The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread)

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) 4.05 Goodwood (Class 2) It was pointless backing before betfair had taken the likely NR's out of the market. I backed Hunting Country to win a big handicap at Newbury and he was most impressive. Flopped badly though when brough out quickly. That was a very different race - sure to be more at home in this field. Well beaten by Miletary Power though and worse off in the weights, however it was Hunting Country's 2nd start that day, he has improved since then and I wouldn't be surprised if he was closer to him today. Miletary Power has plenty of form that makes him look well handicapped however, close to Campanologist at two and every race he has run in this season has worked out well. Steel Tango has been a model of consistency all year. I mentioned Khateeb in my Royal Ascot write-up. He was 4th to Collection in the Hampton Court at a big price but would've been a lot closer with a trouble-free passage. I took a massive price about him on betfair then and I was certain after the race that he'd find a nice race. He flopped on soft ground before that run (4th of 6). Before that he was ridiculously impressive in his maiden, won vey easy by 8l from mid-70s horse Barricado. Was a one time Sussex Stakes entry so obviously well thought of. Don't think we've seen the best of Donna Alba yet, she ran well under a typical light McEvoy ride LTO. Strange comments in the RP - stated that Steel Tango and Indian Days (who finished in front of her that day) have more improvement in them than she does. Ridiculous comments, pure conjecture which doesn't even add up. She'd only had 5 runs prior to that and she looks a typical improver from the yard. Khateeb 45% of stake 9 betfair Hunting Country 40% of stake 10 betfair Miletary Power 15% of stake 6.4 betfair Khateeb/Hunting Country/Miletary Power £6.65 F/C Comb £6.65 T/C Comb Khateeb/Hunting Country/Steel Tango/Donna Alba/Miletary Power £2 F/C Comb £1 T/C Comb

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) 5.50 Goodwood (Class 3) I was shocked to see Toms Laughter win on Sunday but the blinkers obviously had the desired effect. His form with headgear now reads 111162201. He has a good record when turned out quickly and often wins back-to-back. A reproduction of Sunday's form would see him with I'm certain of that and given the above I'm confident he will reproduce it. Mambo Spirit, Johannes and Ocean Blaze have looked ready to in recent weeks and they all rate as my dangers. Toms Laughter 70% of stake 8 betfair Mambo Spirit 10% of stake 34 betfair Johannes 10% of stake 30 betfair Ocean Blaze 20% of stake 13 betfair £8.25 F/C Comb £4.10 T/C Comb

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) Had a great day at Goodwood on Friday, even found a winner or three. Started a post yesterday but was far too hung over to complete it. I could just about manage to navigate around betfair. I think I'm back to normal now. Was seeing double yesterday I thought I took 55/1 about Katie Boo last night! 4.00 Chester South Cape hasn't been disgraced in a few big class handicaps so far this season. Ran ok behind Zaahid in the Victoria Cup and then put in two fine efforts at Ascot behind Regal Parade and Laa Rayb. He runs off a 1lb lower mark here and is now 3lb lower than when winning here last September. His form over 7f around a bend reads: 111 Medici Pearl has had a good season, she has always promised to be fair, her run LTO can be ignored as she wasn't really given a chance with the ride. Draw is against her though. South Cape 80% of stake 4.3 betfair Medici Pearl 20% of stake 18 betfair £50 RFC

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) 3.15 Ripon (Class 3) Very quiet on here today - even for a Monday. This looks a weak class 3 and I have to give a chance to Prior Warning. I've backed him the last twice at huge odds. He was well beaten at Royal Ascot but was only just beaten when flying at the finish at the July meeting LTO. He runs off the same mark here and I believe there is a race in him off this mark. 9lb better off for 3l with Agigilo on the May run at Newmarket and he is slung in on his French form when he ran close to Literato and US Ranger. He clearly isn't in that sort of form any mroe but if he can reproduce anything like that form he would win with ease off this mark of 95.# Prior Warning 50% of stake EW 7.6 & 2.7 betfair

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) 4.10 Looks like connections have been waiting for the ground with Meshtri. Handicapper not taking any chances with a mark of 88 but had Ella nearly 3l behind on his debut run. Sevenna ran a cracker after playing out in the early stages LTO, if she want's to race she has to come into equations. Boucheron is clearly flattered by his long margin maiden win but sure to appreciate this ground more than LTO's. Meshtri 55% of stake 6.8 betfair Sevenna 20% of stake 19 betfair Boucheron 25% of stake 13.5 betfair £16.50 F/C Comb £16.50 T/ Comb

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) Can't buy a winner on this thread at the moment. 1.25 Backed Decameron LTO and he would've won under a stronger ride. All his maiden form is of a decent standard and his mark of 92 is a winnable one to say the least. I said LTO that he could be better than handicap standard. Ground an unknown. I've backed Yamal all season and he has done me proud winning 5 times from 9 starts. A great performance LTO from a difficult draw at Goodwood and I'm not leaving him out until it's proved that the handicapper has caught up with him. Acts on GS but this soft is an unknown. Extraterrestial has gone off the boil after early season promise, does go on the ground though and chances on best. Zero Tolerance just failed in Ireland LTO and although he has risen 3lb in the weights he is still well handicapped and goes on the ground. Decamron 50% of stake 7.2 betfair Yamal 30% of stake 9 betfair Extraterrestital 20% of stake 15.5 betfair £8.25 and £4.10 F/C T/C combos inc Zero Tolerance.

