victories. This is a tough one to call. FC Slutsk may be at home but their form is going down the drain at the moment. Torpedo Zhodino appear to have galvanised after that bump in the road against Neman Grodno but this is their first away trip since that away defeat. Despite the difference in the form book, the ELO ratings favour the home side quite heavily so with my feelings torn I'm going to follow them and back an FC Slutsk win. With the kind permission of Paul's sister Kayla we have named the KO Cup in memory of 'Sir Puntalot' Without his drive and enthusiasm over the years the forum would not exist. Good luck guys and gals Rules for those who have forgot! Eintracht Frankfurt v Mainz Betting suggestion: both to score & over 2,5 goals @1,85 Pinnacle Frankfurt team totals over 1,5 @1,73 Pinnacle Short preview: I’ve been on the “Frankfurt train” for a whole, and I will keep with them as they simply look like a team that found the way how to get the things done after the break. Yes, they lost against Bayern in the first match with 5-2, but I think it’s really unnecessary to speak about Bayern and compare it to the rest of the league at the moment. Frankfurt have won their last two matches, and neither of them was against an easy opponent. Firstly, they won against Wolfsburg away, then against Werder. Two teams in different zones, first fighting for European spots, while second fighting to avoid the relegation. This time, they will face another team that is fighting to avoid the relegation, but at least at the moment seems to be pretty weak and even though they somehow found the way in past years to avoid to be relegated, it seems more and more possible, that they will find themselves on positions that are leading to the “Zweite Bundesliga”, or at least to qualifications with the 3rd best team of the second league. They drew against Union Berlin, they lost against Leipzig and Hoffenheim at home, and they will be pretty much under pressure today against Frankfurt. As I’ve said in the past two rounds, Frankfurt isn’t a bad team and they deserve to be at least in the top 10 if not higher. With Andre Silva and Dost keeping up in form, always dangerous Kostić and Kamada, this team of Hütter especially now, playing “relaxed” as they made an 8 points gap with the 16th Fortuna, will be simply too much at least offensively. They conceded some easy goals anyways, especially against Freiburg (3-3), but their offensive part have delivered so far, therefore I think taking their goals is the safest option. Interesting option is also Frankfurt & over 2,5 goals at 2,75!

    Sir Puntalot - R.I.P

Morning Everyone It has taken me 4 weeks to even come and visit the site, as many of you know and many do not, I have known Paul some 30 years and in that time got to know a man who was selective about the people he chose to be in his life, he loved his punters lounge guys and girls and the numerous poker nights and race days he took great joy and pride in to know he created that, I was more a friend away from this site because truth be told gambling is not my thing as @StevieDay1983 will tell you with my horrendous premier league tips, I am actually very proud of what Paul achieved here and have told him that several times, you all should be proud to because you have help this great creation, on a more personal note I will miss my friend no no my brother, i loved the way he would tell it to me straight if I was being a d**k, also loved the way I could tell him that also, I have spent many a night in the pub (that will surprise you all watching mostly football and for a Leeds lad he backed me up whenever I was watching Manchester United in mainly Arsenal pubs in London, away from pubs we would often discuss matters of life always with a sarcastic sense of humour attached to it, I was with Paul a lot over the last months and I would like you all to know that genuinely he did not lose that sarcastic sense of humour he was known for, one of lifes very very good guys, I love ya Paul

