  1. Re: Jumps Racing - Friday 8th March I don't know why it does that.........'indents' when you copy and paste ! Still...........since i posted that it's been raining pretty solidly but my horse has come in to 9/4 so obviously the general opinion is that he'll act OK on it............to be fair I think it's only if it turned 'heavy' that it would be a problem as he didn't get home up the hill last time on 'heavy'

  2. Re: Jumps Racing - Friday 8th March This is my BBotD which I posted last night..........

Sand 2.50 - Olympian Boy - win at 11/4 bog wm hill Has ran well over this Cd the last twice, finishing 2nd when just tiring in heavy ground, then winning last time on better ground Up in the weights for that win but this looks an easier race yard has had 3 wins and a 2nd from last 5 runners Fingers crossed the ground doesn't go against him ( it's been a bit drizzly all day in the London area and still is)

  4. Re: BBOTD Thursday 7th Sou 3.55 - On with The dance - win at 11/4 bog bet365 Going to take on the fave here, Aryal, who's finished 2nd three times in a row and just looks one paced. Theyre dropping him in trip, fitting the blinkers and presumably will try to make all but he's pretty stoutly bred and i don't think he'll be able to go fast enough to drop the field and he'll end up as a sitting duck in the last fiurlong. Fanning is up, which causes me some concern as he's probably the best front-running jockey on the AW circuit so if anyone can get this horse home it's probably him My selection improved quite a bit from first to second start, should appreciate an extra furlong today and the yard is in cracking form. He's well bred and hopefully will improve past the favourite

  5. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 6th Ling 2.30 - Quality Art - win at 3/1 bog bet365 Bit of a risky proposition as he hasn't won for a long time and has been sliding down the handicap but unable to take advantage Today represents his best chance for a long time as he's down another 2lbs which lets him in to a 0-65 class 6 for the first time - six months ago he was running in class 3 off about 20lbs higher His recent runs have been a bit more promising getting closer to the winner in five successive races They're sticking a hood on him for the first time - it doesn't appear that he's ever had any headgear before He's an out and out 5 furlong horse (todays trip) whereas every other horse in the race has 6f as their last winning distance As a general rule i don't think you're ever going to get rich backing horses that are in decline, but they all fall low enough to be competitive eventually, win one race, then go back up a few pounds and need another season to get back to an even lower mark that they can win off after continued decline I hope today my selection might just have reached a point where he can win..............

  6. Re: BBOTD Sunday March 3rd

One to look out for... given a very tender ride
my thought was 'finished like a train after the race was over'...........he was miles behind going to the last and nearly caught the 2nd on the line ! smashing looking horse though...............
  7. Re: BBOTD Sunday March 3rd 2.40 Leop - Pageboy - EW at 12/1 bog bet365 Finished 12L 3rd to Jezki two runs ago and floundered in heavy ground last time out Is a young horse, two years younger than any other runner here, and is lightly raced with just 10 career starts. Won a maiden and a novice hurdle last year and looked a promising sort. In a field of fairly exposed old timers he looks the potential improver

  8. Re: best bet of the day 2nd march Donc 2.20 - Toubab - win at 11/8 bog bet365 Top weight here and looks the best horse in the race Ran well for a long way last time on heavy ground before fading but should leave that form well behind now that the ground has turned Last time he had decent ground he finished 13 lengths second to Sprinter Sacre !

  9. Re: BBOTD - Friday the 1st of March... Wolv 5.40 - Turjuman - win at 9/2 bog PP The best policy here is to concentrate on the two last time out winners, who are also the only two CD winners in the field Sommersturm is favourite but he's been improving lately by stepping up in trip and he's back down a couple of furlongs today, as well as carrying the penalty which means he needs a lifetime best run at age nine. My horse is a 12F specialst with all 6 career wins at the trip. He's won off higher marks in the past and could be well in if his win last time signals a halt to his decline. He's recently joined a new trainer so maybe a change of scenery has done him good

  10. Re: Jump Racing Thursday 28th Feb

3:55 Thurles BRIGHT NEW DAWN ran behind champagne fever last time out in the Grade 1 Deloitte novice hurdle. It was a really good effort and it goes to show that progression is still very much on the cards. Showing two good placed efforts in grade 1s the last twice bright new dawn should take some beating today dropping down in grade before taking up grade 1 entries again at the Cheltenham Festival. Yard is in good form having a double yesterday. Best price this morning 11/8 boylesport' date=' paddy power.[/quote'] I had this as my BBotD today. It was a bit lucky to win as it went on to win the race then was caught and overtaken and was beaten when the leader fell at the last and hampered a couple of others that were just getting into the race Our horse just slipped up the inside and won I suppose we mainly remember the times that our horse falls at the last and we wuz robbed...........nice to know that we get the luck sometimes................ Edit............oh, just seen on the Post site that the leader of the race suffered a fatal fall at the last...........so perhaps in the grand scheme of things it's not such a 'lucky' day as i thought.
  11. Re: BBOTD Thursday 28th February Thurles 3.55 - Bright New dawn - win at 11/8 bog betvictor best race of the day, a grade 2 novice hurdle over 20 furlongs My selection has finished 2nd and 3rd in two grade one races on his last couple of outings and should be up to winning at this level Step up in trip should suit, going right handed is no problem and has won on soft ground Main danger is the Mullins-Walsh horse who has only run 3 times and won his maiden at this track

