Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up Destinys Dancer won the juvenile race the other day without too much fuss in the end, he will keep on improving but has to be held up. Tignello won nicely in the other race where the fav Constructive was a big disappointment. Yesterday Penyfan Dawn was beaten in a close finish by Brett Vale who was well backed, he looks an improver but the race wasnt great, Supernoverre will be better back at 2 miles. Tout Regulier ran well but found the Henderson horse just too good recieving all the weight, both are decent novices for this time of year. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 155 Ban: 85 Leitra House. 81 Pinerock, 80 Rocklandslad 305 Ban: 89 Cass Bligh, 88 Flichity. Preview; Two races at Bangor, the second is a very poor turnout with just 4 runners and Cass Bligh has some fair form over in Ireland and is best of those with experience. Nicholls runs Vertige Dore who has ability winning a bumper last time but will have to be useful to win on debut. The first race is a very moderate affair, Pinerock comes back after a break and a poor run over fences, has the ability but maybe best watched here. Leitra House is an interesting runner, ran out at the first two runs ago and then last time was miles behind before staying on too late behind Great Mates, thats fair form and if he can continue improving will be hard to beat. Rocklandslad had a fair debut and could improve enough to get involved. Bet: 155 Ban: Leitra House 1pt (7/2 WHill bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up 100/1 winner of the first upset the form book, the fancied horses all ran below their best and the race is best treated with caution. The other race went to the debutant Vertige Dore who did it nicely but they went no pace, hard to weigh up. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 550 MR: 91 Favours Brave, 81 Rebel Hunter, 67 Night Reveller 210 NA: 88 Gulf Punch, 87 Beyond, 74 Massachusetts 300 Per: 90 Duty Free, 87 Jewelled Dagger, 81 Piccolo Pride Preview; Three meetings today and one race at each to look at, at Market Rasen it looks a two horse race with Rebel Hunter who ran well here last time and would have been closer but for a bad blunder taking on Favours Brave who has some soild form at this level. Flat horse Baltimore Jack could be dangerous if taking to this game. Over at Newton Abbot we have a 3yo race, Beyond has probably been the most impressive of this age group as yet but on ratings Gulf Punch could go close but he did run just the other day and was disappointing, better jockey on today though and looks sure to get in the frame. At Perth Duty Free has a chance to get his head in front after a decemt second here last time, Jewelled Dagger has some bits of form and the dangers could come from a couple of flat recruits making their debuts in the shape of Great Bounder and Makhaaleb. Bets: 550 MR: Rebel Hunter 2pts (11/4 bet365 bog) 210 NA: Gulf Punch 1pt EW (17/2 SJ bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up Nice to get back on the winning trail, Beyond will be looked upon as disappointing but he had a hard task at the weights, he did look a difficult ride though here and Gulf Punch has proved he needs a strong jockey too but most of these 3yo jumpers are a battle to get them to settle and in a rhythm. Favours Brave had his own way out in front and thats the key to him, he was impressive. Rebel Hunter could never get on terms and needs further. The race at Perth was a duel between Jewelled Dagger and Duty Free, a good ride from Graham Lee ensured victory for the Jim Goldie trained horse. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 200 NA: 89 Scene Two, 88 Kavegirl, 88 Minneapolis 230 NA: 91 Coeur De Lionne, 84 Swiss Art, 83 Flying Squad Preview; Two races, neither clear cut, the first sees Saltagioo and Five Out Of Five carry double penalties, no doubt they are very useful on their day and they both will go on the ground, just a question of can they give the stone in weight away? Of the likely opponents Scene Two could go well, has had two seconds so far, his latest run was ok but never looked liked winning and may have stamina doubts, the opposite for Kavegirl who looks a stayer but may not be quick enough today. Minneapolis should be on the premises but flatters to decieve so many times. The second race is awful and Coeur De Lionne who was well beaten at odds on has the best public form by some way, plenty of possible rivals but all need to show something they havnt as yet. No Bet

