Re: WSOP Update Yeah...Daniel is doing superb, this is his chance to shine and I hope he fufills everything he his capable of. It is scary to think that daniel was basically at my level a few weeks ago but now he is sat at the same table as Phil Ivey in the WSOP and has a chance to become a millionaire overnight......he is a fully accomplished NL tourney player that is for sure and I have my :hope crossed he plays to the full ability I know he has in him....mind you he better not make a repeat visit to the blackjack tables like the last time I saw him :lol. Of course Ivey is rightfully favourite to win the whole thing, he is the best player left in, but 4/1 is so stupidly short it represents one of the worst bets I have seen in a long time. Matusow famously plays fantastic poker for almost all the tournaments he is in then stupidly spunks away massive leads at key times....he even says it himself "WHEN AM I GONNA BLOW UP GUYS?". It seems this time he has not done so so far but has kept the head, can it continue (some of his quotes on cardplayer are funny as fcuk as well)..... Anything can happen now lets just hope the cards go daniels way :hope COME ON!!!!!!

Without watching the whole hand it's kinda hard to judge this play, might have just been a fantastic read of the situation, but Matusow was top 5 in chips when he made this play, and picked up his chiplead from it, could definitely have been considered 'blowing it' if he didn't get the fold: On a board of [J♦][10♠][2♠][5♠][5♥] Mike Matusow pushed all in with 1.5 million already in the pot. Farzad Bonyadi folded his cards saying that he was holding a flush. He told Matusow to show him the bluff and Matusow showed [2♣][6♣] for bottom pair. Matusow took the huge pot breaking 4 million in chips.

Re: WSOP Update A bit info on a couple of the UK players. Tiffany Williamson won her way in through a super satellite at the gutshot card club in London her buy in is rumoured to be somewhere between 10 and 40 quid!!! Its her first tournament of any standing. John McGrane is william hill qualifier for about a tenner. Apparantly due to his excellent performance this year he will get an all expenses paid entry from William Hill to WSOP 2006 main event. I think the percentage of european players left given the original proportion at the start is probably quite high. Though its a small sample, to me it proves that european poker is every bit as good as our us counterparts. In fact i would wager your average european is a superior player. It is only at the real top level that the americans have the edge.

(Friday, 15 July 2005 at 8:29 am) The final table Seat 1: Joe Hachem, 7.15 million Seat 2: Andy Black 12.57 million - chip leader Seat 3: Tex Barch 4.8 million Seat 4: Ayhan Alsancak 2.14 million Seat 5: Daniel Bergsdorf 4.1 million Seat 6: Mike Matusow 6.31 million Seat 7: Aaron Kanter 3.8 million Seat 8: Brad Konrachi 1.13 million Seat 9: Steve Dannenmann 6.35 million Seat 10: Scott Lazar 3.37 million Who would have thought that Mike Matusow would be the last recognised pro left standing?! :D Who'd have thought Daniel could get this far? If Andrew wins this, yeah, expect Tibetan monasteries to get overbooked for the next coupla years! :lol (Friday, 15 July 2005 at 3:04 am) Ivey out All in with Jacks against Kings he picks up a flush draw on the turn but doesn't make it, Eric Kanter knocks him out in 20th, he's not a happy bunny and declines to entertain the press. (Friday, 15 July 2005 at 3:03 am) Minh Ly loses a big one Minh Ly comes up against Daniel's Bergsdorf's Aces and doubles him up, he is down to a million or so. (Friday, 15 July 2005 at 2:05 am) How hard it is Greg tells the press that, although he is very happy with the buy-in and fields at the WSOP as they are, he reckons that if a player emerges at the age of 21 and is the best in the world, if the fields remain this big he could play every main event for the rest of his life and only have a 1 in 50 chance of winning it. We ask him how he is finding all the attention this year compared to 2004, he says it doesn't make much of a difference, he takes each hand as it comes and doesn't need to get into any 'zone' whilst playing, he just tries to make the right decision every time with the information he has. The main problem he encounted as a result of his fame he tells us is "the time it takes to get to the men's room". (Friday, 15 July 2005 at 1:12 am) Defending champion out raymerout.jpg

Re: WSOP Update Cheers stereoman....that was indeed the final 10 although they actually kept playing until the final 9 for the "tv" final table...they only just this minute reached it when A10s cracked someones QQ on a flush/overcard draw. Daniel has made it, he has about 6mill in chips I think (not sure, no official counts available - at one point with 12 players left he went from 2mill to over 6 mill on the chip counts without a big hand being mentioned?? who knows). GET IN THERE!!!! Jez

