BBOTD > Monday 17th June

Recommended Posts

*Sound Hearts > Warwick 7:50 > WIN @ 17/2 VC BOG* Shirocco Star is a classy horse but is far too dodgy at that price. Value lies with my selection of Gallipot.. Sound Hearts looks a cracking price for the Varian yard who are in cracking form. She was third in a Listed race two runs back, and had previously bolted up in a Class 4 handicap at Brighton, by 6 lengths, and followed up at Folkestone. Trip last time out too short possibly, and should be able to put in a bold bid.

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June 19.35 - Windsor - O'Gorman @ 8/1 Coral - 1pt win Improving with each run this gelding finished strongly to take 4th place last time out at this course when good to firm. The good ground should suit more as he has the required pace and with champion jockey Richard Hughes taking the ride for the first time this could be where the value lies. Should certainly at least gate crash the places.

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June 750 Warwick - La Arenosa - 9/1 - SJ, £3.65 If we knew that Shirocco Star was going to give her best running, then on all known form she should be around 4/6 but given her last run, (and like Mince a couple of weeks back in a similar standard race) I'd say 5/2 was nearer the mark. Given that I can't have her on my mind at a shade of odds against. Maybe connections are sick of finishing second and she's cherry ripe today. Fallon is booked and he has a 30 odd % strike rate for the stable but that wouldn't pay the bills on 11/10 shots either. There's not alot for her at Royal Ascot to be fair but if she was as good as she was, wouldn't she be tilting at windmills in the Hardwicke? Don't really know what to oppose her with mind you! Gallipot needs to improve for her reappearence and probably will but I'll chance that SDS has got it wrong and Harry Bentley can continue his good record for the stable on a formally consistent animal who's trainer has been listed as 'unknown' fairly recently. Hopefully she's been hanging out away from the pie shop. Complete guess and could easily finish last. Really is more based on wanting to be away from the top 2 but lays aren't gonna pay enough considering my hapless and hopeless record in BBOTD this year!

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June 7.50 Warwick Gallipot 7/2 BetVictor Runner up in the Irish and English Oaks last year in addition to Royal Ascot in the Ribbelsdale, Shirocco Star now has her chance dropped to listed company. Should come on for her debut run over an unsuitable trip at Newmarket but was very disappointing that day in any event. But Gallipot who started life in handicaps last year never stopped improving. She was runner up in the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster before winning in this grade at Newmarket. Should come on for her slightly disappointing run at Newbury last month where she clearly wasn't fit but it did take her a few runs last year to hit top form. In a 50/50 race I feel that Gallipot has more scope than Shirocco Star and hope that she can continue to progress this year. 1 point win for nap purposes Gallipot 7/2 BetVictor.

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June 2.45 Carlisle # Chant ~ 11/2(PP) Ann Duffields gelding had shown enough in last four starts to suggest his time is near. The step up in trip to 12f at Beverley brought a bit more improvement where he ran into a well backed winner. There doesn't seem a lot of opposition in the race and is probably a e/w bet to nothing in truth. 1pt win

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June 7.35 Windsor WE HAVE A DREAM @ 28/1 Betvictor BOG Won this race in 2011 off 81 and third last year off 83, running off 72 today. Has been poor last twice but missed the break at Goodwood. Drawn well to make all in 2 box and Dwyer who was not riding last twice but has ridden on 6 of his wins is back aboard.

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June A leap of faith...4.45 carlisle...Mark J and Joe F....Will it be trying? Tuzzie Muzzie 5/1 Ladbrokes Without doubt, he will appreciate the step down in trip and the stiff track. They will also surely go off at a rate of knots, with the fav and 3rd in being make all merchants, this should enable Joe to settle the selection. Acouple of placed efforts to start the season he should be cherry ripe, I do 100% think the horse is good enough....However. GL

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June Warwick 7.50 - Gallipot (1pts win, 3/1 BetVictor) Showed a useful level of form last season picking up three wins in her last four outings. Returned with a below par 4th of seven at Newbury but may just have needed that run and hopefully should come on for that. Im confident she will be sharper for that return effort today and looks a good chance.

