Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february 16.20 Navan - Tofino Bay - Win @ 4\6 Bet365 BOG Has run in 5 chases to date with 3 wins, a 2nd and a 4th in grade 1. Has won the Troytown Handicap Grade B handicap at this course over a distance of 3m the same as this race which was also on heavy. Good form at this level and distance and is the clear top rated by the handicapper. Good price for the class horse in the race with proven form in this 4 runner race.

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february 3.25 Southwell - piceno 11/2 boylesports win Back in off the same mark it ran off last time. Dropping down to 7f which will be ideal after fading over 1m last time. Luke Morris back on board (ran its best race for a while with Morris on a few runs back) Good to see there is already cash for this one coming from the Dixon stable and I think it's ready to strike.

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february 13.40 Wetherby - Transact Reverts to hurdles for the first time in almost two years after a while chasing (won a couple of handicaps at Newcastle during that time) and the smaller obstacles should see a marked improvement, given the problems he's had in the jumping department recently. Has some decent previous form over hurdles - won over 2 miles at Newcastle in testing ground back in January 2011 and has been placed on a few other occasions in the past. The in-form Coverholderis obviously a danger, but he may find it difficult under quite a stiff penalty. By contrast, Transact runs off a basement mark (his last win came off a considerably higher one) and with an in-form 5lb claimer on board (has won his last two races), this horse appears to be way overpriced. 1pt win @ 16/1 Bet365

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february 14.50 Southwell: Corn Maiden @ 9/2 Paddy Power I'm happily ignoring all the runs of this maiden filly until her latest performance which came here at Southwell. It was her first start on fibresand and she really looked to be home on this surface. She travelled nicely in a prominent position, and while she didn't have an answer to the eventual winner she finished a fine 2nd, galloping all the way to the line and coming a long way clear of the rest of the field. That was her first serious performance in her 14 races long career so it is fair to assume that the change of surface might bring more improvement out of her. She should be capable of winning this race tomorrow at least as the bottom weight.

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february 3:25 Southwell PICENO 6-1 Paddy Power BOG* I think this one is the most solid of the field as there are negatives over most of these, here are my notes... sound amigo, highest winning mark 74, still too high, woeful last run abi scarlet, doubts over the trip and fitness light burst, good mark, doubts over jockey, fitness and course decent fella, good mark, good price but no course form piceno, mark about right, course ok, trip ok, jockey a plus pickets, up in class AND a penalty key ambition, surely a 6f horse? mazovian, doubts about jockey and well beaten in this grade imprimis, decent mark but age and class hellbender, up 3lbs and up 2 grades With Luke Morris back onboard dropping back in trip to 7f and from a decent enough draw in (4) I think Piceno could go close tomorrow.

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february 4.35 Southwell (A.W.) NAUGHTYBYCHOICE Last time out ran very well in a similar contest over same C&D and now, down by 1lb, deserves consideration especially after early money on him. Graham Lee (23% at the track) is booked for a couple of rides on Pears' horses but it's his first time aboard of Naughtybychoice. If he'll confirm premises 9/4 is a huge gift. Back at 9/4 1pt Win (Bet365/#BOG)

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february *Prickles > Wetherby 1:40 > WIN @ 5/1 VC BOG* Won back in December, and although the favourite is deserved favourite, not sure this horse should be as big as 5/1. Has headgear on today which could be a sign they are trying hard, it goes on soft ground, trip is fine. Woolacott is a fairly new trainer in the scheme of things, and has had 14 winners from his 95 runners so far, a nice return.

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february A few of these could be anything but i like the Tizzard & Powell combo in the last race on the card at Taunton. Sole runner for Mr C.Tizzard and sole ride for jockey Mr B.Powell. Course ? - trip ? - going ? - fitness ? Time will give us the answer. 4:45 Taunton - Dark Desire. 1pt Win Bet @ 11/4 Skybet ''BOG''

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february 240 Wetherby: Agglestone Rock (5/2 BetVic/Coral) This one went into my notebook after his comeback run over hurdles at Musselburgh last month, he was a staying on 4th behind Salubrious and looked the type to go on and find an opportunity soon, this race today looks perfect and the yard had a winner yesterday so all looks set for a big run. He had looked a useful type when winning a Class 3 race by 12 lengths back in 2011 but injury forced him off for 18 months, he has had 3 runs on the AW to get him right and then his effort at Musselburgh showed he retained his ability over hurdles and is a confident choice in this weak contest.

