Re: Aussie Millions 2009 Thanks Helen. Just received confirmation from Centrebet that they have bought me in and they've requested Day 1 Flight 3. Ideal for me as I'll probably be arriving on Sat 17th, so it'll give me a couple of days to settle in and ... er.... relax (yeah right!). Staying in the Crown Promenade Hotel from the 17th to the 24th and just waiting now for the remaining funds to hit my acccount so I can book the flights - starting to seem more real now!

extremely jealous - wish I could justify spending last year's 'earnings' and join you but I can't (mind you how many lottery draws are there before the start of the main event ?!). have a great time :ok

Great stuff :clap My flight plans have changed slightly so I'll now be getting there (very) early on the Sunday morning. Look forward to buying you a beer and hopefully you'll have qualified for the ME by the time I arrive :hope

Re: Aussie Millions 2009 Arrived in Melbourne 8.30pm last night, and after a bus to the hotel, and a quick s**t, shave and shower made it to the casino at 10.30pm :D Decided to play a bit of $2/$3 cash for starters - sat down with $150, which quickly doubled on my first BB. Several limpers, and I checked my 78o. Flop came 563 rainbow, SB checks, I bet $6, and get called by UTG and SB. Turn is the perfect 4 - SB checks, I bet $16, UTG folds, SB calls. River brings another 3, SB checks again - I bet $30, and he shoves....bollox I think, but call anyway, and he shows K7 for the lower straight :nana:nana Then it was pretty much downhill from there: Lost a bit with AhTh on a AxKh5h flop, another K on the turn, fortunately my heart never appeared as I was up against AK. Then my KK lost to 45o, who rivered a straight :\ AJ lost to A4 :wall Then was just about to leave before next hourly charge when I get AhQh UTG. I just call, UTG +1 raises to $11, then 4 callers before I shove my last $34 in. Quite happy with 2 callers, even more so with QT6 rainbow flop. Both opponents check, blank turn, check/check, then 8 on river, check/all-in. He turns over J9 for the straight. Funniest hand of all was one I avoided (I'm in SB) - blind raise to $6 UTG, UTG+1 blind calls, mid-pos shoves for $34. UTG calls, UTG+1 goes all-in for another $78. UTG (chinese girl - plays there a lot) thinks a couple of minutes, then calls. Board comes out A7Q25 - UTG shows 88, MP has Q6o, UTG scoops the pot with 34o :lol Just to keep my focus, will try to keep a log of how poker is going while I'm here. It might look bad tomorrow, as I'm going to play $1100 NL tourney today - it got 340 runners on day 1a and there expecting more today :hope Adetrick - will pm you my mobile no. so we can meet up next week :ok

Re: Aussie Millions 2009 Todays update comes courtesy of a generous cafe near McDonalds as McD's internet is not free! Played the $1100 tourney yesterday - 5k starting stack with 40 min blinds. 11 levels were scheduled to match day 1a - 389 runners yesterday giving a $731k prize pool. Had an awful run of cards for the first 3 levels, while players busted out in quick succesion on my table - at least 10 in first hour :rollin:rollin Guy next to me flopped a set of kings twice in quick succesion against a lower flopped set - but was sick the second time when the 8s turned quads :eek Had dropped to about 4k when I got a pair of jacks just before end of level 3. Called a mid-position raise - 3 low cards on flop, he bet about half my stack, I pushed, and my jacks held up against his AK. Shortly after first break got moved to another table with huge stack to my left - fortunately rest of table was quite soft and managed to get over 12k within 30 mins before I got moved again. Third table had 2 big stacks who were raising every hand. Coupled with more crap cards, I sat quietly until shortly before second break (end of level 6). With blinds at 150/300 25a, I raised to 800 with AJ, and was called by BB. Flop of AKJ looked great - he checks, I bet 1500, he pushes. He looks disgusted as I flip my 2 pair - he has AQ. Unfortunately, dealer is not so kind, and turns another K to counterfeit my 2 pair. By second break I'm down to about 5.3k with blinds set to start at 200/400 50a. First hand I get 99 - raise to 1800, guy with AQ pushes again, but this time he has me covered. I call, and am pleased to see his 77, until another 7 appears on the flop :wall Turn gives me hope with a flush draw, but no help on the river and I'm out. Although I got my money in when I was ahead, in hindsight I should have pushed the 99 pre-flop - he might have folded the sevens :unsure Then lost more cash playing blackjack, and later a bit of 2/3 cash after jetlag had kicked in :spank Going to have a day off poker today, and just chill out enjoying the sun - its about 25C today, so nice and comfortable :ok

Re: Aussie Millions 2009 I'm sure he learnt nothing from me (especially relating to PokerPro machines !) but Mitchell Carle was the first of the two guys I knocked out of the main event last year ........... Mitchell Carle Wins Event #2: $1,050 PokerPro No Limit Hold'em ($25,000) Congratulations to Queenslander Mitchell Carle who overcame a field of 83 to be crowned the Event #2: $1,050 PokerPro No Limit Hold'em Champion and owner of the coveted Gold Ring. Carle outlasted a world-class field that included Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad, Emad Tahtouh, Marty Smyth, David Saab and many more. After falling short in third place in a similar event during the 2008 PokerNews Cup, Carle's mix of patience, courage and solid play was rewarded with this victory. 4969f28689b99.jpg Mitchell Carle Wins!