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) Extraterrestial travelled well and ran ok, as feared the ground was too soft for the other two. It does very soft at Haydock and will stake accordingly. 2.00 Haydock Burning Insence acts on the going and he has dropped to a nice mark (same as his last win). Plenty of close efforts off marks up to high 90s. Looks sure to go well here but is hard to win with. I included Topflightcoolracer in my bet when she made her seasonal debut and she ran a cracker at 40/1 (3rd). Disappointed NTO from a poor draw at Ponty. That 3rd was on heavy ground so there must be every chance of her repeating that effort here. Only 3lb higher than when winning at Chester last season and although she is a bit 'in and out' there a race in her this season. Burning Insence 50% of stake 6.4 betfair Topflightcoolracer 25% of stake win 27 betfair Topflightcoolracer 25% of stake place 5.3 betfair £50 RFC

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) First time all season I've not backed Valery Borzov. That stable really does have you scratching your head. 2.10 Newmarket (July) At about how well handicapped Whenever is LTO but he disappointed at Ascot - will give him another chance. Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) 2.55 Ascot I've backed Bogside Theatre so far this season and she jsut doesn't know how to run a bad race. She has crept up the weights for some gallant efforts. Sure to give her all again with conditions to suit. Carracciola travelled well LTO but didn't get the cleanest of runs. Bogside Theatre 50% of stake EW 4.8 & 1.85

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) 3.10 Haydock Couldn't get online earlier so I'm rushed for my write-ups so sorry they are a bit poor. I didn't have time to post at all for the 2.40 (typical!). I wrote LTO about Kings Event and about Ezdiyaad all season. King's Event looked in need of the run when I backed him at Ascot and should be spot on here. His sole win come on soft too and I think he has the potential to be better than an 85 handicapper. Ezdiyaad will also love conditions and has run well in top races all year. Perks has been backed and will love conditions also. Kings Event 80% of stake 3.75 Ezdiyaad 20% of stake 7 F/C and T/C Combo with Perks

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) 3.50 Newmarket (July) Backed Kalahari Gold LTO and he was most impressive. I thought at the time he would be hard to beat no matter where he goes. 12lb higher, which is a fair rise but if he is as good as I think he is then he could cope with it. Big Noise is one of mine to follow this season but so far he has disappointed. Showed signs of a revival LTO though and could strike soon. Kalahari Gold 75% of stake 5.4 betfair Big Noise 25% of stake 7.4 betfair £50 RFC

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) Cheers Ginge - I really like this horse. Just been reading your thread, Rainbow View was most impressive. You have a nice bet, I don't really know too much about the 2yo's yet. Does it need soft? Or did it win despite the going do you think? There doesn't seem to be any fillies about really. Are Paddy still going 10s? Best on betfair is 7.6 (for £2).

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) Would be suprised if the 10's lasts long. They've still got their old price up on Oddschecker but RUK quoted them as 10/1 after the race and I got on immediately. Tote and Laddies are both 8's, B365 7's with others 6's and less. If it were trained by Mr. O'Brien she'd be 2/1 favourite. Betfair punters are usually cautious to start with. As I said, she has an American sire Dynaformer (sire of Lucarno) one of very few US sires who are an influence for stamina. I'd say his progeny have a better record on a sound surface. Dam won a Group 1 in the US too. American pedigrees usually favour firm ground and Rainbow View's action is a fluent one, not with a round action at all. So I'd be a bit surprised if she is a soft ground filly, probably one that will go on anything. The Jim Bolger filly is a good one but she has blotted her copybook. Ginge

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) 6.55 Nottingham (Class 3) A depleted field and only five take part. Tasheba has run consistently well in handicaps since his maiden win. A 7lb rise and a mark of 85 looks fair but I cannot back the yard at odds-on at the moment, even though they do well with 3yos here. The Betchworth Kid is well treated off a mark of 85. Based on placed efforts behind Paktai and Replesdent Light. Yossi isn't easy to win with and I'm not the yard's biggest fan (although are in form). Blinkers may liven his chances and is well treated off 77. Gone well in better races off higher. Acts with give. Yossi 35% of stake EW 6/1 (Current show) The Betchworth Kid 30% of stake 4.5 betfair £50 RFC

:nana The theory was spot on but I just couldn't get a decent bet given how I thought the race would pan out. Even though I laid Yossie big time in running at short odds I'm still gutted as I would've copped a lot more personally had he won. Disappointed with the exacta paying just £20. But a nice 1-2 and banker cast - read it pretty perfectly.

Re: The Upper Classes (a BTP specialisation thread) Cheers mufec. There hasn't been many qualifying races for the thread lately and unfortunately I was too busy to post on Saturday. The thread has missed so many winners on Saturday's due to that reason. Anyway a summary before York: Upper Class Singles Bets: 169 Winning Bets: 80 S/R: 47% Staked: 168.75 Returns: 177.74pts P/L: +8.99 Upper Class F/C Bets : 144 Winning Bets : 30 S/R : 21% Staked : £14,300 Returns : £13,217 P/L : -£1083 This thread is quite a challenge as I select in nearly all class 2/3 handicaps, and the F/C bets are a must if I select more than one in a race. Still in front but I've missed a lot of profits by not posting on two Saturday's the day Laa Rayb won at huge odds (always tipped on the thread prior) especially. But I'm bound to say that ain't I? :lol
