BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October

Recommended Posts

Gusto - Doncaster 2:30 Hannon has two in this race but i really like this ones chances. Twice a winner over the distance it won nicely last time out at Kempton on the AW but is a proven winner on turf too as when winning at Haydock in August. Won that day by 4 lengths and is still lightly raced , im expecting a big run tomorrow. WIN @ 9/1 Bet365 BOG

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October 13:30 Doncaster Eagle Rock E/W (10,00) Bet365 The young gelding, only got 4 runs to his name. Eagle Rock had his debut at Ripon back in july, when second at 8 f. He moved up in distance to 10 f and lately 12 f again at Ripon, where he won. He will now run the same distance but on a slightly more soft going. I dont see that as a huge disadvantage, since the majority of the course are in good conditions. Its a 18 horse field, but he got a wide draw (1). That might be help him, against beeing stuck behind at wall of horses. Eagle Rock recent form. 2-5-3-1 The jockey Mullen been on board since day one. He and Eagle Rock, looks like a great combo, so no need to chance, the setup for this race.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October 440 Aintree: Havingotascoobydo 1pt 3/1 PP Putting this up early, I was pretty impressed by Martin Keighley's novice chaser when he bolted up at Ffos Las, he jumped superbly well and the stables horses sometimes need a run so i reckon there is more to come from the former point winner. He was entered in the Old Roan Chase and im sure it was tempting to nick some prize money but thankfully opted for this much easier contest and could go on to better things this season.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October Pretty good winner last time out and if he can make the jump in class he could run a big race. He never got the best of runs the last time but when he did get a clear run he was pretty eye catching. One of our fellow members told us he is one to follow and id say he could be right. First out had Mr Baker in the saddle but in race 2 on the card at Newbury jockey T.Queally gets the leg up. Newbury 2:15 - Oxford Charley. 1pt win @ 14/1 Tote & Betfred. Enjoy your weekend troops, fall out, at ease men, left , left, left right left.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October 5.15 Aintree Fine Parchment - returns from a break here but has gone well fresh in the past. unseated his rider here last time but is better than that, has placed chase form to his name here and noel fehily takes over from the kid that was on top for previous runs. 7/1 paddypower, 1 pt win

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October Beaten Up - Newbury 2.45 1pt Win 11/2 WH A case can be made for half a dozen runners here but Beaten Up struck a chord with me on his two runs to date. He's a half brother to Harris Tweed, was unraced as a 2 year old so should be open to any amount of improvement. Being so lightly raced he doesn't have the best form in the race but it was the manner of his win last time that was so taking. He destroyed what I thought was a pretty decent field with the likes of Mashaaref, Kenyan Cat, Art History lengths behind with Beaten Up hardly breaking sweat. Well worth having a look at it. He's a huge big horse so should have plenty of scope (not sure if this was some of the reason behind him being so lighly raced). Willie Haggas trains him, so he knows the family, and Johnny Murtagh takes the ride. Dangers aplenty with Barbican looking for a 4-timer, Al Kazeem has very decent form in the book and French Navy could bounce back if you ignore his poor run on Arc day. But Beaten Up looks like he could be a top class horse on the up and is well worth a bet.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October 2:00 Doncaster - Swilly Ferry - 1pt @ 28/1 (WillHill) Taking a wild punt here in this 22-runner, 5f sprint handicap. Swilly Ferry is an exceptionally well-handicapped horse on some of his form last year and although he only has a few half-decent runs to his name this season, he's capable of getting involved at a fancy price here. Charles Hills' 4 year old colt hasn't set the world alight since scoring off a 7lb higher mark (96) over 6f at Newmarket last May but he's now dropped back to 5f for the first time since his opening couple of runs as a juvenile and that's taken to suit. Swilly Ferry isn't lacking for speed at all and if first-time cheekpieces work the oracle, a return to form off a very nice rating wouldn't surprise me at all. He ran his best race of the year when 3rd over 6f at Goodwood in first-time blinkers a couple of starts ago and although it wasn't a fantastic run by any means (he had plenty to suit), it proved that he still retained a fair amount of his old ability. Hills' charge performed abysmally when last seen at the beginning of September, as he was tailed off in a similar contest to this. I can't spot any obvious reasons as to why he ran so poorly but he did the exact same thing on his previous 5 visits to York, so maybe he just doesn't like the place (despite having run well there at 2). Swilly Ferry has no such bad form around this course, as he landed a very valuable sales race over 7f here during his juvenile campaign. He also ran excellent races on his only other pair of outings at this track (including on debut over this 5f trip) and the return to Doncaster could help spark a revival for a horse with undoubted talent. He's also likely to be freshened up significantly by a recent 48 day lay-off and can go well fresh, so hopefully that'll help him too. He's drawn in stall 22 of 22 and that's perfect, as high draws usually dominate the sprint races at this track. The Charles Hills yard are in decent form of late (had a 33/1 winner here yesterday) and Robert Winston is on board this fellow for the first time, which is a definite step up on Michael Hills. Swilly Ferry is hardly a winner-in-waiting or anything but he's 25/1 here with 5 places being paid (28/1 with 4 places) and looks worthy of small stakes each-way support. If he can give his best, he could run a big race with plenty being in his favour. Stuart Williams' vastly improved 4 year old filly, Dreamacha (14/1), is the next-best bet and may be worthy of a few quid too. Tough race to get right but that pair look to be the value calls to me.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October Nby 3.45 - Willing Foe (0.5e/w 10-1 WH BOG) Won three races back-to-back over 10-12f last season before finishing tailed off last November. Off the track since, but the fact that Godolphin have perserved with him suggests that there could still be a lot more to come. Won first time out last season so fitness is not a major concern, especially since Godolphin usually have them fit after these kind of long absences.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October Aintree 4.05 Dizzy River win - 9/1 Fred VC Won shade cosily at Sedgefield and raised 8lbs for that, but I doubt he will be stopped by that. Stronger race here of course, but step up in trip will suit and should bring further improvement. Off feather weight, I think he will be thereabouts.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October 4.20 Newbury Roger Charlton has hit a purple patch and Doyle partners Inchina in this maiden today. Well bred and should be well suited to this mile start. Had vowed lately to stay away from maidens but I like the look of this fillys credentials and the recent form of the jockey stable combination gives me every hope that this could be a nice first time win for this one. 1 Pt win 10/1 Bet365

