    1.00 Ripon - 1pt e/w Orchid Rose @ 25/1 Bet365
With three places on offer here, I'll take an each-way chance on Orchid Rose who displayed great speed on debut at Doncaster before fading into 4th place that day. Was nibbled in the market at big odds for a yard who wouldn't have many 2yo winners and showed plenty of promise when pouring it on from the front to be four lengths clear a couple of furlongs out. Got tired late on but ought to come on for that and is well drawn at a track that should suit, with a good chance of bagging the rail from stall 7. Has a fair amount to find but could make the first three if backing up the promise of her debut effort.
    1.45 Kempton - 1pt e/w Looktothelight @ 9/1 Bet365
This one has lots of in and out form but crucially returns to the all-weather where its best form has been and that's no surprise given his pedigree - very much bred to be best on artificial surfaces and shaped with promise on a couple of all-weather runs. Bled from the nose when well beaten at Lingfield so that can be ignored but was 2nd to a 90+ rated horse at Southwell the time before when ultimately having no chance at the weights and ran okay in a hot novice at Kempton previously. Conditions suit, dropped in the weights and been some market support already today.
    2.00 Ripon - 1pt win Delph Crescent @ 5/1 Bet365
Has been coming down the weights for some poor efforts but has had excuses and this represents an easier contest today. Can draw a line through his run at Catterick last time when setting a fierce gallop on soft ground over 1m4f, a trip that he doesn't stay anyway in my opinion so no shock that he weakened out of it that day and similarly prior to that. These conditions suit, the track should help too and he's off a decent mark. Reckon with a more conservative ride he can bounce back.
    2.30 Ripon - 1pt e/w Frankelio @ 8/1 Bet365
Was well held in the end at Pontefract last time but the 10 length winner was clearly on a going day and this horse still ran creditably. Won at that track three starts back before not quite able to get involved here two starts back but that came in a substantially better race than this and he remains off a winnable mark. Soft ground no bother either and down in grade represents a decent each-way bet at 9/1.
    2.45 Kempton - 1pt win Twentysharesofgrey @ 13/2 Hills
Been mildly progressive and was set a very difficult task on handicap debut where it paid to be on the front end here and this one was kept right out the back. Kept on well ultimately for a distant second but the race was totally against her and gets a better opportunity here with another run under its belt - ought to go close with conditions suitable.
    3.00 Ripon - 2pts win Mustaqbal @ 4/1 Bet365
A lot to like about Michael Dods' runner here as he's in form, well handicapped and today gets his ideal conditions. The ground will be drying up but should still have enough cut in it to make this a test at the trip and that will play into the hands of Mustaqbal. Finished well the last twice including in a higher grade but the ground was too quick to be seen to best effect. The leaders will come back easier under these conditions and he should go very close.

    12.35 Southwell - 1pt e/w Star of St James @ 12/1 Bet365
Star of St James was only beaten a length at Ayr two starts back and ran respectably at Musselburgh last time in a higher grade. This is arguably his easiest assignment to date and I think these conditions might just suit - hopefully from a prominent sit from stall 2. His dam was a progressive type who stayed well so I think there could be more to come from Star of St James and given his fairly one paced nature, the fibresand might just suit so will have a go at a double figure price.
    12.45 Ripon - 1pt e/w Contact @ 10/1 Bet365
Backed this one on debut at Pontefract and thought it shaped pretty well despite being comfortably held. Travelled pretty well through it and didn't have the best of runs up the straight without being given a hard time and should come on for that. Definitely bred to enjoy the extra couple of furlongs here and hopefully soft ground won't inconvenience - should be okay on pedigree so think he could improve quite a bit today.
    1.20 Ripon - 1pt win Just Hiss @ 13/2 Bet365
Market isn't speaking particularly in this one's favour but that could just be down to support for the favourite and this one is 3lbs higher for winning here last time despite everything going wrong, so it's reasonable to expect another competitive run here if things pan out a bit better. Still off a decent mark on old form so represents a good price to follow up.
    1.50 Ripon - 1pt win Albadri @ 6/1 Bet365
Would be much shorter if this one came from a more powerful stable but Jane Chapple-Hyam wouldn't have many first time out winners so the fact this one was so impressive on debut, even at 100/1, suggests it's pretty decent. Form looks okay with a couple of horses in behind with previous good form and we know handles conditions so I think this one is a decent type and can take this in its stride.
    2.10 Southwell - 1pt win Loose Chippings @ 7/1 Bet365
This one has never run badly around Southwell and although usually over further, definitely has enough speed for the mile. Was too keen last time out over 1m2f and I expect him to go forward from his wide draw here. A couple of these towards the head of the market have to prove their stamina and I think this one can just keep grinding from the front and put his to good use.

