Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th St Etienne – Lille Both teams only have one injury of note, ironically at the same position. Right back is the problem spot here with Francois Clerc missing for the hosts and Franck Beria out for Lille. Sainte do have an issue because Jonathan Brison who will cover Clerc’s spot isn’t really a natural on the right hand side. He’s been been ok there, but is a clear downgrade. Lille meanwhile, do have a ready made replacement in Djibril Sidibe. He’s not as good as Beria but still talented and it’s his natural position. Both sides are pretty much at full strength in other areas of the field. It’s worth nothing that Kurt Zouma is back for Sainte following his 10 match ban, but he’s sure to be short of match fitness so might not start. The key thing to consider about this game is St Etienne’s preparations for it. Les Verts have had a hectic schedule recently and this will be their 4th competitive game in the space of 10 games – a highly unusual amount for a Ligue 1 team at this stage of the season. Their previous match was on Tuesday night away against lower ligue sides Cannes in the Coupe de France. They lost on penalties after 120 mins of action. Sainte did rest players for that match, but there’ll still be a handful of individuals who will be playing their 4th straight game in a very small period of time tonight. The physical effect isn’t the only aspect which should be considered here though. The mental side of things has to be analysed. Sainte suffered heartbreak by losing on penalties to Cannes, they even had two chances to win the shootout but missed them both! This is going to really hurt them mentally even if it was only the first round of the competition. The other worry I have for them here is lack of preparation. The Sainte coaching staff have had to prepare 4 different gameplans in the space of 10 days recently, there’s no way they’ll have had that much time to fully focus on this game. Lille have a massive edge in this department, its up to them to take advantage. Those who follow me regularly will know that I’ve been down on Lille this season compared to most people. I’ve continually said all along that Les Dogues aren’t as good as the public perception of them. But I have always acknowledged that they’re one of the top 5 sides in France. Lille are such a solid outfit and have an awesome away record. Since mid August they’ve only lost against Bordeaux on their travels which is no disgrace at all. LOSC have only conceded 5 away goals this year, 2 of which were against PSG which is understandable. They lost at home to Reims last week and coach Rene Girard is sure to demand a reaction tonight. With a rocket likely having been planted up their arses, and many other factors in their favour, I think they’ll draw at the very least in this fixture. The+0.25 line interests me a lot and I’m definitely siding with the visitors. If Sainte manage to pull out a victory here then fair play to them. Following their recent schedule of events, it’d be a massive achievement IMO, I just can’t see it. Prediction: St Etienne 0-1 Lille Recommended bet: Lille +0.25 @ 1.86 4/10

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th From what ive heard Basa will most likely miss this match for LOSC, which worries me when it comes to backing lille. Rock solid defence with 2 quite prolific missings does seem like a BTTS scenario, since Saints arent the most hospitable hosts in L1. But on the other hand I am worried about the game prep, and fatigue which is more than likely hampering the home side... Really tricky one to call, but I am sooo tempted... EDIT: went for it, loaded the game :D all bets on bet365: BTTS @ 2.1 for 7/10 DNB Lille @ 2.2 for 5/10 and a little for the extra rush Brandao anytime scorer @ 3.4 3/10

In this context, Lille clean sheet is tempting at 3.4 with Betway, but St Etienne seem to score a lot at home.

Great bets mate, Lille are really facing some troubles without 2 regular defenders. I skipped this one because of the many games St etienne played and normally Lille is rock solid at the back but just before the start when I saw the line-ups I really fancied St etienne.. Overall they are pretty strong at home and still rested half the team this midweek. Oh well, did not had the balls, better luck next time!

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th lol, I said I skipped the game? :D I only post if I'm confident enough sorry about the misunderstanding. Was just a feeling after seeing the line-ups just before the game started so no use to post anything. St etienne looked pretty strong and I was referring West64 about Basa missing. If we knew that earlier maybe even Meatman wouldnt have chosen lille who knows. That's what I ment when I said great bets wrong word choice I guess. Basa missing was crucial info. Brandao goal came in that's a nice call though.

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th I didn't see it but that's a really really poor result by Lille. Basa or no Basa there is absolutely no excuse for them not to at least score 1 goal tonight. They had many factors in their favour and by all accounts were bloody awful. Really illogical result, just goes to show a team playing 4 games in 10 games can mean fuck all sometimes. Good call on the Brandao ATS, shame you didn't back him 1st too!

