Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August Middlesbrough V Blackpool Middlesbrough -0.25 @ 4/5 (Pinnacle) 2 Units Quite like the look of Middlesbrough here, a decent 3pts for them against Charlton at the weekend but more importantly they have added a couple more pieces to the puzzle recently. Frazer Richardson at RB looks to be a shrewd aquisition while Albert Adomah balances out Mustapha Carayol in the advanced exterior postions. I wasn't sure about Middlesbrough at the start of this campaign but their first eleven is looking pretty balanced now and the home match V Blackpool this weekend should be seen as an opportunity to gain 3pts. Blackpool have had a great start to the season - taking maximum points from both games but that was against Donny and Barnsley. The latter contest should have ended in a draw so Paul Ince's side have pushed their luck somewhat. Tom Ince misses out again this weekend while Matt Phillips is still injured. Blackpool with a thread bare squad really struggle to create without these two players and the tangerines will surely be put to the test this weekend at the Riverside. If Blackpool lineup with their usual 4-4-2 I think they will struggle in the middle of the pitch against Middlesbrough's 4-2-3-1. Whitehead, Varga and Leadbitter will surely control that central median area so I feel Ince's side will find it harder to retain the ball here. The big question will be can Middlesbrough convert their control over the game into goals? Their biggest problem has been putting opponents out of sight in recent times so if Middlesbrough do win here it's likely to be by a narrow margin. Having said that I really don't expect Blackpool to win here so Middlesbrough on the -0.25 line is worth a shot imo. The baseline value is around 1.75 for the Boro -0.25 line in my view here so anything above that is takeable as things stand. The price has already fluctuated a fair bit today so I've decided to stick a couple of units on it early so I'm not fretting about the market for the rest of the week. Sods law price will get bigger tommorow but I can't be bothered to agonise over this one as I feel it's an acceptable opportunity. Obviously there are internationals this week and the window is still open so a lot can happen between now and the weekend but if it all turns sour I'll lay this off before the game and post the update. I'm pretty sure you can get Middlesbrough -0.25 @ 17/20 with some books at the time of writing this so peeps should have a look round. Let's see how things go over the next few days. Some interesting prices in the championship this week so we'll see if anything else viable emerges roundabout Friday when team news is available.

100% agree with this. 1.85 is available and im pretty sure this line won't last. Think you will be looking at a straight -0.5 line by Saturday. That said I've opposed Blackpool in their last two matches and obviously lost both times.:lol

I hope so wisey but sometimes the market is mad and does some strange things. On occasion I put money down early to prevent the opportunity from dissolving rather than trying to pull the trigger at peak price. I'm glad you are thinking along the same lines here, helps put my mind at rest.

Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August

Agree with the Boro post' date=' mainly because of the absence of Tom Ince but worth baring in mind Pool are probably going to sign Ricardo Fuller and have had another bid rejected for Ross McCormack.[/quote'] There are also rumours that Blackpool will get RB Flanagan on-loan from Liverpool this week aswell, an area they need to strengthen. It is important to note that Blackpool could well bring in extra bodies this week before the Middlesbrough game. Wasn't it Middlesbrough that had the McCormack bid rejected? Either way the man is a nightmare to sign, Palace tried it last year and it nearly caused the complete mental breakdown of several hundred fans.

Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August If Fuller does sign he won't be match fit anyway but with Davies and Chopra I don't know if strikers are their biggest concern. I will do full write ups later in the week when I get chance but these are the ones in my mind: Leeds -0.25 @ 1.825 Lay Forest Reading +0 @ 1.825 QPR I think the prices on all of these will only get worse. Just my guess of course. Watford getting priced up as favourites for the league now. But we are only two games in and despite their great performances, there's a long way to go. Reading will be there or thereabouts and with the home advantage the value has to be on them IMHO. Ipswich's win on Saturday flattered them a bit and I think QPR are going to pick up 3 points at home in more than 50% of their matches. I make them 4/5 tops on Saturday. Maybe even 8/11.

Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August 3pts Wigan to beat Bournemouth 2.00 Bet365 Fancy Wigan to continue good start to the Championship. They created a few chances against Manchester United and were unlucky with the 2nd goal. Wigan have some premiership quality in their ranks and I think that will make the difference both in this game and the run back to the Premiership. They have McLean now, to add to Grant Holt, MacArthur & McManaman & have a good solid defense with Carson in goal and the likes of Boyce at the back. They look good away from home and won 4-0 against Barnsley compared to Bournemouth's thrashing at the hands of Watford. Bournemouth will want to show a good performance to their home fans after such a humiliation, but Wigan will also want to start strong in this years Championship and keep their 100% record going for as long as possible. Wigan's top players were taken off against Man United so they will be just as fresh and ready to go. These two also played in the FA Cup in January and Wigan won that 0-1. Most would agree Wigan are a stronger side now then when they were in the Premiership. Wigan for me 0-2.

I'd say after two games, Watford and Q.P.R. look the best placed sides to win automatic promotion. All the others don't look like there's too much between them so will be scrapping for the remaining four playoff spaces. Agree about Forest and Q.P.R. There could something in Yeovil away at Burnley (who were unlucky to lose on Saturday in calamitous circumstances). The unders there looks like the bet of the card as Burnley have lost a lot of ability up top while Yeovil have demonstrated great resolve and defensive stability - They've had three unders in a row and you'd expect another one here against a mediocre Burnley side. Still can't work out why Yeovil are priced so highly.

I am looking at the Yeovil price with interest this week, I think the market is saying this is a great chance for Burnley to get their first home win of the season. I think the previous weekends results have probably compounded the matter with Burnley winning at Wednesday while Yeovil lost at home to Brum. Yeovil have lost GK Marek Stech through injury and he is very important for them. Apparently Wayne Hennesey is comming in on-loan from Wolves but he has hardly seen any first team action for over a year I believe. Reserve keepers give me the heebeegeebees at the best of times as I have seen several strange occurences in the top tiers of English football in recent times relating to substitute keeper 'mistakes' during games. Burnley on the other hand are playing some slick football right now (particularly at home) and the fact that Ings and Vokes are getting on the scoresheet bodes very well for a side that has lost their key goal scorer in the summer. Question is whether Vokes and Ings can continue their goalscoring antics into this game as I don't think it's a world beating strike partnership just yet. Completely agree that Yeovil are a very organised outfit and the maths says that neither side are likely to rack up a cricket score here. I don't play unders/overs so I'll leave the final judgement to you, do you ever remember that guy who came on here and mentioned something called the two team repel syndrome? :lol Better hope that doesn't happen here and it ends up 4-3. Anyway Yeovil +0.75 is an interesting one, I'm not going to get involved yet, prefer to wait for team news on this one and see what the price is doing Friday afternoonish. You've definately highlighted something which needs further investigation here Jase.

I have been to both brum games in the league and wouldn't want to be backing them with my money tbh,yes we are looking organised, tough to beat and plenty of endeavour but there is a distinct lack of quality up front with only lee novak and matt green fit up front at the moment. lee clark for some reason has gone 3-5-2 so far this season which has meant the omission of our two most creative players chris burke and scott allan.,we might win but i can see it being a very tight game with possibly one goal in it

Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August Doncaster v Blackburn Bet 1: Over 2.5 goals (stake 1/10) at 2.17 (pinnaclesports) Even in winning L1 last season Donny werent a side big on goals, showing a strong under 2.5 goal bias throughout the year. Paul Dickov appears to have struggled to add firepower to the ranks. Recent signing Theo Robinson looking the man whom Dickov is pinning his hopes on addressing this issue. Blackburn also showed a strong unders bias last season despite the owners requirement for a flamboyant side. All of this means that under 2.5 goals is the warm favourite in the total goals market, however my view is this is an overreaction. Odds of nearly 2.2 for over 2.5 goals looks the value in this encounter. Bet 2: Blackburn (stake 1/10) at 2.63 (general) As above I dont think Doncaster have the firepower for Championship football and doubts certainly surround the appointment of Dickov. It will be interesting how Robinson fits in to the side but as things stand the home side look very opposable in the market at the prices, even though Ive missed the early value as the Blackburn price has come in. Blackburn themselves have an ordinary side generally, but it is punctuated by star quality in key positions, and I expect them to have just too much for Donny. Blackburn draw no bet is the safe play but I'm a gambler, so l'll take the away side at anything over 2.6 for friday entertainment.

Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August Doncaster v Blackburn These teams have 18 previous league encounters, but Doncaster Rovers have only managed to win one of them (D6 L11). Blackburn Rovers have only failed to score once in 18 attempts against Doncaster in league competition. Blackburn have conceded 32 fouls in their two league games so far this season; more than any other Championship team. Doncaster have lost seven successive home matches at Championship level - a run that began on 17th March 2012. Blackburn are yet to win a game in 2013-14; having drawn their opening league game against Derby, lost their League Cup tie versus Carlisle on penalties and lost their second league game 0-1 at home to Nottingham Forest. Leeds v Sheffield Wednesday Leeds United have scored at least two goals in each of their last five league home games versus Sheffield Wednesday. Sheffield Wednesday have won only two of the last 10 league games against Leeds United (D1 L7). Leeds have made a solid start to the season, having won two and drawn one of their three competitive matches, conceding just two goals in total. Sheffield Wednesday have lost all three of their competitive matches in 2013-14 so far; their worst start since 1989/90. All three of the Owls' games so far this season have ended in 1-2 defeats, with the six goals that they have conceded all arriving in the first half. Barnsley v Charlton Barnsley have lost, and failed to score in, both of their Championship fixtures so far this season. Charlton have lost their first two league games of the season for the first time since 2006-07. The Addicks haven't lost their first three league matches of a season since 1990-91. Barnsley have scored just one goal in total in the last three meetings with Charlton in the league. There were two red cards shown to the Yorkshire side in this very fixture last season; they went on to lose 6-0. Including last season, Barnsley have won just one of their last nine Championship matches (W1 D5 L3). Birmingham v Brighton Birmingham City have beaten Brighton just once in their last seven home league clashes with the Seagulls (D5 L1). Brighton have lost their opening three competitive games of the season, with both league defeats ending 1-2. Four of the last five league meetings between these teams have ended in a draw. Birmingham have been given eight yellow cards in their two Championship games so far this season; more than any other side. The Blues have won just one of their last five Championship home matches (W1 D2 L2). They lost their opening home game of the season, 0-1 to Watford. Bournemouth v Wigan Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last seven home league games against Wigan (W4 D3). Wigan won their opening game of the league season 4-0 at Barnsley - their biggest league away win since August 2008. Four of the last five league meetings have ended in a draw when these sides have been pitted against one another. The Latics have not won back to back away games in league competition since August 2012. Bournemouth have won six successive games at home in all competitions. Lewis Grabban has scored three goals in his two Championship appearances for Bournemouth so far this season. Burnley v Yeovil Burnley are now unbeaten at Turf Moor in five consecutive matches (W2 D3). All three of Yeovil's competitive matches so far in 2013-14 have ended 1-0 (W2 L1). This will be the first time these sides have faced each other in a competitive match. Danny Ings has scored in all three of his competitive appearances for Burnley so far in 2013-14. The top scorer in League One last season; Yeovil's Paddy Madden (24 goals), is yet to score in his three appearances for the club in 2013-14. Derby v Leicester Derby County have lost five of the last six league games against Leicester City. Leicester City have kept four clean sheets in the last six league fixtures against Derby County. Derby are unbeaten in their three competitive matches so far in 2013-14 (W2 D1) - the first time that they have managed to do this since 2005-06. Chris Martin scored twice in Derby's last match (v Brighton); equalling the tally that he'd netted in his previous 15 games for the club. Leicester City are unbeaten in their first three competitive games of the season (W2 D1); their best start since 2009-10. Middlesbrough v Blackpool Middlesbrough have won just once in the last six games against Blackpool in league competition (D1 L4). Blackpool have scored 10 goals in total in their last four league visits to the Riverside Stadium. There were 11 goals scored over the course of the two league fixtures involving these teams last season. Middlesbrough have lost eight of their last 14 home matches in all competitions (W4 D2 L8). Blackpool have won both of their last games this season - the last time that they won three league games in a row was back in August 2012. Blackpool's Tom Ince is suspended for this match. Ince has scored or assisted 29 of their 66 league goals since the start of 2012-13. Millwall v Huddersfield The Lions have failed to score in five successive games in the Championship. James Vaughan has scored eight goals in his last six appearances for Huddersfield in all competitions. Millwall have beaten Huddersfield in their last three home league meetings. Huddersfield have scored just four goals in their last six visits to the Den in league competition. Millwall have won just one point in their seven Championship games since April 20th 2013 (L6 D1). Nottingham Forest v Bolton Nottingham Forest have not beaten Bolton in their last seven meetings in league competition (D5 L2). Bolton have scored at least once in their last 12 visits to Nottingham Forest in league competition. Four of the last five league matches between these teams have ended in a draw. Forest have won all three of their competitive games so far in 2012-13 - the first time they have managed this since 2006-07. Bolton have drawn four successive league games since April 27th 2013, with three of these matches ending 1-1. Bolton's Darren Pratley has scored in successive league appearances for the first time since May 2011 (including play-offs). QPR v Ipswich QPR have the opportunity to win back to back home matches for the first time since May 2012. Ipswich Town have lost three and drawn one of their last four away games in all competitions. QPR have beaten Ipswich Town just twice in their last 11 league meetings (D3 L6), however, those wins both came in the two most recent clashes between the sides. The Tractor Boys have lost only once in their last five visits to Loftus Road against QPR (W3 D1). Should QPR win this match, they'll have equalled the number of home wins which they secured last season in the Premier League (2). Reading v Watford The Royals have come out on top against Watford only once in their last six league meetings (D3 L2). Watford have netted at least one goal in each of their last six league matches against Reading. Since Gianfranco Zola took charge of Watford on the eve of the 2012-13 season, the Hornets have scored 20 more goals than any other current side in the Championship (95 - inc. playoff matches). Troy Deeney has scored four goals from four shots in the Championship this season and became the first Watford player to score a competitive hat-trick in over 10 years last weekend. Reading have conceded the first goal in both of their league games this season, but have come back to secure four points in these matches.

Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August 16.08/13 21:45 ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIP DONCASTER vs BLACKBURN Tip: Blackburn (0) at 1.85 Bet365 Tonight a match of the Championship, where rookie league Doncaster Rovers will take Blackburn Rovers. Doncaster after winning last season in the 1st League now make every effort to stay in the Championship. In the first round at the Keepmoat Stadium, they have not been able to oppose Blackpool, which was the best during the match and deservedly won 1-3. By the way, last season Doncaster played better, it is not strange, that in the away games. So, at home, they scored only 35 points (8 loss), and away 49 (only 4 losses). Doncaster likely will have a very difficult season and fight for survival. Suffering Blackburn, in other word, will try today to take the first full 3 points. Last season the club during the season changed managers like a glove and no one could stay at the helm. After a bad start to the championship (after 2 rounds, 1 point) and the departure of the Cup, the pressure on coach Gary Bowyer will increase with each round, becoming stronger. Guests have a serious missing, since, out of the game: forwards Ruben Rochina (1 match) and Campbell (did not play), midfielder Lee Williamson (did not play) and defender Matt Kilgallon (did not play). The same club terminated the contract with the Australian goalkeeper Sebastian Usai, but this position rented from Hull, Tom Cairney. For Doncaster need more time to get used to the Championship, where the teams are much stronger than in the first league. Blackburn with all the problems it's still a very strong club by the standards of the second championship of England. Gary Boyer has a quite long bench of players and there are some great playmaker, such as Jordan Rhodes, who in the first season for Blackburn scored 26 goals and was the second scorer from Championship. Teams have not played each other since 1970, but prior to this period a huge advantage in Blackburn, of 19 personal meetings Doncaster won only once back in 1951. Of course, since then a lot has happened. In general, the guests today are required to open an account today its victories in a season, or at least not lose!

Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August 4pts Leeds to beat Sheffield Wednesday 23/20 William Hill Leeds have begun the season much better than their Yorkshire counterparts and I would expect that to continue here. Home advantage is often a big thing for Bryan McDermott sides and Elland Road isn’t the easiest place to go at the best of times. Unlike Wednesday, Leeds have goals in them from a number of sources but they remain solid enough at the back at the same time. Wednesday are lacking a spark at the minute so I’ll take Leeds in this one. Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August Reading +0 (AH) v Watford @ 1.825 Bet365 (3 Points) Two teams here who are serious contendenders for promotion. Yes Watford are a good side but I think people are getting a little carried away with their great start and thumping 6-1 win last week. It doesn't mean they are going to be steam rolling every one each week and away at Reading is one of the toughest matches they will have all season. The Hornets are looking very good attacking wise but I'm never quite convinced by Zolas defences. The Royals are pretty strong at the back and they have enough attacking quality to cause the Watford defence some real problems. Ultimately this will be a tightish game but with the home advantage I think there is some value on Reading. Watford look a top side but this is the championship and they are going to lose games along the way. This Reading side look more than capable of taking 3 points here and with the draw cover they are worth a punt.

Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August Birmingham v Brighton DNB @ 1.95 Coral (5 Points) I really don't like betting on Brighton too much. I really rate them as a side but their price is usually far too short. They have a habit of dominating games and possession but not taking their chances and leaking soft goals. There is a great side in there somewhere but they really need to start making their possession play count more. They finished last season (2013) as the best side in the championship points wise but a new manager has come in and they have started this one badly. As such Coral are pricing this one up nicely for me! First and foremost, I really don't rate Birmingham. I've tipped them for relegation this year and despite a decent enough start, I think they will struggle this season. I can see Brighton having plenty of possession in this match and I think they will create enough chances to win the game. Whether they will be clinical enough remains to be seen but with the draw cover, I think the Seagulls are well worth a bet here at a stand out price.

Leicester City are unbeaten in their first three competitive games of the season (W2 D1); their best start since 2009-10. Middlesbrough v Blackpool Middlesbrough have won just once in the last six games against Blackpool in league competition (D1 L4). Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August Not much further to add from me today, sticking with Boro, -0.25 line is generally at the bassline now (3/4) and has been for a couple of days so I'm glad I got on it early. Fuller and Delfouneso have signed for Blackpool, Delfouneso gives them a bit more mobility upfront but as earlier stated their problems are likely to stem from being outmatched in the midfield today. Hopefully Boro can capitalise and take all 3pts. With regards to Yeovil, there will be no Wayne Hennessey loan as he has been injured on international duty. Yeovil price is even bigger now, anyone have any ideas why?

I put it down to the absence of a regular keeper. I expect Garreth Stewart will start in goal?? Burnley have surprised with their forwards looking like they're full of confidence. Sam Vokes and Danny Ings look like forming a very nice partnership this season. EDIT: Gareth Stewart's hardly inexperienced though is he??

Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August I have played 3 stake on 1 for Leeds, it is hard for me to pick, until i will watch some games, i am in a site where i cannot access internet with ease and have a large band to watch streaming. However for what i have read in around, the Owls has a quite slow defense, also hit by some minor injuries, but they will be for sure determined to try to turn their fortunes up, moreover also for the fierce derby that it is. However i have faith more in the momentum of the whites, and Elland road is not an easy place to go and make the match...

Re: Championship > 16th - 17th August

Middlesbrough -0.25 @ 4/5 (Pinnacle) 2 Units
FT: Middlesbrough 1-1 Blackpool = HALF LOSS There was always the draw danger with this game, Middlesbrough having trouble converting as we've already established. Pretty pleased with my reading of the game though which is positive, the home side were the better team here and created some good opportunities but just couldn't get the goals required. Nearly received the nightmare suckerpunch with Blackpool's late goal but Emnes managed to prevent total disaster at the death, Blackpool claiming all 3pts here would have simply been a sick joke. Shame we couldn't capitalise here but feel fine about the bet, it was the correct play in my view. Good work from Wisey with the Brighton win today.
