The big handicap on the second day of Royal Ascot is the Royal Hunt Cup. It is one of three perpetual trophies at the meeting, along with the Gold Cup and the Queen’s Vase, which can be kept permanently by the winning owners.
This heritage handicap is open to horses aged three years or older. It is run over 7 furlongs and 166 yards. The off time is 17.00.
There is a bumper field of 33. Some bookmakers are offering 7 places which makes it a good betting proposition.
I have looked at the statistics over the last 9 years and these are my key conclusions.
The ideal weight is 9st to 9st 3lbs with 7 wins from 86 runs and a profit of 61 points at Betfair Starting Price. The remainder have just 2 wins from 169 runs with a loss of 135 points.
4-year-olds have the best record with 7 wins from 115 runs and a profit of 7 points.
Horses that did not finish in the 1st 4 last time have won just 2 from 118 attempts.
Only 1 horse matches these criteria.
DAWN OF LIBERATION 40/1
I suggest backing this each way with bookmakers offering 6/7 places.

This meeting is the premier flat meeting of the year and because of the prestige and prize money involved we can be confident that all horses will be running on their merits. Whilst there are many variables that will determine the results form will be more reliable than in other races.
Favourites have won 75 out of 298 races and generated a profit. 2nd favourites have also proved profitable.
In fact, with the quality of the racing it is best to stick with the top 4 in the betting forecast.
Some statistics that might help pick a few profitable winners include:
1. Horses that last ran at Newmarket have recorded 22 wins from 126 races with a profit of 155 points.
2. Horses that are having their 1st or 2nd run of the season have recorded 152 wins from 986 runs with a profit of 103 points.
3. Horses that last ran 37 to 47 days ago have recorded 35 wins from 191 runs with a profit of 73 points.
4. Horses that last ran in a group race have recorded 63 wins from 301 runs with a profit of 61 points.
5. Horses that last ran at Epsom have recorded 16 wins from 60 races with a profit of 41 points.
Key statistics related to the non-handicap races include:
1. Horses that finished outside the top 4 last time have recorded 41 wins from 519 runs with a profit of 133 points.
2. The best forecast odds range is 3/1 to 11/2 with 58 wins from 291 runs and a profit of 50 points.
3. Horses bred in the UK have a good record with 71 wins from 908 runs and a profit of 221 points.
4. In large fields low draws have the best record with 11 wins from 109 runs and a profit of 54 points.
5. 1st and 2nd favourites have recorded 103 wins from 428 runs with a profit of 17 points.
Key statistics related to the handicap races include:
1. Forecast favourites have a good record with 18 wins from 85 races and a profit of 21 points.
2. Horses that last ran more than 73 days ago have recorded 16 wins from 272 runs with a profit of 163 points.
3. Horses in the weight range 9st 1lbs to 9st 3lbs have recorded 30 wins from 432 runs with a profit of 98 points.
4. Horses ranked 6th to 15th in the betting forecast have recorded 36 wins from 867 runs with a profit of 167 points.
5. Horses with forecast odds of 12/1 to 14/1 have recorded 23 wins from 340 runs with a profit of 117 points.

At 6-0 it was already NM’s record defeat so I think, without the benefit of hindsight, it would have been ambitious to tilt at that many goals.
It was purely based on my odds data from these bets, 5/1 to 8/1 are showing better ROI than < 5/1

I was tempted at over 5 at 13/2 but chickened out

Love this pick, don't think they've been trying very hard with it recently. Skybet going 7 places but only 66/1 so taken some 100/1 e/w top 6.
Always scratch my head a bit when I end up with the outsider in the field but the stats have worked for me over the years so you have to keep the faith

The big handicap on the opening day of Royal Ascot is the Ascot Stakes.
This heritage handicap is open to horses aged four years or older. It is run over 2 miles, 3 furlongs and 210 yards. The off time is 17.00.
20 go to post and with many bookmakers offering 6 places it makes it an excellent betting proposition.
I have looked at the statistics over the last 9 years and these are my key conclusions.
Older horses have by far the best record with 7- to 9-year-olds having 6 wins from 44 runs and a profit of 127 points at Betfair Starting Price. The remainder have just 3 wins from 127 runs with a loss of 79 points.
It is best to side against those horses with obvious form. Horses that finished in the 1st 6 last time have recorded 4 wins from 123 runs with a loss of 74 points.
Ideally the horse should have had a reasonable rest from its last race. Horses that last ran between 37 and 94 days ago have a record of 7 wins from 76 runs with a profit of 123 points.
Only 1 horse matches these criteria.
EAST ASIA 100/1
I suggest backing this each way with bookmakers offering 6 places.

Boylesports free bet Croatia > 1 goal 7/1

I've had a good day on the horses so I'll be a bit bolder tonight
Croatia HT / FT > 1 goal 15/2
I've also been persuaded to have a modern mobile phone so I can now take advantage of some of Boylesports mobile only offers
They have an offer of bet on a bet builder (min odds 2/1) and have a free bet in play
I've gone Spain > 2 goals 23/10
Also superboost Hamilton podium finish 4/9 to 1/1 (won last weekend)
