  1. Re: BBOTD - Thursday 15th December Sou 3.00 - Kishanda - win at 2/1 bog bet365 The favourite here is Priceless Art who looks good and has course form in bumpers and on the flat. I'm not sure that dropping back in trip will suit him as he looks a stayer So I'll take him on with the second favourite, Kishanda. He had a run out over hurdles at Donny last time and finished 3rd Prior to that he had run in a claimer over today's CD and finished half a length behind La estrella who is unbeatable in claiming company here. The third home that day has gone on to win 3 races on the bounce. A reproduction of that run should see him break his maiden

  2. Re: Treble bets to win

Fancy doing this sort of bet but is it worth doing? Or is it just to hard?
Why not 'suck it and see' ? Do a pretend treble every day for a month without laying out any cash and see if you manage to get 3 winners on any day Or just stick a quid on.............. in case one comes up ! My experience is that when I was a betting shop punter I did yankees. trebles, doubles, etc...........I had the occasional decent win but undoubtedly lost in the long term Since I've moved to internet betting a couple of years ago I've stuck to singles and haven't done any multiples...........and I'm well up (i don't know how to do multiples on the online site and I'm not going to learn how in case I fall back into old ways)
  3. Re: Jump Racing - Wed 14th

I actually think TFR is great value at 8/13. Sounds mad' date=' but only the fences stop him winning in my opinion.[/quote'] I read that Pasco was going to have the Nicholls 'wind op' over the summer How many times have we seen a Nicholls runner perform well above expectation only to be told after the event that it's had a wind op Well............now we know in advance, might be worth a bet ? Main problem is the trip - he wins at around 16/17 furlongs, don't know why they're starting him at 3 miles unless they think it was the wind problem that prevented him from staying further in the past Loves Newbury Have two concerns re Rupert All his best recent form seems to be at Cheltenham - does he need the ups and downs and the big hill to bring out his best And it's his 3rd race in about 6 weeks..........that's not much recovery time for a top chaser
  4. Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 13th Dec Sou 2.00 - Bianca de Medici - win at 6/4 bog bet365 Only 5 runners for the fillies handicap Three of them have no track experience. One is coming back from 18 months off The Post have gone for Dazakhee who's a dual CD winner but she's still 8lbs above last winning mark and is up in class. Happy to take that one on My selection acts on the track having finished 2nd and 3rd in two runs here. She has a 'getting closer' profile over the last 3 runs and comes out top on speed figs Her wins have been at 6/7 furlongs but I think she'll get the mile here in a small field and might just have too much pace in the finish for the others

  5. Re: The Jockey Thread

Gone down in my estimation big time' date=' the only good thing is that Matt Chapman made him look an idiot and showed him up to what he was.[/quote'] Must admit that when Matt was doing his piece I wasn't convinced I thought it might be the case that he was pushing at the horse to make sure he got out of the way of the field. He was looking over his right shoulder to see where the field was. The course looked very narrow at that point and if he was pulling up then getting out of the way would be a major factor Matt's second main point was that he looked over his left shoulder after leaving the chase course..........inferring that he was looking for any potential challenger. But actually there was a loose horse following behind him so he may have just been checking where that was. I assume he could hear it behind him And I thought he did stop riding as soon as he left the chase course But obviously the Stewards didn't believe the dentist............perhaps I'm a bit gullible............
  6. Re: BBOTD - Monday 12 December Wolv 4.15 - Admirable Duque - ew at 10/1 bog bet365 Unbeaten over this CD, 2-2, and has his first run over this trip here since his last win back in March Since then his mark has fallen and he runs off 5 lbs lower than his winning mark that day His form hasn't been great since then but there's been signs that he's gradually coming back despite running over either too far or too short Beaten 7 lengths last time over 12 furlongs at Lingfield which is too sharp a test for him In any case he's a 'popper up', in that he pops up and wins when he's not in great form as the last 4 winning SPs show - 14/1, 10/1, 10/1, 16/1 The yard doesn't seem to have many horses but their other AW popper up popped up and won a few days ago at 10/1 (Justcallmehandsome) Field sits at 8 runners now.............fingers crossed for no more NR ! I should have posted him last night when he was 16/1, or even 10 minutes ago when he was 12/1...................feels like I've missed the boat.

  7. Re: BBOTD Sunday 11th of December Sou 2.00 - Rio Grande - win at 5/2 bog Wm Hill This horse seems to have found his feet since joining Ann Duffield, finishing a close 2nd then winning in maiden company at Wolves Fornerly with Jeremy Noseda he went off favourite for an early Newmarket maiden then ran in a class 3 maiden at York as favourite Somebody obviously thought he was pretty good but he disappointed ! Ann Duffield has lowered his sights and his maiden win looks fairly solid with a 72 rated horse well beaten into 2nd and the rest nowhere He made all that day and those tactics would do very nicely here at Southwell Has no course form but Mrs Duffield has a decent strike rate here so hopefully she knows which horses will take to it. Can avoid the kickback by being at the front ! Adranian put up a good performance here a few days ago behind my BBotD, Whisky Bravo, but he's tended to get beaten in handicaps and has done all his winning in claiming and selling company Same applies to Flying Pickets They're the three that should be involved - I'm hoping that my horse turns out to be a bit better than these.

