BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December

Cast Cada - Ludlow 2:35 Interesting to see Noel Fehily back on board after Gavin Sheahan riding it lto. Won over hurdles twice and won a chase at Southwell in 2010, albeit a very weak one. However will like the ground and will stay the trip and he has a terrific record when riding for Mann at Ludlow, 15 winners from 60 rides producing a profit of +£59.98 to level stakes and just looks overpriced to me. 0.5 e/w @ 20/1 Boylesports BOG

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December L1.30 Fighting Chance 0.5pt E/W 20/1 Victor Chandler I think that Fighting Chance has a fighting cha...oh well, you get the idea ;). Handicap Chases are the trainers (R Lee) speciality and he's booked Felix De Files for the ride who I've been really impressed with of late, particularly over the larger obstacles. I'm not usually a fan of backing the oldest horse in the race, but the horse is on a really nice mark now and with the jockey booking, I just think the 20/1 is too big an e/w price for a 9 runner race. The horse has already won this year off just a 3lb lower mark (with the comment "impressive") so clearly retains the ability and this is the first time since that run that the handicapper has given it a chance.

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December 2.25 Wolverhampton Ivory Silk 1pt win 16/1 Paddy Power Ivory Silk was in great form earlier in the year winning 3 times, but has been rather inconsistent since. He put up his best performance for a while when finishing a good 2nd over CD a couple of runs ago. He was disappointing last time out but he looks of interest here now he has dropped below his last winning all weather mark, he is tried in first time cheekpieces and Luke Morris has been booked for the ride. Luke Morris rode the horse 3 times in 2010, all of which came in much better contests than this race and he did run well on each occasion. He is poorly drawn today but that won't matter too much given how he likes to be ridden. He is a horse that likes to be held up so he will need a good pace in the race if he is to win today. That looks pretty likely with the likes of Sir Geoffrey, Dasho and Woolfall Sovereign all possibly wanting to race prominently. Ivory Silk is probably a better horse on the all weather with most his career wins coming on an artificial surface. He may just need a little further to be seen to best effect but he has won over 5f at this track in his younger days off a mark of 80. If bouncing back to form there is every chance he could be in the shake up. This does look a very competitive race. Dasho has a great record on the all weather and must be given a chance. Lujeanie is very consistent and Close to the Edge must be given a chance form a handy draw. Lujeanie has never won off a mark this high but does have the scalp of Deacon Blues when defeating that horse last year on the turf. He looks the main danger to Ivory Silk. Ivory Silk is definitely a bit of a risky one but I am willing to take the chance that the cheekpieces may just perk the horse up. If this horse is anywhere near his best and if getting the breaks, he may just go close in this one. I think the handicapper has been kind in dropping this horse 10lbs after just 3 runs on the all weather.

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December Santefisio - Kem 6.15 (0.5ew 12-1 WH BOG) Won over CD in September and nearly followed up in October, going down by only one length off today's mark. Went off favourite LTO over 7f at Lingfield, but may have found the shorter trip unsuitable, and also made his challenge on the possibly slower far rail. Anyhow, at 12-1 seems worth an each-way punt, despite a wide draw.

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December 2.25 wolver DASHO - won what looked to be a highly competitive handicap at kempton lto and he returns to wolves where he has form figs of 12221 clearly loves polytrack and is thriving at present, trainer pointed this race out in interview straight after kemp win and everything should go to plan hoping for a big run. 1pt win dasho 9/2 powers, 365

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December 15:00 Wolverhampton Dashwood E/W (7,50) VictorChandler Dashwood failed to secure a hattrick, earlier this year. He´s been running very decent since then and polytrack seems to be his favorite surface. Trainer Carson are the new man in charge, of this 4 year old colt. It will be interesting, to see which influence he had so far and if he will be able, to transfer his current success to Dashwood. Dashwood are up 2lb since his latest win, so weights should not be a problem. Dashwood recent form. 1-3-4-1-4 The jockey Ryan Clark gets his first run, whit this horse. He showen decent form at aw this season and might be a wise choice for a rider.