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up Good decision in the end to avoid getting involved as both races were run on softer ground than anticipated. Scene Two went close in the opener but was collared close hom by Nun With A Gun who was backed at big prices, they pulled clear but both Saltagioo and Five Out Of Five hated the ground. You dont have be a brain surgeon to work out that Coeur De Lionne is one to avoid, the second time he has refused to put it in and this left the way open for Swiss Art who won nicely. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 215 Sed: 94 Cailin Na Ri, 88 Call Me Mulligan, 87 Grand Zouki 315 Sed: 92 The Magic Bishop, 89 Saddlers Star, 87 Rio Gael Preview; Two races at Sedgefield and the ground remains on the firm side which is a bit surprising, anyway the first is a nice competative event with a fair bit of form on display. Sahrati will be fav after rattling up a hattrick of wins, the double penalty wont make it easy but is on the upgrade. I like Cailin Na Ri's chances back here where she put in her best performance on this type of ground. The mares allowance takes off the penalty and recieves a stone from Sahrati. Grand Zouki and Call Me Mulligan have ability and the Swinbanks have a debutant which will be interesting if backed. The second race is much more of a moderate affair with Rio Gael travelling up after winning at Stratford last time, has it all to do here and needs to improve again. Saddlers Star has improved since joining his new stable but also has a big weight and if The Mighty Bishop can recapture his debut form he will be thereabouts recieving a lot of weight. Bandanaman won a seller and will need to step up to figure here. Bet: 215 Seg: Cailin Na Ri 1pt EW (9/2 PP bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up Grand Zouki ran really well and won easily, he took it up on the home turn and quickened nicely, Cailin Na Ri plugged on for second probably showing her true running. Sahrati was never travelling and was eased down and best ignored. Bandanaman won the other race, held up just off the pace and pounced going to the last, he wouldnt want to be in front too soon though as he dossed on the run in and Rio Gael got to within a length, the form maybe a little suspect. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 520 Ffos: 92 Tara Warrior, 88 Doubletoilntrouble, 86 Russian War 530 Ban: 87 Sassanian, 85 Meetings Man, 67 Dinkie Short 730 Ban: 88 Downward Spiral, 86 North Island, 85 Dowds Destiny Preview; The race at Ffos Las is a puzzle with Russian War over from Ireland heading the market, his form is fair but has ran the odd stinker and wants it firmish which he wont get here. Doubletoilntrouble has AP onboard after a very nice debut last time out, he can only improve. Tara Warrior ran well behind Rio Gael at Stratford, this galloping track may suit better and the step up in trip, wont mind any rain either. At Bangor we kick off with a 4 runner juvenile event, three have form yet the debutant from the McCain yard is probably the one with more scope. Anyway the bottom one Sassanian has the best form on offer but wouldnt trust him implicitly, he runs off the bridle and looks a tricky ride, not sure he will like this small field. Meetings Man is the only winner in the field but that race was moderate and carries the penalty. The other race features three horses with penalties for winning novice hurdles plus North Island who has won a chase, he fell at the first when odds on last time and looks dangerous recieving the weight. Downward Spiral is very consistant which is pretty rare in these races, sure to run his race and stays ok. Dowds Destiny won after a lengthy break last time and now has to step up on that run while Majestic Mayhem has a double penalty to overcome and the step up to 3 miles although he does stay being a winning pointer, he was quite impressive when slamming Sir Frank at Hexham who has franked the form in fine style since. Bet; 520 Ffos: Tara Warrior 2pts (3/1 PP bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up Poor day all round really, at Ffos Las Russian War was in the right mood and despite drifting won well enough from the promising Gambo. Tara Warrior didnt seem to stay the trip which was a surprise. North Island made up for his fall last time and stayed on well to beat Majestic Mayhem who ran well with his big weight. In the juvenile race Sassanian showed again he his going to be hard to win with being easily brushed aside by previous winner Meetings Man. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 730 Cart: 83 Saintly Lady, 77 Lucky Score, 73 Broadway Allstar You dont get much worse than a class 5 mares maiden at Cartmel, a quirky track that suits specialists. The ground is on the soft side and if they get any of the rain from the south by tonight it will quickly become heavy, anyway the forecast says a dry day expected. Just three with form and Saintly Lady comes out best of those and even better she ran well here last time and has form on soft ground so has all the ticks in the right boxes. Lucky Score has moved to the Chris Grant yard and has a few very poor runs to put behind her while Broadway Allstar has been running ok in better company but has never looked liked winning. Debutant Ciannte could be the danger to all, a winning bumper and pointer and couldnt have found an easier race to start off her career under rules. No Bet