  8. Re: Southwell(AW) USA System Great start !...........:ok re - the staying a bit further which we've discussed on another thread........ Notice that Follow the Flag won the 11 furlong race today. Previously he's run over 100 times and won 11 races, but he'd never won at further than 10f and he'd only won at 10f on good to firm ground. His last 3 wins have been at a mile ! Keep up the good work........:D

  9. Re: BBOTD Saturday 10th of December Wolv 6.50 - Ducal - win at 4/1 bog Paddy Power Improving 3yo Won his maiden here 2 runs ago and the form of that looks OK as the 2nd and 3rd both won next time out Then ran in a handicap over this CD and finished 2nd by a half length to another improving 3 year old - the pair of them 6 lengths clear of the third has never been unplaced here in 3 runs

  10. Re: BBOTD Friday 9th December Sou 12.15 - Whisky Bravo - win at 11/10 Laddies I opposed this one when it ran here 3 days ago in a five furlong nursery on the basis that i thought it might need 6 furlongs now It scooted up that day and duly steps up to 6 furlongs now Unbeaten at the track, 2-2, and obviously in good nick - I can see this going off as an odds on shot so anything odds against looks a good bet Only 5 runners The second favourite is Adranian who's been in good form in sellers and claimers at Wolves but has been beaten in handicaps off this mark and has no track experience Sonsie Lass is a CD winner but is up in class today and has been beating Mount Mcleod which doesn't take much doing. Front runner - could be dangerous if allowed an easy time I'm a bit worried about Bartley who's currently 14/1 and I ummed and aahed over wether to take a chance on him as my selection. He drops in class, has won on good to soft and comes from a Smart stable. Lack of course form put me off

  11. Re: Jump racing ~ Friday 9th December I'm not overly keen on those circus races at Cheltenham but there's something interesting in the 2.20 I've noticed that Nina carberry is not riding Garde Champetre who she usually rides in these events and instead has got on another one from the stable who was beaten over 100 lengths by Scotsirish last time out I wonder if that signifies that the old Champ is now in decline - after all he's failed to win in his last 4 runs here after looking unbeatable prior to that Scotsirish won a similar event in Ireland last time but that wasn't a handicap and he had 20 lbs and more in hand of his rivals and was an odds on shot. This should be much tougher to win and the ground is a bit of an unknown as is the trip I can't see any reason to oppose Uncle Junior who won the event at the recent Open Meeting - he obviously handled the course and the firm ground That was only a month ago but he seems to have no problem in coming out again quickly and has won off 3/4 week breaks in the past Chelt 2.20 - Uncle Junior - win at 3/1 (generally available)

  12. Re: How to select 1 race to concentrate on! In the last few years I've had a change of mind about 'getting to know the horses' In the past I was always looking for a small subset of the game to concentrate on and really get to know a group of horses. So I stuck with 3 mile chases, then group races, then sprint handicaps, then something else, then something else.............. It never worked for me I just found that ideas about the particular horses became lodged in my mind and blurred my vision of the race i was looking at. Plus i spent all my time keeping records about the horses and not studying todays race I've given up on that now..........I pick races as outlined above regardless of wether I've ever heard of any of the horses. I flit around the distances, classes, race types. I try and look at each race i study as a seperate event from scratch without any preconceived ideas about the horses I suppose I like to look at the race - the track, class, distance, going etc, think about 'what kind of horse might win this' then look at the runners to see if any of them fit the bill I don't go for 'Horses To Follow' or the Nag Me type of things because if a horse is running in a race that I'm not going to pick then I'm not interested. That seems to me like letting the horse pick the race that you bet on Different strokes and all that..............:ok I'm rambling on here because I'm stuggling to find anything for tomorrow...............:rollin

  13. Re: How to select 1 race to concentrate on! Just having a first look at tomorrow's cards using my normal selection proceedure I'll probably start with the 12.50 at Southwell - 7 runner class 5 handicap Nothing else at Southwell appeals, nothing at Wolves but the last race, 12 runners class 4 might be my back up tho it will involve a couple of hours probably..............:p Skip Donny, it's not a track I've got much of an angle on - that brings me to another selection point. I try and stick to tracks that have something of a character to them as I reckon I can use that to whittle out runners that might not act there. Look at the 1.45 Chelt, 6 runner grade 3 handicap chase and a quick look at the 4 runner novice chase at 12.00 to see if i think the favourite might get beat Moving to the Post site there are early prices for the 12.50 Southwell but a very short price favourite, I'll only continue with that one if I think the favourite might get beat Early prices on the 1.45 Cheltenham - looks a good race to look at as no short price favourite early prices on the 12.00 Cheltenham - again look to see if the fave might not win If i can't find anything in those 3 I'll either have a day off (tempting !) or burn the midnight oil on the last at Wolves.

  14. Re: How to select 1 race to concentrate on! Good topic !..........I'm sure we all have our own methods ! I always start with the Sporting Life 'Todays racecards' or more usually 'Tomorrow's racecards' as I do my study the night before I use the Life site because it shows the number of runners in each race which the Post doesn't I note any small field handicaps say up to about 7 runners max and class 5 or better I then go to the Post site and look at those races. I begin to reduce the number further by crossing off any races with no early prices (I can't study a race without having prices) I generally cross off any races where i think the favourite will win Then I study any races left but not more than 2 races If nothing fits the bill I'll turn to a more competitive or bigger field handicap on the AW and look at just the one race I'd rather study two five runner races than one 10 runner race..........it takes the same time but you give yourself 2 chances of finding a winner I also like to look at any 'big races', ie grade or group races but I rarely go on to study them for bet purposes. If it's a small field and what i consider a false favourite I'll take more of an interest So i suppose that what I start with is field size............that's my first step
