Re: Golf: PGA Tour 2011 - WGC Cadillac & Puerto Rico Open

Good Luck Puerto Rico Open The three past winners here had sps of 125-1,250-1 & 125-1! So.... Troy Matteson ew @ 125-1 [Ladbrokes] & Lee Janzen ew @ 150-1 [bet365]
Any reasoning why Troy & Lee, mate?

Re: Golf: PGA Tour 2011 - WGC Cadillac & Puerto Rico Open 3 for me. 1pt ew M.Kuchar to win WGC Cadillac 25/1 Stan James (1/4 1,2,3,4,5) Ultra consistent golfer who was 3rd here last year. Hits the ball as well as anyone and his money list win last year shows how solid his game is. 3rd in the last WGC the matchplay and I think he can go a couple better this week. 4 top 10's in 6 starts this season further shows his consistency so even in a strong field given that he has all the credentials to go well - straight hitting and good putting - then I'll take him this week. 1pt ew F.Molinari Top Continental European at WGC 10/1 Stan James (1/5 1,2,3) Molinari is another who should go well this week. I opposed him at the Accenture as it was too close to the birth of his kid but that should've settled down and it's time to play golf again now. Tied 14th here last year and another who hits the ball as straight as a die. In the top 5 in driving accuracy and GIR's on the European Tour and with straight hitting a must this week that puts him in the mix. Got Kaymer to beat here which won't be easy but even the 2/1 the place is fine with me. Kaymer's in a high profile group though so FMo could slip under the radar and take the top Continental Euro crown this week. 8pts M.Kaymer to beat T.Woods - 72 hole match bet 5/6 William Hill Woods has a cracking record at Doral but that's almost irrelevant as his game ain't at that level or even close to it. He reckons he's improving but I've not seen any evidence of it. I'd suggest he's driving the ball worse now than at any stage in his career. I can't see him competing with Kaymer here. The German is ultra consistent, hits the ball so cleanly and straight more importantly and has the short stick going well. Runner up in the Accenture and tied 3rd here last year as well as the PGA win shows the German performs well in this high quality company now and I fully expect him to beat a woeful Woods over 72 holes this week.

Re: Golf: PGA Tour 2011 - WGC Cadillac & Puerto Rico Open Just a quick few for Puerto Rico...it's late so I wont go into too much detail! The winners may have been at big odds but they all had something in common...Florida. All had studied / grown up / lived in Florida and said that it reminded them of home. Stephen Ames @ 46ew SkyBet If the words Florida specialist were written for anyone, they're for Stephen Ames. This Trinidadian turned Canadian studied in Florida and now lives there, but most importantly he clearly loves the feel and style of course which is offered there...and will be showing in Puerto Rico. In the last four years he has 3 wins in Florida, 2 at the Childrens Miracle, and one at the PLAYERS champs so the guy is clearly a class act in this field. In terms of current form has made three of four cuts this year which is solid, and with 4 tour wins to his name - most recently in 2009 - should have no problem seeing out against this field. Brett Wetterich @ 61 ew Bet365 Florida resident and tour winner Brett Wetterich is finally getting back some form after injury has blighted his last couple of years. Finish top 15 in Mexico a few weeks back which bodes well for his move away from the USA this week. Has a good record in Florida having chased Tiger down the stretch to finished 2nd at this weeks WGC event in 2007 and having 3 other top 10 finishes at the Honda classic. Has the class and ability to devour this field at these odds. Matt Every @ 67 ew StanJames Florida boy Every has started to show some great form which he promised to bring to Tour all the way through his college days. Finished T31 at Pebble Beach in his only PGA start this year but also has a T18 in Panama and a 2nd place finish last week in Bogota - both from the Nationwide Tour. Seeing as this is pretty much a low tier PGA Tour event he can show well at these odds in good form. Woody Austin @ 101 ew Bet365 This is a Florida boy through and through and his record shows it with top 10s at Doral, Bay Hill and the Honda over the years. Made his last cut in Mexico without showing too much but finished 7th here last year on the back of three missed cuts so feel the price on this 3 time tour winner is too good to pass up. Rod Pampling @ 151 ew ToteSport OK so he may not be local to Florida but his record there is outstanding. He has a number top 10s including 2 at Doral, and he also has a win at Bay Hill in 2006 which bodes well. Lost his card last year so will be anxious to play well here. Was solid back home in Oz over the winter and made his last cut in Mexico with four solid, if unspectacular rounds. Feel he his overpriced in this field. GL :ok