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up later; 550 Ffos: 87 Khorun, 87 Tatoman, 84 Lucaindubai, 82 Rafta Ffos Las have a mixed meeting today and include a novice event at 5.50. Only 6 runners and the ground has gone soft. Tatoman goes on the ground but his penalty makes this his hardest task yet, his level of form isnt quite as good as both Lucaindubia and Khorun. The latter won nicely at Southwell from Dereks and looked like a test of stamina would help him, this track will suit and so should the ground, surprised to see him still at 2 miles though. Lucaindubai was very impressive back in May, not sure why he hasnt been seen since, has a few pounds to find but did win easily and can be rated a bit higher than the form suggests. Rafta is improving but is up against it here but does get plenty of weight. No Bet

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 135 Cart: 87 Elevenses, 83 Kings Riches, 75 Kings Lion Desperate race is this, Elevenses comes out best on his win at Fontwell when trained by Paul Nicholls, first run for the new stable. Kings Riches has disappointed a couple of times but ran well enough last time to warrant respect but wouldnt want to be taking low odds about him here. Tim Vaighan has a runner in Bens Folly which will need to improve no end to get involved but this is a bad race. No Bet; No Jumps tomorrow so i'll catch up with everything, need to dash.

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up Ok a quick round up over the last three days starting at Cartmel the other night. Saintly Lady was made hot fav and looked a solid bet but the dreaded Cartmel jinx on normal form struck again, she ran poorly with no excuse and Lucky Strike won well on her comeback. At the same track on Saturday Bens Folly was heavily backed and obliged, the fav here Kings Riches ran a stinker, that was a bit more predictable as he hadnt shown much to date. Elevenses ran well in second with the penalty. At Ffos Las on Friday Lucaindubai was very impressive, all the conditions were right admittedly but he still won with a fair amount of authority, Khorun needs another half a mile at least to show his best and will win another novice race. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 220 Car: 83 Frameit, 80 Star Of Kalani, 78 Teela 440 Car: 92 Duty Free, 90 Rio Gael, 86 Maska Pony 450 Hnt: 87 Get It On, 85 Mutadarrej, 69 Mulaazem Preview; The jump season starts at Huntingdon and hopefully we will now see some better class animals, todays race sees ex Irish horse Get In On fancied, he ran well in a handicap last time but hasnt shone in novice races as yet. I like Mutadarrej here, he ran well off the pace at Worcester before running on when all too late, i expect a much handier ride here. Over at Cartmel the juvenile race is weak and not one to get involved in, Frameit will be fav but jumped poorly on debut. The other race has Rio Gael giving limps of weight away, he ran ok at Sedgefield when trying something similar, today he takes on Duty Free who has threatened to win a few times, this track might suit and has every chance of getting his head in front. Bets: 450 Hnt: Mutadarrej 2pts (15/8 bet365) 440 Car: Duty Free 2pts (5/2 bet365 bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Thanks Russ, missed you earlier mate:ok Round Up Poor day yesterday, Duty Free was lit up by the blinkers and didnt get home after setting a scorching pace, this left the race set up for stayer Maska Pony, Rio Gael paid the price for trying stay with the leader and he also weakened close home. Sircozi made a winning debut at Huntingdon, he came through nicely to lead at the last from market rivals Get It On and Mutadarrej. No excuses here, the better horses will start to run now and must be respected. The juvenile race was poor, won by 25/1 rag Turf Trivia who did nothing wrong but this form doesnt look strong. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 220 NA: 92 APLing, 87 Sassanian, 80 Sefton Park, Mini Max 350 NA: 89 Swiss Art, 75 La Soie, 57 Miss Molly Moses Preview; We have another 3yo race today and it doesnt get any better than yesterdays event, Sassanian is fav but although has the ability he simply doesnt seem to enjoy the jumping game and wouldnt back him with money. AP Ling did run better last time and recieves the fillys allownace but the overall form is weak, no surprise to see a newcomer take this. The second race is at the mercy of Swiss Art, good winner last week and this is a poorer race so the penalty shouldnt stop her here. La Soie is the only one on form that could possibly improve and get involved, the betting without the fav looks interesting. Bet: 350 NA: La Soie 1pt (6/4 w/o fav PP bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up Swiss Art duly landed the odds and won comfortably enough after looking in trouble rounding the home turn, this form isnt up to much so a follow up would be difficult. The second and third ran ok but are moderate. The juvenile race did indeed go to a newcomer in the shape of Joan D'Arc, the fav Sassanian was back in third and must be avoided in the future. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 210 Her: 101 The Fox's Decree, 92 Tiermore, 88 Brimley Shocking contest and The Fox's Decree should win this having ran well in several handicaps, his novice form is nothing special so a short price would be risky. Tiermore has two dreadful runs to get over and Brimley pretty much the same but they are the ones with form in the book. Himitas may run best of those with current form.

