Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 16th Oct 2014 16.40 Brighton commanchero @ 11/2 pp proven stamina, has won on soft, decent Mark, trainer in form and a jockey I rate..... Wouldn't say 11/2 is great value in a big field at Brighton but pp are standout and I think it will go off shorter...

Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 16th Oct 2014 3.50 Wincanton - Hollow Penny 1pt win @ 5/1 Bet365 I think there's plenty to like about this ones chances in this. He has looked a much better horse since going over fences and was in the process of running a big race last time out before blundering when well positioned. This represents a drop in grade for the horse and he has also very kindly been dropped 2lbs by the handicapper. Tom Bellamy also takes off a further 5lbs so he does look to have every chance if he can cut out any jumping errors. He has no problems with quick ground and the Alan King yard are in fine form at the moment operating at a 46% strike rate. I am hopeful of a good run from Hollow Penny with the main dangers looking to be Al Alfa and Wiffy Chatsby.

Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 16th Oct 2014 5.00 UTTOXETER GOAT CASTLE @ 7/1 Betvictor Marked this down as one to be on next time after its run at this course LTO. Had not run for almost a year but ran well until tiring last. Step up in trip should suit today, slightly worried about the Jockey but he does take off what could be a valuable 10lb

Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 16th Oct 2014 B4.40 Olney Lass e/w 22/1 Betvictor This one is a real course specialist and gets its favoured soft ground here. The trainer has done a good job of getting the horses handicap mark down by racing it on ground that's been much too lively and it seems that today is the day it could be trying. The 22/1 looks sure to get snapped up and it might well go off at nearer to half those odds.

Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 16th Oct 2014 Wolv 7.30 - Dutch Art Dealer (1pts win, 3/1 Betfred) Impressive winner lto at Kempton with a 3 length winning margin having gone close at Newmarket the run before hand. He has gone up 7lbs as a reult of that win but the manner of the victory could mean a 7lbs rise might not be enough to stop him in this bid to follow up.

Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 16th Oct 2014 3.00 Uttoxeter: What A Good Night 6/4 Coral/PP First run for the Skelton team after a disappointing season with Twisty. One or two decent types have left that yard recently?? Anyway this horse won last year off a mark of 91 and comes here on 83 for his seasonal debut. Skelton has runners at both meetings but stable jockey has chosen to come here and i expect him to go very close in this company.

Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 16th Oct 2014 Uttoxeter 3:00 - What A Good Night WIN @ 6/4 Sky Bet What A Warrior, also previously trained by Twiston-Davies, absolutely hacked up on his first run for the Skelton's last week and the same cab happen here with this very well treated horse who has had his problems but the yard is absolutely flying. Looks like he only has Jim Job Jones to beat, who has done well but is very old.

Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 16th Oct 2014 3.40 BRIGHTON (Class 5 - 6f Maiden Stakes) BURNING THE CLOCKS @4/5 (bet365 #BOG) It's a 3 runners maiden and despite I can't completely discard Monsieur Valentino due to the fact an upset in this kind of races at Brighton is always possible I reasonably think this will be a matchup between my selection and Lackaday. Burning The Clocks is rated 76 (Lackaday 74), already three times in the first 3 in his career including lto when he finished no luck 3rd behind Field Game who eventually broke his tag, best RPR on turf for him was a very respectable 77 over C&D and given this my only (but big) concern is how he'll handle the heavy going today. He actually debuted pretty well on soft ground and my hopes are for a not so slow ground by the off time. Official going is heavy, GS in places and forecast says there won't be any rain today so great chances the ground won't deteriorate and maybe it's enough. Trainer in superb form lately with 3 winners in the last 2 weeks and 5 in the last 4 (strike rate above 25%) and a very positive record on heavy ground (11 from 49). Given these conditions I think, despite it's a sprint, this may turn out in a tactical affair and if it will no doubt I rate it a plus to side with the most proven jockey of the trio, George Baker. Market is pretty solid on Burning The Clocks and I rate him as a 8/11 chance.

Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 16th Oct 2014 15:10 Brighton Burma Bridge 1pt win @ 7-4 Bet Victor My selection was three and a half lengths second to the consistent Vegas Rebel in testing conditions over the course last week with the well fancied Delair 13 lengths back in third place. He is vying for favouritism with Brandon Castle who failed to improve on a smart debut run and whose ability to act on the the ground has to be taken on trust. I think the price is fair for Richard Hannon's charge to break his duck today.