    12.45 Goodwood - 2pts win Grand Scheme @ 4/1 Bet365
Ran with promise on debut over 6f but on pedigree will definitely need further by Territories out of a middle distance dam. Stayed on late that day in a decent race and will relish the extra couple of furlongs today. His sire relished soft ground so conditions shouldn't faze this one and looks a likely winner to me.
    1.50 Goodwood - 1pt win Point In Time @ 11/1 Bet365
Wasn't quite so good last time over 1m6f but I think 1m4f with some ease in the ground is spot on for this one and has plenty of form that would see her involved here. Back down to a winnable mark and this would be easier than some races she's competed in so well worth a go at a double figure price.
    2.25 Goodwood - 1pt e/w Woven @ 10/1 Bet365
Backed this one at Ascot last time when a bit disappointing but has a chance on its previous form and has been dropped a couple of pounds for that effort. Not the quickest but generally finishes off races quite well and has won over 7f so the extra stamina on this ground might help and it's interesting this would be its first run on testing ground being by Dutch Art and out of a Pivotal mare as it might just suit.
    3.35 Goodwood - 1pt win Escobar @ 9/2 Bet365
Ran flat at York last week but I think a lot of horses well beaten there will bounce back and was an excellent 3rd at Goodwood the time before, with that form giving him every chance in this race. Seemed to improve for wind surgery that day and he's back to these conditions on soft ground which also suits. Hopefully can bounce back.

    12.35 Windsor - 2pts win Solent Gateway @ 5/1 Bet365
Highest rated runner in the field and although disappointing last time at Haydock, I think is well worth another chance as if he runs anything like his effort when 2nd two starts back, he'll take the world of beating. Was 2nd to a horse who has since run very well in a Group 1 at Deauville, the horse in 3rd is now rated 82 and the horse in 4th rated 90, both of which were comfortably held by Solent Gateway on the day. Both his sire and dam enjoyed soft conditions so although has to bounce back from a below par effort last time, has a good opportunity to do so here.
    12.55 Newmarket - 2pts win Grande Rumore @ 7/2 Bet365
Favourite's win at Chepstow looks good but difficult to know what it beat there and this is harder. There's plenty to like about Grande Rumore's form in novices and handicaps so far and these conditions are spot on - 7f on soft ground seems exactly what it wants having faded late on over the mile here last time. It's 7f form suggests this mark isn't beyond its capabilities and can take the beating.
    1.15 Goodwood - 1pt e/w Eyes @ 12/1 Hills
With three places on offer I think it's worth chancing Eyes at an each way price having shaped very well at Salisbury last time out. Didn't move well on debut when beaten out of sight and was sent off a huge price at Salisbury but having sat out the back early, made a lot of ground up without the jockey getting serious and finished the race off strongly. If taking another step forward here, can get involved at the business end so long as the ground doesn't pose an issue.
    2.05 Newmarket - 1pt win Shabaaby @ 13/2 Bet365
Disappointed a bit at Newbury last time having made a promising reappearance in a Group 3 the time before, keeping on but it's quite plausible the second run came too soon after a significant absence and has been given time since then before making an appearance this afternoon. Would have a big chance on most of its form other than last time out and has bolted up when experiencing soft ground previously so lots in his favour now.
    2.25 Goodwood - 2pts win Battered @ 11/2 Bet365
Ended last season quietly but has come down the weights as a result and shaped well on his first start of this season, keeping on from the rear and Chester wasn't the right track for last time for all he still ran respectably. He's off a very fair mark now, this track suits better and soft ground isn't an issue so this represents his most likely assignment of recent times.
    3.50 Windsor - 1pt win Aljalela @ 7/1 Hills
I think there can be more to come from this one on handicap debut having failed to get involved behind smart types the last twice. Ran behind Hukum at Kempton two starts back when beaten 10 lengths and stayed on late at Chepstow again over a mile last time out. That was its first run for a while and this one's attractive pedigree very much suggests it'll come into its own now tackling middle distances. Mark is fairly lowly but should improve now and can get involved if underfoot conditions don't inconvenience.

Maybe bonkers but considering the ground might not suit some of these in a small field, I think it's worth having a poke at the rag here. Wholelotafun is more exposed than these and hasn't won a race but has shown promise in England and France and wouldn't be out of this off a mark of 70 given his price in a small field. Shaped quite well from off the pace at Chepstow when last running on these shores, keeping on well under a fairly gentle ride into 4th with an action that suggests that soft ground would suit. He's handled it when running okay in France and a testing 7f looks ideal for him, so with question marks on a couple of the others, we'll have a tentative play on the rank outsider.