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up The four mentioned in the preview filled the first four places so no surprises, Tiermore won well and showed his well being after apparantly having a minor op, the reasons for his poor recent runs. The Fox's Decree never looked liked winning to be fair and handicap form doesnt always translate to these novice races. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 220 Str: 98 Tout Regulier, 95 Saltagioo, 90 Russian George Interesting race with the top three all having won twice before, Tout Regulier gets the mares allowance to negate one penalty. She flopped last time on soft ground and i think the trip also played a part, thats twice now she has been beaten when stepping up. Back here on good ground and at 2 miles we should see the real Tout Regulier. Saltagioo also has a bad soft ground run to get over but his overall form is a bit patchy. Russian George won well last time at Mkt Rasen, this track is a bit similar so could go well, will probably force the pace along with Tout Regulier, hopefully they wont go too fast and set it up for something else. Of the others Unleashed certainly has ability but hasnt threatened to show it over hurdles so far. Bet; 220 Str: Tout Regulier 2pts (2/1 bet365 bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up In a rush so will have to brief, Russian George won a fascinating race with a superb ride from AP, he was under pressure some way out but rallied to win close home from Saltigioo who maybe should have won as the race panned out nicely for him. Tout Regulier ran well in third, she set a fast pace but was never left alone by McCoy and did a little too much too soon. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 225 Wor: 91 North Island, 89 Stormyisland Ahead, 83 Pinerock 510 Wor: 89 Society Venue, 85 Crystal Rock, 83 Flying Squad 140 Fon: 89 Architrave, 82 Doyenne Dream, 81 Joe Rua 245 Fon: 95 Astrolibra, 94 Synthe Davis, 88 Brett Vale Preview Two races at each meeting, at Worcester North Island has a good chance to follow up his easy win last time, the danger Stromtisland Ahead has been a little disappointing of late. Pinerock will be fancied but dont think the overall form is that good. Society Venue is a bit of monkey in my book, has to be delivered late but no doubt has the best form in the second race there. Drill Sergeant makes a belated debut and is a class apart but will be too short to get involved. At Fontwell the juvenile hurdle is headed by Architrave who won well on debut, he should follow up from Doyenne Dream who will be better suited going this way round. The other race is a tricky one with last time out winner Brett Vale carrying his penalty, will need to improve but looks to have some scope, Astrolibra has had many chances and Synthe Davis is useful on her day. Bet: 510 Wor: Society Venue 1pt EW (4/1 Sky)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 230 NA: 89 Holden Caulfield, 88 Marc Aurele, 76 Najavo Nation Terrible race at Newton Abbot with fav likely to be Marc Aurele, he has shown some fair form but is mainly disappointing but this a weak contest. Holden Caulfield would be a danger if reproducing his form of last year but has had one run back from an absence and that wasnt very encouraging. No Bet * Not sure i'll get the ratings done on Tuesday and Wednesday as i'm away all week.