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th True, you expect more from lille these days and at least one goal from Roux or Kalou. Their defense was rock solid before but if you miss 2/4 regs it would affect any team in the world. More previews to come! I really fancy Rennes and Lorient at home! will be back later at night!

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th After a short re-cap of the match im baffled as to how Lille failed to score at least a goal... That would round up my evening really nice, but then again im happy I took brandao which decreased my loss at this game to a bearable 5 units, and agree with meatie, wish I had put him 1st for a unit or two.. Basa missing, alongside Beria is what worked me up for the hosts scoring, but I never expected the team which fought so ferociously against PSG away would fail so harshly here... Anyways a GG in my opinion and I would probably place the same bets again in same circumstances :)

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th Lorient hosting Guingamp. I learned something out of my own experience.. Never bet a team away at guingamp! These guys are amazing when playing in their own stadium, really hard to crack and they constantly have a fair home record every year. But away from home, it's a totally different story. They've only recorded one win against poor Evian. 1-4-5 overall record which is not impressive. Last 3 games were draws though, so maybe a slight improvement for them. Anyways, they mostly play through their wings and try to find some space, pacey players with some technical skills but their midfield is not well linked with their attack. Often they just play the long ball hoping they will do something good with it upfront. Striker mandanne suffered a injury and will miss out. But forward Douniama and defender Lemaitre returned to training this week. Against a solid defense like Lorient guingamp will have to do more than just that what they always do otherwise it will be hard for them to find the net more than once. If they find it at all. Lorient played a good game away at FC Nantes and had the better chances, but they recieved a great counter goal. Pretty unlucky for them! Anyways, no hard feelings cause they played well. Aboukabar and Aliadere are always a threat upfront along with Jouffre and Monnet-Paquet on the wings they are dangerous. Barthelme is still out. Expecting the same 11 as last week. Lorient will likely dominate possesion here and push for a early goal like they did many times. Their home record is outstanding, only a loss against Marseille what is nothing to be ashamed off. 5-3-1 Overall record and teams other than the top teams are often a prey for Lorient. 5 wins in their last 7 games is quite good and I expect them to have the upper hand here. Odds are not great but I see nothing else than a home win here against these poor travellers. Lorient scored 2 or more goals in their last 6 out of 7 games. I have 2 bets for this game. Medium stakes on the home win. Lorient team goals over 1.5 with also medium stakes. Goodluck.

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th Stade Rennes hosting Evian TG. The hosts are having a bad season so far. They are low on the table and suffered a lot from injuries in their squad. Finally, almost everyone is back fit again except for Feret who suffered an injury last week[ not a great miss imo] and Pajot but he missed a lot of games. No big misses so they have to pick up points from now on, especially at their own stadium. No more excuses, Pitroipa is back for this game which is a good thing, he is important for Rennes and along with Kadir who returns in the centre now Feret is injured and Alessandrini behind Oliveira can be pretty deadly. They played a decent game against Nice and could have won it but they missed a 1st half penalty which is always a knock to the head. With a early goal you can shake off a lot of pressure. They really need a win here to get back on track and I have no doubts they will deliver sooner or later. Their home record is not bad, only a loss against PSG and Nantes. 3-4-2 is not impressive but I'm sure they won't end the season with these kind of home stats. They normally are pretty good at home like many French teams. They've had a nice week of rest so should be eager to bounce back! But to be honest with you guys, this is more a bet against Evian. Evian suffered their 4 consecutive loss this midweek in the cup against FC Troyes ligue 2 team within 10 days of time. It was not even a mixture squad and many of their first 11 players started. At home it's not that bad for Evian, but away they really struggle for points and for goals. Only 2 wins against rock bottom teams like Ajaccio and Valenciennes. Almost in every game they concede more than 1 goal so it's hard for them to win games. Tiredness should play a role here, 5 game in 2 weeks is tough and especially when you are on a losing streak. Sometimes it's not a bad thing to bounce back a couple of days later but so many losses lately requires some rest and tactical views on the games to solve problems. Berigaud their star striker earlier in the season has not found his good form at all lately and Evian are currently weak without his goals. They will miss central midfielder Tie Bi because of an injury. So except for him same squad is available for Evian. What to expect from the game? Rennes will likely put some pressure on Evian and try to hurt them as soon as possible. Evian is definitely wounded mentally and physically and a early goal could kill them. All in all, I expect a strong home performance and this is a must win for Rennes. If they can't win at home against Evian in this kind of form than really their season is lost. Evian conceded a lot of goals lately and although Rennes strikers are not in their best form I still fancy them to get atleast 2 goals within 90 minutes. Again same bets for me. Medium stakes on the home win! Medium stakes on Rennes team goals over 1.5! These are my main bets for this weekend! Goodluck guys.