Isloch vs Ruh Brest The second game in the Belarus Premier League being played today is the 2pm BST kick-off between Isloch and Ruh Brest at the Traktar Stadium. These two sides find themselves positioned comfortably in mid-table but a win or loss could be the trigger of either a positive or negative run of results. Will either team find a way to take all 3 points in this one? Isloch are situated in 7th place but it's now 3 league games lost in a row for Vitaliy Zhukovsky's men. It's even more of a concern when you see it's also 4 losses from their last 5 league games with just 3 goals scored during those matches. It had been 3 league wins in a row at home before the 2-1 loss at home to Energetik-BGU. Their home record remains their big hope having won 5 of their 7 at home this season so far. Those wins owe a lot to an Isloch defence that has kept a clean sheet at home on three occasions. Ruh Brest know this will be a tricky game for them but they'll feel they can win against a side only 1 point and two places above them in the league table. Aleksandr Sednyov has done well to lead his team to 9th so far after their promotion having finished 3rd in the First League last season. The 4-1 loss at home to Dynamo Brest last week was a huge dose of reality for a side that had been unbeaten in their previous 7 league games before that loss. One thing Ruh Brest have succeeded in doing is making themselves tough to beat on their travels. They've unbeaten in their last 4 away league games and have seen less than 2.5 goals scored in 5 of their 6 away matches in the league this campaign. I'm not expecting a thriller here. Isloch have built their decent home form on a solid back-line and Ruh Brest have shown they're not interested in attacking their hosts on their travels. I wouldn't be surprised if we see another narrow win for the home team here. The ELO ratings and bookies are slightly favouring the away team but I think I have to go with my gut and back Isloch to take the victory here to get back to winning ways at home. Smolevichi vs Gorodeya The first game of the weekend fixtures in the Belarus Premier League is a 5pm BST (although some media outlets have been stating 4:30pm BST!) kick-off between Smolevichi and Gorodeya at the Haradski Stadium. It hasn't been a very positive start to the season for either of these two teams so picking up a much-needed win in this game will be of absolute importance. Smolevichi continue to suffer in this top flight adventure. Aleksandr Brazevich's men are in 15th place with just 4 points from their 10 league games so far. It's now 4 losses from their last 5 league games and with the team now 8 points adrift of the relegation play-off spot it can be argued that hope is draining away from this squad very quickly. A victory in this match against their opponents, who occupy that relegation play-off position, would provide a huge sense of relief but even after a win there would still be so much to do to pull this team back into the main pack. It's simply not looking very good at all. Gorodeya fans will be starting to chew their finger nails with nerves after the club suffered another defeat last week. Oleg Radushko's side are now without a win in their last 6 league games. It's a drop in form that has seen the club fall to 14th in the league table and now into the relegation play-off place. There is hope for their fans heading into this game with the team having only lost 1 of their last 5 away league games. A funny stat is also that Gorodeya have managed to earn more points on their travel than at home this season so far. I think only a mad man would back Smolevichi to win right now. They are a team that really have struggled to adapt to life in the top division of Belarusian football. A swift return to the First League seems inevitable at the moment. The best I can see here is them grinding out a draw but because Gorodeya have looked so much better on the road than at their own home ground this season it makes me feel like I have to back the narrow away win. I am wary of the small potential for a draw though so will throw the draw no bet out there as the safety buffer just in case! Second game today is Isloch Minsk v Rukh Brest with Shimusik in charge. It's a solid mid-band play for me, 4-6 cards shown at 11/10 with Hills After that we have Slavia Mozyr v Neman Grodno reffed by Shcherbakov which appeals for pens and would suggest a high card bet if any. I've bought pen goal mins at 16 with SX and backed pen taken at 2/1 Hills, along with >60 points at 11/8 PP.

Frankfurt v Mainz. My only single of the day just has to be the home side here. A couple of good wins in a row makes them very much the form team against a Mainz side who look to be really struggling, I'm a little surprised the home win isn't slight odds on. Frankfurt @ 2.00 - 2pts.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Mainz 05 The second of our 2:30pm BST previews in the Bundesliga is the fascinating clash between Eintracht Frankfurt and Mainz 05 at the Commerzbank-Arena. Both of these teams are probably a little bit too close to the relegation zone for comfort and their form hasn't exactly set the world alight since they returned from their break. Can either side add a much-needed win to their league record here? Eintracht Frankfurt are positioned in 11th and 8 points above the relegation zone. Adi Hutter's men will still be looking above them with the Europa League qualification places only 7 points ahead of them. Back-to-back defeats saw the team experience a slow start to their campaign after the suspension for coronavirus but it's now 3 league games undefeated including back-to-back away wins in their previous two league matches. One thing you can be sure of in Frankfurt games is goals. All of their last 9 league games have seen at least 3 goals scored. Mainz 05 come into this game in a slightly worse position than their opponents. Achim Beierlorzer's side are in 15th place and just 1 point outside the relegation zone. It's 4 league matches without a win since their return to action and with teams behind them starting to pick up points it's a nervous time for the club. Just 1 goal scored in the last 288 minutes of league action is a big concern. Once again, we can expect goals because 86% of Mainz 05's away games have seen over 2.5 goals scored. It's just a shame for them that it's usually the opposition scoring them with just 1 win from their last 5 away league matches. You get the feeling that Eintracht Frankfurt are starting to click again. The performances have still been lacking but they're turning those underwhelming displays into wins and that's key in recovering from a poor run of form. Mainz 05 have the spectre of relegation creeping over their shoulder and with the goals drying up in the final third it's a worrying time. They need a win here but I can't see them getting it. Home win all the way for me. Eintracht Frankfurt to Win @ 2.05 with BetVictor Total Goals Scored Under 3.5 @ 1.62 with Betfred