Re: WSOP Update Hmmm. Yeah, I should have stuck around longer as Andy lost a ton of chips and Aaron fights his way back to end the day as chip leader! Date / Time: 2005-07-15 02:31:00 Title: Tex Barch Doubles Up Through Andrew Black Log: Hand 41 - Andrew Black has the button in seat 2, Matusow raises to $260,000, Lazar calls, Black calls, Barch reraises to $1,000,000, and everyone folds to Black, who thinks long and hard. After a few minutes, Black reraises all in. Now the million-dollar pressure cooker is in full force on Tex Barch, who counts out his chips as he considers the call. Andrew Black looks relaxed as he takes a drink from his water bottle, and then watches Barch count his chips. Barch takes a good look at Black, who was looking down and shuffling his chips. When Black looks up, their eyes meet for a moment, and Black smiles at the surprise. About ten seconds later, Barch makes the call. Andrew Black shows Kh-Js, while Barch has pocket jacks (Jh-Jc). This is the biggest pot of the tournament, and whoever wins this pot will be our chip leader. If Black wins, he'll take a commanding position headed to tomorrow's final table. If Barch wins, he'll put himself in great position as well. The crowd is yelling for their favorites when Mike Matusow stands up and light-heartedly says, "Keep it down! I'm trying to concentrate!" The flop comes Ah-4d-3c, and Barch is still in the lead with the jacks. Black needs to catch a king or a runner-runner straight to eliminate Barch. The turn card is the Qs, and the crowd lets out a huge reaction to the paint on the board. Black has picked up some more outs, and he can win with a ten or a king (7 outs). The crowd goes quiet, with random exclamations from the crowd asking for specific cards. The river card is the 3h, and most of the crowd applauds as Tex Barch doubles up in chips. After the hand, Andrew Black stands up, smiles, and waves to the crowd, as if to say, "That's alright. Let's play poker." Date / Time: 2005-07-15 03:06:00 Title: Ayhan Alsancak Eliminated in 10th Place ($600,000) Log: Hand 53 - Ayhan Alsancak has the button in seat 4, Kanter raises to $400,000 from under the gun, and Alsancak calls. The flop comes 7h-3h-3c, Kanter bets $600,000, and Alsancak thinks a bit before raising all in. Kanter calls immediately. Alsancak shows pocket queens (Qh-Qc), while Kanter has Ah-10h (overcard, flush draw). Alsancak is in the lead, and Kanter needs to catch an ace, a heart, running threes, or running tens to win. The turn card is the 10s, and Kanter will win with a ten, an ace, or a heart (13 outs). The river card is the 8h, and the crowd explodes into a cheer because the night is over. Ayhan Alsancak is eliminated in tenth place, earning $600,000. [For the record, Matusow's big blind was raised, and he looked at his cards, and he folded. But somebody had called ahead of him, so perhaps that gives him an escape clause from his promise of reraising from his blind when raised.] ========== Play starts at midnight GMT so I've got until then to think about it (if much thinking and analysis is allowed at all). When they return they'll probably start off like this: 6. Joseph Hachem - $5,420,000 (seat 1) 3. Andrew Black - $8,140,000 (seat 2) 2. Tex Barch - $9,330,000 (seat 3) 7. Daniel Bergsdorf - $5,270,000 (seat 4) 4. Mike Matusow - $7,410,000 (seat 5) *small blind* 1. Aaron Kanter - $10,700,000 (seat 6) *big blind* 9. Brad Kondracki - $1,180,000 (seat 7) 5. Steve Dannenmann - $5,460,000 (seat 8) 8. Scott Lazar - $3,370,000 (seat 9) Ladbrokes have match-betting, Paddy Power are concentrating a little on Andrew Black and the first one knocked out. That's it regard specials but Pinnacle have a ton o' match-ups. Bet365 make Mike Matusow the 7/2 favourite (Pinnacle go 321/100) with Ladbrokes 4/1 on 'The Mouth', Blue Square make Andrew Black their 9/2 favourite (Stan James go 4/1 on Andrew Black) and Paddy's go with the chip leader Aaron Kanter at 4/1.

