Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up On Thursday 2 of the 5 races went to newcomers and yesterday 3 from 4 so obviously a tricky time just now, the 200/1 shock at Wetherby yesterday pretty much summed it up, we had 8 previous winners in that race yet one of the first time out merchants managed to win it. Anyway onwards and upwards. Stakes: 1406pts Returns: 1461.05pts Profit : 55.05pts Yield : 3.91% Top Rated Stakes : 946 pts Returns: 934.20 pts Profit: -11.80 pts Yield : -1.24%

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 300 Asc: 112 Fiulin, 102 Organisateur, 90 Dunraven Storm 400 Weth: 96 Karasenir, 91 Andhaar, 90 Solis Preview; Just one from each meeting and both good races, at Ascot we have a listed event and Fiulin has the chance to put his poor run last week behind him, he went off miles too quick and if he can settle will have a chance. Organisateur won well this week and steps up in grade, he may find this too tough. Dunraven Storm is very interesting, won with plenty in hand on debut and is probably much better then his rating suggests. At Wetherby Karasenir looks to have found a nice opportunity, jumps a bit awkward at times but has the engine to make a smart hurdler. The opposition are not bad and the best of them maybe Solis. Newcomer Rupert Lamb is obviously a danger from a powerful yard. No Bet

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up Really good races yesterday, Dunraven Storm showed he has a bit of class when winning the listed race at Ascot. Recession Proof also ran a blinder in second and will soon be winning again. Karasenir was beaten at Wetherby, to me he never looked happy but still fought his way to the front in the home staright and was always vulnerable to a finisher. Andhaar came out the pack and forged ahead on the run in, this was an improved performance probably down to the better ground. Stakes: 1406pts Returns: 1461.05pts Profit : 55.05pts Yield : 3.91% Top Rated Stakes : 948 pts Returns: 934.20 pts Profit: -13.80 pts Yield : -1.14%

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 100 Car*: 91 Blenhiem Brook, 91 Louisa, 88 Lady Jinks 120 Hnt: 81 Up To The Mark, 79 Taketimeout, 46 Roper 230 Hnt*: 92 Keep Talking, 87 Hoback Junction, 84 Harvest Song Preview; Just one race at Carlisle and the paper fav is newcomer Tiptoeaway from the Easterby yard, he won his bumper in good fashion and he wont have to be special to get involved here. Blenhiem Brook looked a stayer when second at Hexham in the soft and this step up in trip may help him. Sunnyside carries the penalty for winning a poor race and although won it well we dont know much and the extra weight is a concern. Lady Jinks could figure on some of her form but hasnt had the best of times since moving north this year. The mare at the bottom, Louisa showed promise on debut and should be thereabouts again. At Huntingdon we have two races but the first has little depth and may be best left to the Daly horse Up To The Mark, who has plenty of experience and the stable had a winner recently and Taketimeout from the Jonjo/AP combination, he ran a very quiet race at Uttoxeter before running on into third, he may need even more time to show his best. The second race is a poser in that Keep Talking ran poorly yeaterday so whether he runs or not must be in question, has a good C/D run to his name though. Hoback Junction and Harvest Song are previous winners but neither strike me as the prolific type and the winner may come from an improver such as Mossley from the Henderson stable or See You Jack who could run well at bigger odds. Bet 120 Hnt: Up To The Mark 1pt EW (8/1 SJ)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 135 Exe*: 106 George Nympton, 83 The Grifter, 78 The Clyder Rover 205 Exe: 90 Dare Me, 68 Silver Roque, 63 Baraquet 435 Exe: 96 Court In Motion, 91 De Forgotten Man, 64 Glens Boy Preview; Despite the three races today looking like going to the fav's it may pay to be cautious, the first race is a good example. George Nympton is miles ahead on hurdle form but has the top class chaser Madison Du Berlais in the line up as well as the Nicholls winning pointer Mr Hudson who is very well regarded and short priced fav. Should be fascinating anyway. The second race should go to Dare Me who was very impressive here last time, doesnt look to be too many hidden gems here although AP rides a promising type for Rebecca Curtis. At 2/9 Dare Me is not begging to be backed. The last race is a match between the unlucky Court In Motion and the debutant Join Together, he comes with a big reputation from the Irish points field. Court In Motion should have won last season but for falling when clear so is a winner without a penalty and gets a second season in the novice races which can be a good thing. De Forgotten Man has ability and may get a place at a fair price.