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December 2.35 Wolverhampton Probably the weaker of the two divisions with most of these got to put below par efforts behind them. Sir Geoffrey is likely to be a pace angle given he is usually prominent but failed to build on a promise return from a break last time out and may just be a few pounds too high on this surface. Requisite was never a factor over 5f yesterday at Kempton in what was a farce of a race, should find this return to 6f a step in the right direction but may find this race coming too soon. Defence Council only has one win to his name in a maiden and had enough chances to open his handicap account, and recent efforts suggest he is better caught fresh. Woolfall Soverign has ran 2 reasonable races last twice but they have come over 7f and has looked to need all of that so a drop back to 6f not ideal and also gone up 7lb without winning from those two runs. Ivory Silk has looked to have gone off the boil recently and first time cheekpieces need to spark some life back but it also maybe a case the handicappers has her at the moment. Dasho has reasonable record on this surface and bounced back from some lesser efforts on turf last time out to win at kempton over 6f but was all out to hold on to that and 4lb rise may find him wanting although potentially still open to improvement on this surface. But that said they will all have to go someway to beat the impressive Lujeanie who seems to be in a great form at the moment. Won going away last time out and had travelled like a good thing throughout the race and a 4lb rise may underestimate that form and although wide draw not always ideal its not killer for a hold up sort who wants plenty of cover. 1pt win Lujeanie 4/1 pp

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December 6.15 Kempton Chilli Green - returned from a break last time at Lingy and ran a cracker when third to Numeral (had box seat) and Amitola (smashed in the betting and always well placed under Spencer). Should strip fitter for that run and respect at a track where he usually gives a good account, despite a slight rise in the weights. 8/1 VC Bet, 1 pt win

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December 1 point win scorched son 15.20 ffos las 12/1 bet365 i think the fact connections are running scorched son just 4 days after it fell means they think its might be capable of causeing an upset, scorched son only got back on track just over a month ago after nearly 2 and a half years off track, pulled up that day but might of needed the run, looked to be going ok 4 days ago so might be fit, both its wins from its 8 runs todate have been over this 2 mile distance, both times carrying a similar weight

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December kemp 5.15 - Rasheed - win at 5/1 bog Bet365 I think you've always got to take notice when one of the big Newmarket yards runs one on the all weather This one comes from Gosden's He won his maiden here last winter and had a light campaign on turf being well beaten in handicaps Has shown improved form back on polytrack, particularly last time out when stepped up to 10 furlongs here at Kempton and put up his best performance yet in handicap company, beaten under 2 lengths Up another 2 furlongs today and dropped a pound in the weights. First time blinkers are on

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December 1:00 Ludlow - Nosecond Chance - 1pt @ 5/1 (Bet365) Unless there's plenty of rain at Ludlow, the ground mightn't be soft enough for the relatively short-priced favourite to run up to his best and as a result, it's probably best to look elsewhere. Nosecond Chance looks like the one to oppose him with and although I don't particularly like backing last time out winners, Charlie Mann's 5-year-old looks more than capable of defying an 8lb rise in the weights and looks overpriced to do so at 5/1. Connections are now stepping him up to this 2m 4f, which, at this sharp track, should be well within his range and could bring out even further improvement in this lightly-raced, progressive animal. Nosecond Chance won a modest 9-runner handicap over 2-miles at Hereford last time out, getting up in the closing stages despite looking to have a slim chance of winning with a couple of flights still to go. In the end, he made up plenty of ground to catch the potentially useful leader and although that animal was a bit unlucky to lose, due to jumping to his left constantly, he looks to be a decent benchmark (plus they were a long way clear of the rest). That run suggests that Mann's charge should be even better over a longer trip and gets exactly that today. His sound jumping is also an asset and if he's in a similar mood today, he should go well in what looks to be another modest contest. The yard have a great record at this track, as does the jockey, and this animal looks in with a good chance of running another big race. 5/1 is a bit too big and small/medium win stakes will do the job.