Any reasoning why Troy & Lee' date=' mate?[/quote'] Hi Russ Yeah Troy has a history of showing improved form from nowhere.is coming here after 3 missed cuts while Lee has course form and showed at Pebble beach last month that best days may not be behind him

Troy is tied for the lead at halfway on - 10,so have traded with a lay on Betfair at 8.2 to guarantee a profit now whatever happens. Lee is now on - 3 and now tied 36th

Wow Troy will take a 3 shot lead into the final round, and those who want to trade further can do so currently @ 1.63 on Betfair. Big pay day awaits me now if he can keep the lead and a reasonable profit due thanks to hedging if he cant:hope Lee is way off the pace now

Looking very good for you Striker. Matteson has hit -5 or better every round so far and if he does that again he'll certainly win.
Whats Bradley trading at now crouch? You already out or hoping he can claw a shot back or two or even let it ride? With striker on Matteson, you on bradley and Kev on Kuchar, Kaymer and F.Molinari, it could be a very profitable thread again this week!

Re: Golf: PGA Tour 2011 - WGC Cadillac & Puerto Rico Open Just woke up! Can't remember the last time a Monday morning felt so good :loon

Fantastic win Crouch :clap Unlucky Striker...can only assume it's a bit of a choke playing par golf all day. Stephen Ames managed to get 3rd so top 3 on the forum. :hope the form continues :ok
Cheers mate. Got to say though that I feel a bit for a Striker. Was a great pick and to come so close like that really is quite gutting. Hope you get the next one mate.

Re: Golf: PGA Tour 2011 - WGC Cadillac & Puerto Rico Open Unbelievable tipping guys...great stuff :clap Being a golf fan I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on whether Woods will ever win again. Ive been laying him regularly, and he doesnt even go close. Ive noticed over the years that many pros when they are in a poor scoring mode tell the media that they are working on swing changes. The average fan couldnt tell by watching Woods what his swing changes were. Do they exist?? Personally I dont think they do, and his problems are in his head. Anyway, once again, great tipping...will follow this thread closely from now on... Cheers amigos :clap

Lots of pro's are constantly tweeking things but you are probably right that a lot of the problems are in his head, but that is easily understandable with whats gone on over the last year. Will he win again? 100% he will, probably this year and more majors will come in time imo, but i think the fear factor he used to hold could be gone for good.

I can help out with that one... you see its like this.... I followed the Kaymer bet.... Didn't follow the other 2.... From that point.... the results were pretty much decided... I've said many a time, thinking for myself doesn't pay, but I refuse to listen to my own advice... and keep attempting it... needless to say I backed Quiros who I think was 2nd last!! Perry (Feeling sorry for himself :sad).......

Re: Golf: PGA Tour 2011 - Transitions Championship Going to put these up early as no doubt I'll be Cheltenham-ing for the rest of the week! Lots of tempters (Watney, Howell, Laird and McNeill to name but 4)but had to whittle it down nonetheless. It was tough! Might have noticed a link between records here and the John Deere Classic - both long par 71s so it's a possibility. Stricker has won the JDC twice and has a great record here, John Senden won at the JDC and has finished RU twice here, Sean O'Hair has won both, Vijay Singh has won both, Brett Quigley has RUs at both, Kenny Perry won the JDC and has 4 top 20s and never missed a cut here....OK, so you see where I'm going with it - it may be a coincidence but something else to bear in mind I guess. Bubba Watson @ 34 ew BetFred Bubba is turning into a great player, no doubt about that. Having bagged his first win last year, he found himself in a playoff of a major at the end of last year, and now has already won again this year. Sure he's a little wild off the tee but his GIR from off the green is the best on tour as he says he's used to playing from the rough! Top of the GIR rankings this year with nearly 77% which is phenomenal. Missed last week with flu but has played Doral before and it didnt suit too well so I dont think it's too much of a bad thing. His record round here is strange, either it's very good or very bad. He finished top 20 here in 2007 and last year finished 3rd. I'm going to take the 3rd into account a lot more as he's finally starting to believe in himself and I feel these odds are well worth taking for the local boy. Jonathan Byrd @ 46 ew Bet365 Four top 12s in the last 5 years here including a top 10 last year, top 10 last week at Doral, won on tour already this year in a playoff, won at the John Deere Classic. Can be noted that Byrd isnt the only South Carolina based player who has enjoyed success here with Lucas Glover and Carl Pettersson also playing well here - clearly the SC players feel good here. Basically, Byrd ticks all the boxes and I feel he should be at the same odds at Bubba. Might not be such a big name on tour but I have a feeling he could go close here on a course he likes as he's clearly playing well. Jimmy Walker @ 101 ew PP I know I picked him out a couple of weeks ago but he's still playing great golf. 3 top 9s in 6 starts this year and coming back to a course he played well at last year finishing T16. No outstanding form at the John Deere Classic but has hit a 64 there so with his current form, a bit of course form, local links (lives in Florida), and the 64, I'm more than happy to take 3 figure odds! John Senden @ 81 ew BetFred Since the tournament has moved to March he has finished runner up twice and top 30 last year (sitting top 10 after three rounds) so he clearly loves the course and the conditions. Hits greens for fun as shown by topping the GIR for 2 years running and is again near the 70% mark. Coming off two top 40 finishes and a weeks break, just think he is a tad too big in terms of price with his course form. Doesnt win enough but did win another lengthy par 71 (John Deere Classic) so hopefully he'll do it again. Troy Matteson @ 101 ew BetFred May not be over his poor final round last week, however, I think it's definitely factored into the price. He is a guy who holds his good form and having finished runner up here just a few years ago, along with 2 other top twenty finishes in the last 5 years,I'm hoping a feel good factor will kick in especially being back near home in Florida. Another player with a good record at the John Deere with two top 10s in last 4 years. Wasnt expecting a 3 figure price and feel this is generous on a course that clearly suits. GL :ok