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October 3:45 Newbury: Glencadam Gold 1pt win 20/1 Bet365 Glencadam Gold has over a hundred day absence to overcome but with Sir Henry Cecil as his trainer that won't be a problem and the break may just have freshened Glencadam Gold up. He is lightly raced and has some good form to his name. At the start of the season Glencadam Gold went down by only half a length to Art History who has been running well all season and has just notched up a pair of wins. Glencadam Gold got off the mark for the season at Newmarket from a rating of 89. That smooth victory saw Parlour Games behind, and that is another horse that has gone on to show fine form with wins at Ascot and York. Glencadam Gold was then highly tried at Ascot and ran poorly at Newmarket in July. Back here off a mark four pounds higher than his last win and with the ground in Glencadam Gold's favour, he should go well at a decent price in a wide open race.

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October Newb 2.45 - Al Kazeem - win at 10/3 bog bet365 With Colombian a non runner this could be a straightforward task for Al Kazeem who has some top form on the board. Last time out was 2nd to green Destiny who ran well in the Champion stakes and the 3rd has come out and won a group 2 That looks pretty solid group 2 form The main dangers appear to be the lightly raced types stepping up in class, Mohedian Lady and Beaten Up

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October 2.30 Doncaster Dreamwriter Richard Hannon's filly absolutely hosed up on debut at Newbury, drawing away in convincing style. The speed figure she recorded that day indicated she was a good filly, and the form of the race is working out ok. You can ignore her run at Salisbury last time as she never got any sort of run and was eased down. Competitive heat today, but if she can find any improvement on her debut, she will take a lot of beating. 1 pt win @ 11/2 Stan James BOG

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October 5:20 Fairlie Dinkum @ Doncaster - Ran over shorter distances since its win at Musselburgh back in May.Finished 2nd and 3rd in the those two races which were both at Carlisle.Justin Newman takes the ride and he has an excellent 29% strike rate on 3 year olds this year with a profit of +20.88 with that age group in handicaps. 0.5pt E/W @ 16/1 @ William Hill

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October 16.15 - Darna 12/1 Paddypower 0.5pts ew Plenty to like about the favs but the selection has won twice over hurdles. This impressive form saw a switch to Kim Bailey after a £120k purchase. Step up in trip today should suit and one to watch in 2011/12

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October FENCING 3.00 Doncaster. 1 point win. Form of recent win looks strong in context, and although up against a couple of potential very useful horses, should be able to uphold form and probably improve further. Trip and ground suitable and should be quite tough to beat today. 11/4 Bet365 BOG

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October Rossbrin 3.05 Chepstow. 0.5 points each way. Always thought of as a chaser, so a big bonus with winning 2 races over hurdles. Has a bit to do at the weights for this chase debut, but I feel he'll be a bit better over fences and the trip and ground's fine. Big odds on the exchanges and in a race where any horse can win, I think we're decent value to hit the money. 25/1 Victor Chandler (bog)

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October 3:30 Aintree - Master Minded - Back He is one of the greatest chasers of all time and he can start this season with a bang here. Only a 3 runner but the outsider has no chance. Only has Albertas Run to beat but is a classier type than him and should confirm that today. 4/9 looks a very fair price 1pt win @ 4/9 Hills BOG

Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd of October 9.20 Wolves - Blown It 1pt win 10/1 bet365 Booking of fanning tonight looks significant as theyve had a successfull period of late as in last two weeks theyve combined 7 times for 2 wins and 3 more places and trainers only entry of the day Has had a few starts for dalgleish now and this is first time its sent to aw under him , not new to the surface as has ran on it previously for previous trainers and one of its victories was achieved over CD for osbourne so has a good chance. Looks poss high in weights but worth a chance
