BBOTD - 21st of Feb

Piccolo Express - Wolverhampton 6:00 I am surprised this horse is not shorter, should be favourite in my eyes. I think it has a major chance tomorrow. Had a break and after the break it has returned with 2 wins and a second from 3 runs and was very unlucky last tome out, it really should have won. It didnt break too well and was puched along in the rear, then it met trouble but it flew home and was only denied by a head by Downhill Skier, it was value for many more lengths if it had more luck. It is a C+D winner twice so knows the track well now, and i am very pleased that it runs off the same mark it ran off last time out (57), must have a huge chance of winning. 1 Point win @ 5/1 (Bet365) BOG

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 2.30pm @ Wolverhampton 'Noah Jameel' - Won very well last time out when picked up like Pegasus to leave the rest behindand catch the runaway leader in a race with decent yardsticks. Taking a chance in amateur race but I think it'd have a chance with me on it's back. 1 point win

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 5.00 Wolverhampton John Potts has to have a solid chance back round here, he completed a CD four timer in confident style on penultimate start, was disappointing last time out over a mile at kempton but has every chance to bounce back over CD again. He doesnt look a tricky ride nor does attitude look a problem so why it took him so long to get in front is an obvious concern but Harrison has ridden him to 3 of those victories so know what he is like! Lean Machine has hinted at ability before and finally got off the mark last time out, perhaps wasnt all out but not far off it but handicapper taken a light view of that win only putting him up a 1lb so should still be competitive having slipped so far in handicap. Yard still in good form and should be there. 1pt win John Potts

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 4.50 Hereford Quilver Tatou 1pt win 9/2 william hill Quilver Tatou was beaten by Massini Sunset a couple of runs ago and then ran an abysmal race last time out when sent off an odds on favourite. The horse is now much better off at the weights than Massini Sunset and should reverse that form. His last run was too bad to be true and jumped very poorly. The stable is in good form and they reach for blinkers here in the hope they can sharpen up the horses jumping. I am willing to forgive the last run and I expect a much better performance here. This horse should definitely be involved at the business end of the race. King Caine hasn’t completed on his last 6 attempts and although the horse has won on heavy ground in the past, I don’t feel this horse can be backed unless showing an improvement in its jumping. Come out Firing returned from a break last time out with a decent effort at big odds. Although that was on soft ground and the horse is entitled to come on for that run, I think the horse probably prefers better ground that what he will encounter today. The horse has won off higher marks in the past so has a chance but just think the ground is not in its favour today so I am happy to swerve this one. I don’t think American World can be backed with any confidence after his last few runs. They have all been pretty disappointing and the horse has been beaten long distances. Think this horse still needs a little relief from the handicapper in order to get back to winning ways. Buffalo Stampede returns from a lengthy break but I have no doubt this horse will be ready to go first time out. Don’t think the horse will be good enough here though and I have a slight reservation about the ground with this one. Not the best ground to be running on when returning from an absence. Quintero I don’t think will be good enough to take this and was well beaten when falling last time out. Ran a good race after a break back in December but hasn’t really built on that since so that one is passed over. Still yet to win a race and I think will continue after today. Take it there is interesting dropped back in trip but I think will struggle off his new mark. The horse will handle the ground but was pulled up on his latest outing, albeit behind a Pipe ‘good thing’. Interesting as well is the fact this horse has never won in any months other than November and December. Can run a decent race but can’t see it winning on this ground off this mark. Star Galaxy is definitely one for the shortlist. Returned to fences and on this heavy ground, this horse could run a big race. The horse has won off 102 before under this jockey and runs off 106 here. No room for error here but will relish the ground and after a recent pipe opener over hurdles, this horse could run a much better race today. One that I think is too high in the weights now is Massini Sunset whose winning run came to an end last time out when beaten a very long way. The horse had won its 2 previous races pretty comfortably so that was a very disappointing effort. Is now on a mark of 115 which is 11lb higher than when winning at Plumpton and although the horse will handle the ground, I don’t think he can win off this mark. Abey M’Boy is a course winner and will handle the ground. January last year got within 8 lengths of Grands Crus over hurdles but the horses form isn’t that strong. Won his only race over fences on heavy ground at Uttoxeter off a mark of 107 but since then has been a bit hit and miss. Will probably get placed here but I can’t back this one for win purposes. That leaves me with Quilver Tatou after ruling out everything else. I see Abbey M’Boy as the main danger and possibly Star Galaxy.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 3.40 Carlisle Royal Mackintosh ew @ 10/1 Course specialist with all four of his career wins coming at Carlisle. Not won since 2009 but has been lightly raced since then. Stays up to 4M and has very good form on the most testing ground. Last three performances have been lack lustre to say the least but back on his favourite stamping ground and will have everything in his favour if he recovers any of that old spark.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 2:10 Carlisle - Storming Gale - Back OK so he's going to be short here, but I think he's justifiably short. Made his UK rules debut lto after looking a good prospect in Irish point-to-point racing. He was extremely impressive lto in what, for the grade, looked a really decent race. He travelled the best, jumped the best, and won going away when sent to challenge by his jockey. He looks to have been found a glorious opportunity to follow up by connections here wih nothing possessing the same level of form as that boasted by Storming Gale. Senior Alco is consistent but seems to like finding one or two too good, and other that him there looks to be little capable of challenging. I am confident that as long as he puts in a sound round of jumping, Storming Gale will be tough to beat here and at 1/2 I think he's a good price 1pt win @ SP

