Didnt like the way they started the flat this year with switches to AW etc, however we start proper today with decent racing at Redcar. As usual, all bets will either be 5pts ew or 10pts win (& i will also be doing place bets on Betfair also which will be 10pts also) todays selections are: 2.10 Redcar ALFONSO 5pts ew @ 9/1 Paddy Power Trainer has had this race in mind for some time & after 3 decent efforts on the AW, rightfully takes it place in this large field. Drawn 21 of 24 will be interested to see if the high draws do get an advantage here. With 4 places up for grabs, this horse will have fitness on its side & the trainer has put the blinkers on today which he feels will help in this large field. 3.15 Redcar BENEDICT 5pts ew @ 25/1 (already advised in Lincoln thread) High draw in 28 of 30, goes well in these conditions, extremely consistent last term over this distance. Record over 1m reads 2-1-1-2-3-1. 3.15 Redcar CESARE 10pts win @ 8/1 (already advised in Lincoln thread) This race sometimes throws up horses who are Group class in the future & this is the likely one after winning 3 out of 4 last season. Drawn in 6 of 30, so will have rto overcome that (or will it help), may well be at least 3L better than these seasoned handicappers. Fits all the trends & stands a great chance. 3.50 Redcar QUITO 10pts win @ 5/1 Sporting odds 6f/7f specialist in any ground. Difficult to back against as the soft ground today will play to its strengths as it finishes fast & could be eating up the ground as others toil in its wake, never wins by much but will be there at the finish. 40pts staked

Typical start for me if previous years are anything to go by! 1 bet today 3.30 Brighton DESESRT DREAMER 10pts win @ 9/2 Betdirect Has good form on any surface & will act on the track which is essential round Brighton. Seb rides & he has an excellent record here.

Reasoning	ran 2nd to Glad Big in a class 5 event LTO. A repeat of that performance here should be enough to get a place against these in this class 6 event. Has to overcome the 12 stall of 14, those drawn middle won the 2 similar races yesterday so i am not too worried about the effect yet of the draw here. Is currently 14/1 best with most bookies, but we can get 4.7 a place with Betfair.

Reasoning	has ran consistently well on the AW all winter & won nicely at Kempton 2 weeks ago when coming off a strong pace, same tactics today should prevail in at least a place. It would appear that horses fresh from the AW hold an advantage this year as the recent cold snap has delayed some of the horses preparations for the season.

The form of that race has been franked with Blue Monday winning the Cambridgeshire. Has been reluctant to enter the stalls before but i would hope Stoute has been working on that over the winter.

Dropped in class today should be thereabouts. 5.40 Warwick MARCELLO 5pts ew @ 12/1 Sporting odds sort of race that an improving 3yo will win. First race in handicap company, Paul Cole will have the horse ready no doubt after 3 runs on the AW to date. 30pts staked

just adding another 2 for today: 2.00 LORD CHARLES 10pts place 3.6 Betfair missed the break 1st time out, but flew home to win. If it shows the same speed again, could upset these. I had this 1st time up at 25's in the notebook thread & Turner said he would see what it could do in a higher class. 2.35 RED CAPE 10pts win @ 13.5 Betfair Fallon on board for Callaghan. not raced on turf before but had 3 runs on the AW before xmas. Won a 7f event before finishing 2nd over a mile. Back to 7f today & should go well.

Cheers & :welcome Sensisteve. The trainer was very sweet on this & made it public so worth following. i only had the place at 3.6 on Betfair, but made a tidy profit of 26pts at that price.
