  1. Easter Monday sees the running of the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse. It is run over 3 miles and 5 furlongs and is open to horses aged 5 years or older. Off time is 5.00.

33 go to post and some bookmakers are offering each-way terms of 6 places which make this a good betting proposition.

I have looked at the statistics over the last 9 years and these are my key conclusions.

Outsiders have a good record in this race. Those with forecast odds between 25/1 and 66/1 have recorded 5 wins from 98 attempts with a LSP at SP of 153 points. The remainder have recorded 3 wins from 126 attempts with a loss of 105 points.

Horses that finished in the first 3 last time have a poor record with 2 wins from 93 attempts and a loss of 81 points.

The ideal age is 7 with 4 wins from 53 runs and a profit of 24 points.

Just 2 horses fit these criteria.

    GEVREY 25/1

    MUST BE OBEYED 50/1

I suggest backing these each with bookmakers paying 6 places.

Both horses are trained by trainers who have won this race before.
