African Nations Cup Winner and Tournament Bets

Re: African Nations Cup Winner and Tournament Bets Instead of taking Cameroon at 1.4, I am considering backing Etoo to score anytime at 1.72. Tournament defending has on the whole so far been shambolic and it has been poor finishing that has kept the scores down. A clinical fnisher like Etoo, even if they triple team him and kick him to death and without the service he gets for Barca, surely has more chance of scoring in this sort of game than in La Liga where he has gone off at shorter prices this season.

Re: African Nations Cup Winner and Tournament Bets Cameroon v Togo Another game where im gonna go big on goals in this. Togo bitterly under-performed in their opener, losing 2-0 to Dr Congo while Cameroon were disposing of Angola by 3-1. The loss of Adeybayor has had a massive impact on the team it seems and I fear for them against Cameroon. Togo simply lacked any kind of invention in their opener and I cant see how this can change much against a far superior team than DR Congo. Expect a few goals in this!! Eto should have a field day! over 2.5 goals @ 1.98 Betfair 4 or more goals @ 3.25 Paddy Power

Re: African Nations Cup Winner and Tournament Bets Angola v DR Congo Right, first things first - Just how good are Angola?. They qualified for the World cup and to be honest impressed me with some of their displays in qualifying, however after seeing them playing their group opener, Im afraid that I have changed my mind for now. Cameroon simply outclassed them and Eto looked like he would score at nearly every opportunity. A big Powerful striker seemed to be their un-doing and in Lomana Lua Lua, Congo have one themselves. Fast and above all - a class above any of Angola's better players, He should have a big impact on this game. Dr Congo were impressive in beating Togo and can continue it here at a tasty price. 3-1 Congo would be my predicted scoreline here so Im gonna take a chance on the 4 or more goals at a tasty 7/2 with Paddy Power Dr Congo @ 3.0 Betfair 4 or more goals @ 4.50 Paddy Power

Welcome suker57.:welcome Even though Ivory Coast looked ordinary in their 1st game they should be too strong for a very average Libyan side. Looking forward to further posts from you in the future. Do you have any leagues that you 'specialise' in? Cheers:ok Dave
My speciality is football: all big europeans league, but especially french soccer ;)

Re: African Nations Cup Winner and Tournament Bets

Im with you Frisky. Also I think Angola are without Abreu today, who is an important part of their defence.Plus Gilberto? (I think) who was out before the tournament.
Yes, Angola is missing some players who got injured before the Cup started (Gilberto is the only 'important' player who will be missed) and it must be said that all throughout the preparation to this competition until the first match things haven't quite gone their way. Angola should present yet several more changes in the team for today's match. 2 players got injured in last game: influential central defender Marco Abreu and left defender Lebo Lebo and they will be replaced respectively by Cali and Delgado. Also right defender Jacinto underperformed in that match and should be replaced by Loco. So, 3 out of 4 new players in defense isn't a great sign... :\ In midfield Edson was another player that coach Oliveira Gonçalves feels has underperformed and will be replaced by Maurito. The rest of the team should be the same. Captain (and star of the team) Akwá already said that "we are only interested in victory otherwise we should start packing our stuff and go home" while coach Oliveira Gonçalves stated that "this is clearly a decise match for us now that we already lost one game and we know Congo will be high on morale after beating Togo; we have to avoid comitting defensive mistakes like we did against Cameroon if we want to win". Also, from what I read I believe there must be some "unsolved business" between both managers and players from either side as their pre-match words are too confrontational and defiant as one might be expecting. There have been too many 'mind games' for several days and I expect a tense match... I don't know enough to rate Congo but from their manager's words ("this is just another match and the pressure is on Angola's side after losing the first game") it seems they will be happy with a draw in this game so that they can face an already qualified Cameroon in the last game to get an easy second place in the group. Therefore I think they won't risk looking for a goal unless Angola scores first. Havins said all this, I'm hesitating on betting for Angola's win because I think the odds have been dropping too much on them - and will probably be too tempting by the time the game starts. Angola to win (DNB) is probably the best option if the odds reach 2.00 because, like I said, Congo will be happy with a draw. I'll make up my mind at the last minute and decide if I should make a 'sentimental' bet to raise my already high enthusiasm for the match... :)

Re: African Nations Cup Winner and Tournament Bets My conclusion to my long post was that I think there might be value on Angola's win because people are giving too much consideration to the first match of this competition. If this were the first match I'm sure odds on Angola would be much lower. But since I expect the game to start with Angola attacking thee are some other good bets: Angola to score first goal @2.00 Bet365 HT/FT 1/1 @5.00 Ladbrokes (because Angola will look for a goal right from the start) Angola to win @2.60 Ladbrokes Lastly, I'm surprised with the high odds on OVER given the circumstances: both teams with great strikers, Angola in a 'must win situation' and with a new defense... So maybe some small stakes on OVER, I think... OVER 2.5 @2.50 VC Well, following my line of thought I think there's also value in betting Akwá will score anytime as he's clearly the best player from Angola and the biggest threat to Congo. Akwá anytime scorer @2.62 Bet365 But this is just my opinion, biased like I said, and in this competition it's hard to know much about all the teams... In the end I might be completely wrong...

Re: African Nations Cup Winner and Tournament Bets I'm gonna have to back Cameroon as well today. My local bookie (Chas Kendall) is kindly offering 4/7 on them beating Togo. :D On paper, Cameroon are a far stronger side - and the results thus far have been pretty predictable in the tournament. With Sammy Eto'o on fire at the moment (as he has been for a while now), and the great strength throughout their squad, I can't see past them. Whilst Ivory Coast made a few people sweat yesterday, they still won in the end. Cameroon should turn in a much better performance; and I'd expect them to win by a few goals.

Ehehe, yes I saw it too... :nana It must be said, however, that before that red card I counted 3 goal chances for Angola and 1 for Congo. Angola clearly started the game better and it took them a good 10 minutes AFTER the red card to take control of the game again. Akwá already had some chances but it seems it's not his day!!! :@

Re: African Nations Cup Winner and Tournament Bets I didn't bet on Angola - Congo (fortunately as it seems), but I think I will also go for Cameroon. The odds are not that big at 1.40, but I'm pretty certain that they will beat Togo who were rather disappointing in their first match of the tournament.

Re: African Nations Cup Winner and Tournament Bets Angola 0-0 Congo FT UNBELIEVABLE how Angola wasted so many chances in the first 65 minutes... But what annoyed me was that in the last 20-25 minutes they stopped playing!!! They seemed so tired that even playing against 10 men wasn't enough...!! :@ P.S. The last 10 minutes of this match were probably the shittiest I have witnessed in my life!!! I have no words to express what I'm feeling...

Re: African Nations Cup Winner and Tournament Bets Cameroon is attacking, but Togo's defence is tight. Cameroon clearly has had more chances, but not that many. I think they will finally slip in a goal, but I hope this won't turn out 0 - 0. Cameroon's attacking all the time though... they just had another good chance by Eto'o... go Cameroon!!
