Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30 Back Twente v Bursapor 1.57 William Hill Twente seem a value bet to me. Twente have had a good start to the season in the Dutch league 3 wins from 3 games and are very strong at home in Europe 18 wins 4 draws and 3 defeats in the europa league and many of those wins came against top sides. Bursapor are not likely to be good travellers either and are inexperienced in european competition. Bursapor lost away in the last round to KUPS in Finland who are a very weak side. Twente sold De Jong in the summer but have managed to keep most of their best players and probably looks like Douglas is going to stay unless there is a late bid for him. And if he does go then they have signed Boyata from man city who is a very good replacement. Not sure if he is eligable for this game or not though. They have also bought very well in the summer Castignos tadic and Bulykin are a long way above anything Bursapor have. Seems as if Twente are taking this competition seriousley and there is no reason they wont go full strength as they have in previous rounds. They have a reasonably straight forward home game against VVV Venlo on Sunday who are one of the weakest teams in the Dutch league so no need to rest anyone. I see a comfortable Twente win here and also think they can qualify. Best odds I can find for them to qualify is 2.65 Bwin which is not quite enough value for me considering they have a 2 goal defecit to make up.

Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30 APOEL v Neftchi Thursday 30th August 18.00 According to the stats, Netchi dominated the first leg in Baku. Their odds seem quite long here at 12.0. On the other hand, APOEL have an excellent home record in Europe, and Neftchi a very poor away record, so this backing Neftchi feels like a long-shot. How much weight should we give the first leg stats, and how much to their previous records? http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2013/matches/round=2000355/match=2009830/index.html http://uk.soccerway.com/matches/2012/08/30/europe/uefa-cup/apoel-nicosia/fk-neftchi/1370869/

Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30 Bordeaux v Crvena Zvezda Thursday 30th August 19.30 The stats suggest the first leg in Belgrade was fairly even. I think Crvena Zvezda might be a bit long here at 11.0. Their away record in Europe is not too bad, although Bordeaux's home record is stronger. It looks as though Bordeaux should be favourites here, but are they too short at 1.36? http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2013/matches/round=2000355/match=2009848/index.html http://uk.soccerway.com/matches/2012/08/30/europe/uefa-cup/fc-girondins-de-bordeaux/fk-crvena-zvezda-beograd/1370896/

One does not contradict the other. Neftchi could have been the better team in the first game, but still be worse than APOEL and terrible away from home. I don't think the price is incorrect. As regards Red Star, maybe they are a bit too long. They have good defense and 0:0 is a very tricky score.

I watched first game. Bursaspor outplayed Twente. They come back from 0-1 to 3-1. It could have been 5-1. Twente scored from a defender mistake, Bursaspor created all 3 goals. Yes Twente can win at home but if Bursa could play like last game it is very hard. I think Bursa will preveil to next round here.

Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30 Red Star +1.5(1.77) to beat Bordeaux Red Star failed to score in the first leg last Thursday, having struggled to create enough goal opportunities on the night, but it was (more or less) expected against this well-organized and a very physical Bordeaux side, though Red Star had the match completely under control over 90 minutes, enjoying more ball possession and giving Bordeaux plenty to think about ahead of this second leg.Bordeaux's top forward - Yoan Gouffran was nowhere to be seen all night long and based on last week's match Bordeaux could really find it hard to score here, especially with nearly all the pressure being on their back. Bordeaux's team is filled with experienced guys who're already in (or close to) their 30s, while Red star are relying on young guys and they're all the regulars and the key players: Maksimovic(20 years old), Mladenovic(21yo), Lazovic(21yo), Vesovic(20yo), Milunovic(19yo), Mijailovic(18yo),...Many of them have already made their debuts even in the Serbian National Team(Maksimovic, Lazovic, Mladenovic, Mijailovic,...).In other words, Bordeaux have got a clear edge when it comes to experience in this sort of matches, but Red Star seem to be more prepared on physical basis as Bordeaux have really struggled physically in the last 20-25 minutes of 1st leg. Also, Red Star have been underestimated way too much in the recent weeks, after some shocking defending against Naftan in the second qualifying round of Europa League(4:3 win in the first leg, after being 3:0 up at the half time AND the 3:3 draw in the second leg after being 2:0 up after 15mins).But, they haven't conceded a single goal in the last 3 Europa League matches(vs. Bordeaux and 2x vs.Omonia), so the improvements are more than obvious since they signed new defender Jovanovic(Montenegrian national team player). Red Star go into the match without the services of Milivojevic(suspension), while Jovanovic is doubtful, but according to latest news his injury's not so serious, so he should be able to take the part in this match. As for Bordeaux, they're troubled by huge squad problems ahead of this match. Top defender Michael Ciani has just left the club, having joined the Serie A outfit Lazio. The likes of David Bellion, Traore and Matthieu Chalme are ruled out through injuries, while the latest injury victims are Fahid Ben Khalfallah and Benoit Tremoulinas. Skipper Jaroslav Plasil missed last week's match and he still seems to a major doubt, while new signing Obraniak(probably the best Bordeaux player last week, alongside gk Carasso) is also struggling with injury problems. Bordeaux have shown pretty much nothing last week, being clearly outplayed for large part of the match and with only one classy forward(Yoan Gouffran), they could really find it hard to break Red Star down, especially with all the squad problems they're facing ahead of this match. The Handicap is simply way too big IMO as even with all those players available, Boreadux haven't shown they're much superior to RS.

Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30

Which bookie is that with kojic?
Bet365 Of course, quite a risky bet... :) ...as it still remains to be seen how this young Red Star side will react in such a tough away match, against a very classy opponents. But, based on last week's meeting between the sides, they could give Bordeaux some fight.

If you are to put "some real cash", I don't recommend this match. CSKA is not so solid at home at the moment - you can check their performance in the Russian league since the start of the new season. Besides, they don't need to win in order to qualify. Imagine a very likely scenario - CSKA takes the lead and AIK equalizes in the second half. Do you think that CSKA will be pushing for a winner, or they will be more cautious not to lose the game and the whole tie altogether?! If you need a 1.3 coefficient, there are much better options for you. You might pick for instance a handicap for PSV against Zeta Golubovci - I definitely see easy home win with at least two goal margin.

Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30 5pts Liverpool (-2AH) to beat Hearts 1.93 BetVictor Liverpool will be widely expected to win this match but from punters and Liverpool fans alike. With the sort of side they are expected to put out I expect them to win and win well. While Hearts were competitive in the first leg that was very much a mix and match Liverpool side. With the heavy hitters back for Liverpool I expect them to have way too much for Hearts in this second leg. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/liverpool-vs-hearts-betting-liverpool-can-move-into-the-group-stages-with-a-big-second-leg-win 4pts Newcastle (-1) to beat Atromitos 10/11 Ladbrokes I expect Newcastle to see off the Greek outfit without too much fuss here. Although they don’t need to win well I expect them to try to win well to lay a little bit of a marker down and pick up some confidence for the Premier League matches to come after their defeat to Chelsea at the weekend. Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30 My bets for tomorrow: 1. Rosenborg - Legia Under 2.5 @ 1.80 Legia Warsaw is tight in defense and very prone to unders. Last year in EL, in their away games they had 5 unders out of 6 games, including 4 "1:0"s. Last year in Polish Ekstraklasa, Legia had average of 1.97 goals scored in their games, which put them in 13th place (out of 16th teams), meaning that they are the 4th most under-ish team in the league. Rosenborg does not score a lot either - 5 out of 8 games after the Euro 2012 pause finished with unders. At home in EL this summer they had 0:0 vs. Servette, a marginal 1:0 win against amateurs from Crusaders, and the only high scoring game was 2:2 with Ordabassy. 1:1 in the first leg means that both teams will be very cautious and I expect this to be like a game of chess. Despite being an away goal behind, Legia will not take huge risks. They will wait patiently for their chance and hope to score once, but a decisive goal. 2. HJK - Bilbao HJK or Draw @ 2.20 A must bet. The tie is decided, Atletik has nothing to play for and nothing to prove to Finnish team. In similar circumstances they lost to Slaven away. Bilbao had very bad start in the Primera, and I expect them to rest some players in preparation for the next round in the weekend. In Helsinki they are gonna struggle with much cooler weather than in Spain now and probably a worse pitch. Expect a low scoring game and a draw here. 3. Viktoria Pilsen - Lokeren Viktoria Asian Handicap -1 @ 1.875 I was surprised that Viktoria lost in Belgium last week, where they got defeated by a 94th minute goal. Viktoria is definitely the stronger team in my view here. They have CL experience from last year where they did reasonably well, followed by a really memorable performance against Schalke 04 in 1/16 round of EL, when in the away tie in Gelsenkirchen, Schalke managed to equalize and bring the game to extra time just two minutes before the end, and in extra time Viktoria lost after they were left with 9 men on the pitch (red card+injury). This year they have been very clinical in their European games, except for the Lokeren one - they got 4 wins out of 4. Lokeren are nothing special. It is their first time in Europe since 2003. They finished in the 8th place last year, and qualified by winning the national cup. I expect Viktoria to completely dominate the game and win by two or three goal margin. Yet, the price for AH-1 is good and it is a more protective bet. 4. Rapid - PAOK PAOK DNB @ 2.20 I barely managed to win my bet on PAOK last week after a late turn-around from the Greeks. Today I again choose them, this time with the precautionary DNB option. Maybe you will be surprised to hear it, but last year PAOK did not lose a single away game in Europe - they got 3 wins (among them 2:1 vs. Tottenham) and 3 draws (among them 0:0 in Udine and 2:2 vs. Rubin Kazan). The year before, PAOK lost only once away from home - 1:0 to Villareal, and achieved one victory (1:0 vs. Dinamo Zagreb) and a number of prestigious away draws (Ajax, Fenerbahce, Brugge, CSKA Moscow). I don't think that a team which lost only one away game in Europe for the last two years and did not lose at very inhospitable stadiums like those in Istanbul, Amsterdam, Moscow, Udine, Kazan and White Hart Lane, will lose against Rapid. Last participation of Rapid in group stages was in 2010 (Europa League), when they lost all their three home games in the group. 5. AZ - Anji Under 2.5 @ 1.85 Another classical under game. We have Anji which games very rarely feature many goals and which are very hard to break through. They are hosted by AZ Alkmaar, which have not been very prolific at least in the European tournaments. The first game finished with the tricky 1:0 home win, which makes it even more unlikely that we see many goals here. AZ will try patiently to explore Anji defense for possible weaknesses, while the Russian team will make sure they are closed well defensively and will wait for chances to counter-attack. I expect either a minimal 1:0 win for Anji or a 0:0 draw. 6. Sporting - Horsens Sporting Goals: Over 2.5 @ 2.00 I usually avoid this types of bets. But this time Sporting is under big pressure to start scoring goals after they did not manage to score a single goal in their first two games in Portugal, and they particularly disappointed on Monday where they lost at home to Rio Ave by 1:0. This makes me believe that Sporting will want to send a message and reinforce their self-confidence in a similar fashion like Atletik Bilbao did last week. Horsens just got a humiliating home defeat by 1:4 on Monday. Only two weeks ago they conceded another 4 goals at home. Their defense is definitely not their strongest part and they are no match for Sporting. I think that the Portugese will teach them a good lesson.

Be cautious with stake on this one. Last year Legia was playing with only one attacker and coach was setting team very defensively. Fortunately the coach was fired and a new one has a different approach. Legia had no problem with scoring goals in previous rounds of Euro cup, and they should won in first leg, having many dangerous situations. Also they easily won two matches in Polish league, scoring 4 and 2 goals. Obviously, yes, this could be like a game of chess, because Legia will be without creative midfielder Vrdoljak, so they could have problems with creating goal situations against solid Rosenborg defense.

Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30 Rapid need to get a win here and i belive they have good chance they got an all important away goal in tricky and also hostile game in greece. Paok are missing a couple of important players in Salpingidis who is injured and also Lazar who was sent off in the last game. Not saying this is going to be staright forward but it is a real oppurunity for the home side to progress Rapid Wein to win

Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30 Its always tricky to predict matches that are over two legs, however I'll give it a go! Liverpool v Hearts -- Liverpool -1 @ 1.6 If the pre-match rumours are to be believed then it seems that Brendan Rodgers will play a pretty decent side tonight, this coupled with the fact the game is at anfield, will surely mean that Liverpool will be on top in this game. They've just put in a pretty decent performance against Man City at the weekend, and most people seem to be tipping them to score a few against Hearts tonight, however, im not too convinced they'll score loads, even though they were unlucky not to beat Man City at the weekend, they didnt really test Joe Hart, infact all he had to do was pick the ball out of the back of his net twice. This fact combined with the fact that they are already through and therefore don't need to score tonight means i'm not confident enough for the -2 tonight. That being said, I do think they'll win, if i was pushed id say 2-0, hence why I've opted for Liverpool -1 tonight. Newcastle v Atromitos -- Newcastle Win to Nil @ 2.2 Not a lot to say about this one, the previous tie ended in a 1-1 draw, however Newcastle were forced to play a shadow squad in that game due to fixture congestion, meaning they played Chelsea 48 hours later. They have no such problems in this game, and i expect them to field a strong squad tonight. This fact combined with the home advantage points me towards a newcastle win, I can't see Atromitos causing too much of a problem for them tonight, hence the win to nil.

Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30 Indeed, I also forgot to add that Liverpool might be good value tonight! I know at first sight it does not seem very logical for them to push a lot against much weaker Hearts when they have important domestic games in hand, but the situation now at Anfield is very specific. The team still has no win in Premiership, but they had amazing performance against Man City. I think their self-confidence is good, but they are quite angry because of the bad luck they had so far. They need to win tonight and win with class to prove they are not in a crisis. Besides that, there are some players of high statute in Liverpool who are not part of Rodgers' vision about the team so far - Carrol, Downing, Henderson, Adams, Enrique, Spearing...I think that these guys will be really desperate to do their best if they play tonight and they won't take it as the usual boring decided Europa League game, but rather as a big chance to earn the trust of their manager and become part of his future plans. Hence, I see Liverpool winning heavily here. I am still not decided what bet exactly to take, but I see at least three home goals, and If they don't miss so many chances, it may even get ugly for Hearts.

Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30 Sparta Praha-Feyenoord Sparta has played three matches so far, scoring 2 on every occassion (Admira-Sparta 0-2, Sparta-Admira 2-2, Feyenoord-Sparta 2-2). They have two quality strikers, Léonard Kweuke (25 goals on 53 matches, scoring every second match in average), who scored three so far, which is the half of Sparta's EL goals. The second is Vaclav Kadlec, who is one of the most talented Czech youngsters (17 goals on 83 matches, scores every fifth match in average), he scored a double against Feyenoord. With these two, scoring is sure for the Czech side. Feyenoord's last away game in Europe was the lost 2-1 match is Kiev. The 2-2 in the first match is very bad for Feyenoord because of the 2 away goals for Sparta. They have to attack, to score at least once, but in my opinion twice, considering the above to qualify. Statistics about the first match (Feyenoord-Sparta): Attempts on target: 10-6 Attempts off target: 6-6, so I expect attacking football here. Two things concern me: if Sparta will play defensive football, but I cannot imagine that considering their matches so far, but also I do not know their game style. The second is, if one of the strikers, especially Kweuke will miss the match, but so far I couldn't find any news about injury. In the home league the Czechs played 5 match, won 4, draw 1, none lost. Scored 12, conceded 5. At Prague: 2 match, both won, 3-1, 2-1 were the results. In home the Dutch side played 3 match, 2-1-0. Scored 4, conceded 2. Away: 1-2, 0-1 (both won). Considering all this, I expect goals. Sparta scores Kweuke scores More than 2,5 goals on the match Both team scores Two more for the brave ones: More than 3,5 goals Kadlec scores As you can see, I did not write any betting sites and odds. That is because I am not familiar with them, I play only at the local Hungarian bookie, but there I could not bet for these outcomes. However, I still wrote them down, maybe it can be bet at some sites, and someone may profit from them. Or will curse my name for losing some money:p