Re: WSOP Update All right guys. MrM - I met daniel and his girlfriend somewhere you are going to be next year - the ladbrokes cruise! Well to be more precise, we met in venice. Both of us were equally lost trying to navigate the crazy streets of venice with loads of luggage on our way to the port so we joined forces. Of course we arrived several hours early and all of us spent the rest of the time in the bar getting to know each other. Both him and his gf are great people. Daniel introduced me to this swedish thing called snus...its like tobacco but you put it in your mouth (not chewing...you just leave it on your lip) - weird + you cant get it over here - it gave me a strange light feeling then a headache after I totally overdid it despite daniels warnings :lol. After that we partied on the cruise together, discussing poker strategy (he was a pro like me back then as well, playing at about the same level (well before this anyway!)), playing hearts and getting drunk. I also taught him to play blackjack in the onboard casino :lol. Mia however kicked both our asses and won the incabin hearts tournament :o :o Since then we have kept in touch via MSN and looked out for each other in online games - the last tourney I can remember him being in a final in was a 50 dollar party poker one :lol. I chatted with him the week before he left for the main event. Although, like the internet sites are reporting ,he won his seat in a 33 dollar rebuy, he was lamenting to me how it had cost him 3k in attempts to get a seat at the main event. I told him not to worry, it would be worth it and I would be looking out for his name in the results as they came through - I never imagined anything like this tho! We had already agreed we were gonna get back on the laddies cruise again - I hope this time we have a WSOP main event champion on board! Pissing me off im on a different computer from my normal one at the moment, otherwise I would put a pic of the four of us on the cruise up but nevermind - soon he is too be famous worldwide :drums. Like I said before, Daniel and Mia (his gf) are definately two of the good people in this world, they are in their twenties like me and I hope what happens tonight sets them up for life - I've never personally known anyone in a final of this magnitutde before and I am worried - I cannot even begin to imagine what they are like! CMON DANIEL!!!!!! :hope :hope :hope :hope :hope :hope :hope :hope :hope Martin

Re: WSOP Update I'm putting a £25 double with ladbrokes that: * Tex Barch at 10/11 will outlast Aaron Kanter * Daniel Bergsdorf at 10/11 will outlast Scott Lazar. Just a theory but I think people will want to attack Aaron and get at his chip lead whilst Scott Lazar will probably lose a coin-flip pretty soon needlessly or unluckily.

Yeh it's very popular in Sweden that. I remember coming across it when I was there (and also when I linked up with some Swedes in Italy). Wouldn't recommend getting into it though. I was told it causes a lot of nasty throat and mouth cancers over there.

Re: WSOP Update Lets hope he goes the whole way, no reson why not :hope Itd be awesome if you and him both got on the cruise! How often you gonna try, I presume youd be doing the $120 dailies. By the way also is Daniel Larrson (I think thats right) famous? Hes called fraggle on Laddies and I think I remember him being in an Aruba world poker tour event coming 2nd. Cos hes going on the cruise.

Re: WSOP Update Yeah he came 2nd in aruba 2003 that erick lindgren won....he played pretty well if I remember rightly and lindgren just caught every card going the whole final table (but to be fair to him he made the most of it!) I have seen him in some other things and would place him in the minor TV poker celeb class :lol Jez

Re: WSOP Update Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth are first up in doing the audio commentary for Cardplayer (daniel's leaving at 5am GMT as he's got one of those heads-up matches with Barry Greenstein) and are joined by Greg Raymer. Second hand, Mike Matusow's gone all-in on the button with KK and Scott Lazar has AA! Mike Matusow hits a king on the flop but Lazar needs runner-runner hearts! Scott Lazar gets runner-runner hearts! Mike Matusow is crippled! Mike has around $4 million left! :o

Re: WSOP Update Im gonna follow this while im playing. Fooking amazing hand for the second hand eh Stereoman?

Dannenmann v. Matusow: Aces v. Kings
Log:Hand 2 - Mike Matusow has the button in seat 5, Dannenmann raises to $250,000 from under the gun, Lazar reraises to $1,250,000, and Matusow moves all in. The action is coming fast and furious here early, as these players are ready to gamble for first place. The action is back on Dannenmann, who folds, but then Lazar quickly calls. Matusow shows pocket kings (Kc-Kh), and Lazar has pocket aces (Ah-Ad). Amazing. Matusow is gonna have to improve here. The flop comes Kd-Qh-6h, and the crowd explodes in a cheer as Matusow makes a set to take a strong lead. Dannenmann needs to catch an ace or a runner-runner flush to stay alive. The turn card is the 2h, giving Dannenmann a heart flush draw. Dannenmann can now win on any ace or any heart. The crowd oohs and aahs at the turn of events. The river card is the Jh, and Dannenmann makes a runner-runner heart flush on the river to pull victory out of the grasp of Mike Matusow, who walks off the stage, wandering around with his hands on his head. He's still alive, but he would have been the chip leader at the final table.

Re: WSOP Update I thought Mike got lucky on the flop but very unlucky on the turn and river. I'd have been 50% of the way for my WSOP final table double! :( Not the kind of start I'd want if I was Mike! :puke Matusow will probably be on tilt and be first out at this rate but with Brad on the button he's just picked up $240,000 in blinds and antes. Mike's raising again up to $250,000 with Steve on the button but soon enough someone will find a hand and will take Mike out of the tournament. Joe's raised to $1,000,000! Mike folds! Mike's on tilt! :lol :\
