  1. Re: 2yo Racing For 2012

Firstly' date=' I would like to thank you Trotter because many moons ago you commented about my blog ..........[/quote'] Yes, I knew someone on another forum (general, not racing) who knew you, could it have been a brother ? He pointed out the site to me........I had a look round and stuck the link up in the Links thread. Haystacks, thanks for the link to B2YOR............I hadn't looked at that site for ages as it appeared to have gone a bit moribund. Since i had a dozen years away from the sport these are the first lot of first season sires I remember as racehorses since I came back..........:ok
  2. Re: Best Bet Of The Day Tables ~ January 2012 BH........I noticed something on the list of monthly winners up above Super Nap Jan 2009~ Dec 2010. BOG from Jan 2011 Didn't we only do Super Nap for one year ? From memory shouldn't that be Super Nap - Jan 2009 to Dec 2009 And hasn't BOG been in for 2 years now ?, ie from Jan 2010 It was definitely BOG in the summer of 2010 when I had that really big price winner ! Hope you don't mind me pointing this out...........:loon

  3. Re: Help please : where to find details of future races If you're interested in the top end races you can get Pattern and Listed race Books for the Flat and Jumps.......... http://www.bha.org/resources/media/publications_and_reports/pattern_and_listed_race_books.asp Each one covers a whole season Current Jumps season one is £ 5.95 Doesn't look like the 2012 Flat one is out yet You can also download for free the previous years edition

  4. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 3rd January Sou 1.55 - On The Cusp - win at 11/8 BOG VC Won his last 2 races over this CD and beat Minortransgression by 4 lengths last time. Can't see any reason why the penalty will stop him beating that one again even with a big turn round in the weights He should be able to get to the front in a small field (wide draw !) and make all as he did last time The Lock Master could be a danger but he's been running over longer trips for about 10 runs and that might have blunted his speed I think the biggest danger is my horse's inconsistancy - he's quite capable of following a couple of good runs with a shocker for no apparent reason, so I don't think he's a cert !

  5. Re: BBOTD - Jan 2nd 2012 Sou 1.50 - Il Battista - win at 9/2 bog Wm Hill Only 7 runners here and 4 of them have no course form Going through the race the only one i confidently dismissed was Tewin Wood (watch him win !). I think all the others have a chance but I'll take on the ones with no course form Il Battista has won over CD, is in good form, and has won in this grade. Won last time over 8F but is equally effective, if not better, at todays 7F MJ hartley goes well here and is consistant but hasn't won a handicap and appears stuck on a mark that's just beyond him Global Village will probably go off as favourite after 2 wins here over 6F. He's got plenty of wins at 7F on polytrack and is clearly in good nick. His last win was against a few soft types who don't take a lot of beating and this is tougher. He's up in class and has now gone back above his career high winning mark. He's the most likely winner on current form but at the relative odds I'll go with Il Battista

  6. Re: BBOTD - Jan 1st 2012

In the real world - the only thing stopping me backing this horse is the change of stable for which I cannot find a reason.
Scott Dixon is the son of the guy (Paul Dixon) who owns most of these all weather sprinters, either in his own name or in partnerships They've set up a sort of 'satellite yard' near Southwell for Dandy Nicholls team of all weather sprinters owned by the Dixons I suppose the idea is that the main yard in Yorkshire can wind down a bit over the winter to save costs
  7. Re: Flat Racing 1st Jan I haven't had a bet for a few weeks and to brush the cobwebs away I'm doing my first 'multiple' for a couple of years !............:loon All at Southwell, all with Stan James 1.20 - Even Stevens - 3/1 - terrific CD form, has the draw to overcome as well as the top Southwell 5F horses in this class 3 race. Has beaten Monsieur Jamie several times and Six Wives is up in class. Should be a terrific race 1.55 - Jasmeno - 10/3 - drops back in trip today which should see an inproved performance. First run on fibresand but Hughie Morrison is one ofthe top trainers here and knows which horses will be suited. Steve Drowne gets the ride and he's ridden the horse every time it's won. 3.05 - Man of My Word - 6/4 - Sluiced up over CD last time and can make all again in this small field. This looks a worse race than the one he won 3.35 - Mataajir - 15/8 - In terrific form. Unbeaten since handicapping and should be well suited by the extra furlong. Has won on the track Yankee :hope

