  1. 1.40 Chep - Gonnabegood - ew at 33/1 bog betvictor

    Novice hurdle

Looking for a potential improver who might outrun his odds

My selection has his second start. On debut he finished 3rd but was well beaten, 42L, having been held up at the back and making late headway but no danger to front two. The Post reported that he looked raw but should come on a lot for the experience

With the short priced favourite carrying a double penalty and the second favourite an iffy stayer there might be a chance for some of the longer priced ones to get in the mix

  2. I'm leaning towards old Sire de Grugy - loves Sandown, everything right for him, good run last time

Un de Sceaux........has fallen on last 2 seasonal debuts, might need the run

Ar Mad - back from serious injury, might need run, might not want to push him

God's Own - has a good chance, everything right for him, but usually finds one too good ?

Vibrato Valtat - could go well at big odds but has found winning difficult since leaving novice company

    Sir Valentino - no chance

Ar Mad is drifting in the betting which suggests he'll need the run. God's Own has shortened since yesterday

Looking in the crystal ball.......Ar Mad and Un de Sceaux pull their way to the front and take each on, Un de Sceaux falls at the railway fences, Ar Mad leads until the turn in when he tires, Sir Valentino is already miles behind. Vibrato ranges up alongside in the home straight but flatters to deceive and finds no more.......Gods Own and Sire de Grugy fight it out from 2 out with the old hero getting his head in front. Crowd goes wild

  3. Sand 1.15 - Buckle Street - ew at 25/1 bog wm hill

    Juvenile hurdle

Not a lot of hurdle form to go on with most of these making their hurdling debuts and coming from flat racing backgrounds

Going for one who's fit from the flat and ran OK last time to be 2nd in a 2 mile handicap on the AW.........blocked in as the race took off but finished well

Only has a flat rating in the 60s but might do better over sticks as he appears to stay well but has some flat speed

  4. 1.05 Leic - Braw Angus - ew at 50/1 bog wm hill

    Novice hurdle

Looking for an EW shot that might outrun it's odds (and probably finish 4th !.......:loon)

My selection has his 2nd start and ran OK at Huntingdon although beaten 20 lengths at the finish. He made a bit of progress mid-race until a mistake and faded. Hopefully he'll come on for the run as that was his racecourse debut

The Post reports that it looked a fair maiden hurdle and a 122 rated horse finished 4th

Comes from the Kim Bailey yard

  5. Ffos 1.20 - Tower of Allen - ew at 14/1 bog wm hill

    Maiden hurdle

Taking a chance on a Henderson runner here who hasn't shown much as yet but who the trainer insists is much better than his performances to date

to be fair this is probably easier than his last two runs at Kempton and Newbury where he was brought down and well beaten in 2nd respectively

He went off fairly short odds both times though and you've got to suspect that there is some talent there !

  6. Sou 1.25 - Toviere - win at 10/3 bog wm hill

    Novice hurdle

My selection has had a run this season, finishing second at Stratford. The winner has gone on to win a class 2 handicap at Haydock off 126. The Post were quite taken with him saying he was a classy looking individual with a nice pedigree

The other ones near the front of the market are all making their seasonal debuts and my horse might have a fitness edge

  7. Plu 12.55 - Ermyn's Emerald - EW at 66/1 bog betvictor

    Novice hurdle

Looking for an EW shot who might run better than his odds (not for the first time this month my 50/1 shot yesterday finished 4th !.....:@)

My selection ran over this CD last time on his hurdles debut. It was a dramatic race with half the field falling at the 2nd flight. My horse was hampered and got behind but finished with a flourish to be beaten 12 lengths.

With that race under his belt I hope he can stay in touch today and use his finishing speed when it matters not when the race is over !

1.10 Lud - Coillte Lass - win at 4/5 bog wm hill

    Novice hurdle

Only 3 runners turn up for the Mares novice hurdle

My selection carries a penalty for winning a similar race last time but we know she gets the trip and should stay further. Comes from the Nicholls yard and has a few pounds in hand on RPR figures despite the penalty

Will probably try and make all which should be good tactics in a small field

Second favourite Alizee Javelix was a good bumper horse but has been a bit disappointing over sticks, beaten twice at short odds

    Hi BH

if it's OK I'm going to dump this selection as there has already been a non runner leaving only 2........I don't fancy that and a rule 4 !

    I'll post another selection

  10. 2.05 Leic - Cobolobo - ew at 50/1 bog wm hill

    Novice hurdle

Jonjo O'Neill has the favourite here but I'm tempted by his second string at big odds

He's having his second outing and Jonjo's horses usually come on a bundle for a run........first time up he was beaten 28L in 7th but had shown some promise being held up at the back then making headway to be in touch before tiring 2 out

  11. Newc 12.05 - Minella Suite - ew at 20/1 bog wm hill

Maiden hurdle - 2 miles, soft ground

Looking outside the top few in the market for a potential improver

My selection had some decent form in points. Was well beaten into 7th on rules debut a few weeks ago but was noted making significant headway before fading. Hopefully will now strip fitter and be able to run to the line without tiring

I've noticed the Jumps names and Minella is a name that keeps churning out winners !

  12. Newb 12.30 - Hidden Cargo - ew at 20/1 bog betvictor

    Maiden hurdle

Some good horses have won this race and with most of the top yards (except Nicholls) represented it could throw up a few winners. The first 3 in the market are all making their seasonal debuts.

Looking for an EW shot I'm going for one that's had a recent run and shown promise. He finished 3rd in a bumper here three weeks ago but did go off favourite. Was a bit keen and one paced at the finish. Todays softer ground might suit as he looks to have stamina and hopefully with the run under his belt he might come on and improve.

  13. 12.45 Taunton - Peppay Le Pugh - EW at 25/1 bog betvictor

    Novice hurdle

Looking for an EW shot that might be better than his odds

My selection was placed in a couple of bumpers with the Henderson yard and showed some promise on hurdles debut last time for his new stable

The fact that Henderson got rid probably indicates that he's not that good........they obviously wanted the space in the yard for something a bit better !

However he was hampered at the first on debut then ran very keen, still managed to make steady headway until getting outpaced and pulling up

Hopefully he'll come on the for the run

  14. 1.10 Heref - Doesyourdogbite - EW at 14/1 bog wm hill

    Novice hurdle

My selection is the only one here running under a penalty. He won a 4 runner race at Donny where the first two favourites both fell so maybe that form is not as good as the 1 against his name suggests

However he won a couple of times on the flat in France on good to soft ground and appears to stay well

Jonjo's horses often come on for a run so he might improve again on that winning form

  15. 12.40 Sedge - Tiger Mountain - ew at 12/1 bog wm hill

    Novice hurdle

Difficult to fancy any of the big priced ones here but with one of the overnight favourites a non runner there's only one horse to be worried about in the shape of the odds on favourite so the places look up for grabs

My selection has his second run of the season and second run over sticks. Was beaten 28L last time but ran in snatches and was staying on again at the finish. Hopefully he will come on for that run and be thereabouts today

    Yard in tremendous form
