Gingers (Flat) Winners 08

Re: Gingers (Flat) Winners 08 Thanks for updating the stats Ginge, doing well! Just one niggly question, I see you are unsure of the reduction factors, surely if you put these bets on you would know what the % was? The actual price you got would be in your account statement would it not, even if you didnt put the exact stated amounts on. Just a thought. Good luck in the big one!

Re: Gingers (Flat) Winners 08 8:40 Support Fund is better on softer. So might Victoria Reel be (insufficient evidence to be certain) but also may like the drop back to 7f (pulled last time at a mile). Is too short to take the chance. La Corveta is having her fourth run in a month, seems to do best with a short journey to the course (not far from Manton here) but seems inconsistant. Tableau Vivant has been steadily progressive. Acts on both a soft and firm surface. Won under todays jockey last time. Hopefully he and Polar Annie will not take each other on. Polar Annie has not been getting home at a mile, weakening late on. Handicapped on that form and can improve today at 7f.

Re: Gingers (Flat) Winners 08 2:50 Goodwood £35 each way @ 7/1 (generally) Scintillo (15.5% 11/2) Coduit is the obvious one here but I could not decide whether he has a better chance of winning or losing so made it 50% Evens chance. Unlucky at Ascot, came from well back in a slowly run race. Should get a good pace here with Donegal having little chance unless it's a truly run 1 1/2 miles. Donegal and Bougereau met at Newmarket, wasn't much between them there but former is now better off. However, Bougereau was Evens fav there and may not have given his running. Possibly did not stay after travelling well. Is also possible the Chapple-Hym colt will want some rain, very best on softer. Donegal may be outspeeded on a firmer surface, outstayed his rivals last time on good-soft. Hebridean ran poorly on firm at Royal Ascot and may do better if there is rain too. Alan Devonshire is outclassed, a good winger but not up to this standard. Scintillo ran well when upped in trip here at the may meeting. Form working out well with City Leader and Top Lock running well since. Unexposed at 1 1/2 miles and acts on a firm and soft surface. My prices to beat are: Conduit Evens, Hebridean 11/2, Scintillo 11/2, Bougereau 9/1 (want to see him in the paddock before backing him), Donegal 14/1, Alan Devonshire 200/1.

Re: Gingers (Flat) Winners 08 No bookies betting on the 5:10n yet. I've probably worked the race out wrong but can not see how. Betfair's prices look a bit strange to me several looking outstanding value. 5:15 Goodwood £18 @ 22/1 The Snatcher (9% 10/1) £18 @ 19/1 Habshan (9% 10/1) £13 @ 28/1 The Fifth Member (8% 12/1) £13 @ 35/1 Red Birr (8% 12/1) Will hopefully be able to back Swop as a saver at 9/2 or bigger.

Re: Gingers (Flat) Winners 08 Sorry, thought I'd already tipped Raven's Pass ante-post but it seems not. So... 3:30 Goodwood £60 @ 5/1 Raven's Pass (22.5% 7/2) £17 @ 16/1 Major Cadeaux (9.5% 10/1) £2 @ 74/1 Dream Eater (2.5% 40/1) My prices to beat are: Henry 8/11, Raven's 100/30, Major 10/1, Tariq 25/1, Winker 28/1, Dream 40/1, Windsor 500/1. Henry deserves to be favourite, even odds on fav, but not that short. Do wonder if they will let the pacemaker go if Henry does not track it. All the other runners are hold up horses and some are doubtful stayers too. Major Cadeaux is the most likely to track the pace and may have a slight lead over his main rivals when the sprint comes. Hopefully Fortune has now learnt to keep Ravens handier too. The pacemaker has been slowly away in the past which could put a different complection on things. Ginge

Re: Gingers (Flat) Winners 08 2:30 Goodwood £25 @ 22/1 Shaweel (9% 10/1) This looks massively over priced. Was held up well off a slowish pace at Newmarket, Firth Of Fifth getting a soft lead and surprising the other jocks when kicking. Stable in excellant form and gets 3lbs from it's old rival. more to come Ginge

Re: Gingers (Flat) Winners 08 2:50 Was mightily impressed by Orizaba's debut win but was disappointing at Royal Ascot after a slow start. Should get the trip but not certain. Stable in and out of form. Saved on it. Sayif impressed at Newmarket, possibly still green when second to Classic Blade. Trouble is he's not sure to get the extra furlong, related to a Cornwallis (5f) winner and Chapple-Hym could be in better form. Westphalia is another one of Coolmoore's which is far too short a price judged on it's form. Will be interesting to see what they do with Lord Shanakil, drawn on the rail. Usually races prominently at shorter. Bred to get the trip, will they attempt to take on Firth Of Fifth? Argueably has the best form, placed in the Coventry. Have already said about Shaweel and Firth Of Fifth. 5:15 Victoria Sponge ran well on debut to suggest she's up to winning this. Though I would prefer another furlong, bred to get quite a bit further. Travelled well enough at Windsor at 6f. Trainer is in good form and usually improves them second time up. Tiger Eye is a big danger judging by reputation and breeding. Stable does well first time out too. Marcus Treggoning seems to be getting a few winners lately and Sterling Sound could improve because of it, worth a saver. Mark Johnston and Paul Cole's representitives are worth keeping an eye on in the market. 5:50 Not the best race in the Goodwood Festival but Firestreak is probably the only one capable of improvement so is worth a bet. Much improved since the Queen had him gelded. Two of his main rivals, We'll Come seems to need everything to go right for him and Flawed Genius may want further nowadays. Monkey Glas is interesting as he is the likely front runner, sometimes an advantage over Goodwood's seven furlongs.

Re: Gingers (Flat) Winners 08 Mightily impressive in the Sweet Solera despite things not going well for her early. Held up as they went a slow pace and had to be switched around her field. Yet powered 6 lengths clear. Bred to get at least 1m2f but seems to have plenty of speed, pulled a bit here. I believe she is related to Raven's Pass. Stable went close with Infallible this season. Although today was on soft and debut on good, has a fluent action and her mostly American pedigree suggests she will be equally effective on a firm surface. Ginge

Re: Gingers (Flat) Winners 08 3:40 Miss Rochester has the best chance but seems to be very short judged on it's form. And not sure to go on the ground either. There are other progressive types in the field too. Hepburn Hill has looked to be crying out for the step up in trip. Finishing well in her races. Not raced on soft since debut but is worth chancing at the price. Sea Chorus raced fairly prominently last time and in a race where there does not look much pace around, may be at an advantage if doing the same again. Shimoni ran very well first time for Mr. Moore last time but may be flattered. Came from off a strong pace. Unlikely here. Moon Sister could improve, but although from the family of Pentire is by Champion Sprinter Cadeaux Genereaux, so may not stay the trip on this ground. 4:15 If there is one that will go on to Group 1 honours it is Third Set. Did well for Godolphin in Dubai. If equally effective on soft will take some beating. Laa Rayb is still on the up, may struggle on the ground but worth a saver at the price. Ordnance Row is consistent and acts very well on the going. Has not been on it for a while and was considered best on soft earlier in his carreer. Redford is a danger but may not get the truly run race he needs. Redolent is the one likely to set the pace and his chance depends on getting a soft lead. Very possible as the only other likely prominent runner is the stable companion. Unless Laa Rayb goes back to those tactics after improving when held up last time. Ginge