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 105 Ch: No Ratings 210 Ch*: 87 Gurtacrue, 69 Valid Point, 67 Bally Legend 125 War: No Ratings 310 War: 92 Cotswold Charmer, 90 Wyck Hill, 88 Teenage Kicks, Hear My Song Preview; Poor racing today from a betting angle but good for the future form book, two of the races cant be rated due to lack of experience and the Maiden race at Chepstow looks destined to go to a newcomer as the only one with a fair rating is the Evan Williams horse Gurtacrue, he was second to Owen Glendower which is ok form but nothing special. The one race that has some depth is the 3.10 at Warwick, Cotswold Charmer won last time quite nicely and escapes the penalty as it was a condtional race, he should go well. Wyck Hill should appreciate the trip while Teenage Kicks has a poor run to forget but previously had shown he stays well. Jonjo runs Hear My Song, he was a good second to Acertack and the third Like A Hurricane has won since so the form is rock solid. No Bet

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Slight profit yesterday, will catch up later, really busy this week. 130 Hay: 87 Ataglance, 86 Al Qeddaaf, 65 Tahiti Pearl 350 Hay: No Ratings 110 Tow: No Ratings Only the one race with any real form today and thats a bit thin on the ground. Previous winner Al Qeddaaf takes on Ataglance, not much between them strictly on figures but Al Qeddaaf despite many failures last season did show improved form to win easily at Hexham from Maggio. Ataglance ran really well at the same track last year but was disappointing behind Drill Sergeant last time, if he can bounce back his price is way too big here. At Towcester only Ixora has a decent rating but carries the penalty against some very promising types and will find this tough. Bet 130 Hay: Ataglance 1pt EW (16/1 PP)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 120 Fon: 87 Kauto The Roc, 85 Present To You, 84 Like Ice 310 Hex: 82 Chapolimoss, 50 Code Blue, 42 Bear Dancing Bet: 120 Fontwell: Present To You 2pts EW (100/30 VCBet) I reckon this is a fair price about the Hobbs runner in the race at Fontwell, well backed when disappointed at Perth but won next time from Panchesco, that form looks good now after the latter ran well this week in a good race. The fav and danger is Kauto The Roc, he travelled really well last week but found nil after the last, that was over 3 miles so may have been a flattering pace, he still cant get his head in front after 7 runs over hurdles and now drops back half a mile, just thunk they are struggling to know whats suits this horse. Anyway at the prices i'm siding with the top one despite the penalty. At Hexham the fav Chapolimoss looks miles ahead of those with form, dont like Hexham though and many surprise results happen here, the ground is heavy too so be careful. In a rush this morning will come back to round things up later.:ok

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Round Up Dare Me won as he liked the other day but at 1/6 so he should have, we didnt learn anything new and should be upgraded next time. Court In Motion also won at odds on and did it well enough, not sure he is as good as some think? Yesterday Al Qeddaaf won under a penalty, didnt impress and may be worth taking on next time. Ataglance ran no race and then ran on, dont be surprised if he wins a handicap quite soon. Present To You was mugged on the line by Kauto The Roc, he looked home and hosed approaching the last but wandered on the run in, a decent effort under a penalty. Chapolimoss was a NR at Hexham and Code Blue won well enough from Bear Dancing. Stakes: 1419pts Returns: 1466.25pts Profit : 47.25pts Yield : 3.32% Top Rated Stakes : 964 pts Returns: 954.54 pts Profit: -9.46 pts Yield : -0.98%

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Just wrote the whole post only for it to vanish, so briefly; Only one race i can seriously rate as the ones at Sandown and Wincanton are full of debutants and under 70 rated animals. Jurisdiction could follow up at Kelso but is hard ride and will need pushing from a long way out, the penalty wont help and the danger could be the Howard Johnson newcomer Senor Alco. 1230 Kel*: 84 Jurisdiction, 76 I Witness, 70 Arctic Court No Bet

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 320 Sth: 87 Front Of House, 80 Kasbadali, 65 Midnight Trix 355 Sth: 90 Tharaya, 86 Bagutta Sun, 76 Well Hello There 1250 Car: 94 Bring On The Judge, 90 Dove Hill Preview; The race at Carlisle has only 4 runners and two of them are newcomers, having said that the two with form could fight out the finish. Dove Hill ran a nice race on debut and looks sure to improve and Bring On The Judge comes up from the Twiston Davies yard, he has solid form, the ground may be the key if it keeps raining and Dove Hill has won over 3 miles on heavy. At Southwell we have two low level events, in the 3.55 Tharaya carries a double penalty but has decent form and is not out of it. Bagutta Sun has had two races so far and seems to be getting the hang of it while Well Hello There ran a quiet first race and is open to lots of improvement. The earlier race Kasbadali will be interesting, his second to Dare Me looks good, he has Front Of House to beat who has been inconsistant but has the ability. No Bet

