  1. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 15th Jan ffos 2.10 - lord tomnoddy - win at Evs bog bet365 Only 3 runners here in the novice chase and lord Tomnoddy has the highest rating of the 3 over hurdles and has won over fences. He's 11 but has only had 9 career runs so he could still be on the upgrade Didn't seem to get 4 miles last time and now drops back to 3 miles over which he won at Ascot 2 runs ago. Acts on soft.

  2. Re: BBOTD Monday 14th January Plump 2.10 - Beware Chalk Pit - win at 13/8 bog bet365 Has been in good nick since coming back from his summer break with 2 seconds and a win last time out Was formerly inconsistant but has had the wind op which often brings about some improvement Has won twice over this CD, both times on soft ground and has won off todays mark before Although it's only a small field there is a front runner that he can sit in behind as usualy tracks the leaders.

  3. Re: Race Outcome I think the OP is looking at a previous race on the horses form page rather than a full race result In the former it just gives distance behind winner In the latter it gives distance behind the horse that finished immediately in front of it

  4. Re: Flat Racing Wednesday 9th January Bayleyf fell out of the stalls, gave everything else a 4 length start, ran at the back of the field and finished last God only knows why i thought it might win - only consolation is that my instinct was right about the drift in the market and I avoided backing it and putting it in BBotD I'll count that as one over the old enemy.............:lol

  5. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 9th January Kemp 4.40 - Whitby Jet - win at 2/1 bog PP Looking for a double after winning over CD last time Beat Having a Ball that day and should confirm placings on worse terms as that one looks better over shorter. Most of the others just look out of form. Purple n Gold will have his supporters but he;s only run in one handicap and got well beat - he usually runs in claimers and sellers

  6. Re: Flat Racing Wednesday 9th January I was just typing up Bayleyf in the 2.00 at Lingers for BBotD - well handicapped, eye catching run lto - but it was drifting whilst I was typing.............even with 2 non runners it's much bigger odds now than it was this morning So I chickened out and aborted the post I know people always say if you fancy something and it drifts you should get more on ! Geez, I hope it doesn't win...................:lol

  7. Re: The Trainers Thread There's loads of trainers stats all over the place but during the last couple of AW seasons I've started to compile some stats of my own that weren't readily available...........I maintained a list of every trainer who had a winner on the AW and by their name I wrote in the 'days since last run' of each of their winners.............the idea being to see which trainers brought back horses to win after a break and which ones had winners brought to fitness with recent runs Well, like a lot of things i gradually got fed up and stopped updating...............and now it's all gone because it was on my previous laptop and not backed up................:unsure. So I was pleasantly surprised to see a new feature on the revamped Sporting Life site which I now hardly ever use 'cos I can't get proper racecards on it................but if you click on a trainer and bring up the Trainer's page you can filter his runners for the last month or so by '60 days' and it'll just list all his runners that has been off the track for 60 days or more and you can see if any of them won, ran well or if they all got beat - gives you some insight into the trainers methods This is not as good as my records that I used to have but it's better than nothing !

  8. Re: Flat Racing 6th Jan It's not a race I looked at but I've checked out Khawatim and I can see why it was well backed........... Started the season running in class 2 and class 3 races. It's mark had dropped 24 lbs Started the AW with 3 runs over 5 furlongs - all it's wins have been at 6F and it was running on in those shorter races prior to winning it had been getting closer in 3 successive races, beaten 9L, 6L, 3L - it was getting nearer ! Down another 4 lbs, slightly easier race, back to 6F

  9. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January Wolv 3.55 - Cosmic Halo - win at 10/3 bog PP Lightly raced type from the Fahey yard Ran well over CD last time to finish 3rd, only beaten 3/4L - the first 2 have both won since so the form looks solid and he evidently acts over this CD Todays race looks slightly easier and he probably only has to repeat his last run to win The current fave is a hurdler, Bradbury, having his first run for the McCain yard. He's a decent enough horse but you expect this might be a prep for going over the sticks and wonder how hard he'll be pushed...........:unsure. This looks a bit on the sharp side for him anyway as his last few runs on the flat have been at 16F plus (12f today)