Racing Chat - Saturday June 6th

In Australia on Saturday morning there are 2 G1's at Eagle Farm in Brisbane and I will look at the Stradbroke Handicap which looks a good renewal and competitive as well. Elsewhere I have looked at 4 races at Flemington and 5 at Randwick. Flemington R1 (2.35am) Prezado will be looking to get favourite punters off to a good start and he does look hard to beat here. He loves it down the straight at Flemington and 4 of his 5 wins have come over course and distance. He is on a hat-trick here after his last two wins over course and distance and this race doesn't look any harder than them even though he is creeping up the handicap. From Within looks the main danger as she was 5th behind him last time and now 3rd up should come on for that, but I don't think it will be enough to beat Prezado. Prezado @ 7/5 with Bet365 Flemington R3 (3.45am) Coolth looks a very promising horse. Granted he has only won a couple of races in South Australia so far, but he has looked impressive both times especially in handicap company last time. Obviously coming to a Saturday Melbourne meeting is harder, but he steps up to 2000m which looks perfect and Damian Oliver has been booked. Hypercane looks the main danger having finished 2nd in the Adelaide Guineas a month ago which was a good effort. Coolth @ 17/10 with Bet365 Flemington R6 (5.45am) An ex-Irish horse and an ex-UK horse are the two I like here. Masaff only has a Leopardstown maiden victory to his name, but he ran well in Group/Listed races before making his Australian debut at Randwick last month. He has finished strongly on both starts both over 1600m the first day and then over 1800m here a couple of weeks ago. There was plenty to like about both efforts and now he steps up to 2520m which should be perfect for him especially on better ground. Speaking of better ground that is exactly what Starcaster wants. I have written about him before when he started favourite at Sandown a month ago, but I had a bit concern about the heavy ground and he duly hated it. God knows why connections decided to run him on it again over course and distance a couple of weeks ago, but again he hated it. I am prepared to give him a chance now he gets on a better surface. He looked progressive in the UK and his former trainer thought he would get better with age. Masaff @ 11/5 with Bet365 Starcaster @ 8/1 with William Hill Randwick R4 (4.10am) I put Loveseat up in the race High Opinion won here a couple of weeks ago over 2000m and I think she can reverse the form over this further trip. She didn't ever look like she was going to win that day, but she stayed on into 3rd and she has already won at this 2400m trip. McEvoy takes over in the saddle which is a plus and she should go close. Re Edit was 2nd over this trip at Rosehill 3 weeks ago and she looked back to her best when she flew home off a steady pace recording a quick final 200m. She had lost her way, but she has good form in the past and like I say that run last time suggested she is back to her best. Loveseat @ 7/1 with Bet365 Re Edit @ 6/1 with Bet365 Randwck R5 (4.50am) Burning Crown is the warn favourite and I can see why as he comes here in really good form, but I am going to take a chance on a couple at bigger prices. Tony's Reward is a pretty consistent horse and crucially he has a strong first up record having won 3 and finished 2nd once in 6 first up runs. He has trialled nicely ahead of this as well and certainly looks capable of landing this. Up Trumpz is the other one I like and he finished in front of Burning Crown on the Kensington track here a month ago. Last time he was drawn 11/11 and he got too far back. Granted he hadn't done much better in the draw here as he is in 9, but hopefully he can sit a little closer to the pace this time. He certainly looks a big price on that run 2 starts back in front of Burning Crown. Tony's Reward e/w @ 10/1 with William Hill Up Trumpz @ 5/1 with everyone Randwick R7 (6.10am) A Listed Race which has a good field including Classique Legend who ran a good race in the Everest last year when looking a bit unlucky. He is clearly the best horse in the race and did win his trial nicely last Friday. Not sure if the plan is to freshen him up at some stage, but given the Everest would be the target again you have to wonder if he is going to be fully tuned up for this. Given that doubt I am going to take a couple each way against him. I was really impressed with Snitz when he won a Listed Race over 1200 here a month ago and that meant he has won his last 4 now. Even though he is 5 he seems to be improving and fitness will be on his side with it being the 3rd run of his prep. I was tempted by Adelong who I have put up both times she has won and she could well be up to winning some black type, but its a tough first race at this level. She is clearly a good horse though. Instead Jungle Edge will be the other pick. As I wrote when I put him up at Morphettville a month ago, he loves a wet track and he duly made all to win a G3. He beat Behmoth who went on to finish 4th in The Goodwood and although Jungle Edge finished last he had a poor draw and the ground will not have been soft enough. He has a good draw here and the track should be wet enough for him. Snitz