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June 2.30 Kempton This isn’t a particularly strong race and several of these look out of form at present and it may be worth sticking with a course specialist. Buateior has plummeted in the weights but has been disappointing in sellers and claimers recently and has a lot to prove on the back of that. Tyrur Ted got back to winning ways last time out and receives only a 1lb rise back on the AW but he can be very all or nothing and also worth noting his form has come round Wolverhampton and looks plenty short enough for me. Time Square is running to a similar level on recent starts but handicapper is looking in charge at present now 8lb above last winning mark. Having A Ball is not easy to win with but he is more than capable of winning a race like this around here, he will need a decent pace to chase and the gaps to appear but he has held his form well this year on the AW and backed it up with a good effort on turf last time out, he has dropped to 1lb above his last winning mark and should continue to run well. 0.5pt e/w Having A Ball 8/1 pp

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June C2.45 Ferdy 1pt Win 18/1 William Hill I think the trainers recent upturn in form combined with excellent 5lb claimer Jason Hart on board for the first time point to a good run here today. The trainer has 2 wins from the last 10 runners (and that includes some long shots), and was only 3 from 31 prior to that. The trainer also has a great strike rate at the track and the jockey has won on 2 of only 4 rides at the track. In fact the jockeys claim means that the horse is racing today off a lower mark than its last winning one.

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June 3.15 Carlisle - 1pt win Who's Shirl @ 9/2 (Sportingbet) Although Chris Fairhurst's charge charge has gone up 5lbs since winning at Pontefract, she still now only runs off 70 and that allows her to still compete in a 0-70 affair so although she has to saddle top-weight of 10st this afternoon, this race looks no better (actually worse) than the race she won in Yorkshire 10 days ago and her chance is increased by the fact she's a past winner off a mark of 78 as well as a 3l victor off the same mark as this afternoon. She goes best on a sound surface and her run style is one that means a stiff finish sees her at her best. This track should suit in that regard and she's run well here before (3rd and 5th with the latter holding obvious excuses). Paul Mulrennan keeps the ride and has ridden her three times all in all. He's got a 1st, a neck 2nd and a half-decent 7th on a seasonal reappearance as a record on the mare so that's a plus and she carried 9-10 to victory last time. She's well-drawn and I really think she will take a bit of beating this afternoon.

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June La Arenosa 7.50pm Warwick La Arenosa is ridden by Harry Bentley and looks to be the better of the pair to me. She showed a turn of foot last May when winning a 3 runner race, was 2nd next time out and then won her listed race well going away. She was only beaten a head at the end of last season in a group 3 race but she usually races on ground with more cut. She looks a classy type that has acceleration and if she is fit after a 241 day break she could give Shirocco Star a race. I’ll take that chance at 14-1 and also hope she will handle the ground. 0.5pt EW La Arenosa 14-1 Stan James (BOG)

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June 750 Warwick: Shirocco Star (evens PP/SJ) Not much time to devote to todays racing with Ascot on the horizon so Shirocco Star will do for me. The class horse having been placed in two Oaks last season plus on Champions Day at Ascot. Ran below her bets on seasonal reappearance but that was over 9f and this will suit much better. She ha snever won outside of Maiden company but this looks a perfect opportunity found by connections.

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June 18.50 Warwick Fanrouge - 1PT Win 8/1 William Hill Fanrouge is having her first race today for her new trainer, Rod Millman. She was involved in 20 races for the Malcom Saunders stable prior to her move, which included four wins and three places. Her four wins came over 5F, however her 2nd last time out at Brighton over 6F indicated that she will be winning over this trip soon. The eventual winner was Alice's Dancer by 1 3/4 lengths but Fanrouge stayed on strongly in the final furlong. She has won and placed on ground varying from Good to Soft to Firm ground so today's conditions of Good, Good to Firm in places should suit also. If you go back through her form to October 2011, she finished 11th in the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes at Ascot, however wasn't beaten too far by the winner Ponty Acclaim, based on that form she has every chance of winning a race of this caliber at Warwick.

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June 1950 warwick 1pt win shirroco star evs bet365 only one win from 10 doesnt look the best reading, but she was runner up in the oaks, irish oaks and the ribbesdale, and drops to listed company tonight might bring the best out of her,and if she can win tonight against some up and coming horses, she may be able turn her career around and start tackling the best fillies.

Re: BBOTD > Monday 17th June 8:50 Windsor SILVERHEELS 9/2 most BOG firms. Good race this. I've missed the value already but still think this horse has the best chance of winning at the weights and 9/2 is fair. Runs off 85 tonight with a decent claimer taking off 5 so effectively 80. Beaten 3 lengths off 88 last time in a class 2 at Goodwood this horse takes a massive step down and is 8lbs lighter tonight. The ground won't be an issue, one win on gd-firm (at Windsor) and two places on gd-firm in class 1 races as a 2year old. Boots and Spurs will more than likely want it softer, Postsrcipt was beaten 2 lengths off 86 -3lbs and is therefore two pounds heavier tonight. Lightburst is still 3lbs heavier than his most recent win and Accession is only 1lb better off for being beaten 6 lengths last time out.
