  1. I got ew money back off Stoney Mountain but he drifted to 33/1 like a stone just before the off which was frustrating as I only had him at 20s
  2. Well he finished 11th in the national the other year. He was travelling very well and was second but weakened towards the end and finished a respectable 11th. The shorter trip yesterday over those fences was much to his liking. Was he up against weaker opposition yesterday than he’s used to running against in Ireland? That’s the key I think . Yes see your point about backing ew for profit. Sir Jack Yeats returned 30 points yesterday for placing for a 20 points outlay. Think our ratings are not far off at all so we’ll get some winners in too. Just feel the Irish horses are under scored when rat
  3. Next year I think points have to be added to Irish horses. They are so well in when they come over here to the big festivals . The standard of racing and whole set up is a league above over there. Can’t see Britain turning the tables anytime soon. Look at Livelovelaugh yesterday, he murdered them and it’s been the same in the other big handicaps this year. See what happens in the national today.
  4. I’m playing the top 3 all ew Stoney Mountain 20/1 ew Unowhatimeanharry 25/1 ew Vision Des Flos 33/1 ew Last day to try and get a winner. The ratings have showed promise in some races. Dans Le Vent top rated finishing second at 18/1, was the closest a top rated came to winning . Others in the top 3-4 rated have gone close, with one winning, but was not backed. Cheltenham festival I just backed the top 3 rated in each handicap and it did quite well, but I’ve not done that the first two days of Aintree. I’m doing the top 2-3 today though so hopefully land on one or
  5. Ramses a non runner. Happygolucky 7/2 win Snow Leopardess 10/1 ew
  6. I prefer the Cheltenham festival, but is there any race that captures the imagination of a nation like The Grand National? When I was a kid no one was into betting or horses in the household ,although my mum worked in an independent bookies for years . Even still, we all had a quid on the national . Getting the newspaper and looking at the double page spread with all the runners and what colours they would be wearing . You went by a name you liked or a colour . I’ve kept the tradition up with my 3 kids, and they have chosen.... Magic Of Light 16/1 Farclas 20/1 Jett 80/1
  7. Grand National Top 5 rated Cloth Cap 8.4 Magic Of Light 7.5 Burrows Saint 7.3 Anibale Fly 6.6 Kimberlite Candy 6.45 Cloth Cap looks a very worthy favourite and is so well in its unbelievable. Found it easy to discard some horses. I’ll play the top 3
  8. Aintree - Saturday 10th April 2021 13:45 Stoney Mountain 14:25 Ballyadam 15:00 Shishkin 15:35 Thyme Hill 16:15 Happygolucky 17:15 Cloth Cap 18:20 Balco Coastal
  10. Ew money back on Sir Jack Yeats. Fifth rated wins
  11. 4.15 Aintree Happygolucky 7.6 won Snow Leopardess 7.5 6th Top Notch 7 This may stretch Top Notch so happy to rule him out. I particularly like the top 2.
  12. I think ew is a must if the price is right in these big festival handicaps. They pay a lot of places too. Unowhatimeanharry is getting on which puts me off. He’s a pound higher than his last win 3 runs back but he only just held on there in a class 2, and this is a grade 3, so two classes above . Vision Des Flos not in great form at all. Really like the look of Stoney Mountain here, so I think that will be the bet for me .
  13. Unowhatimeanharry 7.5 Vision Des Flos 7.3 Stoney Mountain 7 Champagne Platinum 6.65 Polish 6.4 Stoney runs well fresh and I thought he was a good hurdler before he went chasing which didn’t work out.
  14. Top rated beaten by two lengths. I didn’t have it, as I went with second rated who came nowhere but for such a big field I’m happy with that .
  15. Most definitely. Is there anyway of finding out weights in the uk/Ireland racing?
  16. That’s potentially a gold mine for info .
  17. Didn’t know they did that. Yes it would certainly help. I think most of us would benefit massively from having the weight of an horse on the race card .
  18. Busy night ahead . Need to rate up a 16, 22, and 44 runner race . On way home now so will get cracking when I get in.
  19. Do you think the owners/trainer should be stating the horse is not fit and will need the run? I know some do say that the horse will probably need the run.
  20. Aintree 1.45 Whatsupwithyou 16/1 ew Aintree 4.05 Modus 12/1 ew/Sir Jack Yeats 25/1 ew Two huge fields, so tonnes of luck needed. Paying 7 places.
  21. And he’s 11. Think the stats say 10 and younger do the best . Should get a run for my money with him anyway. It’s an almighty race in terms of numbers.
  22. Modus has a superb record when fresh.
  23. 13:45 - Whatsupwithyou 14:20 - Ajero 14:50 - Shan Blue 15:25 - Politilogue 16:05 - Modus 16:40 - Streets Of Doyen 17:15 - Rowland Ward
  24. 4.05 Aintree Modus 7.95, 12/1(19/1) no value Robin Des Foret 7.45, 22/1(21/1) value Sir Jack Yeats 7.35, 25/1(21/1) value 5th Lust For Glory 7.15, 33/1(22/1) value Livelovelaugh 7, 13/2(22/1) no value won Modus isn’t value but I really like the look of him. He’s handled the fences before which is a plus , same as Sir Jack Yeats . Robin Des Foret is a Mullins horse and yard are in form and jockey also. Livelovelaugh too short. Modus 12/1 ew Sir Jack Yeats 25/1 ew