e/w @15/2 with William Hill Jungle Edge e/w @ 13/2 with everyone Randwick R8 (6.50am) A good race this and a competitive handicap that you can give chances to a view, but I have to stick with Dealmaker. I've put him up the last twice and over course and distance a month ago he flew home to finish 2nd, just failing. He wasn't as good last time, but he did drop in trip and didn't get the best of runs either so I am happy to forgive him that. Yes he has finished 2nd or 3rd in 12 of his 25 starts and won just twice, but he's so solid and at a double figure price he has to be backed e/w again. Dealmaker e/w @10/1 with with William Hill (is 12/1 to win with Bet365 and 5/2 to place) Randwick R9 (7.25am) I put up Greek Hero last time on the back of a debut Australian victory at Kembla Grange. On his last start in the UK he won at Musselburgh and the horse he beat that day Al Erayg actually won earlier in the week. I didn't think he was disgraced at all when finishing 5th and getting up to 1600m will help as well. McEvoy keeps the ride and I can see him going close. Itz Lily is the other one I am keen on She's a pretty consistent horse who looks primed to peak 3rd up given her first two starts of the prep. Last time on the Kensington track here she was further back than ideal and was still in 10th of 12 at the 400m marker. She had no room and then flew home late to get 3rd. She looks a big player here. Greek Hero @ 11/2 with William Hill Itz Lily @ 5/1 with everyone Eagle Farm R8 (6.35am) A big field for the Stradbroke and there are a few with claims. Trekking bids to do the Goodwood/Stradbroke double and to also go back to back in this. The problem is he obviously has a lot more weight and he is drawn in 22 which is a shocker. Favourite Dawn Passage is next door in 23 and he looks progressive having won half of his 5 starts including his last 3. Only has 50kg, but that shocking draw is enough to put me off. I have written about Vega One and the suspect ride he got 3 starts back. He ran well on his next start from a poor draw although was disappointing last time when getting fractious before the race. It would not surprise me if he did run a big race, but again he has a shocking draw in 20. With William Hill going 5 places I am going to take 3 against the field (others are going 4, but Bet365 will only be 3 as they will be betting on Australian terms). Victorem won the race that Vega One was disappointing in last time and he looked really good in doing so. He has a great record here and over 1400m and the way he finished over 1200m the last day suggested that he can play a big part in this. He is drawn in 9 which should be perfect. Hightail is another who only has to carry 50kg and has won his last two races including Gold Coast Guineas las time out. I thought it was a good race he won at Randwick the time before as well. Up into G1 company here, but the way he is running suggests he could well be up to it. The final pick is Bam's On Fire. This horse has come up from Victoria for this and she has been in cracking form this prep. She was 2nd in a G2 in March at Moonee Valley before winning a G3 over this trip at Caulfield. Last time out she was 3rd in a G1 at Morphettville and although she will be a tougher G1 she will enjoy stepping up 200m in trip. She looks over priced to me given she has only failed to finish out of the first 3 on 3 occasions in 20 starts. Tonight it will be a cool and rainy match in the Black Forrest. Freiburg is traditonally strong when its cold and rainy in Freiburg. From the last 23 matches between Freiburg and Gladbach there was no away win. I think with Waldschmidt back and Grifo in good form there will be a g/g in this match. In addition to the above I think we can safely say that we can have a decent fixture list until the end of July. That gives us another 7 weeks if we start on June 13th, making an 8-week season. Proposals Resume competition on June 13th Final matches on July 25th Season reduced to 8 weeks (from 10) (already had 1 week) Fixture list to include minor leagues from Europe

Very sad news to hear. Paul was not only a fantastic person to work with but also had a heart of gold. On a personal level, I've been going through a difficult time over the past couple of years and Paul offered so much support. He offered experienced advice and a sympathetic ear during the tough days. Even when he was experiencing what he was going through he was insistent on making sure I was OK. On a work note, his enthusiasm for Punters Lounge was infectious. I'd struggled to buy into any roles I'd previously had when it came to work. Paul made it easy to fully invest in this place. He not only believed in what Punters Lounge was and should become but he also believed in those that wanted to make it happen. I will miss him deeply and I certainly owe him a lot of credit for helping me get to where I am now. Rest peacefully, Paul. Thoughts go out to Kayla and all the family.

Absolutely shocked to the core with this news, knowing the man and fighter he was, I truly expected to see him again after all this lockdown, Such a great kindhearted and straight to the point kind of guy! My thoughts go out to Michalea & the family! Also all his PL family and friends, "God Bless you Paul Ross"