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 100 Seg: 96 Pure Faith, 96 Cardonagh, 77 Shooting Times 130 Seg: No Ratings 120 Exe*: 95 Simply Wings, 94 Daring Origyn, 78 Skipper Robin 350 Exe*: 92 Rith Bob, 92 Way Back When, 88 Naughty Naughty 110 Lin*: 91 Clarach, 87 Blakeneys Pet, 86 Sparky May 210 Lin: 86 Raduis Bleu, 76 Point West, 66 Beau Lake Preview; Busy day today with 6 races at three meetings although one of the races is impossible to rate. At Sedgefield we have Eagle Owl as fav but on all know form he has a lot to find with Pure Faith who has won a couple of races, he's been chasing and now back in his grade and must go close. Carndonagh hasnt ran for two years but had decent form back then, he may need the run. At Lingfield it will be pretty testing as usual and the mares race looks very competative, we have two previous winners in which Sparky May looks the best, Alan King runs American Ladie, her first run and could be anything and a few possible improvers in the mix, Clarach has been frustrating while Blakeneys Pet and The Bishops Baby are pretty soild performers. The second race there is headed by another King horse in Raduis Bleu, been over fences but has the form to win this weak event. At Exeter the first race could go the way of a debutant, the form horses are pretty moderate and both Nicholls and Lavelle have promising bumper horses lining up and would be surprised if one of them isnt up to taking this. The last race has three with fair form, Naughty Naughty won last time but Way Back When should overturn the form on much better terms while Rith Bob although disappointing last time has form to go close, again the race may fall to a debutant, Charlie Mann runs Dunn See Dee who has a good reputation from the point to point sphere but will have to be spot on. Bet; 100 Seg: Pure Faith 2pts EW (5/1 PP bog) 350 Exe: Way Back When 1pt (5/2 bet365 bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 120 Hnt: No Ratings over 70 240 Ban: 88 Marsh Warbler, 87 Bonfire Night, 82 Royal And Ancient 310 Ban: 93 Scoter Fontaine, 90 Heron Bay, 88 Pie At Midnight Preview; The race at Huntingdon is sure to go to a newcomer, those with experience will need handicaps to win and with the likes of Henderson, King, Hobbs etc... with runners its a race to leave and learn. At Bangor, two races, the second is the most interesting for me, a good chance for Scoter Fontaine to build on a good run at Aintree, the form looks solid enough. Heron Bay is very inconsistant and with the penalty aswell this will be a surprise to me if he's good enough. Of the others we have one or two possible improvers and a Henry Daly newcomer, also Pret A Thou a chaser with a high rating but may need this. I like Pie At Midnight and wouldnt give up on him just yet. The juvenile race looks between Bonfire Night who ran in the listed race at Weterby on debut, didnt do too badly considering the opposition, and Marsh Warbler who ran in snatches at Market Rasen, probably side with the Quinn horse here. Bet; 240 Ban: Bonfire Night 1pt (9/4 VCBet) 310 Ban: Scoter Fontaine 2pts (11/10 VCBet) 1pt Double.

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 210 Tau: No Ratings above 70 100 Lud: 88 Silverlord, 88 Iona Days, 88 Carbon Print 230 Lud: 85 Spock, 65 Cavite Beta Preview; Just to quickly say the racing today is pretty awful, at Taunton the Nicholls newcomer looks to have an easy task, only Aines Delight has shown any promise of the others. At Ludlow the first race is full of moderate horses with one or two nice bumper horses and impossible to predict. The last race is a funny one, only two have raced over hurdles, Spook who won quite well and takes on the Henderson horse Cavite Beta who has a big reputation but didnt show much in a decent race last time and is obviously much better than that.

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009/10 Looking forward to your ratings on the novice hurdle. I don't think you run the Irish form? I think the Paul Townend mount is a bit underrated. 10/1 looks a bit big for me. The races he is coming from aren't at all bad. Few of those he beat franked the form. It's a bit of guessing of course, but he might outrun his price.