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th Marseille – Valenciennes The hosts only have one player injured. That guy is Andre Ayew who remains on the sidelines, but he’s close to a return. Marseille did play on Wednesday night in the CDL away against Lyon and this will also be their 3rd game in the space of 6 days. However, a few players were rested in Lyon, plus OM are used to playing midweek games through their European adventures in recent years, so it shouldn’t be much of a negative factor for them. Valenciennes have no new issues to deal with. CB Lindsay Rose and striker Anthony Le Tallec remain sidelined. New signing upfront, Majeed Waris is again in the squad, fresh after scoring on debut last weekend. Results under Jose Anigo might not have been that brilliant so far, but you can’t deny that OM have been much more offensively threatening under his guidance. It’s true they’ve looked leaky at the back too, but this is a vast improvement upon Elie Baup who was always so negative. Baup would be content to score a goal and then just hold onto the lead, but Anigo demands more goals. And with the offensive talents at their disposal, OM fans quite right demand decent football and goals too. There were some signs before the winter break that things were starting to click, and again last weekend they looked pretty decent against Evian, even managing to come from behind to win. Valenciennes have improved recently too and should be fresh full of confidence following back to back wins against Monaco and Bastia. But I don’t fancy them here at the Velodrome today. I just think Marseille will create too many chances against them and ultimately outscore the visitors. Marseille are still a power team in France and ultimately at the end of the season I don’t think they’ll be too far off 3rd place. I expect them to have a strong 2nd half to the campaign anyway with only the ligue and potentially CDF to focus on. For Valenciennes this is a big game, they see OM as a big rival based on past histories. It’s been a long long time since they last won here and I expect them to go away empty handed again. This should be an open game of football but OM’s goalscoring potential may well lead them to covering this -1 handicap, so I’ll stick a few units on the hosts. Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th Nice write ups Senk. Good luck with your bets. Without having looked at those games in detail I fancy the overs in both of them. Each match should be pretty open and contain goals. I am always wary of backing against Guingamp anywhere, this team has a lot of fight in it. But overall I would favour Lorient too. Rennes should win but there is pressure on them at the moment. Evian are in a terrible rut though so Rennes might just win by only playing to an ok level.

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th Lorient – Guingamp Both teams are fairly unaffected by injuries, which makes a change for Lorient who usually have loads of players in their infirmary. Its true that no1 GK Fabien Audard is still out, but he’s not that important anymore. They also have a few midfielders missing, but nobody that would be a regular first choice starter. Guingamp have striker Christophe Mandanne ruled out but no other injury concerns. Mandanne is only useful at best anyway and not a prolific goalscorer. This is a Brittany derby match and both teams will fight hard here. It will be 4-4-2 vs 4-4-2 so it should be an open game of football. Lorient love to attack, its their main strength and they play lovely attractive football, especially here on their own artificial surface. Guingamp can respond though and despite having been involved in a number of low scoring contests recently, I could definitely see them getting involved in a potential shootout. I’m not sure who’s going to win tonight. If I had to stick my neck out then I’d say Lorient because they are at home, but Guingamp can’t be underestimated. Overall I just see a really exciting match containing a few goals. Over 2.25 is my fancy and I think this is a generous line at a nice price. It’s true that Guingamp have ended under 2.5 in all of their last 9 games, but as I said, this is the sort of fixture in which they could get sucked into a potential shootout. I just don’t see it being a defensive minded contest. Prediction: Lorient 2-2 Guingamp Recommended bet: Over 2.25 goals @ 2.0 4/10