Re: Golf: PGA Tour 2011 - Transitions Championship Thanks again for the kind words lads. :ok Now for lightning to strike twice... Retief Goosen @ 29 Sportsbet Goosen I feel is coming into a bit of form at an ideal venue. He is a twice winner at this event and scored a top 5 finish last year as well. At these odds I think he's worth taking as he's clearly got the mental game to win tournaments. KJ Choi @ 36 Betfair This is clearly an event that KJ Choi loves. He's won here on two occasions and was runner up last year, with another top 10 finish to boot. KJ has been playing solid golf without really challenging, but a return to a course that has brought so much success to him may well prove the tonic he needs to return to the winner's list. Jonathan Byrd @ 42 Betfair Also 1st Rnd Leader @ 46 Betfair Byrd has a very appealing record at this event. He's notched up 3 Top 10 finishes and a further 2 Top 15 finishers. He's shot 67 in his past 3 first rounds at this event before fading over the weekend. He also took a lead into the third round back in 2004 before crumbling to finish outside the Top 40. He is now a PGA Winner though and I feel this extra confidence may see him make more of any good start he might produce this time around. Carl Pettersson @ 101 Betchoice Pettersson has a strong record in this event having won it previously and finished in the top 10 on two other occassions. He's been playing fairly well this year without really challenging for the win (Tournament of Champions excepted). However he has been playing 1-2 good rounds of golf each week and with a return to a course that he clearly enjoys could well prove the difference between contention and making up the numbers.

Re: Golf: PGA Tour 2011 - Transitions Championship Good Luck Lads Be interested in how Troy Matteson bounces back from a tournament he knows should have won last week,if mentally strong the 100-1 looks big, also like Carl Pettersson at the same odds But the main bet is on Webb Simpson @ 100-1 [bet365] Finished 13th last year and looks a better player now.

Re: Golf: PGA Tour 2011 - Transitions Championship Just a point but earlier in the season I took Sergio for the Masters @ 80s. That's still available with one bookmaker and I think it will be half that if he shows well this week. He certainly has the game for the Masters as he has always been a fantastic ball striker and showed that with two Top 10 finishes early in his career. Looks to be getting back to the player who was closing in on Tiger a couple of years ago as he has finished in the top 30 in his last 6 tournaments (and all have been in very good company). Comes back to Florida where he has a great record (Players Champs win) so if you have any inkling of wanting to back him, I feel this could be your last chance at what is potentially great odds for one of the most gifted players of this generation. This could be one of those comeback feel good stories, of course with Sergio it may also be money down the drain! I think he'll shorten up before the Masters anyway so I'm to take the odds. GL :ok

Re: Golf: PGA Tour 2011 - Transitions Championship Few more value shots: Kenny Perry @ 320 Betfair Quite simply the odds are too big. Though he has only 1 top 10 finish in 7 starts at this event, he has never missed the cut and made the Top 30 on 6 of those occassions. In the last three years he has shot an opening round 66 and 67 in two of those years and considering his experience and long driving I think he has to be considered a value bet. Joe Durant @ 650 Betfair Very much a course form pick here. Durant has 3 Top 5's in this event and was in contention in this tournament last year before carting 7 over in his last round to drop out of contention. At these odds and with this course history he simply has to be considered IMO.