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December 1.30 Mark Twain win - 4/1 Boyle His run lto represents really good form and the horses from the race have all run pretty well lately. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't build on that and should be competitive off this mark. Trainer is in great form after a quiet spell and I think if he beats the fav, he'll most probably win the race.

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December 12.30 Ludlow Scotsbrook Legend looks to have a good chance here dropped into a seller. Three runs so far not without some promise and didn't get far lto before unseating.Probably needs further but this is a fairly weak race and stable is very good at placing their horses in these sorts of races. Interesting jockey booking and might try to lead the whole way. 1 Pt win 7/1 Bet365

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December Selection Box - 1.05 Downpatrick 1pt Win 3/1 SJ When I started typing this horse was 4/1 but support has started to come. I think the favourite is worth taking on in this race so going for Selection Box. Trained locally he's back over hurdles and down in trip today but the ground is very heavy conditions and will take getting. Selection Box has decent course form which is extremely important at Downpatrick. He unseated lto over fences and prior to that he ran in a decent handicap finishing 8th. He made most the running that day before fading over the last few furlongs. That was 4f longer than todays trip so the drop back shouldn't be a problem. Prior to that he won in November and severals winners have come out of that race since (Down Under and Strange Encounter). Off top weight but should go well in a modest race.

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December 110 Ffos Las: Big Easy EW (11/1 WH) Decent price for this Hobbs runner who was well backed on his debut when disappointing at Exeter behind Jump City. Ran much better next time at the same track when given a very quiet ride to get his confidence and made late headway to finish 5th. Should be put in the race earlier here and can get placed at least. The only worry is the third run and being handicapped afterwards they may be looking in that direction rather than this event?

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December Ridgeway Hawk - 1.20 Wolverhampton This horse was in very good form before having a 9 month break. Picking up 2 wins and 2 seconds in 5 races. It has also run in some decent races which have produced winners. It had a poor return from a break to be honest and I think that it needed the run and will come on for it. It has also won once at the course from two starts. This may be a longshot but if it can find some of it's ability from before it's break then it should be in with a shout. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December Wolves 3.00: Roodee Queen 1pt win @ 14/1 Bet365 Following a stable in form here a little however think this horse has a great chance from only 2lbs higher than last victory. Made very decent progression over the summer winning 5 on the bounce with the last of those victories looking pretty solid in the context of todays race over this trip at Epsom. Been given a break since September but that shouldn't cause any significant problems and 14/1 looks too big IMO.

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December Already 2 tips posted for this race but i will side with a different runner and stick with a certain Mr Fallon in this race. Jockey K.Fallon makes the trip to Kempton tonight only for two runners, BUT the one he has come for is Race 5' on the card. Trainer R.Guest also has the two runners but again the one he wants is his 2nd runner of the night under Mr Fallon. The 3yr old gelding was only 9th last time out here at Kempton BUT he was coming back after a nice long break from Feb to Nov. That race should have him spot on for tonight and K.Fallon is not hanging around for 2 hours for nothing. Its Fallon's first time on-board and he should take alot of beating, both trip and going are both right up his street, just a real pitty about the price. Kempton Park 6:15 - REACHFORTHEBUCKS. 1pt win @ 15/8 Stan James. The cash is down, the rest is up to you Mr Fallon.

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December HENOK 1.10 Ffos Las. 1 point win. All about the ground for me, and I think he will appreciate this softer ground today, which in-turn should bring about improvement. The trip's fine and it's not a strong race, so should be a force to be reckoned with today. 6/1 Sportingbet.

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 21st of December 2.25 Wolverhampton - 1pt win Requisite @ 10/1 (Bet365) Ian Wood's going well at the moment, including with this horse, and 10/1 looks too big for a proven runner who gets 7lbs off her back in the shape of Raul Da Silva. 6f is her trip and there were excuses last time. This is competitive but so long as she gets the splits, should go well once more.