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th Sochaux – Montpellier Both teams have the same injuries as last week. There is nothing really significant on either side apart from long term casualties. Sochaux’s most recent concern has been Roy Contout, this will be the 2nd straight game he misses. These sides have one thing in common, both have changed their manager in recent weeks. Between Herve Renard and Rolland Courbis combined though, there’s just one win between them. Renard knew he was taking over a big project at Sochaux, but I don’t think even he envisaged it’d be this hard. To be fair to Courbis, Montpellier have had some tough fixtures since he took over, now finally he gets to play one of the poorer teams. This is a huge match for both teams, especially Sochaux. If they lose tonight then they’ll be 9 points from safety, but if they win then the deficit will be reduced to just 4. So clearly the stakes are really high, you could argue that they need to win this match to give themselves a chance of staying up. Without doubt, this is a genuine relegation ‘6 pointer’ The good news for Sochaux is that they have definitely improved under Renard though, even if results don’t necessarily show that. Offensively they look pretty decent and I think they’ll go broke in a fixture like this, it’s completely a ‘do or die’ situation. In terms of odds, there’s no way that Sochaux should be slight underdogs. With home advantage I’ll give them a whirl here on a DNB line. They won their last match at home to Rennes so maybe they can do it again. Prediction: Sochaux 2-1 Montpellier Recommended bet: Sochaux 0AH @ 2.05 4/10

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th Rennes – Evian Rennes have CB Sylvain Armand injured which is a big loss. He’s been a stable rock for them at the back this season, although Philippe Montanier does have plenty of young potential replacements. Playmaker Julien Feret is also injured, but he’s not played a big part for them this year and unlikely to be missed that much. The most notable Evian injury is to midfielder Eric Tie Bi. Their squad is generally in good condition but this will be their 4th match in 10 days. They’ve lost their last 3 encounters so won’t exactly have too much confidence at the moment. For a team like Evian, to play this amount of games in such a short space of time. without any squad rotation spells big trouble. I really fancy Rennes strong in this match. They have so much in their favour I just don’t see how they don’t take advantage. Evian just seem so low right now and are having all sorts of problems. They will likely be physically and mentally fucked here and could end up losing quite heavily IMO. Rennes are nothing special and there is some pressure on them right now, but that usually means they’ll respond. The Bretons are due a win and this looks like the ideal opportunity,. The game should be open and contain a few goals, Evian just don’t know how to defend and will leave holes at the back. Rennes -0.75 and over 2.5 here both look like decent plays to me. Prediction: Rennes 4-1 Evian Recommended bets: Rennes -0.75 6/10 & Over 2.5 goals @ 2.10 4/10

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th Bastia – Bordeaux The big injury news for Bastia here is that goalkeeper Mickael Landreau is ruled out. He’s one of their best players and often makes a number of key saves so will be missed. Jean Louis Leca will take over in between the sticks and is a clear downgrade. Bastia don’t have any other worries though except new signing Djibril Cisse is out for about 10 days. Bordeaux still have to deal with the absence of CB Marc Planus, whilst the attacking duo of Diabate and Jussie are sidelined too. Les Girondins played just 4 days ago in the CLD against PSG which was quite an energy sapping encounter. 3 of 4 important players were rested for that fixture, but I still think its a negative factor for Bordeaux to deal with, especially as they lost. Bastia have been out of form a bit in their last few matches. Since they beat Evian in the Ligue 2-0 back on Dec 1st they’ve failed to win, except beating the same opponent in the CDF early January. Bastia are a completely different side at home and away though, they are also a different animal with key playmaker Wahbi Khazri in their side. There has been some talk linking him with a move away from the club this window, so he’ll be keen to catch the eye of any potential buyers tonight. Bordeau were absolutely horrible last week against Toulouse and if they play like that here they’ll suffer defeat again. With the potential of a cup hangover too, I’ll take Bastia on this DNB line. They have a great home record, although it must be noted that Bordeaux have only lost once on the road this year. The draw is certainly a possibility, thats why some cover on this line is needed. Prediction: Bastia 1-0 Bordeaux Recommended bet: Bastia 0AH @ 2.05 5/10

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > January 17th - 19th No bet for Nice - Ajaccio. The match is in doubt if it'll even start because of rain and a bad pitch condition. Even if it does go ahead, it makes things rather unpredictable. I just can't see how the pitch plays properly.