Re: NH Novice Hurdlers 150 Chelt: 103 Ballyadam Brook, 101 Far Away So Close, , 95 Cue Card, Owen Glendower 1235 New*: 89 Flinty Bay, 82 Warrior One, 66 Benluna 250 New: 88 Roll Over Rosie, 86 Tchikita, 83 Empress Orchid Preview; Two races at Newcastle, the first is pretty open and a couple of ex flat horses are fancied for this, Crackentorp may be the best of them. Flinty Bay ran well when third on debut and is a likely type while Warrior One won last time but will need to improve again under a penalty. The second race there is competative and lots of form to chew over, top rated is Roll Over Rosie, a very promising debut last season but followed by being pulled up the last twice, if she can bounce back the price is good. Fav is Empress Orchid, fair form but the connections are making this fav, Catleen and Tchikita are also in with a shout in a very open contest. The best race of the day is at Cheltenham, a grade 2 race with all sorts of possibilities, we have two from Ireland and four unbeaten hurdlers from this side of the sea. Owen Glendower has done nothing wrong but maybe hasnt the scope of Cue Card who was very impressive on debut and won the bumper at the festival last season, he's open to lots of improvement but i can only rate what he has done so far. Same thing for Dunraven Storm, he has won a couple already and last time was a class 2 race at Ascot, he will need to step up once again but isnt out of it. King Of The Night won a small race easily and could be anything. Now the Irish runners, not much between them in my book, Ballyadam Brook has won four races in the summer and last time was second but was probably the best performance, he led last time and with not many of that type running here he may get a soft lead? Far Away So Close is interesting at a big price, he too can front run and won a 10k race last time, a real battler and wont mind the hill at this track, both the Irish runners will like the ground too and have made the most of it before the heavy ground comes later on in the year. Fascinating race, impossible to predict but from a personal point of view hope that Cue Card can go on and reach the top for the Tizzards. Bet; 250 New: Roll Over Rosie 1pt EW (14/1 PP bog)

Re: NH Novice Hurdlers Round Up The big race went the way of the market with Cue Card winning impressively from the other horse with plenty of scope Dunraven Storm, both will go on and contest the top races. Those in behind, Owen Glendower ran ok and the Irish hope Ballyadam Brook is a consistant type. At Newcastle Roll Over Rose made late headway to finish just out of the money, this was better and maybe next time will be given a chance. The winner battled on well to beat the fav Empress Orchid who made a bad blunder in the back straight which didnt help. Flinty Bay was well backed and bumped into a smart debutant in Storm Brig, both should pay their way. We have 4 unbeaten 3yo's, the best could be Palawi who won with real authority on his debut, Architrave has won three and you cant crab his form, the other two will need to step up a grade or two. The reliable Two Kisses is sure to run well and dont discount Grandouet who went for home too quick last time in a hot race, if he settles he will be dangerous. The Nicholls team send out a newcomer and is obvioulsy well regarded, likewise the other Henderson runner who is fav at the moment. Cant really say anything stands out at the other meetings, maybe Marleno could win a poor event at Uttoxeter. Bet; 1250 Ch: Palawi 1pt EW (17/2 VCBet)

Re: NH Novice Hurdlers Round Up Busy in the morning so get this done early for a change. The big race went to Sam Winner the Nicholls newcomer, he was extremely impressive and beat a good field with ease, just shows despite some useful form in the book from these juveniles this season we havnt seen some of the best ones yet. Good races from Grandouet and Plan A who both improved from their first runs and a cracking debut from Horatio Caine, the Henderson debutant Titan Di Sarti was fifth but will come on for the run. Elsewhere a terrific day for the ratings with winners at 11/1, 9/2 and 4/6 which makes a nice change. Re: NH Novice Hurdlers 330 Che: 102 Mount Helicon, 100 Supercede, 98 Final Day 340 Fon*: 79 Balustrade, 61 Lastroseofsummer, 60 Jack Soldier 1230 MR: 90 Andhaar, 85 Bow Badger, 81 Taketimeout Preview; At Fontwell the only novice race is awful and the less said about that the better, at MRasen Andhaar was impressive on his run last time and should really carry the penalty in this grade, Taketimeout has been disappointing so Bow Badger could be the danger. At Cheltenham we have a decent race and its competative, of the 9 runners 5 are from Ireland and Mount Helicon looks pretty smart. Final Day won here earlier and will go close. I'd like to know where all the UK based horses are, the money is good yet they have decided not to run?
