Re: WSOP Main Event Gigabet Scores One from Tran Kenny Tran raised 17,000. Darrell "Gigabet" Dicken called. The flop was js.gif10d.gif7d.gif. Gigabet check-called a 50,000 bet from Tran. The turn was the 2d.gif and both players checked. The river was the as.gif. Gigabet checked and Tran bet 80,000. Gigabet went into the tank for a few minutes before he called. He showed ks.gifkc.gif and Tran mucked.

Re: WSOP Main Event "Woooo!" Flop: 9s.gif9d.gif2d.gif Bob Lauria pushed all-in on the flop against a single opponent. His opponent called and showed pocket tens while Lauria showed 8s.gif5s.gif. The turn was the 7s.gif and the river was the ks.gif, giving Lauria the flush. The other player was eliminated and Lauria became overly excited. Re: WSOP Main Event Humberto Brenes Doubles Up Three players, including Humberto Brenes limped in and saw a flop of ac.gif9s.gif4s.gif. The big blind bet 15,000 and only Brenes called. The turn was the 6h.gif. The big blind bet 38,500, the exact amount remaining in Brenes' stack, and Brenes called instantly. "You got me" said the big blind, showing as.gifjh.gif. Brenes turned over ah.gifda.gif and starting waving his famous "Chark" around, saying something about how the shark might be hungry as the ESPN cameras swarmed. The river was the qd.gif, and Brenes doubled up to 153,000. GEET IN!!!! HAVE HUMBERTO IN MY DREAM TEAM!

Christian Togsverd, who had Williams well covered, re-raised all in from the big blind. Wiliams made the call for her remaining 71,000 and the players showed... Williams: jd.gifjc.gif Togsverd: qc.gif9h.gif The pocket Jacks of Shirley Williams held up and she doubled up to about 170,000. Christian Togsverd slips to 244,000.

Re: WSOP Main Event Cory Carroll Busts a Player After a flop of jc.gif9c.gif7d.gif, the big blind checks, Cory Carroll bets 20,000, the big blind moves all in for about 56,000, and Carroll immediately calls with js.gif9d.gif for two pair. The big blind shows qd.gif10d.gif for an open-ended straight draw, and he'll need to improve to survive. The last two cards are as.gif4d.gif, and Carroll's two pair holds up to win the pot. Re: WSOP Main Event

I saw Steve Liu leave the tournament area after the break, so I assume he survived the bubble and busted shortly thereafter. Other Brits still in: Julian Gardner - 450k Willie Tann - 400k Bad Beat - 160k The ESPN feature table has been changed and I can't see John Duthie anywhere. As morlspin described, he'd taken a hit down to 105k, so it's possible he's gone.

Re: WSOP Main Event Refund Not Necessary After a player in early position raised to 14,000 Kirk Morrison called in the cutoff, and Ken Webster then moved all-in for a total of 57K. The original raiser called and Morrison took a long time to think things through. "Do you have Ace-Queen?" Morrison asked, before making the call. Webster turned over qd.gifqh.gif and Morrison pulled back his chips and said, "I think I want my money back." Of course, heh heh, you can't change your mind like that Morrison tabled his 7s.gif4s.gif. The two players saw an da.gifkc.gif6d.gif flop that did nothing to help Morrison's hand...but the 7c.gif hit on the turn and the 4d.gif on the river to deliver a brutal beat to Webster than sent him out of the Main Event. Morrison now has 445,000

Re: WSOP Main Event "The Matador" Wins Without a Showdown Action folded around to Carlos Mortensen in the cutoff seat who raised to 13,000. Joe Pharo made the call from the small blind and the two took a flop heads up... ac.gif5h.gif3d.gif Pharo checked dark and Mortensen fired out 25,000. Re: WSOP Main Event Celebrity Poker Showdown At Table #2, the random draw has moved actor Tobey Maguire (best known for playing Spiderman) to the immediate left of Sully Erna, the lead singer for Godsmack. Most celebrities bust from the Main Event long before the money bubble, so it's particularly unusual that these two would find themselves seated next to each other so close to the dinner break on Day 3. Both Maguire and Erna have played the Main Event the past few years, and occasional other events. Maguire reached the final table of the first-ever Bellagio Cup in the summer of 2005, before it was turned into a televised WPT event.

Re: WSOP Main Event Courtesey of Gutshot.com comes this snippet of what happened on the bubble... PENALTY BOX With 622 players remaining there only needed to be one more elimination before the money. While this is a great time for someone with chips to accumulate more, there was one player who had different priorities. This gentleman, who was a previous winner of the prestigious Sweet Moustache Award, has a little bit of heart as well. The board was out and the river had brought along a third diamond. Sweet Moustache was on the button and was up against the big blind. The big blind checked, electing not to bet his final $6,000 or so. Moustache thought for a second and then checked as well turning up his Ace-Nine of diamonds. Wait a minute? The stone cold nuts? He checked with the stone cold nuts? Moustache didn't want to eliminate the other player in the hand. He was trying to be a nice guy by not being responsible for eliminating the final player before the money. Unfortunately, as a player from another table cried out,''He gets a penalty for that! He checked the nuts on the river! You can't do that! He needs to get a penalty!'' A floorman nearby had witnessed the scene as well and made his approach. Poor Moustache was having a laugh with the dealer over how he was just trying to be nice. The dealer didn't seem to think it was too wrong, she laughed along. The floorman approached Moustache and told him he would have to sit out for a round. He was being penalized for 'colluding'. Moustache was a little shocked, not realizing that he'd done anything wrong. One player at the table commented,''Hey don't worry about it man, it's just one round, what you did was really cool.'' Though his heart was in the right place, what he did was not really right. Though he had 'saved' one player, another player at a different table would have to pay the ultimate price instead, and how fair is that? The man who had been saved didn't dare look towards the tournament director during the ruling. -------------------- Personally I am amazed that he thought he had done nothing wrong.

I agree that this shouldn't be allowed, but I don't think it's actually "colluding" unless he has some kind of agreement with the big blind. Takes two to collude.

Re: WSOP Main Event They made a point before this started that this would be a penalty - I knew about it and I wasn't there!!! This guy should have made himself aware of the rules, and especially the rules they were making a point of!!! There was a similar style of play last night in the Betfair WSOPE freeroll with 10 left (9 seats) - had both tables open - one table had players who were openly talking about soft playing and slow playing, the big stack was checking down the hands, the other table was playing properly, and the big stack (staffy) was bullying the short stacks out of the hands ...... I was really hoping that the bubbler came from the "colluding" table, and it did, but unfortunately it was a PL'r :sad I don't understand why people feel a loyalty to someone they don't know, sat on their table, above someone they dont know sat on another table.... If I'd been on the table playing properly, I'd bubbled and I saw what happened on the other table, I wouldn't have been happy and would have been asking Betfair to look into it....

I think that is a bit different, though. If they suggested soft playing, then that is colluding. If you spontaneously soft play from some misguided feeling that you're being nice, then that's wrong, but I don't think it's ethically as bad as colluding.

I know I wouldn't bust him out ... (as the other guy would probably have more potential for greatness anyway !! :tongue2 )

(I'd kill him if he didn't and I found out he could have! :@) There's a difference between understanding and condoning. I could "understand" somebody committing perjury to save a friend, where I couldn't understand them doing it to save a complete stranger, but it doesn't mean I think it's right in either case.