I'm backing what I deem to be a nice treble tonight. Levante, Liverpool, and Newcastle all to win is just under evens with BET365. I can't see any of the away sides scoring a goal really. Motherwell were turned over 2-0 in their first leg against levante, and I am understanding that levante are slightly weaker this season. However, I personally never really thought Motherwell were up to European football, and were only in the champions league courtesy of rangers' elimination. Hearts were impressive against a changed Liverpool in the first leg, but ultimately weren't particularly sharp going forward, and Raheem sterling was allowed a lot of space to run into. Liverpool look set to play the first team against hearts, or at least, a stronger squad than the one that played the first leg. Both Scottish sides look out of their depth. Newcastle hold an away advantage, but I don't think they will take any chances against atromitos by playing the reserves again. Atromitos are a very tight unit, but I can't see them getting too much joy in the final third, as they need to score, and Newcastle should have too much firepower.

Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30 I am not happy with my recent picks - I keep on staying just a little above evens. I obviously have to shorten my picks, but don't according to which criteria: Rosenborg - Legia Under 2.5 @ 1.80 It was close and I was right that the game will be like a party of chess, but in the end it is zero money. These unders are always so risky. HJK - Bilbao HJK or Draw @ 2.20 Successful bet. Although I must admit, I did not expect such a high scoring game. Viktoria Pilsen - Lokeren Viktoria Asian Handicap -1 @ 1.875 VOID Viktoria won as expected but not enough to get the money from the bet. I seem to forget sometimes that it is a two-leg tie and if 1:0 suits Viktoria and there is not too much time left, they probably won't be going a lot forward. Rapid - PAOK PAOK DNB @ 2.20Reasoning and stats were pointing in PAOK's direction. The sore reality was pointing in different direction. Probably should have made more research into PAOK's current transfer policy (are they really the same team as in the last two years?!). AZ - Anji Under 2.5 @ 1.85I admit I could not have guessed this outcome. Anji are better I wrote it in my review. By 5:0 away in Alkmaar - this is way too much. I expected that AZ will hardly find the way to Anji's net. But never imagined Anji could score 5 - they rarely do it even against underdogs in the Russian league. Sporting - Horsens Sporting Goals: Over 2.5 @ 2.00 If Rapid-PAOK was my humiliation, then this was my great bet for tonight. Totally and entirely owned. Should have been braver and put more cash into this - it was so obvious.

That's harsh.... Liverpool batter hearts, and another late goal kills me!

Re: Europa League Qualifying > August 28-30

APOEL v Neftchi Thursday 30th August 18.00 According to the stats, Netchi dominated the first leg in Baku. Their odds seem quite long here at 12.0. On the other hand, APOEL have an excellent home record in Europe, and Neftchi a very poor away record, so this backing Neftchi feels like a long-shot. How much weight should we give the first leg stats, and how much to their previous records? http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2013/matches/round=2000355/match=2009830/index.html http://uk.soccerway.com/matches/2012/08/30/europe/uefa-cup/apoel-nicosia/fk-neftchi/1370869/
Needless to say, having flagged this up I failed to back it and Neftchi won 3-1 in Cyprus - http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2013/matches/round=2000355/match=2009861/index.html I think I was put off by their terrible previous away record. Some sides just seem to be consistently hopeless away from home in Europe, and until tonight Neftchi were one of them. Thought: if a side dominates the first leg they might be worth backing for the second leg even if their overall past record is poor.