  12. Re: BBOTD - Monday 25th of February Kemp 4.50 - Line of reason - win at 13/8 bog bet365 Only four runners here and the two outsiders have both been front runners before so it looks like they might take it each other on and leave it to the two market leaders to get a good tow and fight out the finish Poets Prospect is the current favourite but I fancy Line of reason might have too much speed if it comes to a srpint finish. PP has only run against fillies to date and might this tougher against the boys. Although she looked decent when winning a maiden last time and the 2nd has won since, the races she's run in were not very deep. My selection won a maiden first time out which has produced lots of subsequent winners and the form looks good. My main worry is on stamina with my selection being very sprint bred, I';m not sure that stepping up to 7F will suit ...........but in a 4 runner race with a couple of slowish pacemakers I'm hoping he'll get away with that

  13. Re: BBOTD - Saturday 23rd of February Kemp 2.40 - Grandioso - win at 2/1 bog Stan james Going to take on the favourite here . Molotof ran two weeks ago on heavy ground at warwick and won, but he's not had much recovery time and his record suggests he doesn't handle races in quick succession so I think he'll run below par Can't go far wrong looking at Nichols - Walsh runners in the big saturday races and Grandioso comes here on the back of a 37 length win in a handicap. he seems suited to going RH, acts on good ground and seems a decent jumper

  14. Re: BBOTD friday 22nd february Warw 3.50 - Escort'men - ew at 22/1 bog bet365 Won a grade 2 novice hurdle when with Paul nicholls but appears to have gone off the rails a bit in the last few years Ran his best race for a long time last time out here at Warwick in a decent handicap an it might be that stepping up from the minimum trip is what he needs. His previous best run, over a year ago, was also when they ran over two and a half miles. It begins to look as though he keeps running over the wrong trip at 2 miles. His mark has been falling and he's now 19lbs below his hghest winning mark. If stepping up in trip is what he needs, then he could be very well handicapped !

  15. Re: BBOTD tuesday 19th february Taunton 3.40 - Oscar Nominee - win at 5/1 bog betvictor Quite a competitive handicap hurdle but Henderson's runner has some good form in the book He was beaten 2 necks in a handicap at the Festival last year. Before that he'd won a novice race beating a horse won his next 4. he was also narrowly beaten by Cinders and ashes the time before He hasn't run since the Festival last march but did win off an 8 month break last season. He probably wants further than todays trip but the heavy ground might compensate for the shorter trip.

  16. Re: BBOTD sunday 17th february 3.00 MR - Groomed - win at 5/1 bog bet365 Had a run out in one of those Bumper for Jumpers races last time finishing 4th behind a couple of Nicholls horses but prior to that had won on his chase debut, a small weak race at Fakenham That was his second run for the yard after putting up a decent performance in a Wetherby hcap hurdle on his stable debut Beaten 3.5L off 114 there suggests that his opening mark for handicap chasing of 112 is well within his reach He was quite a decent Flat horse in 2011, winning a Sandown hcap off 79, so he's got flat speed, he's won on soft, he's won on a sharp and undulating track, he's won right-handed and the 3lb claimer who won on him at Fakenham gets back on

  17. Re: BBOTD Saturday 16TH FEB Ascot 3.50 - Cue Card - win at 11/4 bog bet365 Best race of the day but a bit of a horror as there's not much between at least 4 of them and any winner except the rank outsider wouldn't be a surprise Cue card drops back in trip after failing to stay last time. He also didn't appear to like being held up to get the trip and made some clangers at the early fences Hopefully back to the usual tactics today of letting him bowl along in front, in which case he's a formidable chaser. His win at Exeter early this season was a top class run and proved he's OK right-handed, which had been a doubt Acts on the going Captain Chris looks the obvious danger but he had a very hard race at Kempton, if he's recovered he'll be a worthy favourite Finians Rainbow is the Champion chaser and might be better at 16F in top company. Somersby is a bit of a law unto himself but loves it at Ascot and won a grade 1 here last time Very competitive race but I'll take Cue card to put them to the sword from the front !

  18. Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 12th Feb 2013 Sou 2.10 - Ifan - win at 11/8 bog wm hill Has his first run for a new yard today and can get off the mark in a small field maiden Up in trip to a mile which looks a good move, his market rival is a front runner who's been fading in the finish, so hopefully my horse can sit on his tail and whoosh past him in the straight My bfellow has the two best speed figs and should have too much pace for these in the finish