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february 2:50 Southwell - Kingaroo - 1pt Win 8/1 Bet365 This horse seems to have better form over 1 mile 3 lately at this track but wasn't disgraced in what looked a better race on handicap marks last time out over this C+D and hopefully this potentially weaker race can see this horse return to winning form. He came out of the stalls a bit tardily, had to be driven to the front by Luke Morris and then tried to set a very strong pace from the front to tire out his opponent's which basically backfired with Kingaroo off the bridle first. Considering this though, he stayed on impressively enough behind two horses who look to have a decent future on this fibresand surface. Hopefully the same sort of tactics today (from the front although not so forceful) may be enough to get Kingaroo back in the winner's enclosure.

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february 15:45 Navan - Twinlight - 6/4 @ PP Strong runner with some great recent form after just completing his hat trick. Faces some stiff competition from Dedigout and Buckers Bridge but I think he's got enough to see it through. Won LTO on heavy and its the same again today so I'm hoping for the same stuff from a more than competent horse.

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february 1.40 Wetherby Prize Fighter 28-1 WillHill BOG 0.5pts ew 100-1 winner here over this distance and 2nd here also in the past. Interesting back at Wetherby which it seems to love. Poor run at Newcastle lto over a stiff track. This horse is very unpredictable but on a going day on his favourite track is very likley place prospect.

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february 3.25 Southwell Abi Scarlet won some uncompetitive 6f 6 runner handicaps last spring last came off a 2lb lower mark, but failed to beat a rival on next 4 starts on turf and polytrack (had previously ran well on polytrack aswell) Hopes rely on return to this surface but also been off the track for over 150 days a lot to prove. Light Burst won impressively twice in summer on turf and polytrack in class 6 handicaps failed to quite live upto that on next 2 starts off todays mark and in class 4 races, record fresh not great and debut on this surface but certainly one to watch for future. Decent Fella has the death box in stall 1, never raced here but RP report sire does have good stats here but he has looked very disinterested in the game on recent starts and despite plummeting in the weights only if money was to come would he be interesting at present. Scott Dixons yard came back with a bang recently but they have gone a tad quiet recently and that is the concern on Piceno given he disappointed last time out having ran well time before that. The handicapper may also need to give him some respite this mark requires a career best by some 3lb. Flying Pickets won a 3 runner seller over CD last week but needs to step up significantly under a 6lb penalty to be involved here despite brilliant course record (mainly in sellers and claimers) Key Ambition hasn’t been disgraced recently and has ran well here before although not convinced 7f around here is ideal looked as if stamina stretched on only try of 7f around here. Mazovian isn’t an easy one to predict but he is below his last winning mark and ran respectfully last time out will need them to go hard not sure that’s guaranteed in this race. Hellbender won last time out on first start for this yard, up 3lb for that effort but is also 3lb out of the handicap so effectively 6lb higher in a much stronger race, he is still on a good mark if yard really have got him back to his very best from several years ago. Imprimus Tagula does go well here but not as good recently and looks in decline again at present. Been well held in sellers and claimers recently and needs to step up back in handicaps. In a race full of question marks it might be worth taking a chance on Sound Amigo who was very disappointing last time out given he has gone well fresh in the past, but maybe he needed that run this year and he can come on for the run. Handicapper also generously dropped him 5lb since that run and now on a mark he was 2nd in big field contests at Redcar and Thirsk in the summer. Better drawn this time around too and has gone well here in the past without winning. 0.5pt e/w Sound Amigo 10/1 >PP

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february Not sure which one to put up today, backed a few last night expecting a couple of them to not be very strong in the market given their profile, but they've all been nibbled at. 5.10 Southwell - Follow The Flag - 10/1 VC Not sure there's too much value in this one now, think i found a good bet backing him last night at 22s e.w in the 10 runner field. Has been supported with the help of a couple of non runners. Looks enough pace on here to set the race up for him, hopefully On The Cusp gets on with it as well as the front 2 in the market. Far from predictable but likes it here and is capable of winning over this trip. Down to a very low mark now and his recent efforts havent been too bad, beaten 6 lengths over 12f here at Southwell lto isnt that bad, travelled ok too. Needs very specific circumstances to win and as i said, not sure there's too much value in his price now. On St Ignatius as well in the same race, and Imprimis Tagula in the 3.25 at a big price.

Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february Taunton 3.40 - Oscar Nominee - win at 5/1 bog betvictor Quite a competitive handicap hurdle but Henderson's runner has some good form in the book He was beaten 2 necks in a handicap at the Festival last year. Before that he'd won a novice race beating a horse won his next 4. he was also narrowly beaten by Cinders and ashes the time before He hasn't run since the Festival last march but did win off an 8 month break last season. He probably wants further than todays trip but the heavy ground might compensate for the shorter trip.

Really fancied it myself could only get on at 3/1 - well done if you had cash down at 9/2
