Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015

Recommended Posts

Poor looking class 7 and a very small E/W chance is taken on trainer Mr J.Berry's mare. She has 13 runs under her with zero wins but might get close today under jockey J.Egan, Egan has three rides and could have a double or even a treble but we'll not be greedy and side with Mr Berry's sole runner of the day. She comes out Trap 1 and if she can avoid any major traffic problems might just take home a little dig money. 16:45 Kempton Pk - Magic Ice. 0.5 E/W Bet @ 14/1 Bet365 ''BOG''

Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015 3.20 Lingfield Suitsus 6/1 bet365 1 point win. Decent chance on the form of its last run and Luke Morris booked is a big positive for me. I also liked quickaswecan (11/2) who also might get improvement out of the jockey booking but I've gone for the 6/1 suitsus.

Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015 3.20 Lingfield Quickaswecan can be given a chance on his form on penultimate start when 3rd at Kempton off this mark, poor effort last time out at Southwell can be excused given the surface, but still requires a little more. Multitask was never unable to land a blow over 7f last time out but prior to that had been running well over 6f, that said this mark has always looked a little beyond him. Top Offer has also been creeping back up the weights since winning 3 starts back but is another that looks a little high in the weights. Varsovian has been a revelation this winter improving with every run this winter since switching to sprinting and the AW surface. Looked perhaps a little stretched by the 7f trip last time out but still a solid run in second behind a rejuvenated 7f specialist. The 3rd has also boosted the form by scoring since aswell. 1lb higher today but the return to 6f and this track should suit having been a 2 timer CD winner. 1pt win Varsovian 5/2 VC

Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015 15:20 Lingfield Varsovian 1pt win 5/2 (Bet365 BOG) Dean Ivory is a trainer I look out for at Wolverhampton and when paired with J Quinn, there is a decent Trainer and Jockey combination. Course and Distance winner on multiple occasions with a 40% (2/5) strike rate for this class of race. 5/2 looks a reasonable price.

Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015 Wed 7th Jan 2015 2.20 Lingfield (9 runners) Unibet Offer Daily Jockey/Trainer Specials Handicap Class 5, 5f , Standard, 4yo+, Win: £3234 This looks a wide open race and one in which I'm siding with the outsider of the field who could be better than the bare form suggests. ASK THE GURU was doing well enough LTO up until the 1f post in a better, 6f race LTO and the drop back to 5f and the ease in grade is to his benefit. He ran with credit throughout all of 2014, being beaten by a maximum of 4L the other contests he took part in, including a couple of decent placed efforts over C&D. Would ideally have liked the handicapper to be a bit kinder but think the 5yo can go well at a nice price. ASK THE GURU 0.5pt E/W @ 20/1 (BetVictor BOG)

Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015 Seeing that my first pick Varsovian has two backers already I will go for Innoko in the 6.40 at Kempton. Looks like being a cracking race with Archie's Advice and Salmon Sushi. Course and distance winner and having Morris on board should put him right up there. Innoko 6.40 Kempton 6-1 bet 365 (e/w) good luck to to those that follow

Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015 5.40 Kempton - History Book win @ 4/1 SkyBet History Book has been running well in defeat, finishing 2nd lto at Lingfield and the time before he finished 3rd at Wolverhampton so he is in good form. He has been put up 1lb to a mark of 83 for that 2nd but Ali Rawlinson takes off 5lbs and he is well worth his claim so he is effectively running off a mark of 78. This is his first try over 7 furlongs and he has looked like he has needed a small drop in trip as he hasn't really been seeing out his races over 1 mile+. The main doubt is that on his only run here he ran poorly and finished well down the field. However, with him only having the one run at the course, I am willing to forgive him the poor run and give him a second chance on the surface. The trainer is going well and has 5 winners from his last 10 runners and I feel History Book can add to the good record.

Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015 Taunton 3.10 - Bladoun (1pts win, 15/8 Bet365) Returned from a year lay off to win lto at Leicester and was very impressive in doing so winning by 7 lengths. Has been raised significantly as a result but such was the effort and way he travelled I think he can handle the weight here and if in the same mood will be hard to beat.

Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015 Kempton 7:10 - Seven Lucky Seven WIN @ 4/1 Bet365 Was 2nd here at Kempton two runs back off a mark of 62 and is only 3 pounds higher today and the drop back in trip should suit. Went off 6/4 fav at Wolverhampton last time out, travelled well but didn't pick up. He will trade low in running for sure, and needs it to drop right but has a solid chance.

Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015 L3.00 Summer Sounds 1pt Win 16/1 William Hill If this horse is fit, then the price here could be very generous and the early money for it this morning strengthens that case that the trainer has the horse ready. The horse actually ran a really decent race when finishing a staying on 4th over a shorter trip on heavy ground that (on breeding) would be too soft for it. Of real interest though is that this is a half brother to Felix Younger which is a really classy horse that has won Grade 2 hurdles and chases (and won 7 of its 17 races). I managed to get a bit on the exchanges last night at 27.0 and with the excellent Felix De Giles booked, this horse could go off much shorter if it looks fit in the paddock.

Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015 Taun 2.40 - Money for Nothing - win at 2/1 bog bet365 Looks a pretty uncompetitive handicap chase The current favourite is Pinkneys prince but I think he can be taken on. He looks decent but has only run twice in about 2 years so migh have some problems and he did fall last time out a couple of months ago. Went up 10lb for a nose win in the race before that My selection is the obvious alternative having run well over CD last time and looking a likely winner until a poor jump at the last. He's still lightly raced over fences and comes from a good yard (King)

Re: Nap of the Day - Wednesday 7th Jan 2015 5.40 Kempton: Class 4 Handicap, 7f - Democretes: Won last time in 2011 and never won off higher than 78 and never beyond 6f, however been placed on numerous occasions off much higher up to 1m. Down to more realistic mark and down in grade, though didn’t quite excel on AW yet. - Brigliadoro: Still not too many miles on the clock, won over CD off 10lb lower in October last year. Shoulder beaten over CD lto, up 5lb in the mark. More improvement required again today. - History Book: Lightly raced, won debut over 9f at Wolverhampton two years ago. Change of tactics saw him go close over 1m lto at Lingfield, when making all and tiring very late. Drop to 7f for the first time, 5lb claimer booked. - Stonefield Flyer: Two times CD winner. Couldn’t follow up on November success in last two but ran with credit and still on fair mark. Won off higher in the past. - Eastern Dragon: Soft ground loving gelding, also goes well on AW. Hasn’t been seen since Ocrober when 3rd at Newmarket. Return to AW interesting and won after break in the past, but on career highest mark and up against it. - Rouge Nuage: Improved on AW last year and won over 7f at Wolverhampton LTO. Likely to be up with pace. Career highest mark to defy. - Marjong: Seemed to find 7f too far in the past, however consistent when last seen end of summer last year. Chance on good handicap mark. - Pactolus: Lightly raced one time maiden winner over CD last winter. Ran okay since then in 2014 without winning. Back after break and not impossible that he has still more to offer. Verdict: The lightly raced Pactolus looks an interesting prospect if fully fit. He has potential to improve from what he has shown in the past and as the bottom weight with a 7lb claimer on board, he has any right to be a prominent choice in the betting. The fact that he hasn't won since getting off the mark in a very poor Kempton maiden is something to worry about though, in a tough competition, as this is. Therefore his short price doesn't appeal to me at all. Brigliadoro looks a very fair price, considering his fine form. He may still have a bit improvement left in him and his recent close second proves that he is in good order. However up in the mark by five pounds for this recent performance makes the task more difficult today. He is nonetheless one who should have the ability to go close, yet the improvement is very much reflected in the price already. Stonefield Flyer won off higher than his current mark in the past and was back in form with a CD success in November. He couldn't quite live up to his revised mark, even though he ran well enough. He's got any chance to be thereabouts today, but it is a question mark if he is really better than an 80 rated animal these days. Marjong gets a chance from the handicapper and a fair run is on the card if he can stay the trip, which he found rather beyond him in three starts to date. He's been consistent though, and therefore needs to enter calculations. Eastern Dragon could be interesting back on the All-Weather now, however he appears not handicapped to win. The top weight Democretes finds it tough to win and his record speaks against him in this competitive field. Godolphin's History Book in contrast is one who makes plenty of appeal to me. A consistent performer, goes well on the All-Weather and looked a ready winner last time at Lingfield until caught in the dying strides. A drop to 7f for the first time is certainly interesting and with new positive tactics could be exactly what he needs to get finally his head in front again. He is still lightly races with a bit improvement possible to come, and with a fair handicap mark to play with as well as a decent 5lb claimer booked for the ride, he is the one to side with considering his tasty price tag in the betting which looks too big. History Book @ 11/2 VC
