What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015?

Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? Hope to be back pokering in 2015, albeit on a very low key basis again, at least initially. Health issues may still limit the number of live events I'm able to attend and may go through frequent inactivity spells.

  1. Meet up with as many PL members as possible for beer, banter & bellylaughs
  2. Live: Will try to qualify cheaply into at least one each of 25/25, GUKPT & GPS tours, health willing, maybe a UKIPT too but depends on locations. Very much doubt we'll see Poker Mag tour this year but will try to support as many as possible if they run.
  3. Online: May try to develop my cash game more, always been the worse aspect of my game and any improvement may help to refine tournament play further. The odd Sunday Majors from satellites are also probably achievable.
  4. Work on reducing frustration & tilt. Yep the perennial tricking one!
  5. Any profit is a bonus but would be aiming for 4 figures again subject to finding sufficient time to play.

Would be nice to get my first official Hendon flag (online GPS title & GUKPT Sats didn't count) and Vegas with $1k & $500 events now is tempting but these might not be realistic just yet. Good luck everyone in whatever you're looking to achieve this year, large or small. :ok

Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? Soks, the last one was in autumn 2013 and held in Birmingham. There was an Omaha game daytime and NLHE in the evening. I think there were around 40-50 runners in the NLHE. This is the only one i have attended as ive only really been active on this site since the start of 2013 despite joining it in 2008. We didnt have one in 2014 but hopefully there will be one in 2015.

Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? My aims this year are going to be: 1) Qualify for a live tournament in the next bracket up from the ones I've qualified for so far e.g in the £400-£800 region, or even more if possible. Managed to get to quite a few £110-£250 thus far, and would like a crack at the next ones up. 2) Make it at least to the final 3 of something I qualify for in the live arena. Made a decent amount of final tables in the aforementioned events I've made it to but keep falling off the planet in 7th-4th. 3) Try to play less when tired (big shout out to tonight's flush royale players, currently playing with my chips :o ) and more when not tired. Pretty obvious really but I am terrible for loading up a tournament and feeling like I can't be bothered 5 minutes in. 4) Get my first 4 figure cash online. I've won amounts in £s and €s that WOULD be 4 figures if the tournament happened to be in $, but still not actually seen a cash amount credited to myself showing the 4 figures. Annoying! 5) Stop playing like a complete nincompoop in the local Friday night casino game I go to with my work colleagues. Have made a hash of it every time by just being ridiculous. Is anyone thinking of going to the Irish Open in April btw? I'm 99% sure I'm going and will play in the 'mini' main event. Still waiting for sats to start but I'm going to book the flights and hotel early and then probably just buy in if I can't win my way in. Got a few mates interested in going and it looks great fun. Flights are only £20 return at the moment as well.

Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? Ive just took poker up this year and learning the ropes still but i do win a fair share of 6 seater sit and gos , i mostly play these and few free roll tournies until i get better, or more experience. Only aim is to be in profit each week and withdraw even if its a small amount.

Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? its 2 years since my 4 figure cash on Stan James and my trip to Battle of Malta. Time to turn things round big time. 1. Another GPT cash. last one Oct 14 2. Another WPT qualification and a cash this time. Last qualification Nov 14 3. Another Live European Tounament qualification. Last qualification Nov 12 4. Qualify for WSOP this year for first time. A serious attempt this year.

Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? hmmmm....where do start... I have less time on my hands to play coupled with the remarkable changes in the poker landscape make this rather tricky...to be honest I would be very pleased if I can repeat my consistent cashing that I managed last year....I would like to bink the odd live seat or large added value prize but these opportunities are almost non-existent these days....if I can find the time and focus I would like to play one of the following - Unibet Open, UKIPT & EPT. One thing I do know is that I want to win a trip abroad rather then in the UK - so much more exciting and easier to get enthused about! I do plan to go to Vegas this year for WSOP...although if there are some tasty routes to satellite in I may give them a go...although sometimes I think it is now easier just to win the cash in regular mtts than get through the long winded satellite steps...

Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? With playing less and less MTTs due to time constraints it's hard to acheive all the things I'd like to be have some main goals for 2015 1. A profitable year (preferably 4 figures but some profit is good) 2. Clear MU with my SNG backer and start getting profit cuts (hopefully in the 1st quarter) 3. Play a decent live event (£220+) 4. Try get less frustrated /tilted ( have improved but still improvement needed) 5. Continue to ontribute to Punter's Lounge

Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? 1: Visit Las Vegas (preferable through online, to live). 2: Play more live (But i like my home comforts too much!). 3: Live tourni's that hopefully i would like to play in, are PL Poker meet up. Game in Sheffield in April. Any localish APAT games. Local 25/25's, and 10k Gtd's. Loch Ness poker open (November) 4: Loch Ness, Sheffield, and PL meet up, are really just to see good friends, any win is a bonus :) 5: I should play bigger buy ins online, so maybe will play more sats/steps. 6: To see lots of achievements from PL above/below, on PL personal bests 2015 thread.

Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? For me I have a baby on the way in May and hoping to get a mortgage so I have to be realistic here. I've had a decent start to the year poker wise but just to end up £5k plus in profit will do me. Others include 1. Stop with the terrible tilting behavior. 2. Stop playing all the other vices that come with poker like blackjack etc. 3. Make a notable live cash as it's been over 12 months since I've done that. 4. Play live in general as I don't do it much - in new places too. Try to always check out a local game when I go on a city break. 5. Get to a PL meetup. Edit - Just thought of another one. 6. To win my 100th 'bracelet'. Including today's win I have 86 tournament wins with more than 40 players.

Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? Not really got going this year. I made a great start on a Stan James freeroll only to lose internet connection on the final table and finish 9th for a disappointing $37 when i was looking at much much more. Played the Paddy added on a Friday a couple of times and a few STGs and actually lost all my 2015 winnings. However, some Pokerstars spin and goes have got me going and my yearly profit stands at £46. Work does not help me these days. Having moved to a new team, i have further distance to travel and often dont get in until 6.45pm starting the day at 7.30am. By the time i get changed, walk the dog and have my tea its often past 8pm and i just dont feel ready for a 3-5 hour tournament. Profit it profit though :)

Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? 1) To play more live games than I did last year 2) To final table a £200+ tourney 3) To cash in a £400+ tourney 4) To cash in a PLO tourney

2015 turned out to be a very difficult year for me regarding poker, mainly because I experienced my worst ever downturn starting in January and continuing to July. It was actually mid-November before I got back into the black for 2015 and I've had one decent cash since then too, so not the disaster I had feared at one point.

So to my ambitions from last January

1) Check. I played more games than 2014, but not as many as I would have had I not been losing.

2) Check. I final tabled the Grosvenor 25/25 in Huddersfied in October, finishing 8th for £720.

3) Check. I cashed in the GUKPT £1,090 ME in Blackpool in November, finishing 13th for £3850.

4) Fail. Didn't play any.

Hopefully, 2016 will be more profitable for me. How did everyone else do?

o.k....so I have had a pretty decent year I think...been consistent...binked a MPN package to Vienna, went to Vegas and had my most successful poker results there so far although I ended up not playing WSOP!

First line pretty much summed it up, didn't expect to be doing much and frequently inactive for long periods but:

  1. Managed to make it to the Punters Lounge Live event in Brum & Goliath in Coventry. So great to meet up with many established friends and make some new ones. PL Live is always an absolute highlight of the year for me, if you haven't been to one yet, do try to make it next year - it's a blast :ok Also great to meet up with Kev, Tony & others at Goliath, really good being part of a bigger team & railing when busto.
  2. Need to look back at my records (yep I record literally every tourney/satellite/cash table played and every cent won & lost), but vaguely recall having a few lame stabs at 25/25, GUKPT & GPS satellites. Usual thing of getting through to a few online final qualifiers but then playing rediculously poor.
  3. Have played a little more cash games than usual, but still find it utterly tedious and eventually I start to donk just for some action. More structure needed if I ever take it up seriously. Played a couple of bigger tourneys from satellite wins with the odd minor cash, nothing to write home about.
  4. Lack of volume mainly due to frustration & tilt, add to 2016 list lol.
  5. Again need to check my spreadsheet, but expected to be no more than region of +£80 to +£140. Tad more on top if you count a couple of converted 'free bets'. Extreme lack of any volume of tourneys meant no major gains (or losses).

Unexpected (& undeserved) bonus was my first non-Holdem live cash in the Punters Lounge - PLO ;)
