gogetta
Serie B seems to have a high turnover of both coaches and players. Consequently, teams that maintained their core have had good results early in the season Eg Vasco Da Gama (relegated from Serie A), Atletico Go (who decided to use the last rounds of last season to prepare for this season) and new-comer Brazil Pelotas (who retained their promotion team). Some teams are continuing to re-design (releasing and recruiting players) even as the season goes on. This makes for some unpredictability early in the season until the teams settle down. Then the grueling nature of the championship will take over ie a packed fixture and quick turnaround, a lot of travel, frequent suspensions and injuries. Re-posted this here as I thought this is the relevant place.
gogetta
Bahia vs Paysandu Hosts, with a balanced team, are among the contenders for promotion. Last season, they started well and remained around the top 4 before fading in the last rounds. They also started this season well, with two home wins and an way draw. But the last two matches showed both promise as well as frustration. Bahia showed its attacking potential in the away game against Vasco Da Gama, the top favorites. The visitors conceded two first half goals but raised their game in the second half to score two goals to tie the game, before eventually losing 4-3. However, in the next game, at home to direct competitors Nautico, Bahia were frustrated by the visitors' highly defensive approach, ending the game 0-0. In the next game, at home against Paysandu, the team is under pressure to get their act together and get the 3 points. Meanwhile Paysandu's early season performance has been blighted by absences through injury, and this problem persists. Home win.

gogetta
Paysandu vs Nautico Home-side is coming from a 3-0 away loss to Bahia. On top of recent absences due to injury, the team seems to be having a dressing room crisis as well; forcing the club management on monday to suspend three players for the rest of the season. Meanwhile Nautico seems to be gaining momentum and Coach Aexandre Gallo has a full squad against Paysandu. Away win. Goias vs Bahia Hosts finally return to their home stadium (Serra Dourada) but Coach Enderson Moreira still cannot field a stable 11due to persistent absences. They come up against a confident, attacking Bahia team that creates and converts its chances; and appears to have worked on its defence following the 4-3 away loss to Vasco Da Gama. Meanwhile hosts struggle to score (from set-pieces and counter-attacks). Away win. black_baar

gogetta
Sampaio - Criciuma The statistics show that in the last 5 games, Sampaio has had one draw and 4 losses. Therefore, the visitors, Criciuma, are hoping to get their first away win against a supposedly weak Sampaio. But there are signs of a likely upset. The details reveal that Sampaio has regained its scoring boots and has scored 3 goals in the last two matches, which is a notable improvement to the chronic lack of goals exhibited even during the Maranhense state championship. Secondly, the team is again showing fighting spirit. In the latest game last Tuesday, away to CRB, Sampaio took the game to the hosts and scored the first goal in the 10th minute! It even got another clear chance to extend its lead but its attacker took the wrong option and it was promptly punished, eventually losing the game 2-1. Notable was that the team attacked more than the hosts and that Coach Wagner Lopez made even more offensive substitutions in the second half. The big number of new players are slowly getting integrated, with Coach Wagner Lopez a master at assembling large teams as well as using various tactical schemes, which will come handy in this marathon championship. Moreover, the team desperately needs the 3 points in this game, at home to Criciuma, to get off the bottom of the table and gain some tranquility for further progress in the championship. Wagner Lopez previously coached Criciuma and has some inside knowledge to neutralize the opponents; who are poor travellers and struggle to score away from home. In short, a desperate home team in fighting spirit against an opponent who tends to wither away from home. Home win.

gogetta
Sampaio vs Brasil Pelotas In the last two matches, hosts have shown improved defensive stability but still lacking in creativity and conversion of chances. Coach Wagner Lopez seeks to build on this defensive stability to seek a second home win. Following the 1-0 away loss to Vila Nova in the last round, the team descended again to the bottom of the table but this time on goal difference - highlighting the need to focus more on creativity and conversion of the available chances. However, Midfielder Renan Ribeiro is suspended while striker Edgar is doubtful - though the team now has options including the availability of new striker Elias. The visitors come into this match on the back of a 3-0 away loss to Ceara, in which they conceded two goals towards the end of the game. For this game, Coach Rogerio Zimmermann will have to find cover for the absence of two suspended players: winger Wender and attacking midfielder Felipe Garcia - who is the team's top-scorer and the championship's second top-scorer with 5 goals. Home-side urgently needs the win while the visitors, without their usual attacking threat, are likely to focus more on defensive organization. Home win. gogetta
Goias vs Paysandu Home-side comes smarting from a 1-1 derby draw against Vila Nova, feeling that it was denied a win through poor officiation. Goias is usually compact at home but is recently gaining attacking confidence due to pacy young players that execute fast counter-attacks, notably 20-year old Leo Sena and 22-year old Rossi (who operate on the left and right wings respectively). Against Paysandu, the team is reinforced with important returns at left-back and midfield, while Coach Leo Conde has also opted for a tactical switch to improve the attack. Meanwhile Paysandu has recovered from a poor start to the championship, on the basis of a solid defence ( 5 games now without conceding a goal!); but the team''s attack is yet to recover. For this game, Coach Gilmar Dal Pozzo intends to maintain the balance of the defensive sector, as he is forced to rotate his fatigued experienced midfielders Celsinho and Rafael Luz. Therefore, momentum appears to be on the home-side in a tight contest. Home-win and Under 2.5 goals. Avai vs Vila Nova Home-side is under pressure following six rounds without a win (4 straight defeats and two recent draws), but the team is showing signs of recovery. Coach Silas Pereira is a proponent of compact, one-touch football, giving priority to skill; but has highlighted the importance of scoring against Vila Nova. Team has no serious player absences. However, Vila Nova is coming into this game facing key absences. Despite Coach Guilherme Alves' belief in aggressive football, he has been forced to improvise in central defence and midfield (particularly the wings). Home- win One bet won and one lost. Goias 0-0 Paysandu Avai 3-1 Vila Nova

gogetta
Parana vs Avai Home team comes into this game on the back of three victories ie away win against table leader Vasco Da Gama, home win over Joinville and the latest an away win over Bragantino. Therefore, Parana is motivated to seek a fourth consecutive win that will propel it from 5th spot into the G4! Coach Marcelo Martelotte has designed a cohesive team that seeks to control the game and to exploit the opponents' mistakes. The visitors are themselves on a 4-game unbeaten run - two draws and two recent back-to-back wins, including last saturday's home win over table-leaders Vasco. Therefore, Avai seeks a third consecutive win but this would be its first away win this season. But the team is emboldened by both its current form and its head-to-head edge over Parana. Both teams are on form and full of confidence for this game. Both are more likely to avoid defeat by nullifying each other, as first priority. Therefore, the game could be quite close with few goals. Draw and Under 2.5 goals. nickel1 and fat
