Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th Catania V Bologna Catania -0.25 @ 4/5 (Pinnacle) > 2 Units Terrible first half of the season for Catania but in fairness they've been a team disrupted by a poor summer market and then injuries to key players once the campaign was underway. The likes of Barrientos and Bergessio have recently returned and I would expect the rossazzurri to improve after the winter break. They've already received a great boost in the January transfer window with key midfielder Francesco Lodi returning on-loan from Genoa, it was his depature in the summer window which had a large contribution towards their current plight. His return alone will be a massive shot in the arm for morale and will certainly elevate the atmosphere at the Stadio Angelo Massimino for Monday's game with Bologna. The word on the street is that Lodi is set to play against Bologna so the quality of Catania should be raised aswell as morale + intent. As for Bologna, we're starting to get reports that CB Sorensen, RB Garics and FW Diamanti are all out for the Catania game, they're all first teamers but Sorensen and Diamanti are particulaly crucial and their absence will hit Bologna hard. In addition, I am not a massive fan of Bologna on the road, they can be very tough to beat on their own patch but rarely travel well. We should see this as a winnable fixture for Catania and one that made my shortlist even before hearing any team news. Should be noted that we dont have the official convocati of either side at this early stage but I am pulling the trigger now as the Catania price is starting to shorten as we speak. I find it unlikely that Catania will loose this game and given the circumstances that surround this match I feel the home side on the -0.25 line @ 4/5 has some long term value.

Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th Roma are unbeaten all season but they face a huge challenge when they face Juventus at their Turin fortress. Juventus have won every single home game this season and have conceded just once in their last 9 Serie A games reaching top form after a slow start. Their slow start cost them in the Champions League but they clawed back the deficit to Roma in the league and now lead by 5 points looking fairly unstoppable in Seria A as they have been during Conte's reign. Vidal and Tevez are playing at the top of their game at the moment and will be key if Juve are to continue their fantastic home record. Roma have been superb this season although they slowed a little while Totti was out injured. De Rossi and Strootman have been incredible in the middle and have raised the Roma to another level. They now have a fully fit squad to pick from but they'll come short against a Juve side in full flow I feel. Turin is a proper fortress for the home team and there's some nice value on a Juve win here. 4pts Juventus to win @ 1.7 PaddyPower

Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th This match is comparable to Roma's recent away fixture at the San Siro. In that match Roma arguably played the better football and it felt like it was 1-2 forever. Roma weren't ruthless with Milan like they should've been and got a sucker punch towards the end to get a 2-2. Now this was a Milan who a few days earlier had struggled and survived their way to a 0-0 with Ajax who had a man advantage after Montolivo's red card early on. Ajax trashed them in terms of passing movement opportunities etc but Milan just knew how to survive. So therefore I expected Roma to go there and at least get a draw but the way the match played out Roma would of felt embarassed not to have killed their opponents off that Monday. Now if Roma were so "back and forth" and more or less even at the San Siro it shows me that they have no hope of winning in Turin. Now I think Juve are more likely to win than draw but it they are flat then I can see a draw being possible. The mail difference is that Juve have more players with the killer instinct in front of goal who can smell danger. Roma don't really have a goal scoring animal that strikes fear into defenders' hearts and their goals come from team build up play and Gervinho working angles from wide positions. I can't see Roma scoring more than once here. This will be a most hostile atmosphere. These are the main threats to Juve's precious scudetto paying a friendly visit to "say hi" and believe me, the welcoming committee will pull out all the stops to give them a "fitting reception" :D But it's not only the fans who will be up. The Juve players know they are up against an undefeated team. Undefeated. It's like laying down a direct challenge saying "here we are, come get us". So I think the whole Juve 11 will play big from the start also because being out of the CL this could well be the biggest game from now till the end of season you never know. So I think a home win here but am just taking the +0 AH in a double as I'm happy with my form atm and don't need the added risk. GL ALL :ok

Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th Juventus - Roma * These two teams met in Serie A 158 times. Juventus won 74 games, lost 37 * Roma won only one match against Juventus of Turin in the last ten (= 3-6) * Juventus won 9 league games in a row. Only in 1932 was achieved a longer winning streak in a single season * Goal Maxi Morales in the last round broke a series Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon without receiving goal, which lasted 745 minutes of playing time - a record for a goalkeeper in a single season * Only Juventus this season, won all their home games championship in Italy * Juventus has won 14 of the last 15 home matches in Serie A * In 5 of the strongest European championships except only Roma, Bayern Munich still has not lost a single match of the championship * Roma this season, conceding only 7 goals - less than any other else in five strongest European leagues * Juventus this season, scored the most goals in Serie A (39) * This season for Roma scored 13 different players - the most in Serie A * Roma agoalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis (11) and Juventus Gianluigi Buffon (10) this season, spent most clean sheets One of the most attractive matches in the championship fell in the first round after the Christmas and New Year holidays. Roma really surprised many this autumn with the results and the game when a long time was ahead of the peloton. Although after a strong start and followed by a decline , wolfs goes 17 rounds undefeated. Drags the team forward a very solid middle line , but the attackers clearly not enough. Juve autumn was not so bright, in the first place Champions League failure. Participation in Europa League - still not the caliber for the "Old Lady". However, it was in December when Juve again regained the top spot of the championship. The other candidates (Napoli , Milan, Internazionale) for various reasons almost opted out of the fight for the Scudetto. Home stadium , experience and teamwork must now become decisive factors in favor of the success of Juventus. Losses in the compositions of the teams before the match minimal. Juve can not rely on Barzagli , but again in the team Pirlo and Pepe. Roma missing due to injury Balzaretti. Tip: Juventus 1.75 Marathonbet

Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th Thought that was a tactical masterclass from Conte tonight, Juve let Roma have the ball for long periods in the knowledge they didn't have the ability to get through their well organised defensive third. Juve always looked like they had the ability to open up the Roma defence, and Roma's frustration was very clear near the end with De Rossi's daft sending off and Ljajic could easily have followed the other two, he looked pis*ed off all game. I don't watch that much Italian football but I thought Roma looked a big price pre-match, I guess I now see why they were so high..

Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th Yeah, fantastic performance from Juve. Vidal and Tevez again were excellent and Roma had no answers. Roma were poor but when you face a Juventus side in this sort of form most sides would struggle. Napoli will finish second for me while Roma scrap it out for the final CL spot with Fiorentina and possibly Inter if they can get one or two quality players in January. Rossi could be a huge blow for Fiorentina though.

Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th

Careful backing Napoli from now on mate. Something tells me that this team is going to go backwards before it goes forward. A lot of bookies aren't giving much credit to them in futures markets and they are looking like a one trick pony. Reason two: BENITEZ. Watch.
Maybe it's because they need a creative midfielder.Today they will be without Hamsik once again.Reina is still out too.Given Sampdoria's good run of form the value is with them on some sort of handicap.Personally i will go further and take a risk with a low scoring draw here.Napoli is going to struggle from now on i think.Their midfield is not working properly and it will affect the numer of goals they score.

Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th

Sampdoria have a crisis and do not possess the magical weapons needed to quell the Napoli invasion..
I wouldn't call a run of five undefeated matches a "crisis" Keep in mind Mihajolovic took over in November and they have no absent first team players. Reina, Hamsik, Behrami, Mesto, Zuniga & Cannavaro out for the host. Eder could cause damage and might be "magical" tonight :) Napoli is a huge favorite. Perhaps too big.

Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th Hi all, I haven't posted for a while but keeping my eye out for potential good value. As im at work the early games are a no bet for me but the Lazio v Inter game catches my attention. I specialise in Corner betting as I find it both interesting and profitable (although very fustrating at times due to the nature of the beast) Although corners are the bye product of an attack they often offer an angle on a match which would otherwise be a no-bet. Today sees struggling Lazio under a new coach but even if their form improves the one thing that could remain is the low corner make up. Recent home matches have seen them beaten on corners to lesser sides and even with a + handicap I would struggle to back them. Inter on the other hand do not usually struggle to rack up the corners. They have an attacking approach to games and an stretch the play with quick direct players such as Gaurin, Nagatomo, Palacio and Johnathan. Inter to win more Corners are avaliable at evens, 8/5 (-1) and 4/6 (+1) all Hills. I would recommend the evens for most corners and for small stakes (-1). The 4/6 (+1) might only appeal to big hitters but I would strongly reccomend the bet. Cant see Lazio winning more corners than Inter. If it finishes level on corners or with more Inter corners its a winner. Good Luck all

Thanks I will look into it. Totally offtopic but as you say you specialize in corners do you perhaps know of a good website where to find reliable info on corner statistics? Corners market seems very interesting to me but I do not have a good source yet.