  10. Re: BBOTD Monday 7th May Kemp 3.00 - Dark Lane - win at 11/4 bog bet365 I'm taking on the favourite here with a horse who has run against him twice recently and finished ahead of him both times The fave, Beat The Bell, is better off at the weights today and purely on the book should reverse recent placings but my selection has a better course record here and has a better draw. I'll take Dark Lane to beat him again despite the turnaround in the weights

  11. Re: BBOTD - Sunday 6th Jan 2013 Wolv 2.15 - Dakota canyon - win 5/2 bog wm hill Lightly raced horse with just 5 career starts Put up his best performance since going handicapped last time out over this CD. finishing a close 2nd Drops in class now for his first run at class 5 level, has an inside draw and the Fahey team are in decent nick (as they usually are !) Market rival is Lean on Pete who's in good form, a CD winner and should go well - he's been busy and ran poorly last time so it might be that the racing and the handicapper have now caught up with him ?

  12. Re: BBOTD Saturday 5th Ling 12.50 - Modern Lady - win at 6/1 bog wm hill Only 4 runners here but two of them, Pixillated and Golden Flower, are consistant fron runners who might take each othder on and ruin both their chances Modern Lady is a tracker who can sit behind and run on when they tire - she's a consistant filly having finished in the first 3 on her last 6 runs and was only beaten a short head last time she ran over this CD As a bonus she beat the remaining horse, Laylas oasis, last time out and that one is now shorter odds today In fact my horse is drifting like a barge which is a bit off-putting..............

  13. Re: Memorable Races I can't think of a better performance in a top class race than Arazi in the Breeders Cup Juvenile..........it's astonishing and the shock of the commentator when he 'finally' notices Arazi cutting the field is terrific He was the only European challenger and looked to be out of the race after a couple of furlongs Arazi was at the back of the field and on a wide shot you see that he's moved past about 3 horses, then fortunately the cameraman appears to pick him up and follow him through before the commentator notices.............

  14. Re: BBOTD Friday 4th Wolv 1.30 - Alazan - win at 7/2 skybet Versatile horse who runs over hurdles, fences and on the flat Has recently had his first 2 runs on the all weather and finished 1st and 2nd - takes a slight drop in class today having been beaten under a length over this CD last time and runs off the same mark Probably fave is De Rigeur who won over CD last time and obviously has a good chance but he's up 8lbs in a better race

  15. Re: BBOTD - Thursday 3rd Jan 2013 Ayr 2.00 - Radharc na mara - win at 13/2 bog PP makes the trip over from Ireland for his 2nd start of the season Acts on heavy and is best at around todays trip, mark doesn't look beyond based on some of last years form Jumped left last time on a RH track so might be better here at Ayr

  16. Re: BBOTD - Thursday 3rd Jan 2013 Ling 2.20 - Cayuga - win at 3/1 bog bet365 Finished 2nd over this CD on return from a break recently Has gone up a bit in the weights and is now 11lbs higher than his last winning mark but is lightly raced and might come on a bit from the last run (went up another 3lbs) His main market rival is Ajeeb who finished just behind him last time and is now 2lbs better off. However he was race fit that day and is more ecposed than my selection having failed to win in 6 handicaps whilst slowly rising up the weights Ajeeb has a good chance but I'm banking on my horse being more progressive and able to confirm placings on the worse terms because he's improving

  17. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 2nd Ling 2.00 - Staffhoss - win at 5/6 bog betvictor For the 2nd day running I'm going for a short price favourite in a 4 runner handicap Staffhoss has been steadily improving with each run and won his maiden over this CD followed by a decent first run in handicap company, finishing 2nd He's a front runner from the Johnston yard with Fanning up - I fully expect that he's going to try and make all today. Already looks as though he ideally wants further than 7F but if Fanning gets the fractions right he can burn them off from the front