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 6:00 Wolverhampton - Mount Hollow - 1pt @ 9/2 (WillHill) Trappy enough contest here but the French import looks likely to run a big race here. He's had 3 runs for his new yard, 4th first time up and 2nd last twice. Mount Hollow is going up in the weights despite not winning but a mark of 65 still looks very lenient and the return to 7f combined with the track running as standard (ran slow on opening 2 starts) will see him go one better I hope. He won a few decent races out in France and it certainly wouldn't take a career best to land the spoils here. The race should be run to suit and the booking of Luke Morris (on LTO too) looks a plus. The form of Mount Hollow's last 2 runs are working out well and I think he should be the clear favourite here. Medium stakes at a price that I think could shorten considerably. Gordy Bee and Piccolo Express rate as the main dangers but I fancy Reg Hollinshead's charge to do the business at the 4th time of asking.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb For a monday there is some cracking racing today. The pick today ran a cracker behind a tip of mine last time out, i do have a wee concern about the ground but am still happy to take a wee chance. Sue Smith's charge was 2nd last time out and was still running on well at the finish, the gelding will know today abit more about the racing game and should make a good race of it. Young jockey Shane Byrne gets the leg up and in my book he's a great future prospect. Carlisle - 5:10 Vintage Star. 1pt win bet. Am heading North for the Ram.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 3.30 Wolverhampton Johnny Hancock 7/1 bet365 bog Down in weights since win in December but still running consistently well and trainer might have found a nice little race here for him to win. Track, going and jockey not a problem. Price is key for me at 7/1 to win its the value pick in a tight race and I wont be surprised if he finishes much shorter by race time.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 3.10 Carlisle On my worst run for as long as I can remember, but got to keep plugging away. Bureaucrat was tried in a stronger race lto and is back in more suitable company today. I think the key here might be the ground. Although he has won on all sorts of ground he will be suited by the heavy going here. Also the trip should suit. Big question marks over everything else here and at the price I am hopeful of a good run. 1 Pt win 14/1 Ladbrokes

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 6.00 Wolves: Mr Emirati 1pt win @ 17/2 Coral BOG Been running well on the fibresand at Southwell last three runs. Returns to polytrack today and first time back over C&D maiden win (only win to date). Stable in decent heart, handicap looks attractive given known handicap form and take this one to go very close despite wide draw.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 3.30 Wolves -Overwhelm win 2/1 Betfred Won a maiden over CD on 4th start so has experience of aw which is vital here Had ran in a grp2 on second start , well beaten 19l 15th of 18 at odds of 100/1 but must have been thought enough to have been entered. After maiden win was entered in a listed race at Newbury finishing only 7 1/2 lengths behind winner when denied a clear when bumped in running And form franked when winner went on to win grp3 and also in 6th just behind selection Hooray went on a 3 timer in grp company also. Won't meet anything today of that standard today and runs here off 73 and Topliss takes 3 off on debut for Fahey who incidently is only trainer in race with a win in a 3yo h/cap this season