Hi Ziener, I usually use flashscore.com or Soccerway to find the match stats, if you click on the individual fixture on flashscore and select H2H (Head to Head) in the pop up box it will give you all the teams individual matches and as long as it was a main match (league, main cup etc) and the main stats, possession, corners etc. Hope this helps mate. I will be waiting for the line-ups before taking my bet as Lazio have a new coach but if all is as expected i will be having large stakes plus a corner for Inter, medium stakes on Inter to take more corners and small stakes on minus 1 inter. It is a risky stategy because ocasionally strange things happen on corners but I find all the odds very resonable. Hope to hear from you soon and good luck if you follow.

Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th Current Prices: Lazio 31/20, Draw 12/5, Inter Milan 21/10 My Tissue: Lazio 9/4, Draw 9/4, Inter Milan 6/4 The clear value this evening for me is a bet on Inter Milan who according to my own personal tissue offer very decent value at 21/10. The northerners are 11 points clear of Lazio going into tonights game and although Lazio have won their last 3 home meetings against Milan, they have hit a poor run of form. They have only won 1 of their previous 5 games and that was a win at home to Livorno who are 19th in the league. They are without Redu, Alvarez and Mauri this evening whilst Milan are missing Campagnaro, Chivu, Taider and Mariga. Ricardo Alvarez could return which would be a huge boost for Inter as he has scored a few goals this season from midfield already. Lazio sacked their manager recently and this is the new manager Eduardo Reja's first game as coach, and it will be a very tough game for him. Inter have not been as good as they would have hoped this season but they have some very dangerous players and I am surprised at how big their price is. They have only lost 2 of their last 20 games in all competitions, had a good win against AC Milan last time out and have only lost 1 of their last 9 away games. 8 of the last 11 meetings of this pair when Lazio played at home finished Under 2.5 goals so there seems to be good value backing the unders tonight. Not sure if you've seen but BetVictor are offering much better odds (2.5) on the corners market than Hills here. I've followed you on this one after looking into it as well, so thanks. I found this seemingly nice site for corners stats for this match too. http://www.simplesoccerstats.com/consoles/Corners.php?lge=8&season=0 (Choose Lazio v Inter from the drop down). http://www.oddschecker.com/football/italy/serie-a/lazio-v-inter/most-corners

I have only just seen this but Lazio have had more corners than their opponent in 3 out of their last 4 matches. In those matches they have racked up 33 corners and have only conceded 9 corners, therefore your post seems wildly inaccurate.

Staked - 16 Returns - 18.33 Small profit with the unders. Lazio didn't deserve to win that game for me, but they did :lol I think a 0-0 would have been a fair result, it was a shocking game of football.

Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th I only take the stats for home teams when looking at the home teams stats and the same for the away. Teams generally play a different game dependant on if at home or away. Lazios last two at home saw them beat on corners by Livorno and Napoli. They beat Genoa by 1 in the game previous to that (just taking into account league games for consistancy) and lost on corners again the game before that at home to Calgiari. That make 3 out of the last 4 home league games which they have lost on the corners with Napoli as the only top team. It finished 5-4 to Lazio but watching the game was a real dissapointment because Inter had alot of possession down the wings, Corners can bite you because as I said earlier, they are the bye product of an attack, no attacking team sets out to win a corner, they happen because the defending team has either blocked the ball or the keeper put it behind from a shot. I have been betting on corners for around 4 years and although you do have set backs, betting is betting! Watch how teams play closely, study the stats, correctly, and look for an angle from which you can profit. I will continue to do this as I have found it profitable and in general you will find a bet on them which you might feel isn't correctly priced. If you do this in the long term you won't go wrong.

Re: Serie A > January 5th & 6th

its frustrating because you dont know which inter mllan will turn up. i had bts and inter normally always score' date=' it hurts :( now what?[/quote'] Well remember Inter a are young team. Young means erratic. Cambiasso is really their only been there done that player. They were also missing a few starters for the match. I stay away from backing these sort of teams unless all circumstances are in their favor.

Thanks Das Phantom for drawing my attention to the Catania game. Lodi and Bergessio were the main protagonists by the looks of it just as you figured. Now we should see a rise in their home performances which served them so well last season. And hopefully the bookies don't catch on too quick :ok
No problem mate, pleased for Catania, they needed that win for sure. We'll see how the markets react over the next few weeks, transfer window will make things interesting across the board.
