Icongene
Rangers v St Johnstone Two teams at the top end of the table come together in what should be a tight clash. The home side are broken off of the park having stumbled through a draw and two defeats under caretaker manager Graeme Murty. The last match saw then beaten 2-1 at bottom of the table Inverness who hadn't won a game of football since October. Rangers have now have only one win in five (W1 D1 L3) and have kept one clean sheet in their last 7. St Johnstone, have established themselves under boss Tommy Wright as a right tough nut to crack. On a shoe-string budget he has established his team as one of the top 4 in the country for 2 seasons running and they will do the same this season. Their game is built around defensive structure but they have some dangerous players in the final 3rd and have scored in their last 3 fixtures v the Glasgow club. Rangers rarely score more than 2 goals in a match and St Johnstone average just 1.15 per away match so the stats here don't point towards a goal fest. But Rangers have gone btts in 8 out of their last 10 matches and I do expect any side currently taking the field v Rangers to have at least one or two CLEAR CUT CHANCES against them. BTTS 1.91 Inverness Caley Thistle v Celtic 1st and 12th face off here with both coming into the match in good spirits. Bottom club Thistle have had a torrid time of it in the league this season, finding themselves rock bottom for the majority of it. They have in recent weeks, shown some signs of revival, beating Rangers 2-1 last time out (1st win since October) and drawing (a) at Hearts 1-1. They have one defeat in the last four which came against tonight's opponents Celtic so by their standards they come into the game in decent form. However, I watched the Rangers games and for the 1st 40 minutes they were 2nd best and in the 2nd half it was a largely even contest. Celtic will not allow them the same luxury and their 6-0 win over ICT 2 weeks ago should give them confidence. Celtic on the other hand continue to steamroll past teams under Brendan Rodgers. 26 domestic wins in a row has seen them rack up a massive 24 point lead over 2nd place Aberdeen. Complacency shouldn't be an issue here as places are up for grabs for the Glasgow derby v Rangers in 2 weeks time. To add to this, Inverness are the ONLY side to take a point from Celtic in the league this season and Brendan Rodgers has been quoted as saying the team have a score to settle.Although it is the sides attacking prowess from the likes of Dembele, Sinclair and Forrest that have been getting praise, the defence has now managed to keep an impressive 7/8 clean sheets and given Celtic average 2.75 goals on their travels this gives them the perfect platform to build from on a handicap bet.
