  1. Re: The Breeders Cup - USA I don't like this US coverage..........it's all human interest back-stories that are not interesting enough to me It's like the X-Factor or the BBC coverage of the Grand National - :loon And last night's and the early racing today has not been very good - hardly any European horses and that ugly dirt track Oh well - the meeting proper starts now and lasts for 4 races !............:clap

Huge plunge on Percythepinto 1.40 at Southwell 20/1 into 7/2 Fav :unsure
Obviously this is after the event, but........... I had a look at the horse after reading the thread and i just couldn't see it at all. This horse has got 'stayer' written all over him Sire progeny av winning distance - 11.1 furlongs Damsire Progeny AWD - 12.2 furlongs Dropping back in trip after being outpaced over 8 furlongs Look at kemp 28/09 - rowed along from rear, passed weakening rivals, never involved. Today - midfield, headway 2 out, ridden, chased leading pair This is a horse who's running on over trips that are far too short ! It'd be good to remember him when he cruises in over 12/14 furlongs next year and to resurrect this thread !..............:loon............probably 'after the event' of course !.............:unsure
  4. Re: BBOTD Friday 4th of November Wolv 8.15 - Art Scholar - win at 9/2 bog Boylesports This is a fascinating horse Less than a year ago he was running in a class 2 handicap off a mark of 90. He then had a shocking 6 months during which he fell down the weights until he managed to win a class 6 off 49 in June Since then he's won 5 and is back up to 79 Snakes and ladders ! His last win was over this CD last time out, it was his first run over 12 furlongs and appeared to be a step up on his recent wins. So it looks like he's still on his way back up the rankings

  5. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 2nd of November Nott 3.05 - Smart Step - win at 9/4 bog PP Improving handicapper from the Johnston yard, has won 3 handicaps over the last couple of months, all on soft ground Up another 6 lbs today but this doesn't look a very good race with several out of form and others who might not handle the going Good chance of a hat-trick

  6. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 1st of November :welcome..........wistful I'm giving the Aussie race a miss........... Kemp 6.00 - Sasheen - win at 9/1 BOG Paddy power This horse is a capable front runner who's chance largely seems to depend on wether she gets hassled up front. Looking through the runners today it appears that she could well get an uncontested lead in this race which is full of hold up and slowly away types She's a CD winner and has a lowish draw in stall 5

  7. Re: Best Bet Of The Day Tables ~ October Cheers guys...........and thanks to BH as always ! Well, I was meant to be having a month off or at least a 'light' month to get refreshed for the AW season......... I probably did post a few less selections than usual but once i was in contention I had to carry on !..............:lol Hard luck corky, it was nip and tuck all the way...........:ok

  8. Re: BBOTD 31th of October Kemp 3.45 - Captain Dash - win at 7/1 Stan James I think it might be worth taking on the short price fave here, Iheardu. He won recently at Cheltenham but looks a thorough stayer and this slightly shorter trip on a flat track might not suit him Captain Dash has won his last 2 runs. Last time out was a weak 3 runner affair. The Post are saying that he struggled to win but I've watched the race and it looked pretty straightforward. That was over hurdles. He won his last chase by 5 lengths and the second and third have won since. Steps up in trip and might have too much finishing speed for the fave Main concern is his jumping as he fell over both fences and hurdles on his last 2 runs in Ireland and he'll have to jump well here as the fences are pretty stiff

  9. Re: Best Bet Of The Day Tables ~ October

Hi BH I had Kellystown Lad E/W at Carlisle. He was 3rd.. That count, did it not?? :unsure
No, it was only a 6 runner race In races of 7 or fewer runners only 1st and 2nd count for EW place bets BH has listed the accepted EW terms in the first post in this thread Unlucky though ! 50/1 shot............
  10. Re: BBOTD - Saturday 29th October Weth 2.45 - fair along - win at 11/2 BOG bet365 Has won this race for the last 2 years and is bound to be ready for this as it appears to be his Cup Final of the market leaders Carlito Brigante ran a stinker on the all weather and was reported as 'clinically abnormal' after the race, which was only 3 weeks ago. You'd doubt they would want to be pushing him today, more of a suck it and see outing ? What a friend is a chaser and presumably having a pipe-opener Restless harry has needed a run on his seasonal debuts to daye Ashkazar looks better in handicaps Fair Along has won first time out, acts on good and good to soft and clearly like the track and gets the trip

  11. Re: BBOTD Friday 28th of October Newm 4.45 - Parc de launy - win at 11/4 bog VC One of those rare end of season sprints where the 2 year olds take on older horses and in this case the two year olds usually win with the big WFA allowance Parc de launy is the top rated of the 2yo in the field. He won his first two starts then was well beaten in a group race and a big sales race Had nearly two months off and came back with a decent effort in a fairly hot York nursery, beaten a couple of lengths after getting squeezed for room in a big field Spencer should be able to hold him up here and have plenty of room to make a run

  12. Re: List of racing links Came across this site whilst looking for something else......... http://www.puntersverdict.co.uk/Home.php It appears to be a sort of one man 'Private Eye' dedicated to revealing the 'truth' about betting, tipsters and bookies............ It appears there's a free sign up to get his articles as published but if you click on 'Latest Cases' all the previous issues are there ! I've read a couple of the articles - very entertaining .............:D

  13. Re: BBOTD 27Th Of October

Don't know about anyone else but I'm done with betting on the flat till next year. Think its extremely tough now and form is not holding up. Take Medal of Valour at Lingfield - I didn't back him but on all known form he should have been right in the mix but he ran a stinker. Same story yesterday when I backed Ampleforth and he's still running. Plus I just noticed that on BOTD this month I've had a terrible run with my flat selections but the 3 jumper I put up all won. Pity I didn't notice this earlier.
I think all my jumps picks have won this month as well, about 6 of them I don't normally look at the jumps but I just got fed up of looking at the flat cards and seeing race after race of 15 to 20 runners and having no enthusiasm to spend hours studying them all...............:loon I think in future I'll definately move away from the flat for maybe mid-September onwards apart from the big races. For the everyday fare around the gaffs I reckon it's a punters nightmare....
  14. Re: Mongan lays into Lingfield From watching on telly it does appear that the horses are going into the surface more than they usually would here.........there seems to be a level of kickback that i would normally associate with Wolves. be interesting when i do my speed figs later........see if it's riding particularly slow or maybe it's something else that's causing the riders anger.......he didn't really clarify what the problem was

  15. Just seen an interview with the jockey Ian Mongan (good jockey !) in which he said that the state of the track at Lingfield is appalling and he would advise any owners or trainers to think again if they were planning to run horses there over the winter ! I think this might cause a bit of a rumpus ! :loon

  16. Re: BBOTD 27Th Of October Strat 4.20 - Five Star Wilsham - win at 11/8 bog wm hill This looks like a 2 horse race on paper and I'm going to take on the current odds on favourite with the second favourite Sybarite is the favourite for the Twiston-Davies camp. He could well be a classy type and he's higher rated than my selection. He ran in Grade 1 and 2 races last year. My doubt is the trip - his only win was at 16 furlongs and he just seemed not to be getting home in longer races, albeit in better company. He's making his seasonal debut which isn't a problem with the T-D yard, but if he's not quite 100% I think he might struggle with the trip My selection gets the trip no problem and has more experience than the fave, having spent last season running in the big class 2 handicap hurdles. He runs ok fresh and the yard are in form with their last 2 runners having won Both horses make their chase debuts which adds a nice tinge of uncertainty.............:loon
