  1. Re: BBOTD > Tuesday 1st January 3.00 Wolv - Archie Stevens - win at Evs bog Bet365 Only 4 runners in this handicap and the likely favourite has plenty going for him He's the only one who's won over this trip and is a CD winner Won last time out in a four runner field by sitting off the pace and pouncing late and has a front runner here to sit behind, so it looks tactically straightforward Has the best speed figs

  2. Re: Best Bet Of The Day Tables ~ December 2012 Well done Stevet !...........:ok And Aidy..........fantastic year, huge improvement - keep up the good work ! :ok BH......you're the heart of the forum and I'm sure we're all really grateful for all the work you put in. I haven't seen any better racing comps anywhere on the net than here. I just wish you wouldn't keep winning the daily racing comp every month..................:lol Personally it's been a disappointing year after winning the overall for two years running - I've had a few breaks during the year and just never really got going. I got fed up of the daily grind of form study and not surprisingly without putting the work in i could never find the winners as I did before Oh well.............new year, new start, I'm going to give it a go again from tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to give the young bucks a run for their money................ :nana

  3. Re: Race In Focus - King George VI Chase - Kempton Racecourse - 26th December 2012 Just had my first look through the field and LONG RUN appears to be the only horse who'll both definitely get the trip and not fall over The Giant Bolster and Junior should both get the trip but are amongst several front runners who could cut each others throats and force jumping errors on what is an unforgiving track with stiff fences I think Cue Card is probably the classiest horse in the race and if he stays he should win but the jury is still out as to wether he will

  4. Re: Race In Focus - King George VI Chase - Kempton Racecourse - 26th December 2012

There are about 13 meetings of racing that declare on the 23rd December - as I presume Weatherbys and the racing press will have Xmas Eve and Day off. The normal process is that all flat races declared 2 days in advance (10 am in the morning) and jumps race 1 day in advance, although for some of the big jumps races, like the Paddypower Gold Cup/Hennessy etc, they declare 2 days in advance and the rest of the final cards are sorted the next day.
Cheers Fin.........so we'll get the final decs on Sunday Gives us plenty of time to pour over the form ! There's no UK racing for 3 days, Sun, Mon and Tue................:loon
  5. Re: Ascot Moving to RUK As I work from home it's well worth it for me..............I watch it pretty much every day I also tune in to ATR every day ATR scores on the pre-racing programming with racing news, a feature show every day like Hugh taylor or World racing, Irish Angle etc...........I also like Matt Chapman as a presenter, not everyone's cup of tea but I think he's great, I also like Boycie, Enzo, Hunty..........I'm easily pleased..........:p RUK scores on the actual coverage of a meeting with much much better pre and post race analysis, paddock shots, on course interviews with trainers, jockeys, owners etc...........they have also some good presenters and experts like Lydia, Lucky, Mellish, Cunninghaaaam...........oops, channeling the Fonz there I even like Rishi..................:loon

  6. Re: Ascot Moving to RUK I'm pleased in the sense that I think RUK are vastly superior to ATR in their racing coverage, but obviously it's a big blow for everyone who doesn't want to or can't afford to stump up for RUK One of my main gripes with ATR is that they cover too much racing so they're forever having split screens, no time between races for paddock or betting, no time after races to put the result on screen Paradoxically I might enjoy watching it more as they lose more and more tracks

  7. Re: Money Management & Staking Plans Rio, you appear to have replied to me but quoted someone else in regard to your 'choke point' remark Not quite sure what you mean - I haven't increased my stakes even though my betting bank has increased because I'm happy with my level stake f course it might just be that your point was aimed at Bowles

  8. Re: Money Management & Staking Plans I stick to level stakes - it saves a lot of thinking I suppose I ought to be considering increasing my usual stake as my bank has increased over the last 3 years or so when I've been doing pretty well, but my stake is the same as it was before. I guess it does come down to the individual and I've never been comfortable with big stakes, so I'm happy rumbling along with small bets and not worrying too much about the money aspects

  9. Re: Best Bet Of The Day Knockout Cup 1st Round ~ Deadline Saturday 2pm Good luck BB ! My selections - Sand 12.20 - Golden Hoof win at 11/10 Bluesquare Sand 1.55 - Captain Conan - win at 8/15 Bluesquare Sand 3.05 - Sprinter Sacre - win at 4/9 Bluesquare res Sand 3.40 - Golan Way win at 4/1 bet365 I'm trying the old 'hope to get 3 winners even if they're odds on'.....................:unsure

  10. Re: Race In Focus - Tingle Creek Chase - Sandown Racecourse - 8th December 2012 Difficult to pick any holes in Sprinter Sacre I seem to remember someone finding a weakness - it might have been on RUK's preview of the Jumps season - but I can't remember what it was I can't see anything looking at his form unless you take the view that any horse stepping up from novice company is vulnerable. But when you see that last season's novices have won all the big races so far this season - Silviniaco Conti, Al Ferof, Cue Card, Bobs Worth..........it doesn't seem to be a problem for this crop of novices which seems to be the best we've seen for years Unbackable at the odds so a race to watch...................:unsure

  11. Re: Creating Your Own Ratings

I intend on having a proper read of this at the weekend' date=' some of it looks straightforward and some of it looks a nightmare. If I can get my head round it I might rate something like 3m chasers only or something like that but then what if a 2m4f chaser goes up in distance, how do I factor that in for 3m races?[/quote'] That's not a problem with BH's method because he's measuring 'level of form' You'd just rate the 20F races that your horse had run in and give him a form rating As to wether he'll stay the extra distance you do the same as you do now...........look at breeding, siblings, run style etc
  12. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread I still think of the Paddy Power as the Mackeson................:unsure I don't have a problem with the Amlin chase as I don't remember it as a big race in my previous incarnation in racing, although I think it might have been a Door Latch race..........one of my old favourites. It's been the Amlin since i came back to racing 5 or 6 years ago
