Yipp your probably right he was only acting under orders from MJ, am lost at what they were thinking, i've backed the horse a few times before, trying to make all the running over a mile is just plain crazy. Jimmy2shoes
Re: The Jockey Thread Never backed them but credit where credit is due. Cracking ride by R,Havlin on Camborne in the 2:10 at Donny. Clever ride and used his brain, a few others should take note, Martain Lane as an example. robertob
Re: The Jockey Thread Just watching replays from last week and not sure if someone has seen it but it's wonderful to see Renato Souza celebrating a low-grade handicap winner at Wolverhampton as if he'd won a Group 1, after giving his mount a fantastic ride from a tactical point of view! robertob
Re: The Jockey Thread lol yeh watched it' date=' and fair play, got to love the passion, more should take note.[/quote'] Exactly. Why not celebrating a winner if you gave the horse a brilliant ride and things worked out to perfection? Doesn't matter if glittering Derby or Wolverhampton Claimer - a good ride is a good ride! To be honest this is something that baffles me really. Even after winning Group races, jockeys in the UK and Ireland rarely really celebrate. If you compare this to Hong Kong, Singapore or South Africa for example, where jockeys show much more their emotions.
robertob
Re: The Jockey Thread Ride of week goes to: Joshua Crane! Still a 7lb apprentice but what a tactically smart ride on Tatting in the opener at Wolverhampton yesterday - btw. this was Crane's first ride since July! Sure, Tatting was entitled to win the race and is probably above this poor lot yesterday, but still we all know how difficult it can be for a hold-up horse to come and win from the rear in a double-figure-size field at Wolverhampton. Crane was just ultra cool though, knew exactly was he was doing and where he wanted to be, swinging around widest of all the home turn but making sure not too lose too much ground, keeping a tight line. Really, really good for such a young and generally inexperienced rider.
Binchy
Re: The Jockey Thread Think Jamie Spencer deserves a bit of credit today for his ride on Rocky Ground in the 3:40 at Beverley. He gets a lot of stick for this type of ride, but when it all falls right and it is timed to perfection, threading the eye of the needle, it is extremely impressive. erhaab1965
Re: The Jockey Thread What a great week for Young Joseph, breaking MJ Kinane's record for number of winners in a season in Ireland and then winning the Gr1 Dewhurst a few days later. I have said for a while he'd become a decent jockey and this week has highlighted his talents, another couple of years and I think he'll become a top jockey assuming he continues on the flat . He just needs to brush up on his tactics in normal / maiden /handicap races, at the moment he loses far too many on ones which he should be winning, just down to lack of experience and youthfulness, which no doubt will be overcome. Negative - Am getting really frustrated with Joe Fanning these days, how many times must this jockey try and win races from the front, or he kicks for home to far out, he has been flinging away so many potential better placed chances through down right poor judgement, always seems to want the front, or nothing, just plain poor Joe.
