Hey, @The Maximiser, @Ratso, do you want to export daily ELO ratings or ratings for individual leagues?
If it is daily ratings, I can offer help untill your request is resolved. Indeed, data can be copied only into single column, even when using web query within Excel, so I created a small workbook that parses data into a proper table. You can download it from here: https://rvasi.me/files/Punters-Lounge-parse-ELO-ratings.xlsx
Instructions are inside, and please note again, it works only for daily ratings, not for individual leagues, they appeared to be too stubborn... ?

Its probably because I've been up all night but I can't get my head round what you're saying. It's the use of the negative that's confusing me even though it shouldn't of course. There are odds because without odds the bookies would lose money .
As far as league tables are concerned yes obviously using ststistics that everyone can see and knows doesn't make a profit.
So I will just repeat, if it's impossible to make a profit from betting from statistics alone ,what's the purpose of using statistics at all ? Why not just use the other factors ?
Im genuinely simply asking what the purpose is of statistics in gambling if they don't make you a profit ?
And what are the other factors ?
These may be thought stupid questions but I'd have thought that any beginner reading this might like to know the answer.
Because after all finding relevant statistics is quite tedious work and some people don't want to do it and do if they perhaps aren't necessary thst would be a big help.
This is old thread, so I had to remind myself of what is the subject of argument between you and me...
It seems it started when you questioned my statement "Statistics alone cannot yield profitable results". I still hold on to that statement. If predictions that are based purely on the stats could be profitable, everyone would make profit from betting - you just analyse previous seasons to find a profitable pattern, apply it to next season, and that's it, you earn money!
But it's not the case, so you must include those "other factors" you insist on, and they are highly subjective - referee, weather conditions, absent players, distance between cities, fatigue of one of the teams due to tight schedule, pitch conditions, etc etc...
So I don't really get what you want to say "Why not just use the other factors?" - you are free to use whatever you want.

Nice to hear for corners! I saw @twinny runs successfull thread on corners at Glory Hunters section, and got me interested in that market, but sources of the corners statistics are sparse, so I'm sure it would be another nice addition to the site! Which, BTW, progressed a lot since I last visited!

Yes, that's what I meant, all matches that take place on a certain day. It could be available at main page, as you propose, but it also could have its own links, for example "All matches today", "All matches tomorrow", etc., similar to links that exist now for each league. So, visitor can choose either a league either a day.

"Statistics alone cannot yield profitable results....." !!?
Golly. This is a gem of a quote.
If this is true then why bother with statistics at all?
Why not just use the other factors?
What are these other factors?
If it is not true, then why there are odds at all?!
You just have a look at the league table, the team that has better statistics (whatever you define it is) always wins, and that's it.

Hi, babyodds, to the forum, nice to have you on board!
As Aidy warned you, there are some rules to posting your picks; one of the most important is that only bets posted here before kick-off counmt; your past performance is irrelevant. Hence, I removed all those vivid images, tables and charts showing your great profit in 2014/2015 season.
As there seems to be no strategy behind your bets, I have moved your thread into Glory Hunters section, it's more appropriate place. Please have a look at Glory Hunter Forum rules, and try to adhere to them. That includes, inter alia, regular updates on profit/loss of your thread.
Have a nice evening, and good luck with your bets!

Looks like there is some error with Systems & Strategy forum; it's link is
https://forum.punterslounge.com/forum/87-systems-strategy/
But when I click it, it throws an error, as it goes to different URL:

There is no way to delete your post?
Below the post, you should have button "Options", and within that option "Delete".

+1 for the new layout, too - much cleaner and easier to read, and much faster!
Mobile version is awesome, finally easy to read on mobile! As you know, vB4 was not responsice, while vB5 was responsive, but it was just not really read-friendly.
Congratulations, guys, great job! :)

Check here to see how easy it is; the story begins about page 10 and onwards: https://forum.punterslounge.com/forum/systems-glory-hunters-general-betting/glory-hunters-forum/161547-10k-investment-in-bfair-v-isagood point. so 1 goal is enough to win your bet? seems to easy :-) -
"unlucky" is not a proper adjective in this case; "stubborn" is. ;)Unlucky last night BigBapper -

And the thing that bothers me most is that there are many new members that follow these type of bets on Punterslounge thinking that the person placing them does so with great confidence especially when risking up to 5K of "so called real money" on a particular bet' date=' when we long term followers know he is only chasing losses[/quote'] In that case, not a single betting forum should exist, as you can find betting picks with 10/10 confidentiality anywhere, but that doesn't mean you should bet your house on them! If someone does... well, then he will learn the hard way... I mean, there are a lot of warnings about gambling around, and you cannot, or don't want to, censor the threads just because the guy started with the bank of 10,000 and lost half of it. If someone can afford to follow the picks, let him be. And the way the thread develops, I actually think the opposite, it's great exercise for newcomers how not to bet. I for one changed my mind a lot of times about this thread, as it took various turns over its course, so some things looked more likely at one point, and then the opposite in another point. But since the system went belly up, I believe he has really been betting with the real money; if it was only paper money, he would have more patience, as he wouldn't care too much about profit/loss, but more about the system, to prove it works; but the way he was placing the bets - overconfidence and urge to bet, and then loss chasing and urge to bet - resembles me real behavior when one gets to a lucky winning run, starts believeing is unbeatable so hurries up to make as much profit as he can, and then when reality bites him back again hurries up to recover losses. So I'd say he has a gambling problem, and I believe that he recently actually placed more bets but didn't publish them here. In any case, I don't think the thread should be removed; why? This is betting forum, not baby food recipes forum, so anyone who enters should be aware of gambling risks; and moreover, I'd say if someone blindly follows bets as stupid as ones in this thread... well, deserves the outcome; and if he didn't find those bets in this thread, he would find them elsewhere, just if he had decided to throw away his money. I don't get this part, what fake run? :unsure

Well, I don't know then... :( I've checked my settings, and I have PM enabled, so it's not the cause. Hope Paul will look into this issue.

It looks like this for me: I have just repeated PM for you, I hope it got through; the problem yesterday evening was that you had PM disabled, as I was from the mobile, I didn't see warning message at the moment, only later; so I clicked "Post", but it never got sent. This time, it seems that message went through, and I see it in "Sent items" folder.
-
Indeed, I got it as visitor message... but I have just sent you a private message, the way I explained... I'm from mobile now, so can't make a screenshot...

Go to the profile of member you want to send PM to, then on "Activities" tab there is a "Private message" button.
Exporting Daily Ratings into Excel
in ELO Ratings Discussion

Thanks for feedback! Yes, it is possible, but what is criteria for a selection? I have updated the spreadsheet, available in the same link above; it now has two additional columns, for last 4 and last 2 matches. You enter desired value, i.e., range of ELO ratings in sheet "Settings", and if difference in ratings fits into those values, it suggests home, draw or away team.
Is that what you had in your mind?