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb The opening novice at Carlisle is over 2m4f on heavy ground, Senor Alco made a pleasing debut back in November and can only improve but meets a decent horse in Storming Gale who won easily on his debut. He's a former pointer and will want three miles in time but it will seem like that today and cant be opposed. Malon Labe travelled well last time but found nothing and may grab a place. He steps up in trip and it may just suit him and he gets all the allowances too. Bet 210 Car: Malon Labe EW (25/1 VCBet)

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 3.10 Carlisle - Bishops Heir (11/2 WilliamHill) 1pt Win All three career wins have come after an absence on heavy ground - conditions he gets again today, whilst not looking particularly well treated on his first run in a handicap , riders 7lb claim is some help and could go close.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb Wolves 3.30 - Rylee Mooch 1 pts win @ 5/1 with Hills Deservedly picked up win after some solid efforts winning over 5f at Lingfield. Put in another solid effort when a narrow 2nd at Southwell lto. Is up 3lbs but I think could be involved here. This is a bit harder then previous races so would need a step up but as I said is in very good form and has a chance.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb Carlisle 3.10 Bureaucrat 0.5pt EW - 14/1 Lads VC The stiff uphill finish and the track should suit him, the heavy ground too. Contested a hot race lto and was far from disgraced. Used to be rated a lot higher in the past and the 3rd to Spirit River at Cheltenham off 2lbs higher reads well. With many here having questions to answer, I think Bureaucrat can get involved and at the price he makes a very good EW appeal.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb Wolverhampton 6:00 Piccolo Express 9-2 StanJames 1 Point WIN Popular race this as already a few selections but im going to side with Aidymac's analysis at the top of this thread. I think the handicapper is being too lenient as his last run which was second was caused by an incident in the stalls, had that not happened he would have that race in my opinion. Barring any accidents this horse should win this race. Not sure why Mount Hollow is the favorite as west leake looks the big danger but there are a couple that may improve but all have questions mark surrounding them. Piccolo Express has the best claims and the least doubts so at this price is a big win bet for me.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb SPONTANEITY 3.30 Wolverhampton. 0.5 points each way. Handicapping could see him get that first win, and does get in off a fair enough mark. The trip and surface shouldn't be a problem and hopefully can get the lead and run the race at own pace. 6/1 would appear as value in my opinion.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb Queenstown Lad 3.50 Hereford. 0.5 points each way. All about the heavy ground for me, this race, and we do enjoy running on it, and proved that with a win a couple of starts back. The test of stamina is right up our street too and so mix all that with getting in off a mark of 76 (12lb higher than for when winning), we should be capable of being involved in the finish of this race when others get very tired late on. I'll take quite a bit of the 10/1 with Victor Chandler.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 6-00 wolverhampton west leake -win a 3lb rise in the weights for this horse should not prevent him from going in again here,7f seems to be its best trip and ive noticed is the jockey on top as an excellent record on this horse it reads 1-1-3-7-9-1-1 so taking that into account i think he as place claims at least good luck all

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb 6.00 Wolverhampton - 0.5pts e/w Forward Feline @ 25/1 (Sportingbet) Big price this one, but overpriced in my view. Struggles to get its head in front, but often placed over 7f on the all-weather. Has been in the top 3 four times out of eight runs over the trip on polytrack. Dead heated over c&d off a mark of 62 in December 09 and runs off 63 today. Ran okay last time out but entitled to come on for the run after a break, but on its best form would have a chance here. A competitive, if not particularly strong race, and I wouldn't be hugely confident of a victory (hasn't solely won a race in 28 starts, but has placed on 7 out of 15 starts on the all-weather. Got a decent chance of making the frame from a decent draw with David Probert on board.

Re: BBOTD - 21st of Feb Wolv 5.00 - John Potts win at 4/1 BOG with Bet365 Only 6 runners for this handicap and they're a bit of a shower to be honest ! The selection won 4 on the trot here over a slighter shorter trip before being well beaten on a rare away trip to Kempton last time He does most of his running and most of his winning here, so hopefully the return to his favourite track will see him regain the winning thread