  8. Re: BBOTD - Jan 1st 2012 Sou 3.05 - Man Of My word - win at 11/8 BOG Bet365 Sluiced up over this CD last time when dropped in trip (beating my BBotD !) Made all that day and can do the same again in this small field Has a 6lb penalty to carry but the opposition today looks weak and he should have too much speed in the finish for his main rivals, both of which look like they need further

  9. Re: Best Bet Of The Day Tables ~ December 2011 Thanks guys............needless to say, I'm well chuffed to win the trophy again !.........:nana Hard luck to mileni who had a cracking year to finish over 100 up !.......:clap Terrific effort from everyone for the thread to finish in profit after thousands of bets Thanks again to BH for his dedication and hard work to keep all the comps going smoothly..............:clap On to 2012............hope everyone has a great year. We all start again from zero tomorrow.............:rollin

  10. Re: BBOTD 31TH OF DECEMBER Ling 2.45 - Novellan Lad - win at 7/2 bog PP This is the only decent race on the card at Lingers Novellan Lad looks well handicapped to win again - a pound below his last winning mark That win came in a class 2 handicap at Newbury in May since when he's struggled a bit off a higher mark Now down on a rating of 85 he can get into class 4 races and ran a cracker over this CD in a similar race to today last time - 2nd to Amitola who's a progressive type Just about comes top on the speed figs and gets Fallon aboard today The current fave is Triple Charm, a lightly raced 3yo from the Gosden yard who's won his last 2. He's up in class, up in the weights and the beaten horses from his last run have let the form down since. I reckon he's worth taking on ! With the Life, Post and Timeform all tipping Novellan Lad I'm sure his odds will shorten tomorrow and he'll probably go off favourite

  11. Re: BBOTD - Friday 30th December Oh b*gger............lost my post !...........:unsure Here's the quick version......... Ling 2.45 - Lockantanks - win at 3/1 bog VC Cracking mile handicap on the all weather Lockantanks has been in great form lately with 2 wins and an unlucky 2nd in his last 3 runs. Won last time by 2 lengths, drawing clear in the finish and the 6 lb penalty might not be enough to stop him, though it does mean he needs a career best again........... He's won over this CD before and in this class Daingers abound - Titan triumph ran really well last time in a hot looking race and is well handicapped after a quiet year. Wilfred Pickles usually goes well here and Mazanmorra won over CD last time

  12. Re: BBOTD - Thurs 29 December Sou 3.40 - Dancing Freddy - win at 5/1 bog wm hill Has been running consistantly over the last few runs and should have a good chance if he just runs the same race again as this looks a bit easier than his recent outings. Has been beaten 2 or 3 lengths by Evens stevens and Six Wives, two real 5F Southwell specialists. There doesn't appear to be anything of that calibre in todays race In truth he seems to be a bit one paced but that can win races here as it's a difficult track to quicken up on. The 5f winners here tend to be the ones who race prominantly and just keep going as others fade Luscivious is an old friend of mine and I've had some good wins on him. He's really well handicapped now and usually runs in higher grades than this, but he's lacked sparkle for a while. Has changed stable and if that perks him up he could win this in a canter, but I'd want to see some evidence that he's still up for it ! Has been well backed tonight and is currently favourite Rylee mooch finished a couple of lengths behind my selection last time and could come on for that run following a break. But he was slowly away from the stalls and if he does that again it's difficult to win here giving away lengths at the start. Luscivious has also been slowly away a few times this year. Don't really fancy any of the others Hope

  13. Re: BBOTD - 27th Dec Sou 12.10 - Whisky bravo - win at 13/8 bog bet365 Seems to have found his feet on the fibresand - won his maiden here back in August and has won his last 2 runs when returned to the dirt He's unbeaten, 3-3, here now. Up 5lbs and a claimer takes 5 off This race looks a little tougher than last time with more runners and 3 other last time out winners to contend with but he appears to be an improver A couple of the other recent winners have no course form and are probably worth taking on. MJ Woodward could be dangerous having won over 5f here but all his best runs have been at the minimum trip and he has the widest draw. Just hope i can get up early enough to watch it.................:unsure