    12.00 Fontwell - 0.5pts e/w Manjaam @ 33/1 Bet365
Definitely has some work to do to get involved here on his hurdling debut but he shaped much better than his finishing position of 7th, well held in the end. He jumped okay and travelled up well to dispute the lead turning in before fading quickly between the last two flights. That was his first run in six months so was entitled to need it and I'm willing to put that down to fitness as his stamina shouldn't have given way that badly over 2 miles around Southwell given his exploits on the flat. It was less than a year ago that he was competing off marks in the mid 80s on the level so he's a decent type and still only 7 so shouldn't be regressing permanently. At the odds, he's worth chancing now he's had that first run under his belt.

    1.20 Goodwood - 2pts win I'm Available @ 7/1 Bet365
It may seem like he's lost his way a bit but I think that's a bit harsh as he was racing wide in a much better race than this here last time and didn't have much chance at Kempton the time before when losing his place having suffered trouble in the run. Was competitive before that off higher marks in better races than this and has ideal conditions today as soft ground doesn't bother him. This represents a good opportunity to bounce back in lesser grade down the weights and I'd be disappointed if he doesn't go well in first time blinkers.
    1.40 Fontwell - 1pt e/w Felix D'Autry @ 12/1 Bet365
Hasn't been devoid of promise in his career to date - sent off a short price when staying on for 2nd in a bumper despite being off the bridle for a long way and shaped with some credit in novice hurdles behind some smart types. Was never going to get involved at the business end given that horses have been rated in the 140s subsequently that he's faced but has finished off his races fairly well and shapes as if this step up in trip can suit on handicap debut. The horse he finished alongside of at Doncaster when last seen has won a handicap since off a similar mark to what this one runs off today and at a double figure price is worth a go each way.
    3.00 Goodwood - 1pt e/w Theocrat @ 33/1 Bet365
Happy to take on the favourite despite winning well at Catterick last time as still unproven over the trip and races have kind of fallen apart at that venue lately. At a big price, Nigel Hawke's runner has shown some promise on two of his three novice starts and has shaped as if needing a stiffer stamina test. Was a sound enough 5th on debut at Chepstow over 1m4f before failing to improve when well held at Doncaster. However, that came just a week later and it's possible it came too soon. Bounced back with another respectable 5th at Kempton in a very hot race (first 4 home all rated in the mid 80s at least), keeping on as if the step up in trip would suit. Gets 2 miles today on his handicap debut and in a race where plenty have things to prove, is worth chancing at big odds.
    4.05 Goodwood - 2pts win Iconic Knight @ 6/1 Bet365
Put him up the last twice when winning a decent race at Chepstow and then when unlucky last time when slowly away and staying on powerfully late on. If breaking better today he's got every chance off the same mark and has run well here before. Is a soft ground winner and if this turns into a stamina test there should be no issues with that as he sees out 6f strongly. Looks to hold a big chance.

    12.15 Goodwood - 0.5pts e/w Wholelotafun @ 40/1 Bet365

    1.30 Beverley - 1pt e/w Quiet Assassin @ 8/1 Bet365
Not sure the favourite should be odds on here and I'll try Quiet Assassin on debut for a yard who has had a juvenile winner this season with this one having a likeable pedigree and one that should suit soft ground. Both sire and dam won on debut, he's handily drawn in stall 5 and has been nibbled in the market already today which is no bad sign.
    1.50 Sedgefield - 1pt e/w Lovely Schtuff @ 12/1 Bet365
Bit of a fragile type who's very in and out but shaped well on his first run after wind surgery last time from the front when coming to grief and has shown signs off higher marks that he's capable under these conditions. I think the trip is ideal, as is the return to a left handed track and has come down the weights a lot to be able to go off a featherweight in a weak race today. If building on that first run back now his wind has been seen to, could outrun his odds.
    2.20 Sedgefield - 1pt e/w Calvinist @ 12/1 Bet365
Seems a most curious price for a horse in good form but to be fair he was quite weak in the market both the last twice when going close. Put him up both of those days and shaped very much like he needed the step back up in trip that he gets today last time when getting outpaced in a sprint finish before closing in again at the line. Conditions suit so long as there's no deluge and is too big a price on form.
    2.50 Sedgefield - 1pt e/w Alexander The Grey @ 9/1 Bet365
Theme of the day is horses I've backed recently and I have to go in with this one again with 8 runners - jumps boldly from the front and often has his rivals on the stretch before chucking in the towel but with three places on offer, at the price I think he's worth a dabble. This track can help - it can be a jumping test which helps him as he's usually good over his obstacles and he can roll down the hill turning in and hopefully put him into a winning position. The race is never won with him until he hits the line but should be there or thereabouts turning for home so is worth a go at the price.

Was in good form until last time at Pontefract but had obvious excuses that day, held up from a very wide draw over 5f on quick ground and he just couldn't get involved from the back. His two starts prior were decent, he's coming down the weights and has ideal conditions here. Enjoys the mud, a stiff 5f is ideal, he's well handicapped and crucially well drawn on this occasion. Wide open race but ought to bounce back here.
